- The Prime Minister Becomes a Global Sensation After Transmigrating into a Pariah
- Chapter 11 - I’m Done with You! Don’t Talk to Me.
It felt like the calm before the storm; the live comments were harmonious and peaceful.
Seeing that the fire was settled, Lou Yishu sat on a large stone and began tinkering with a bamboo pole he had collected. The audience in the livestream immediately perked up, eager to see what he would create next. Beside him, Qiao Yuxi sat cross-legged at his feet, resting his chin on one hand and watching intently.
- “Is it just me? This suddenly feels like a ‘Slow TV’ lifestyle show. The atmosphere is so cozy.”
- “It feels less like ‘Survival in the Wild’ and more like an outdoor excursion… paired with the gurgling river and chirping birds, it’s perfection.”
- “Lou Yishu has such beautiful hands; his joints are so well-defined.”
- “When Princess Qiao settles down, he really has a ‘dominant’ aura, hahaha.”
- “I’m sorry sisters, but I’m going to start ‘carving flowers out of marble’ [writing fanfic]! No one can stop my pen!”
- “Wait, I didn’t even blink, and Teacher Lou is already finished? What?”
Lou Yishu had first used his steel ruler to grind against a rough stone. Although it wasn’t as sharp as a dagger, it was functional enough to hack away the excess roots from the bamboo.
He took the other shoelace from his boot and tied it tightly about thirty centimeters from the base of the bamboo, securing it with a dead knot. Then, using the ruler, he split the base of the bamboo into four equal sections, creating four standing splints. He inserted two small wooden sticks of appropriate lengths into the gaps to control the angle of the splints. Finally, he used the remaining string to lash the sticks and split bamboo firmly in place and used the ruler to sharpen the tips.
Just like that, a rudimentary fish spear was complete.
“Whoa~” Qiao Yuxi’s reaction mirrored the comments, though he refused to let his admiration show too much. “I can make things too! I shall make a shrimp rod!”
Lou Yishu looked down at Qiao Yuxi sitting at his feet. He couldn’t help but visualize the large dogs he’d seen in short videos; he didn’t remember the breed, but when Qiao Yuxi was quiet, he truly appeared quite obedient.
His eyes curved into a gentle smile as he said softly to Qiao Yuxi, “Very well. I know you are very capable.”
“I! Of course I am capable! Do you even need to say it?” Qiao Yuxi stood up abruptly as if poked. He turned to leave, but not before throwing out a “tough” parting shot, though he stuttered in the process. “Y-you, in the future, you are not, not allowed to speak like that!!!”
“Pardon?” Lou Yishu didn’t understand what he meant.
“Ugh! I’m done with you! You are forbidden from speaking to me.”
“As you wish~” Lou Yishu chuckled to himself. He didn’t know what Qiao Yuxi was being so difficult about now, but he found the reaction rather adorable.
The comments were losing their minds:
- “Did Brother Qiao just blush? I’m not seeing things, right? I definitely saw it!!!”
- “Dammit, I don’t blame him. I can’t even handle it through the screen. Lou Yishu is too much; he’s cheating!”
- “Qiao-Qiao is such a ‘tsundere’ [stubborn yet sweet] hahaha.”
- “I really can’t blame the shippers. Even as a passerby, I think these two are acting suspicious.”
- “Wait, people are actually falling for this? Wake up! This is Lou Yishu’s usual tactic—he loves acting ambiguous with stars for clout.”
Once the spear was ready, Lou Yishu was eager to hunt. It was nearly 1:00 PM and they hadn’t eaten yet. However, ever since he had almost drowned in Jiangnan before transmigrating, that sense of suffocation still haunted him. He was somewhat averse to entering deep water. Fortunately, he was an expert marksman with a spear; he could simply throw it.
Lou Yishu tracked a fish swimming slowly in the river. Watching for the right moment, he hurled the spear. He rushed over to check the results, but the spear was empty. He didn’t lose heart and threw it again another miss. He repeated this several times as time ticked by, but he hadn’t caught a single fish.
Lou Yishu felt a bit dejected. He didn’t know where he was going wrong.
“You’re bothering my shrimp fishing! Hmph!” Qiao Yuxi finally couldn’t hold his tongue anymore when he saw Lou Yishu focused entirely on throwing the spear.
“You’re making so much noise you’re scaring my shrimp away.” He wasn’t stupid; inspired by Lou Yishu, he had used a bamboo strip, kite string, and a paperclip from his clothes to make a makeshift hook and rod.
But his shrimp hunt was also yielding nothing.
“My apologies,” Lou Yishu murmured, his brow furrowed with a hint of sorrow on his beautiful face.
“What’s wrong? Are you going to cry?” Qiao Yuxi scanned the dejected Lou Yishu with his almond eyes, his tone carrying a trace of panic he didn’t even realize was there.
“I am not,” Lou Yishu replied, finding it amusing. He had no idea how Qiao Yuxi’s mind worked; a man does not shed tears easily. Seeing Qiao Yuxi still eyeing him suspiciously, he voiced his frustration: “I aimed perfectly, yet the spear simply will not strike the fish.”
“Throw it once so I can see.”
Lou Yishu nodded. He turned back to the river, staring intently at a swimming fish with an expression as serious as if he were facing an enemy general. Qiao Yuxi only heard a sharp shua! as the bamboo spear flew through the air like an arrow, the force even creating a gust that stirred his hair.
Is that even a fish spear?! Qiao Yuxi screamed internally. He felt that spear could kill a person, let alone a fish!
Qiao Yuxi’s gaze was a bit vacant. By the time he recovered, Lou Yishu had already retrieved the empty spear. He gestured with the blank tips as if to say, See? Just like that.
Qiao Yuxi wiped a cold sweat from his brow. He made a silent vow to never make Lou Yishu truly angry.
Although the spear had been fast, Qiao Yuxi had seen the problem. He didn’t know how to spear fish personally, but he had played a fisherman! He had starred in a film set in a coastal village and lived there for two months to prepare, so he knew the theory.
“When you spear a fish, you cannot aim directly at where you see it. When the light from the fish enters the air from the water, it tricks the human brain, making you think the fish is there when it’s actually elsewhere. You must aim below where you see the fish to hit it,” Qiao Yuxi explained. Seeing Lou Yishu’s slightly dazed look, he told him to try again.
The comments seized this moment to attack Lou Yishu:
- “What’s the point of explaining? He won’t understand.”
- “The ‘uneducated fraud’ title is well-earned~”
- “Is this not middle school science?”
- “Exactly! He didn’t finish middle school! Hahahaha~”
- “Why did so many ‘monkeys’ suddenly swarm in? Go back to your own feeds!”
- “I’m sorry, I forgot everything after my college entrance exams. Is it not normal to forget refraction?”
Just as the comments were peaking in toxicity, a sharp shua! drew everyone’s attention back to the screen. The spear had flown out once more.
