The Plan to Save the Villainess Supporting Actress [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 37
Helping My Wife Chase Her Girlfriend: Day 6
At this moment, Xi Zhenyi did not know that she had become a “dog” in someone’s mouth.
She closed her phone with a smug expression, a perfect plan already forming in her mind. Earlier in the car, Nan Zhi had spoken with such conviction that Xi Zhenyi had been left momentarily dazed. But once they parted ways, the more Xi Zhenyi thought about it, the more she felt something was off.
Wait, on what basis was she supposed to chase Nan Zhi? Did she even like Nan Zhi?
Xi Zhenyi suddenly slammed her palm onto her desk, causing the secretaries in rooms one through five next door to tremble in fear.
Ha! Absolutely! No! Way!
She had felt zero chemistry with the previous, gentle Nan Zhi. Was she really going to like this new version who scolded and contradicted her every single day? Impossible. Do not even think about it!
Xi Zhenyi shook her head vigorously, prompting the secretaries to exchange worried glances. Since she did not like her, why bother chasing her? Was she crazy, or just too bored?
But the “noble” and “delicate” Miss Nan wanted her to give chase. What did that mean? It meant Nan Zhi still liked her! It was just that her previous attempts to pursue Xi Zhenyi had failed, so she had switched tactics.
Ha!
CEO Xi looked full of confidence and could not help but laugh. She felt she had finally figured out Nan Zhi’s recent abnormal behavior, and a strange sense of satisfaction bubbled up inside her. To go as far as changing her entire personality just to get her attention?
Nan Zhi, oh Nan Zhi, how much do you truly love me? Playing hard to get, are we? How old fashioned. Though, it is actually quite effective.
Xi Zhenyi stood with her hands on her hips, pacing back and forth in her office, letting out a silly giggle every now and then. She had it all planned out. Did Nan Zhi not want to be chased? Fine. She would play along with Nan Zhi’s wish. When Nan Zhi could no longer maintain this persona, Xi Zhenyi would pay her back for all the suffering she had endured these past few days.
“Hahaha! Brilliant! Simply brilliant!” Xi Zhenyi laughed, marveling at her own genius.
In the secretarial office, everyone looked at each other. The CEO had truly gone mad. He Yi wept silently. Our company is really going to collapse.
The moment the workday ended, Xi Zhenyi did something unprecedented: she sprinted out of the office at the stroke of the clock. She floored the gas pedal, turning her Phantom into a literal phantom that vanished in the blink of an eye. By the time she reached the villa, Xi Zhenyi was still admiring her own wit. Getting out of the car with her bag, she realized she had forgotten something. She blinked and thought for a moment. It probably was not anything important, right?
She hummed a little tune as she pressed the fingerprint lock.
“Dili dili, incorrect passcode.”
She tried a different finger.
“Dili dili, incorrect passcode. Please ring the doorbell.”
Xi Zhenyi suddenly had a bad feeling. Did Nan Zhi delete her fingerprints?
A second later, the door opened. Butler Wu saw it was Xi Zhenyi and immediately started making faces, trying to warn her about something. Before Xi Zhenyi could figure it out, the sound of shuffling slippers approached.
Nan Zhi appeared in loungewear; her fluffy pajama pants draped down, making her legs look long and straight. Xi Zhenyi could not help but wonder if it was necessary to wear such thick clothes in the spring. Once she passed the entryway, she understood why.
“Why is the air conditioning set so cold?” Xi Zhenyi’s hair stood on end almost instantly. She was so cold she wanted to shiver.
Nan Zhi gave a cold laugh. “Is it cold? CEO Xi, it is not nearly as cold as my heart.”
That was a bit cringey. But thinking about Nan Zhi’s supposed feelings for her, Xi Zhenyi endured it. When you like someone, you might occasionally say rather cheesy things. Xi Zhenyi suppressed her temper and spoke kindly, “May I ask what I did wrong? Did I make you angry again?”
Nan Zhi did not even bother to look up. “Did CEO Xi not call me “wife” in her text? Why do you lack the courage to say it to my face?”
Butler Wu, standing nearby, thought to himself: Holy crap, time to go.
The vast living room was left to the two of them. Xi Zhenyi hugged her arms for warmth and squeezed a word through her teeth, “Wi. Wife.”
The second syllable was almost a whisper, so quiet even the air conditioner’s hum drowned it out. Only she could hear it. Nan Zhi slowly approached Xi Zhenyi, standing very close. Their perfumes intertwined; one side fresh as dew, the other a citrusy wood scent. Xi Zhenyi’s heart thudded. She could not tell what was happening.
“Wh. What are you doing?”
“I want to observe CEO Xi at close range,” Nan Zhi’s eyes curved into a beautiful smile. “To see if you are a human or a dog.”
Xi Zhenyi: ?
“Did CEO Xi not say she was going to chase me? Why did you not even reply to my text?”
You sent me a text? Xi Zhenyi was caught off guard. She had assumed that, given Nan Zhi’s current persona, she would be the type to leave people on “read.” Just as she reached for her phone, Nan Zhi’s next words hit her.
“Furthermore, is your idea of “chasing” someone making me wait alone in the villa for over two hours without a word, without a plan, and without a single update? Tell me, CEO Xi, is this how you chase your wife?”
I had to wait until the end of the workday! I rushed back the second I finished!
“Oh, wait. As of today, CEO Xi, you no longer have a wife.”
Xi Zhenyi panicked. “What?”
Nan Zhi gave a cold smile. “Until you have my consent, we are merely roommates living in the same house. Please behave yourself, CEO Xi!”
With that, she turned and headed upstairs without a second glance. The little fluffball system shook its head secretly.
“Xi Zhenyi is really not getting the hang of this.”
“Exactly! Look at how Chu Wen chases Jiang Niannian, then look at CEO Xi. Ha! One text makes me run back, and then nothing! How could she think that was okay!”
Nan Zhi stomped into the dressing room to change into a new set of pajamas.
“Looking like this, how can she compete with Chu Wen to win over Jiang Niannian?”
Nan Zhi cursed under her breath. What a teammate! The fluffball curled its lip, knowing the truth but keeping silent. Actually, it is more about how she can catch you!
Downstairs, Xi Zhenyi was shivering with cold. Butler Wu eventually could not stand it and asked if she wanted to turn off the air conditioning. Xi Zhenyi looked lost. “Will it be okay if I turn it off? She will not get angry again, will she?”
Butler Wu gave a wry smile. “Well.”
Xi Zhenyi waved her hand. “Forget it, leave it on. I will go upstairs and change.”
Unexpectedly, as she reached the top of the stairs, Nan Zhi opened her door just as she was passing. They came face to face. Xi Zhenyi tried to smile, but Nan Zhi’s expression turned icy.
“Why is the air conditioning still on? Are you trying to freeze me to death?”
Thump! The bedroom door was slammed shut. Xi Zhenyi stood in silence for a few seconds, then leaned over the railing and shouted downstairs, “Butler! Turn off the air conditioning!”
She was never going to provoke this “short tempered” Nan Zhi again!
An hour later, the two sat at opposite ends of a long table for a “candlelight dinner.” Xi Zhenyi had specifically changed into a low cut red velvet dress; its slim fit perfectly showcased her exquisite figure. However, she had not expected Nan Zhi to still be wearing her second set of loungewear. The contrast between their styles was too great, creating a bizarre scene.
Xi Zhenyi asked awkwardly, “Should I go change?”
“Does CEO Xi want me to sit here and wait for you to finish changing before I can eat?” Nan Zhi gave a thin smile.
If she had gone to eat with Chu Yue, she would have finished eating and been out shopping by now. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She had passed up a grand meal just for this? A steak prepared by the chef at home? Xi Zhenyi, you are something else.
“Fine, fine. I will not change. Shall we eat?”
Nan Zhi gave a mocking laugh, picked up her knife and fork, and stabbed the beef with force. Xi Zhenyi, having a wife is truly a gift from the original author! To hell with Jiang Niannian and unrequited love! With your skills, it would be a miracle if you ever got that “little white flower”!
The more Nan Zhi thought about it, the more she felt she had a long road ahead of her. Her expression as she chewed the beef grew increasingly fierce, as if she wanted to swallow a whole cow. Xi Zhenyi could not help but glance at the central air conditioning. It was not even on. Why was it so cold? She looked down at her dress straps and low cut design with an open back. It hit her instantly: she was wearing far too little for the spring!
After dinner, the servants cleared the plates. Nan Zhi leaned back lazily, waiting for Xi Zhenyi’s next move. Xi Zhenyi stood up and summoned her courage. “Um, do you want to go see a movie together?”
How cliché. Nan Zhi curled her lip in distaste, but at least it bordered on an actual date. She nodded and stood up to go change.
“Wait, where are you going?”
Nan Zhi stood on the stairs, looking bewildered. “Are we not going to the movies?”
Xi Zhenyi was stunned for a moment, then laughed. Meeting Nan Zhi’s gaze, she immediately wiped the smile off her face. “You do not need to change. We are not going out.”
Nan Zhi raised an eyebrow. Xi Zhenyi asked, “Have you never looked next door?”
Next door? Seeing Nan Zhi’s confusion, Xi Zhenyi felt a strange sensation. Why did she find this “little firecracker” quite cute when the fuse was out? She shook her head vigorously to clear those thoughts and reached out to Nan Zhi. “Come with me?”
How could Miss Nan be so accommodating? She lifted her chin proudly and put her hands behind her back. “Lead the way.”
Fine. Xi Zhenyi awkwardly retracted her hand, patted her leg, and led the way. They took the elevator down to the second basement level and walked to the end of the collection room.
Nan Zhi frowned. “You call this “next door”?”
Xi Zhenyi smirked. “Do not be in a hurry.” She reached out and pushed against the wall. A second later, the entire wall shifted slightly.
“When I first started, I bought two villas. The gardens above are connected, but for convenience, I had the second basement level connected too. Right through here is a home theater.”
Nan Zhi frowned. “Is no one living there? Is it cleaned regularly?”
Xi Zhenyi’s hand paused. She laughed guiltily. “It is cleaned. Butler Liu, who comes three times a week, brings people to clean it.”
Nan Zhi grew even more unhappy. Why had she never known about this? Even if the original owner did not like going out, why did Xi Zhenyi not tell her when she moved in? Xi Zhenyi felt a secret panic. She dug through her memories and realized she really had never mentioned this to Nan Zhi. This villa was supposed to be their wedding home, yet she had never once given Nan Zhi a complete tour. If this “little ancestor” realized that, she would be dead meat!
So, Xi Zhenyi quickly found a topic: “What kind of movies do you like?”
Although it was an underground corridor, the wealthy did not disappoint; the corridor was built high and resplendent all the way. Nan Zhi looked up and could even see a large tank of plump koi carp through a transparent ceiling, wagging their tails at her. It was strange. The original owner had lived here for three years and had never once been here. Xi Zhenyi definitely forgot to introduce it! What a jerk!
Nan Zhi snorted. “Does CEO Xi not like literary romance films? Just pick one.”
Xi Zhenyi paused. “How do you know I like romance films?” To her recollection, she had never mentioned this to Nan Zhi.
Nan Zhi snorted again. Because she rarely saw Xi Zhenyi, the original owner had to obtain information about her wife’s preferences through various reports and interviews. “CEO Xi does not need to worry about how I know. You should wonder why you do not know what kind of movies I like.”
Reaching the theater entrance, Nan Zhi pushed open the heavy door. Although it was a home theater, the interior was completely different from a regular cinema. A small screen was at the front, followed by wide wooden steps. However, the middle of these steps was wrapped in comfortable materials, feeling soft underfoot like a bean bag sofa.
“Hey, you have to be care. Ful!”
The pitch of her last word suddenly rose. Before the sentence was finished, Nan Zhi’s left foot slipped. Her center of gravity shifted, and she was about to fall. A hand from behind grabbed her, but it failed to hold her!
Nan Zhi: ? Xi Zhenyi: !
In a flash, the owner of that hand lunged forward. An arm wrapped around Nan Zhi, and a palm pressed tightly against the back of Nan Zhi’s head, tucking her face against her chest. The two rolled all the way to the bottom level before stopping. The fall was actually fine; the soft pads meant it did not hurt much. However, at the very end, Nan Zhi clearly heard a muffled grunt of pain through skin and bone.
The touch against her face was extremely soft. Her nose caught a faint scent of white tea body wash hidden beneath the perfume, the same one she used. Because she was lying on top of Xi Zhenyi, their legs were intertwined and their bodies were pressed tightly together. Even through their clothes, they could feel the heat radiating from each other. The person beneath her was gasping for air, yet her hands still held her tightly, as if using her own body to shield Nan Zhi from harm.
Nan Zhi was silent for a moment. Just as she was about to speak, that muffled voice from across her chest sounded again: “Are you okay, wife?”
Nan Zhi: …
“Let go.”
Only then did Xi Zhenyi realize their posture. Nan Zhi was pressed against her chest! Because the dress was so slim fit, the hem was also tight against her body, and Nan Zhi’s leg was pressed firmly against her thigh.
Holy crap! Why is this so intimate?
“Xi Zhenyi, you are about to crush my head.”
Wait, why say it so terrifyingly! Xi Zhenyi snapped back to reality; her hands making a judgment before her brain did. She shoved Nan Zhi away and pulled herself back, accidentally straining the injury on her back, causing her to hiss in pain several more times.
When she finally recovered, she looked up at Nan Zhi. Nan Zhi remained in the position where she had been “tossed” onto the floor, but her fists were clenched.
Xi Zhenyi’s heart skipped a beat. “Are. Are you okay?”
Miss Nan slowly climbed to her feet and gave a thin smile. The warm light hit her face, making her skin look like a soft little puff.
“What do you think? Wi. Fe.”
CEO Xi’s Diary: April 19, 2026. Sunny. Today, I had a strong physical collision with my wife. I injured my back and cannot write my diary.
Nan Zhi’s Text: Xi Zhenyi, do not look for trouble.
