The Popular Darling Says She’s Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 18.1
“Huh? Now?”
“Okay, okay, I understand. It’s not that I’m unwilling… Don’t worry…”
Wen Shiyu thought Seraphina had some sort of emergency, so she could only hurriedly dry her hair, grab a jacket, and head out.
The moment she pulled open the door, she suddenly remembered—Su Yan was still there.
Sure enough, Su Yan was standing in the hallway, her figure tall and straight. She seemed to have just obtained the blocking spray, holding it in her hand as she looked at her calmly.
Wen Shiyu’s heart skipped a beat, instinctively assuming Su Yan would speak up to stop her from going to see Seraphina so late at night.
But Su Yan’s heart was currently filled with complex emotions; having confirmed that Seraphina was unwell and needed Wen Shiyu, she actually didn’t say much. She simply placed the small bottle of spray into Wen Shiyu’s hand.
“Spray this on first.”
Wen Shiyu nodded. While walking quickly toward the stairs, she haphazardly sprayed the back of her neck a few times. As the scent of the blocking agent dissipated, she ran through the night, heading straight for the villa’s dormitory area.
A maid was already waiting at the door, silently opening the large gate for her and whispering, “The Young Lady is in the bedroom.”
“Seraphina?”
Wen Shiyu pushed open the bedroom door and immediately saw Seraphina sitting stiffly by the edge of the bed. Hearing the sound, the girl looked up.
In that instant, she looked exactly like a young deer pinned in place by sudden headlights, her large eyes filled with panic and embarrassment.
“What’s wrong?” Wen Shiyu closed the door behind her and walked straight to her.
Seraphina’s face was flushed deep red, the color even staining her neck and collarbones; she looked as if she had a fever. Wen Shiyu naturally reached out, wanting to check the temperature of her forehead.
The moment her fingers touched the skin, Wen Shiyu noticed it: Seraphina was actually wearing a collar around her neck.
Seraphina kept her head low, her hands fruitlessly trying to cover it.
“You called me over… because this won’t come off?” Wen Shiyu asked in confusion.
Seraphina was so embarrassed she almost curled into a ball. She opened her mouth, but in the end, she could only give a very slight nod. “Uh, right…”
Wen Shiyu wanted to help her take a look, so she gently brushed aside Seraphina’s cascading long hair. To get a better look, she almost pulled the other girl halfway into her embrace.
Seraphina’s breath hitched, and she unexpectedly leaned her forehead against Wen Shiyu’s shoulder, her hand reaching out to lightly tug at Wen Shiyu’s clothes.
Wen Shiyu was focused entirely on fumbling with the collar.
It was indeed locked tight.
Wen Shiyu tried pulling with force and repeatedly pressed several possible hidden buttons, but it didn’t budge at all.
But strangely… her fingertips could feel a series of faint vibrations coming from the collar itself?
As if sensing Wen Shiyu’s confusion, Seraphina’s ears turned so red they looked ready to bleed. Her hands, which had been covering her neck, shifted to cover her face instead.
In a place Wen Shiyu couldn’t see, the app on Seraphina’s phone was displaying the usage status of this tool. On the screen, her ‘heartbeat value’ had begun to fluctuate the moment Wen Shiyu entered, climbing all the way up.
According to the tool’s programming, it would only unlock once the heartbeat value reached a certain level.
Seraphina knew this in her heart, but she was truly too embarrassed to speak. She could only follow the scent, slowly burying her face in Wen Shiyu’s hair, nuzzling back and forth like a puppy.
She nuzzled until her distressed eyes began to lose focus. Finally, she whispered softly.
“You… bite me…”
“What?”
“Bite me… mark… me…” She spoke very quietly, her voice trembling slightly, filled with shame.
“This way it can open…”
“Huh?” Wen Shiyu, however, completely failed to grasp the emotional weight an Omega placing such a request should carry. Instead, she became even more perplexed.
“This collar… what does it have to do with biting your neck?”
These words made Seraphina’s face explode with redness instantly.
“I—I’ve already let you bite me, and you’re still asking questions,” she said, both ashamed and angry, letting it all out in a rush.
“You’ve already done that kind of thing to me, I’m even… I’m even pregnant with your child! And now you won’t even help me with this little thing, you just keep asking…”
“Ah?” Wen Shiyu could only say: “Okay, okay, I’ll help you, I’ll bite.”
Wen Shiyu simply felt that since she wasn’t actually an Alpha, biting wouldn’t have any effect anyway.
But Seraphina looked like she was about to cry, so Wen Shiyu could only haphazardly bite her neck. To her surprise, the girl immediately quieted down.
Wen Shiyu really didn’t know if it was working. She didn’t dare use real force, only using her teeth lightly… and then she heard Seraphina’s breathing pattern hitching along with the rhythm of her teeth.
Seraphina felt that Wen Shiyu was teasing her; she was angry, yet helpless.
Finally, as if she couldn’t take it anymore, tears were about to fall. “Ugh… a bit harder.”
Wen Shiyu was startled but could only bite down harder on that small patch of flesh on her neck.
Immediately, she heard Seraphina gasp, her toes curling, her hands clutching the bedsheets tightly.
She seemed to be in some pain, yet she wasn’t entirely in pain as she pressed herself close.
Gradually, Wen Shiyu seemed to faintly distinguish a small, burning presence from the back of her neck. She smelled a hint of peach scent. Her own heart rate began to quicken.
Wen Shiyu closed her eyes, treating this small, feverish spot like the flesh of a peach, nibbling at it…
This subtle adjustment brought a more obvious effect. Seraphina arched her body, letting out a sound like a sob, and then softly called Wen Shiyu’s name.
Without Wen Shiyu noticing, the collar let out two beeps and fell off Seraphina’s neck.
It took Wen Shiyu a long while to react. Her throat felt dry. “It’s done, it fell off.”
But Seraphina didn’t let go of her. Instead, she tightened her arms, hugging her even more firmly.
Her eyes had become somewhat vacant. At some point, fluffy white rabbit ears had emerged, drooping softly among her hair. Her cheek rubbed against Wen Shiyu, her voice soft and sticky:
“…More.”
“I want more…”
She was in a daze, unconsciously rubbing her cheek against Wen Shiyu’s neck and chin. At the same time, a fluffy short tail popped out from behind her, sticking up high and wagging slightly from side to side.
Wen Shiyu was stunned looking at her like this. It took her a long time to find her voice.
“Is this… not very good?”
“Hmm?”
Seraphina was already in a muddle, but while rubbing against Wen Shiyu’s neck, she vaguely sensed a trace of an unfamiliar scent.
She suddenly widened her eyes again. “What is this smell?”
“Huh?”
“You—what did you do with Su Yan?”
“Nothing, she just wanted to talk to me about the perfume…”
“That’s not right, you have her scent on you.”
“I don’t think so…”
“You do!”
Wen Shiyu felt like she was sweating under the questioning. She hurriedly cupped the girl’s neck. “Didn’t you say you wanted to be marked?”
She would bite now.
But Seraphina lost her temper again. “I don’t want it anymore… You’re a big liar. I hate you, I won’t let you bite me anymore…”
However, when Wen Shiyu tightened her arms and pulled her into a closer embrace, her slight, angry struggles quickly turned into a whimper of “wanting yet refusing.” Her body honestly betrayed her, and the fluffy rabbit tail wagged even harder.
“No… don’t…” Her voice was as soft as melting sugar, carrying a faint sob, like a kitten acting spoiled.
Wen Shiyu’s cheeks were also burning fiercely. This was because she clearly felt that although Seraphina’s mouth was refusing, that sweet peach fragrance grew even more intense, nearly enveloping her entirely.
Seraphina panted softly, even starting to use a soft, waxy voice filled with tears to beg for mercy, intermittently saying she couldn’t take it anymore.
Wen Shiyu released her teeth, stopping the action that wasn’t actually a real marking.
But Seraphina still clung to her tightly, like a drowning person clutching a piece of driftwood, calling her name over and over with a sob.
“Wen Shiyu… Wen Shiyu… help me…”
Wen Shiyu felt as if a faint vibration was coming from somewhere else as well. She swept the collar that had fallen on the bed onto the floor, but that tiny “buzzing” sound seemed to remain.
Belatedly realizing something, her gaze moved downward.
Seraphina’s mind was no longer clear; she only knew how to whimper softly, nuzzling Wen Shiyu’s hand for comfort.
Not until Wen Shiyu tried to lift her legs did she become exceptionally obedient, actively hugging her.
While burying her face in her knees, she dazedly called Wen Shiyu’s name, saying she was sorry with a sob.
Only then did Wen Shiyu clearly see that Seraphina was still wearing a pair of “bloomers” (panty-style).
Realizing the special nature of these bloomers…
Wen Shiyu finally understood what was going on…
She reached out, wanting to help Seraphina take them off, but why was there a belt attached!
And it was locked. Was it the same as the collar?
Wen Shiyu felt the room was so hot; her brain felt like it wasn’t functioning normally either. She stared for a moment, then reached out…
Seraphina soon threw her head back, letting out a small cry and pulling up the bedsheets.
The belt actually opened.
Wen Shiyu finally helped her take them off. And then, she accidentally came face-to-face with…
A completely soaked, pitiful-looking rabbit tail.
…
The next day, before meeting Wen Shiyu, Su Yan stood at the agreed-upon spot.
She was dressed very neatly, her buttons fastened all the way to the top. She rarely stood with her hands on her hips, taking several deep breaths.
She tried to tell herself: You are a high-level Alpha, you can control your pheromones.
With a contact as simple as touching the neck, it’s impossible for them to leak again. Otherwise, what would that make her?
“Su Yan.”
She heard her name and looked up to see Wen Shiyu waving at her, running over.
Wen Shiyu had been reluctant and dazed the last time, but today she had actually arrived quite early.
Soon, Wen Shiyu stood before her, panting slightly, a hint of unease hidden in her eyes.
“The matter of the pheromone perfume… it will definitely be successful, right?”
Su Yan was taken aback: “Of course. Especially if we can get Seraphina to adapt to the scent first…” She paused. “Why do you ask so suddenly?”
Wen Shiyu lowered her head and scratched her scalp. “It’s nothing, just, I felt like I almost got caught yesterday. She said… I had your scent on me.”
Those last words made Su Yan’s heart skip a beat for some reason.
“Didn’t you use that blocking spray?”
“I did.”
“Then… was she too close to you?”
Wen Shiyu froze, then said vaguely, “Oh, a little bit.”
Su Yan looked at her, wanting to ask specifically what had happened, but then remembered she had to keep her own emotions calm. Otherwise, her pheromones would come out again.
She looked away and nodded. “To provide pheromones, some physical contact is inevitable. Once the perfume is made, you won’t have to do this anymore.”
Wait. Her thoughts suddenly stalled. What she was currently more concerned about—was it really Seraphina, or was it Wen Shiyu?
Su Yan even felt a slight cold sweat breaking out on her back. The one she cared about should be Seraphina, right?
They had grown up together. Ever since her mother joked during their childhood that they were a well-matched pair, she had naturally viewed Seraphina as an indispensable half of her future life’s canvas.
She liked protecting and taking care of her own Omega. She liked knowing everything about her.
She and Seraphina were childhood friends, a perfect match in social status; they were so suitable. Su Yan had never questioned it, nor had she ever thought of other possibilities.
She liked Seraphina, didn’t she?
Wen Shiyu didn’t notice Su Yan’s distraction. She hadn’t slept well herself.
The way Seraphina had cried and acted spoiled last night kept flashing through her mind.
Although she had agreed to help Seraphina “cure her illness” and promised to be obedient to her, the intimacy at certain moments last night… had clearly exceeded the necessary boundaries.
Seraphina’s mind was blurred because of the illness, but what about herself? She had been clear-headed.
When Seraphina recovered and looked back on all of this, she would surely be angry or even disgusted, right?
Wen Shiyu only wanted to graduate peacefully and return home as soon as possible. This couldn’t go on. It was better to keep a bit of distance.
Seraphina was probably also bothered by last night’s events; she hadn’t looked for her all morning.
It wasn’t until the public class in the afternoon that the two met face-to-face at the entrance of the lecture hall.
Seraphina saw Wen Shiyu at a glance, and her ear tips turned red at a speed visible to the naked eye. But she quickly looked away, intentionally pretending not to see her, and was the first to walk into the classroom.
Then she sat in her usual spot, eyes downcast, her fingers unconsciously and repeatedly fiddling with the charm on her bag. She appeared indifferent, but in reality, her entire attention was locked onto the classroom entrance.
Wen Shiyu walked in. Seraphina’s spine stiffened almost imperceptibly for a second.
However, when Wen Shiyu’s steps passed by the empty seat next to Seraphina, she didn’t stop. She walked straight to the back and found a seat in the last few rows.
Seraphina froze entirely. Her fiddling fingers also stopped in mid-air.
Just then, Su Yan walked into the classroom. Her gaze first landed on Seraphina, then swept backward and saw Wen Shiyu sitting alone in the back row.
Su Yan hesitated, which was rare for her.
The classroom, which had been filled with fragmented chatter, suddenly became so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Almost all students stopped what they were doing, eavesdropping secretly, with countless gazes shifting quietly between the three of them.
Su Yan stood in place for a moment, her gaze moving toward Wen Shiyu several times, but ultimately she walked over to sit beside Seraphina.
“Phew—”
The sound of faint sighs of relief could be heard almost everywhere in the classroom, followed by more intense eye contact and whispers that could barely be suppressed.
The same thought flashed through many people’s minds: Has Wen Shiyu finally been discarded by the trio?
Thank goodness! The order of the world had been restored.
Wen Shiyu also breathed a sigh of relief in secret. Compared to sitting next to those three big stars, the corner in the back row made her feel much safer.
However, this breath was released too early.
