- Chapter 6 - You Really Harbor Ill Intentions Toward Me
Liang Ling was slightly startled, then politely waved his hand and said, “No, thank you. I do not play as a hired hand.”
Ye Wanqing felt a bit regretful and wanted to say more, but Lu Ming blocked him like he was facing a formidable enemy, shouting, “What are you doing? My brother already said he is not willing, so are you trying to force a sale? Besides, my brother’s skills are so good that he will sooner or later be invited by a professional team to play in the league. He certainly does not care about being a hired hand.”
When Ye Wanqing heard this, it turned out that Liang Ling wanted to become a professional player. He was secretly pleased, the corners of his lips curling up slightly as he pulled a business card from his pocket and handed it to him, saying, “Alright. This is my studio’s business card. If you change your mind later, please contact me, alright?”
Liang Ling took it, looked at the large characters “Ye Xuan” on the card, lifted his gaze, and said indifferently, “Alright, thank you, Mr. Ye.”
Ye Wanqing smiled and took out his phone to open WeChat. “By the way, what is your surname? May I add you on WeChat?”
Lu Ming stared at him with full vigilance, feeling more and more that this sanctimonious pretty boy was a liar. To his shock, Liang Ling foolishly went ahead and added him on WeChat, making Lu Ming so angry he wanted to scream, only to have Liang Ling cover his mouth.
“See you around.” Ye Wanqing gave the two a slight nod, turned around, and walked out of the internet cafe together with Lin Chen, who had been waiting nearby for a while.
Lin Chen turned his head to look at the two people still muttering in place, and amusedly asked, “Why did you not just say that you are God Ye and that the studio is your own? He definitely would have agreed on the spot.”
Ye Wanqing took off his mask, took a brief breath of fresh air, and glanced sideways at him. “How could I have that much charm? Besides, I am still going through labor arbitration with the league, and the exact situation is up in the air. The fewer people who know about the studio, the better.”
Lin Chen nodded and patted his shoulder with a sigh.
Ye Wanqing smiled and put his mask back on. His sapphire-like, translucent eyes shone brightly, looking as though he had spotted a glimmer of hope at the end of a desperate path. “We need to keep a close eye on such a civilian expert. Who knows, he might be able to play as a starter in the future.”
Lin Chen nodded silently without answering.
On the other side, Lu Ming was furiously searching online for this studio named “rebirth”, discovering that its location was right in City A, founded not too long ago, participating in some small offline matches, and incidentally running boosting and gaming companion services with quite good review feedback.
“It looks like Mr. Ye is not a liar. They really seem to be hiring people,” Liang Ling said after reading through it, turning to look at the frowning Lu Ming.
Lu Ming clicked his tongue, cupped Liang Ling’s face, and said with complete earnestness, “Brother, do not let immediate small gains blind your eyes. You are destined to play professionally in the future.”
Amused, Liang Ling pushed his hand away. “You are talking nonsense again.”
The hour was getting late, so Liang Ling sent Lu Ming back to the shop. When Lu San questioned where they had gone, Liang Ling guiltily fabricated a lie, thereby saving Lu Ming’s life.
After finishing all of this, it was already nearly ten o’clock.
Liang Ling dragged his exhausted body up to the second floor and returned to his narrow, crowded utility room. Because it was damp and poorly ventilated year-round, there was always a mildew smell inside, giving Liang Ling the false impression that he was beginning to mold as well.
He collapsed onto the soft little bed, blankly staring at the dim, swaying lightbulb on the ceiling.
“Ding.”
His phone vibrated. Liang Ling picked it up, took a look, and instantly held his breath. After hesitating for a moment, he answered, “Hello, President Wen?”
Wen Ming smiled on the other end and asked casually, “Hello? Mr. Liang, where are you?”
Hearing him ask that, Liang Ling instantly grew a bit nervous and hurriedly explained, “President Wen, please do not worry. I will return the money to you as soon as I get my salary this month.”
Wen Ming paused, realizing that Liang Ling had misunderstood, and chuckled. “I did not mean that. I was too busy earlier and forgot, but I wanted to ask if you have found your family yet?”
Seeing that Wen Ming cared about him so much, Liang Ling scratched his head with some embarrassment and casually made up a lie, “It is fine, President Wen. Actually, my parents have passed away, and I work alone in this city. Last time, I was just delirious from the fever.”
Wen Ming was startled and felt a wave of pity. “Is that so? What a pity. Then where is Mr. Liang working now?”
Liang Ling answered truthfully, “San-ge Mala Tang next to S Middle School.”
Hearing this, Wen Ming nodded. “As long as you have a place to go, that is good. Mr. Liang, you must take care of your health from now on and stop collapsing on the street. It is very dangerous.”
Care from a stranger is always easy to find touching. Liang Ling sniffled and smiled. “Mm, thank you, President Wen.”
“Oh, by the way,” Wen Ming suddenly remembered something. “I almost forgot. That Lingyue Bay Mr. Liang mentioned last time, I found it. Are you still interested in going to take a look?”
“What did you say?” Liang Ling was so shocked his tone changed pitch entirely, and he sprang up from the bed like a spring. “You found Lingyue Bay?”
Wen Ming smiled. “Yes. If you want to go, share your location with me, and I will come pick you up.”
Liang Ling obediently followed his instructions, and Wen Ming quickly sent a message: “Downstairs in ten minutes.”
Liang Ling replied with an “okay,” holding his phone excitedly while his whole body trembled slightly.
Though he had long since given up hope, hearing the name of his hometown still made him harbor a sliver of wishful thinking to go and see.
He dressed up again, afraid that his current image looked too sloppy, even fixing his hairstyle slightly before walking slowly downstairs.
At this hour, the Lu father and son were either holed up in a room watching TV or playing with their phones. The shop was completely empty, which spared him the trouble of explaining.
Stepping out of the shop, he indeed saw a car parked at the entrance. The window rolled down, and Wen Ming looked at him with a smile.
“What are you standing there frozen for? Get in the car.”
Liang Ling awkwardly climbed into the passenger seat, and the moment he turned his head, he was enveloped by the crisp Longjing fragrance. His breath hitched abruptly, and his entire face flushed bright red. Although the two of them had not actually experienced anything, his pheromones seemed to have recognized Wen Ming, making his heart race inexplicably every time he got close to him.
He felt utterly embarrassed, but the culprit remained completely oblivious as he leaned over, sniffing around Liang Ling’s collar and asking in puzzlement, “So fragrant. Do you really love drinking sparkling water? Peach flavor?”
This action was far too dangerous for an Omega, causing him to spring up from his seat, panic-stricken as he tried to open the door and flee. However, the car doors were already securely locked. After struggling in vain a few times, he could only turn his head back with tear-filled eyes, looking at Wen Ming as if begging for mercy.
Wen Ming was startled and completely baffled. “What is wrong with you?”
Liang Ling’s face burned as red as dripping blood, and he buried his head deep into his chest to play the ostrich.
Seeing him like this, Wen Ming’s gaze inevitably drifted downward to a certain area he was futilely trying to cover, and he suddenly understood something. With a dark complexion, he said, “Mr. Liang, you truly harbor ill intentions toward me.”
“No, I am not.” Liang Ling genuinely wanted to slap himself twice. He turned slightly sideways to block it and said with bashful embarrassment, “I am not going anymore. Let me out of the car.”
In this posture, his slender waist beneath the thin shirt was exposed to full view. Wen Ming swallowed hard, feeling his throat go dry, but still tried his best to comfort him, “We are both adults. Having some desires is completely normal. There is nothing to be ashamed of.”
Liang Ling silently shook his head, still not daring to look him in the eye.
Wen Ming had no choice but to turn him back around, frowning as he helped him find relief.
“Don’t, Wen Ming!” Liang Ling screamed, grabbing onto his sleeve for dear life and biting his lower lip until he was on the verge of tears. Yet, he still could not resist the man’s superb technique, melting into his arms within a few strokes and crying out of breath.
Wen Ming pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands and asked with a completely flat expression, “Mm? What is wrong?” as if what just happened had not been done by him at all.
Liang Ling was startled and wanted to say something, but Wen Ming quickly chimed in with a smile, “It is fine. You are quite fast, it took no effort at all.”
The sentence choked Liang Ling until his face and neck turned red. Wanting to scold him but feeling too ashamed to speak, he could only cross his arms and sulk.
Wen Ming glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, the corners of his lips curling upward on their own accord.
The car drove into a place resembling a resort. Liang Ling pressed against the window, eagerly peering around. Unfortunately, he did not recognize a single one of these buildings. As expected, this Lingyue Bay had nothing to do with the Empire’s Lingyue Bay.
Though he was mentally prepared, Liang Ling still felt deeply disappointed.
“Get out, we have arrived.” Wen Ming very gently opened the passenger door for him. Liang Ling hesitated for a moment, then took the hand offered to him and slowly stepped out of the car.
