- Chapter 19 - Pink? What Kind of Grown Man Is Pink...
The moment Lou Yishu’s accident occurred, the live streams for both him and Qiao Yuxi were cut. However, the sound of the splash was recorded with startling clarity, leaving the audience in a state of shock.
The Bullet Chat:
- “Why did it go black? I think I heard Lou Yishu fall into the water.”
- “I heard it too…”
- “Oh my god, is he okay? Please let him be safe.”
While the majority of the chat was praying for his safety, a few discordant notes began to surface.
- “What are they up to now? There are so many people on set, how could anything actually happen? I advise you netizens not to pity these ‘208s’ (high-paid celebrities). Their hourly wage is more than you make in a month.”
- “Let me see if he’s dead yet, tee-hee.”
- “To be honest, someone like him living is just a waste of oxygen.”
- “I hope he doesn’t drag our Qiao-Qiao down with him. [Pitying face]”
These radical comments immediately sparked a backlash from the general public.
- “The stench of a hater pretending to be a fan is really strong upstairs. You better sleep with one eye open tonight~”
- “We might be miserable workers, but at least we’re human. I can’t say the same for whatever creature you are.”
- “Long story short: not human.”
- “The world is evolving so fast, even beasts have learned how to talk.”
- “Acting like a coward in real life, but as soon as you get online, you use every dirty trick on celebrities.”
- “Waste of oxygen? The air you breathe in is basically a fart anyway.”
The production crew and emergency medical staff rushed to the scene immediately to assess the situation.
Fortunately, Qiao Yuxi had lunged forward the second Lou Yishu fell. Lou Yishu had swallowed some water but was otherwise unharmed. However, the injury to his foot was shocking. His feet were as beautiful as the rest of him, but his ankle had already swollen into a large, bruised lump.
Medical personnel quickly sprayed him with Yunnan Baiyao, while other staff members set up a temporary changing tent on site. Since the island was inaccessible to vehicles, they had to swap their soaked clothes right there.
Qiao Yuxi had shed his jacket to save Lou Yishu, leaving him in only a black undershirt. The thin fabric left nothing to the imagination, highlighting his well-defined musculature and powerful biceps. He was the literal definition of “looking lean in clothes, but muscular without.”
While Lou Yishu was being treated, Qiao Yuxi went to change first. In the end, he forced himself to accept the hideous, swamp-green tactical jacket.
Qiao Yuxi emerged with a towel draped over his head to find Lou Yishu waiting outside the tent.
“I told you that you’d look good in that color,” Lou Yishu said. He was still a bit weak, his voice airy and faint, but his smile remained as warm as a spring breeze as he offered the sincere compliment.
The back of Qiao Yuxi’s neck flushed red. He snapped back in feigned annoyance, “I don’t need you to tell me that! I look good in everything!”
Lou Yishu simply chuckled at the reaction and limped past him into the changing area.
“Teacher Qiao!” As Qiao Yuxi was heading back to his “throne” his favorite rock a staff member chased after him. “Teacher Qiao, we didn’t bring enough towels. I’m afraid you and Teacher Lou will have to share one.”
Qiao Yuxi nodded, took the towel off his head, and brought it over to Lou Yishu.
“Lou Yishu, the towel.” Qiao Yuxi pulled back the curtain of the changing area, but the scene before him caused his pupils to dilate violently.
Lou Yishu was halfway through changing, his shirt hanging off one arm. His entire back was exposed.
Snow-white. That was the first thing Qiao Yuxi saw. He had assumed Lou Yishu’s face was pale because of makeup or foundation, but how could his entire body be this white? And beyond the paleness, the skin at his joints was tinged with a delicate pink from the capillaries beneath.
Even… those parts were pink.
Qiao Yuxi’s eyes were wide, not blinking for a second. Time seemed to freeze for three heartbeats. Then, suddenly, Qiao Yuxi slammed the towel onto Lou Yishu’s face and fled the tent, his legs moving in an awkward, stiff-jointed scramble. His face grew visibly redder by the second; his internal CPU felt like it was about to overheat.
How can they be pink? How can a normal man be pink?!
Qiao Yuxi covered the lower half of his face with his hand.
Dammit, why does my nose feel hot? Crap, crap, crap! This is so embarrassing! Ugh!!!
In a panic, he fled the changing area and ran to the river, scooping up handfuls of icy water to splash on his face in a desperate attempt at “physical cooling.”
Back in the tent, Lou Yishu stood with the towel draped over his face. Watching Qiao Yuxi’s retreating back, his face was a portrait of confusion. He had no idea how he had offended the man this time.
Lou Yishu checked his body in the mirror. There weren’t any scars; the only injury he had from his past life was hidden by his hair. He couldn’t fathom what Qiao Yuxi had seen to elicit such a violent reaction.
Unlike Qiao Yuxi’s “gym-sculpted” physique, Lou Yishu’s muscles were more compact and functional. This was the result of training since childhood under the General of the neighboring estate. The General had trained him exactly like his own soldiers; thus, Lou Yishu’s muscles were built for endurance and explosive power, not just aesthetics. He had also inherited his mother’s inability to tan. While the soldiers he trained with had turned dark and weathered, he remained glowingly white.
When Lou Yishu finally emerged after changing, he found Qiao Yuxi sitting by the river, staring blankly at the water as if contemplating the meaning of life.
“Are you hungry? Eat some fruit,” Lou Yishu said, tentatively poking Qiao Yuxi. He wasn’t sure what had set “the princess” off this time.
“Huh? So white, No! Cough! Ahem!” Qiao Yuxi turned his head stiffly, his eyes slightly glazed. The words that slipped out betrayed his thoughts. Realizing his blunder, he scrambled to cover it up: “What did you say? Oh, I’m not hungry, no need to eat, haha! I was just spacing out. I didn’t say anything, don’t take it to heart, haha!”
