Chapter 85: She Wanted to Tear This Person to Shreds
Jin City has four distinct seasons. As autumn deepened, two autumn rains fell, and the weather instantly turned cold.
Song Xiangwan wore a down jacket, sitting on a camping chair behind the monitor, discussing the script for the next scene with the screenwriter.
Cheng Yu walked out from the set and clicked her tongue: “CEO Ming didn’t come today?”
“No,” Song Xiangwan pursed her lips, a slight worry in her eyes. It had been raining these two days, and Ming Jin hadn’t slept well all last night.
She insisted on accompanying her to the set, but Song Xiangwan repeatedly ordered her to stay home and rest.
Perhaps Cheng Yu noticed something, because today’s wrap-up was exceptionally early. At 5:00 PM, she finished all of Song Xiangwan’s scenes ahead of schedule and let her go.
Hengwu City was a building complex in the center of Jin City, notable for its convenient transportation but less so for its amenities. The units weren’t very large, with two households per floor.
Song Xiangwan put on her mask and got into the elevator, where she unexpectedly met an acquaintance. Lele happily greeted her: “Sister Wanwan, you live here too?”
“Yes… What a coincidence…” Song Xiangwan saw their large bags and packages, suggesting they had just moved in.
Lele didn’t have any announcements today.
“Hello, Teacher Song,” Lele’s mother nodded in greeting to Song Xiangwan and said, “Our previous rental agreement expired, and we happened to rent a place here. We moved in today.”
“Which floor?” Song Xiangwan asked casually as she pressed the elevator button.
“The 8th floor,” Lele’s mother replied. “Thank you, Teacher Song.”
“That really is a coincidence,” Song Xiangwan smiled and withdrew her hand. “I live on the 8th floor too.”
“Wow, then we’ll be neighbors! Sister Wanwan, can I come over to your house to play?” Lele sounded very excited by the news.
“Lele…” Lele’s mother gently admonished her, then smiled and said, “I’m sorry, Teacher Song, we will try our best not to disturb your life.”
In the entertainment industry, it sounded impolite for a junior to so enthusiastically invite themselves to a senior’s home.
But fortunately, Lele was a child, and Song Xiangwan got along well with her: “It’s fine, Lele’s mom. You can come over whenever you have time.”
Song Xiangwan didn’t particularly like children, but Lele was an exception. She had high emotional intelligence, was sweet-talking and pleasing, and didn’t cause trouble, despite her young age working in the industry. So, Song Xiangwan felt somewhat fond of her.
Furthermore, Song Xiangwan wasn’t keeping a secret lover. The entire crew knew that “Teacher Song’s girlfriend” accompanied her to the set every day.
The elevator arrived. Song Xiangwan held down the door-open button: “You move your things. I’ll hold the door for you.”
After watching Lele’s mother and Lele move their belongings into their apartment, Song Xiangwan opened her own door.
Pushing the door open, she was greeted by the aroma of food. It smelled like braised spare rib soup, the fragrant steam bubbling and lingering in the kitchen.
“You’re back?” Aunt Liu walked out of the kitchen, holding a small bowl. “Xiangwan, could you taste this and see if the soup is salty enough?”
Song Xiangwan took a sip and nodded in satisfaction: “It’s delicious, just right. Aunt Liu, your cooking is wonderful.”
She didn’t know where Ming Jin had found this housekeeper. She was efficient, didn’t talk nonsense, and her cooking skills were exceptional.
With the kitchen running, the presence of domestic warmth made the place feel very much like a home.
Although they hadn’t lived there long, there was a rug they had bought together on the floor, fresh flowers were always in the vase by the entrance, and photos of the two of them were already hanging on the wall… Coming home to the smell of food and the warm glow of the lights felt instantly peaceful and comfortable.
Song Xiangwan took off her jacket, washed her hands, and then pushed open the bedroom door and walked in.
“Mhm…” The person, half-asleep, let out a soft murmur, then slowly returned to consciousness, whispering, “Did you finish work?”
Even though they used the same toiletries, Ming Jin’s scent somehow felt different from her own, exceptionally pleasant.
A biological attraction, a desire to smell her, a desire to bite her.
“What did you eat for lunch?” Song Xiangwan held Ming Jin like this, burying her nose in her, asking softly, “Did you rest well?”
“I ate chicken, and fish…” Ming Jin nodded. “I rested very well.”
Song Xiangwan’s hand had already slipped under her clothes, pressing against her waist, gently rubbing: “Does it still hurt?”
She had been in so much pain last night that she couldn’t sleep, but she didn’t say anything until the morning when Song Xiangwan saw her pale face and questioned her.
“It’s fine,” Ming Jin’s tone was light.
Not saying “it doesn’t hurt” meant she wasn’t lying.
It really was fine. She was used to it. The slight aching when it rained wasn’t particularly hard for her to bear.
“I checked the weather forecast. The weather in Jin City won’t be good these days. How about…” Song Xiangwan began.
“No going back,” Ming Jin whispered, leaning slightly into Song Xiangwan’s arms, looking somewhat dependent. “It’s nice here.”
“Wanwan, I’m not going back.” Her voice was very soft, almost like a child’s stubborn plea for candy.
The hard shell that CEO Ming wore outside peeled off unconsciously in front of Song Xiangwan, making her seem like a completely different person from the CEO Ming outside.
Song Xiangwan’s heart immediately softened. She gently kissed the person in her arms: “Alright, alright, no going back.”
“If you don’t go back, you have to be obedient.” Song Xiangwan’s kneading was gentle. Her fingertips traced the skin, caught the thin shoulder strap, and gave a light tug.
With a hint of playful punishment, she bit Ming Jin’s shoulder through her clothes: “You weren’t good this afternoon. You were secretly looking at files.”
She took another bite.
“Don’t rush. You have time to look slowly. If you don’t have time, just dump them on Sister Cao. You pay her so much salary; you’re not keeping her to do nothing.”
Ming Jin was helpless: “Aunt Liu was clearly the person I hired. How did you bribe her so quickly?”
“That’s because I’m the head of the household,” Song Xiangwan said proudly.
But after saying it, she sounded like a paper tiger, threatening: “Aren’t I?”
“Yes, yes, yes…” Ming Jin laughed softly. “If you want to be, the position is yours. Why are you suddenly getting a taste for authority?”
“You admitted it, so I’m in charge of this house,” Song Xiangwan blinked.
“Head of the household, what is the first thing you’re going to decide now?” Ming Jin teased.
“It’s…” Song Xiangwan’s fingertips hooked the thin shoulder strap, twirling it. She lowered her head, bit down, and her tongue gently traced the skin. “Guess?”
“Did you hear that? Dinner’s ready,” Ming Jin reached out and pressed Song Xiangwan’s forehead. It tickled slightly, and the licking tongue made her nowhere to hide.
“Bad woman…” Song Xiangwan muttered, but quickly got up and turned on the bedside lamp.
She helped Ming Jin sit up, draped a coat over her, lowered her head, and buttoned up her shirt one by one.
She looked up, demanded a kiss, and then held her to settle her into the wheelchair.
“The apartment is still too small…” Song Xiangwan couldn’t help but whisper.
It was indeed too small. She was always worried the sound insulation wasn’t good, and that Aunt Liu might hear them doing things.
“I rented an apartment for Aunt Liu downstairs. She’ll move out tonight,” Ming Jin poked her forehead. “Alright, happy now?”
“How do you know me so well…” Song Xiangwan leaned in, her nose touching Ming Jin’s nose. She blinked gently, her eyelashes brushing Ming Jin’s eyelashes.
Ming Jin’s lips curled up slightly. She reached out and held the back of Song Xiangwan’s head, pulling her in for a deep kiss.
Their lips parted slightly, gently grinding and intertwining. It was a lingering kiss where their breaths mingled. Their lips turned slightly red and glistening. They separated gently.
But they didn’t keep Aunt Liu waiting too long. The two of them came out, and the food was already laid out on the table.
Song Xiangwan kept her eyes on Ming Jin while she ate, serving her food, but in the end, she felt Ming Jin hadn’t eaten much.
After the rain, the injured parts of her body always felt uncomfortable, which naturally affected her appetite.
“What should we do tonight? Watch that movie we didn’t finish last night?” Ming Jin suggested.
“We can…” Song Xiangwan nodded. Her phone on the table suddenly buzzed twice. She glanced at it, her expression turning hesitant.
“Something wrong?” Ming Jin asked.
“Mhm,” Song Xiangwan nodded. “Someone wants to meet me.”
“Then we’ll watch it tomorrow.” Ming Jin wasn’t insistent, nor did she ask who Song Xiangwan was going to meet.
Song Xiangwan left after dinner. She didn’t use the family driver, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for a bar in the commercial district.
The bar area was bustling. Cars came and went, and people went in and out. The sound of music was audible from a distance.
Song Xiangwan weaved through the crowd and found the person she was looking for based on the table number on her phone. She greeted her: “Sister Lin…”
Jiang Lin must have already had a couple of drinks. She was leaning against a cushion, her eyes slightly glazed with alcohol. A clean, fresh young star was snuggled up next to her. They were chatting about something, both wearing bright, happy smiles.
The young stars in the circle certainly recognized Song Xiangwan, especially the young man leaning on Jiang Lin. He immediately stood up: “Teacher Song.”
“All of you,” Jiang Lin raised her voice, pointing to the group around them, “Go dance. I need to talk to Xiangwan.”
“Go, go, go, don’t just stand around.” After speaking, she urged them on.
Everyone was slightly stunned. They all knew that attending Jiang Lin’s gathering was for networking. They thought Song Xiangwan was their networking opportunity today.
But… Jiang Lin’s meaning was that she wouldn’t let them near her?
After dismissing everyone, Jiang Lin quickly pulled her coat on over herself, called a waiter, and ordered… hot milk for Song Xiangwan.
Her hair was tied up, her jacket was buttoned tightly, the alcohol was cleared away, and she was behaving extremely properly.
Song Xiangwan: “…” If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes just now, she wouldn’t believe it was the same person.
Jiang Lin propped her chin up with one hand and clicked her tongue: “We’ll leave as soon as we finish talking. I won’t lead you astray.”
Song Xiangwan: “…” Although she didn’t know what had happened, she could roughly guess.
“I heard Sister Lin has connections on the dark web,” Song Xiangwan didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
“Heh, planning to do something shady?” Jiang Lin raised her eyebrows slightly. “I can’t do that. I don’t want to die early.”
Ming Jin had clearly taught her an unforgettable lesson. Even now, she was cautious and reserved when facing Song Xiangwan.
“It’s nothing shady,” Song Xiangwan took a piece of paper from her bag and handed it over. “Could you find a way to help me check this phone number?”
“Harassment call?” Jiang Lin took it, frowning slightly.
She had done this often. Many people in the industry suffered from sasaeng harassment. Finding the person behind it would be a permanent solution.
“No,” Song Xiangwan shook her head and said, “This number is currently inactive.”
“I want to know who the owner of this number was three years ago.”
“It’s no longer in use…” Jiang Lin twirled the paper gently between her fingers, frowning. “That will be a little more troublesome.”
“How about this, you tell me the exact time, and I’ll try my best to help you check.” Jiang Lin put the paper away and looked at Song Xiangwan with a smile. “You’re the one who sought me out. You must explain clearly to your CEO Ming. I didn’t actively provoke you…”
Song Xiangwan: “…” She was truly curious about what kind of lesson Jiang Lin had learned.
This person, who used to be so open, was now so restrained in front of her.
Song Xiangwan didn’t stay long. She picked up the milk on the table, drank it in one gulp, and then stood up to leave.
A light drizzle was falling outside. Song Xiangwan opened her ride-hailing app, but before she could order a taxi, a car slowly stopped in front of her.
The rear window rolled down. Song Xiangwan’s heart skipped a beat: “Ah Jin~”
“Get in the car.” Seeing the traces of water on her hair, Ming Jin subtly frowned.
The distance from home was very short; one quick drive and they were back. Aunt Liu must have gone to rest already, and the house was quiet.
A book was half-open on the coffee table, held down by a metal bookmark. The snow pear tea in the cup was still slightly steaming.
“Go take a bath,” Ming Jin’s tone was light. She touched Song Xiangwan’s clothes. “You didn’t even bother to take an umbrella.”
“Okay…” Song Xiangwan nodded, obediently entering the bathroom.
She came out after blow-drying her hair and walked obediently over to Ming Jin, kneeling halfway down, looking pleadingly at Ming Jin: “Wife, Ah Jin…”
Ming Jin ignored her, not even lifting her eyelashes. The book in her hand quietly turned a page.
“I know,” Song Xiangwan lightly snorted, took her phone, and spun it between her fingers. “You installed a tracker, didn’t you?”
Ming Jin’s hand, flipping the page, subtly paused.
Song Xiangwan laughed out loud, leaned over, and kissed Ming Jin on the lips: “Bad woman, I caught you.”
She placed her palm on Ming Jin’s wrist, grasping it. She leaned in, brought her face close, and blinked: “You like me that much?”
“How about…” She held Ming Jin’s wrist and pressed it against the back of her neck. “How about installing a tracker chip here?”
“I saw that’s how other people raise their cats,” Song Xiangwan leaned in and kissed Ming Jin on the lips.
The book on Ming Jin’s lap slid off and hit the floor with a soft thud.
Ming Jin was lifted up. Song Xiangwan kicked open the bedroom door, placed Ming Jin on the bed, and looked down at her. Her hands rested on either side of Ming Jin, her eyes shining with starlight: “The head of the household is here.”
Her fingertips hooked Ming Jin’s shirt, gently unbuttoning it. She lowered her head and kissed her softly: “Ah Jin…”
Soft hair, the ends lightly brushing against the skin. Ming Jin’s breath slightly hitched. She reached out and wrapped her arms around Song Xiangwan’s slender, soft waist.
Pulling her close, the distance was infinitesimal. Ming Jin’s light brown eyes looked over. She gently eased her breathing and said: “Little cat, you’re changing the subject.”
“I’m serious,” Song Xiangwan looked at Ming Jin with an innocent expression.
“Here is also fine…” Song Xiangwan took Ming Jin’s hand and placed it on her chest. “Implant the tracking chip here. That way you’ll know wherever I go, okay?”
Her tone didn’t sound like dissatisfaction at all; rather, it held a slight anticipation.
The feeling in Ming Jin’s palm was soft and hot. Her eyes slightly darkened, and she whispered: “You really are…”
“A pervert?” Song Xiangwan chuckled, rubbing against Ming Jin in her arms. “It’s not the first day you’ve known me, bad woman. Not only monitoring, but tracking too.”
“I caught you, didn’t I?” She poked Ming Jin’s nose. Her finger moved to her neck and throat, tracing it gently.
The temperature rose slightly. Ming Jin’s kiss softly landed on Song Xiangwan’s cheek, right against her ear: “I’ll feed you first, and then I’ll settle the score with you.”
“Kneel,” the voice was faint.
Song Xiangwan pursed her lips, obediently kneeling on the bed. Ming Jin sat up, took hold of her waist, and pulled her forward slightly.
“Are you cheating?” Ming Jin’s tone was calm, sinking deeper. “Kneel properly.”
“You’re bullying me…” Even as Song Xiangwan said this, she knelt properly, her knees sinking into the quilt, leaving shallow indentations.
Being wronged was useless, and so was pouting. Song Xiangwan’s eyes were glistening with moisture. She couldn’t help but lean into Ming Jin’s arms.
A slight sniffle, a gentle bite, and just as she tightened her grip, she gasped and released slightly.
It was then that she remembered Ming Jin’s injury. She reached around Ming Jin’s back and lightly hugged her waist.
The slight support for her lower back softened Ming Jin’s eyes slightly. She bit Song Xiangwan’s earlobe: “A cat that never learns…”
Song Xiangwan truly never learned. She thought she would be fine if she didn’t use the family car.
However, this didn’t seem like much of a punishment to her. She didn’t even dare to finish before begging for mercy carefully: “Ah Jin, stop now… just stop here… just here…”
Her voice was slightly trembling. She gently rubbed against Ming Jin’s shoulder, supported Ming Jin’s lower back, and pulled a pillow over, placing it behind Ming Jin’s back.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t continue. With the rain today, if Ming Jin sat up like this, her lower back would probably hurt again tonight.
Her pleading gaze was watery. She kissed Ming Jin gently on the chin. Her body pressed closer, gently pushing Ming Jin back against the pillow.
Leaning into Ming Jin’s arms, she sniffed lightly: “Alright, I’ve learned my lesson.”
“Really?” Ming Jin’s fingers gently twirled Song Xiangwan’s hair. She sighed. “Hand me your phone.”
“Why?” Song Xiangwan was confused, but still reached for it.
“I’m going to uninstall the tracking app,” Ming Jin said lightly.
“No,” Song Xiangwan immediately hugged her phone, pouting. “No, I’m keeping it. It’s great. I like it.”
Ming Jin: “…” She originally thought she was the abnormal one, but now she suddenly felt that Song Xiangwan wasn’t quite normal either.
But since she liked it, things would have to be this way for now.
Ming Jin didn’t reach for the phone. She just removed the protective finger cap and tossed it onto the bedside table: “Going to a bar, but not drinking. What were you doing there?”
Song Xiangwan: “…” So she was caught for drinking.
She should have known not to arrange to meet in a bar.
“I went to see…” Song Xiangwan cautiously glanced at Ming Jin and whispered, “I saw Jiang Lin.”
She immediately explained: “It was because I had something to do, not because I have a connection with her. I wanted to ask her to help me look into something.”
Things had reached this point. Song Xiangwan knew that investigating it herself was impossible. Now, she could only be honest.
However, she felt she still needed to phrase it tactfully.
Ming Jin didn’t say anything, just looked at her quietly, clearly waiting for her to confess further.
“I told you to control your emotions. I’m worried…” Song Xiangwan looked at Ming Jin with wide, pleading eyes, tightly holding Ming Jin’s hand.
“What is it?” Ming Jin was also starting to get confused by her. What could be so serious that she had to be so cautious?
Besides breaking up, was there anything else that could make her emotional?
Ming Jin thought this, then nodded: “Alright, tell me.”
She clearly overestimated her own psychological resilience. When she heard Song Xiangwan’s next words, she couldn’t help but slightly clench her fingers.
“Three years ago, on the day of your car accident, someone impersonated Ah Yan and called Director Cheng, finding out the address of the restaurant you had arranged to meet at.”
“If, and I mean if…”
“If the car accident wasn’t an accident?”
Ming Jin’s breathing suddenly hitched. She gently closed her eyes.
The thunderous crash seemed to explode in front of her again instantly. The car was crushed almost immediately and then rolled over.
“It’s fine.” Ming Jin opened her eyes. Her light brown eyes were calm, seemingly unperturbed.
The grief in her eyes just moments ago instantly transformed into self-composed calmness and controlling composure.
“You were going to meet Director Cheng, probably about Wild Rose…” At this point, Song Xiangwan’s heart couldn’t help but feel a little sore.
Cold war and arguments. She threw a tantrum and drove Ming Jin out.
Ming Jin’s first action was to go find Cheng Yu. She wanted to finalize the script and bring it to Song Xiangwan.
It was always like those arguments.
Song Xiangwan never needed to back down. Ming Jin would proactively back down, buy jewelry, scout good scripts, take her out to dinner… Ming Jin was always the one “apologizing.”
And this time, the car accident happened on the way to meet Cheng Yu.
“Not many people knew you were going to meet Director Cheng. It must be… someone close to you…” Song Xiangwan also felt a sting in saying these words.
“Mhm, I thought of that as soon as you said it,” Ming Jin’s tone, however, didn’t show excessive fluctuation.
“So, you took that phone number and asked Jiang Lin to help you find out who was behind it?”
“The person who called claimed to be Ah Yan, but I definitely don’t think it was Ah Yan,” Song Xiangwan said.
“It wasn’t Ah Yan,” Ming Jin’s tone was more certain.
“But this person tried to sow discord between Ah Yan and me…”
On the surface, Xu Zhiyan had reason to act. She and Ming Jin were sisters, but Ming Jin held all the power. Xu Zhiyan had nothing and was even sent abroad.
If Ming Jin were a suspicious person, with even a shred of distrust towards Xu Zhiyan, hearing that the call came from Xu Zhiyan would definitely raise some suspicion.
“No matter who it is, I’m here with you.”
“Why…” Ming Jin’s voice was soft, and a warm, wet sensation seemed to slip down Song Xiangwan’s collar.
Song Xiangwan felt her whole body tremble from the heat. She tightly hugged Ming Jin: “It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault, Ah Jin. I’m here.”
“Why me?” Ming Jin’s usual composure completely shattered the moment she spoke that sentence.
She lowered her head, her whole body slightly trembling. That car accident ruined everything for her. Why… why her?
“Ah Jin…” Song Xiangwan didn’t know how to comfort her. She just held her tightly, her palms gently rubbing in reassurance. Her own eyes were stinging with unshed tears.
Now, she felt a powerful, suffocating pressure in her chest.
If she found out who this person was, she would want to tear them to shreds.
