The Popular Darling Says She’s Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 11
Transmigration Diary 11
The two of them were huddled under the covers. Seraphina was wearing only a thin silk nightgown, and as she pressed herself closely against her, Wen Shiyu soon felt her entire body heating up.
She felt even hotter than she had when she was sweating from her run earlier.
Subconsciously, she tried to pull away.
But Seraphina’s arms, wrapped around the back of her neck, immediately tightened, refusing to let go.
Not only was her body pressed tight against her, but she was also kissing her. Being pinned down like this, Wen Shiyu soon felt as if she were running out of oxygen.
She reached out and pushed gently, only to accidentally touch soft, fluffy rabbit ears.
Wen Shiyu’s eyes widened. It took her a long moment before she finally kicked off the stifling quilt.
She finally saw the scene before her clearly.
Seraphina’s eyes remained closed, but her entire face was as red as a ripe peach, and her long eyelashes were damp and clumped together.
Not only were those light-brown rabbit ears drooping softly amidst her hair, but even a small, fluffy rabbit tail peeked out from under the hem of her nightgown, curving at an adorable angle.
Seraphina had clearly run out of breath from the kissing as well. She soon leaned weakly into Wen Shiyu’s arms, the flush on her face refusing to fade for a long time.
“Mm… bastard… you’re not allowed to leave…”
“…”
Wen Shiyu looked at Seraphina, then at the door, and ultimately decided not to leave.
Even after the kissing stopped, Seraphina kept holding her tightly, mumbling under her breath. She even unceremoniously hooked a leg over Wen Shiyu, as if treating her like a giant body pillow.
Several times, Wen Shiyu’s gaze fell upon the little rabbit tail before she forced herself to look away. No, no, no, I can’t touch it.
That’s Seraphina, not a rabbit…!
With great difficulty, Wen Shiyu finally fell asleep in this strange, crowded, and warm embrace.
In the morning, she was startled awake by a short gasp.
She opened her eyes blankly, only to meet Seraphina’s amber eyes, which were wide with shock.
The young girl’s cheeks were so red they looked ready to drip blood, and she appeared furious. “How could you touch me so casually?”
Wen Shiyu: “Huh? That was you—”
“You rogue!” Seraphina interrupted her.
“What? No!”
Wen Shiyu tried to explain, but Seraphina had already bolted upright and began scrambling to put on her clothes.
First, she yanked her nightgown down hard, trying to cover more of the skin on her legs. Then, noticing the neckline was too loose, she hurriedly covered her chest with her hands, the blush spreading all the way down to her collarbones.
She glared at Wen Shiyu, who was still lying in bed, with embarrassment and annoyance. “You… you’re not allowed to look!”
“…” Wen Shiyu sat up as well, trying to be reasonable. “Did you not notice that you were the one sprawled all over me while you slept?”
“That… that must be because you took advantage of me being asleep and pulled me over!” Seraphina argued willfully, her ears turning deep red.
“How could I have done that?” Wen Shiyu felt the accusation was completely groundless.
“Your hand was clearly on my waist…!”
Wen Shiyu froze and instinctively looked at her own hand. Was it?
Seraphina’s face grew even redder at her look of confusion.
Who knew exactly what position they were in when she woke up this morning?
Seraphina said no more. She practically jumped off the bed and dashed into the attached walk-in closet.
Watching her look so shy she seemed about to go up in smoke, Wen Shiyu realized something in hindsight.
In Seraphina’s perception, Wen Shiyu was an “Alpha.”
So, to Seraphina, they were of different genders, rather than “both being girls” as Wen Shiyu subconsciously assumed…
In that case, was it inappropriate that she suddenly kissed her yesterday?
And she had curiously touched her rabbit ears…
Ugh. Suddenly feeling in the wrong, Wen Shiyu didn’t want to argue anymore. She’d just let it be her fault for holding her…
“Fine, it was my fault. I’m sorry.”
Wen Shiyu pulled back the covers, preparing to get out of bed and leave.
“Wait, where are you going?” The closet door immediately opened a crack, and Seraphina poked her head out.
“I can surely go back to my own dorm now, right?” Wen Shiyu said as if it were a matter of course. They didn’t have the same morning classes.
Hearing this, Seraphina pursed her lips, her face full of reluctance and displeasure, as if Wen Shiyu had made some outrageous request.
“No. You’re not allowed to leave.”
“Why?” Wen Shiyu truly didn’t understand. What else could she do by staying here?
Seraphina seemed stumped by the question. She frowned and then came up with a random excuse. “You still have to eat breakfast with me.”
“What I mean is… serve me during breakfast.”
Wen Shiyu pointed toward the door. “Isn’t there the maid?” That gentle and polite middle-aged maid was clearly much more professional than her.
Seraphina was momentarily speechless, then simply became unreasonable. “Are you in charge, or am I?”
Seraphina pulled Wen Shiyu back into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.
She looked back at her a few times to make sure she wouldn’t run away before going back into the dressing room to change.
Wen Shiyu really didn’t understand. She felt like Seraphina hated her, yet the girl insisted on keeping her by her side.
Once Seraphina finished washing up and stepped into the living room, the gentle maid was tidying the coffee table.
Seeing them come out, the maid informed them respectfully, “Miss Seraphina, Miss Su Yan called this morning to invite you to have breakfast together in the main dining hall. Therefore, I did not prepare breakfast at home.”
The trio often ate together like this, but Seraphina’s brow immediately furrowed, clearly dissatisfied with Su Yan’s arrangement.
“I don’t want to go,” she said. “We’ll eat at home.”
The maid was stunned for a moment but quickly gave an acknowledgment and hurried to the kitchen to make arrangements.
Seraphina pulled Wen Shiyu along to sit on the spacious sofa to wait for breakfast.
Seraphina looked down at her phone. She must have contacted Su Yan, because Su Yan called back almost immediately, asking why she didn’t want to go to the dining hall.
Seraphina didn’t give a proper answer.
Wen Shiyu looked down and noticed that Seraphina still had two lingering patches of blush on her cheeks.
“Seraphina,” Su Yan’s voice sounded puzzled, “your state lately… is really not right. Especially toward Wen Shiyu.”
While sitting on the sofa with Wen Shiyu, Seraphina had already unconsciously leaned her entire body toward her, her hand tightly gripping Wen Shiyu’s arm. Yet she replied to Su Yan with total confidence.
“Is not.”
Su Yan sighed. “I’m coming over now to talk in person, okay?”
“Don’t come.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end. “You wouldn’t… be with Wen Shiyu right now, would you?”
Seraphina’s fingers tightened around her phone, and she didn’t answer immediately. This silence seemed to confirm Su Yan’s suspicion.
“I’m coming over right now.”
Wen Shiyu heard everything clearly. The moment she heard Su Yan say she was coming over, she instinctively tried to stand up from the sofa.
As soon as she moved, Seraphina, who was leaning against her shoulder, almost immediately reached out and grabbed her tightly.
“Where are you going?”
“I… I have to go to class.” Wen Shiyu wasn’t lying.
“I have a morning class, I won’t be with you guys. I’ll be late if I don’t leave now.”
Seraphina’s brow furrowed tightly, and her lips thinned. She couldn’t seem to find a valid reason to make her stay, yet her fingers did not loosen their grip on Wen Shiyu’s wrist.
“Don’t go.”
“Huh? Why…”
“There is no ‘why.’ You’re just not allowed to go.”
Wen Shiyu didn’t want to run into Su Yan and she wanted to attend class, but facing this “creditor” who held her family’s economic lifeline, she couldn’t lose her temper. She took a deep breath.
“Is it… that you still need pheromones?”
Other than that, she couldn’t think of any other reason.
In her confusion, Wen Shiyu opened her arms. “Do you want me to hug you or…”
Seraphina froze as she looked at Wen Shiyu’s open arms.
“I… I don’t…” She denied it slowly, but her tone and expression seemed somewhat hesitant.
“Seraphina?” Wen Shiyu suddenly moved closer and gently touched her forehead. “Do you have a fever?”
Why is her face still so red?
“I… mm…” Seraphina first squinted her eyes as if she were in pain, then looked up at Wen Shiyu.
For a moment, her eyes seemed clouded with a layer of mist, looking confused, yet filled with a certain unspeakable longing that even she herself didn’t fully understand.
Wen Shiyu was stunned. Once again, she thought Seraphina’s eyes were beautiful.
Does she… want to kiss again? Wen Shiyu felt uncertain.
Seraphina had scolded her this morning, but her expression right now…
But they had clearly been together all night. Logically…
Did the required amount of pheromones actually increase?
Wen Shiyu hesitated and tried to lean in.
Knock, knock, knock.
The moderate sound of knocking interrupted the subtle atmosphere in the room.
Immediately following was Su Yan’s voice: “Seraphina?”
Seraphina’s body visibly stiffened. Instead of letting go, she suddenly grabbed Wen Shiyu’s hand with force, as if Su Yan’s arrival were some kind of unsettling threat.
The door was opened.
Seeing Wen Shiyu behind Seraphina, Su Yan felt a sense of “as I expected.”
“Why are you here?”
Seraphina took a step forward. “Su Yan. I already told you, I’m not having breakfast with you.”
But Su Yan interrupted her.
“Seraphina, why are you releasing repellent pheromones? Is it to keep me from getting close to Wen Shiyu?”
“No matter how you look at it, you should be more familiar with and trusting of me.”
Seraphina looked as if she were startled by Su Yan’s words.
“I… did I release pheromones?”
Su Yan’s frown deepened.
“What exactly is going on?”
“Ever since that accident in the cafeteria, I’ve felt like you’ve been hiding something from me. Your whole state has become very strange, especially toward her…”
Su Yan’s gaze locked onto Wen Shiyu again. “It’s almost like…”
Su Yan paused, and then her expression changed.
“What exactly are you? An Alpha, or a Beta?”
Wen Shiyu’s heart jolted. She opened her mouth, but didn’t know what to say.
Seraphina seemed to feel that Su Yan had figured it out. She covered her face, her lips trembling as if she were about to reveal everything the next second.
Wen Shiyu was so scared she wanted to cover Seraphina’s mouth. “Don’t!”
“Wen. Shi. Yu. You are not allowed to touch her again.” Su Yan stepped forward forcefully and pulled Wen Shiyu away from Seraphina.
“??” Seraphina instinctively reached out.
“Su Yan, give her back!”
But Su Yan remained firm. She held onto Wen Shiyu and called toward the door, “Xia Te!”
Xia Te, who had been waiting outside, immediately pushed the door open.
Seeing the three of them in a standoff, surprise flashed in her eyes, but she quickly stepped forward to support Seraphina at Su Yan’s signal.
“Wait, what’s happening??”
The room fell into total chaos for a moment.
Wen Shiyu felt that if she kept hiding it, she’d be strangled to death by Su Yan. She took a deep breath and shouted:
“Okay, okay! I’ll say it! Listen to my explanation, all of you!”
Half an hour later. In the study.
Xia Te had her arms crossed, repeating the words in disbelief. “You’re saying that Seraphina… has a pseudocyesis (false pregnancy)?”
“Yes,” Wen Shiyu lowered her voice.
“Seraphina thinks I’m an Alpha. But you both should be able to clearly perceive that I’m a Beta, right?”
On the other side, Su Yan had put down the phone, her expression complex.
“I’ve confirmed it with Aunt Isabella. What she said… is true.”
Hearing this, Wen Shiyu let out a small sigh of relief. This… shouldn’t count as her breaching the contract, right?
“So, I’m staying by her side based on the doctor’s suggestion.”
“But as a Beta, how do you provide her with pheromones?”
Wen Shiyu: “…”
“Uh, well, just… staying with her.”
Under Xia Te’s suspicious gaze, Wen Shiyu added awkwardly, “Holding hands and such…”
“I see.”
