The Pampered Wife Has Decided to Divorce - Chapter 1
Another ordinary and wealthy day out of the three hundred and sixty-five.
Sang Li woke up from his six-meter-wide, handmade custom Italian designer bed. He rolled fifteen times from the center of the bed to the edge, struggled to support his aching lower back as he crawled out from under the covers, and rubbed his sleepy eyes.
The morning glow had already reached the city.
The corner of the sheer silk curtains in the spacious bedroom was fluttered by the morning breeze.
Looking out from this prime angle, one could just catch the warm morning sunlight in the distance and the iconic commercial CBD building cluster across the river.
This was a busy, ultra-first-tier city with prime real estate locations where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold.
Based on visual observation:
There was smog today.
Not ideal for going out.
Sang Li let out a massive yawn and decided to go back to sleep.
The bedroom door was opened very gently from the outside, and Sang Li, who had just secretly woken up, was caught red-handed by Jiang Xiucheng, who was about to leave.
“The baby is awake.”
Jiang Xiucheng was already dressed in a suit vest and a long coat. The soles of his shoes stepped across the old-money-style solid wood floor. With his long legs, he walked over to the bedside, scooped Sang Li out from under the covers, pulled him into his arms by his waist, and said, “Come give hubby a kiss.”
Sang Li’s lower back was extremely sore. He hung on like a sloth, closed his eyes, and said, “I’m not kissing, I’m asleep.”
However, refusing didn’t do much good.
Jiang Xiucheng would satisfy himself.
Looking utterly shameless, he kissed him ten times in a row, then rolled his Adam’s apple with lingering attachment and asked, “Was hubby’s kiss good or not?”
Sang Li reached out to push his face away. “You’re so annoying.”
The fingers stretched out near his mouth were delicate and tender, their tips still tinged with an unfaded pink.
Jiang Xiucheng took a lick of Sang Li’s hand and asked, “Why didn’t the baby stretch out the other hand?”
Sang Li: “What is it?”
Sang Li opened his eyes in despair. Wrapping his legs around Jiang Xiucheng’s waist, he whimpered, lowered his head, and took the initiative to share a long kiss with the man.
After a long while.
He finally nested softly in his husband’s arms and said, “I’m so tired, and my waist aches too. You’re so hateful.”
The floor heating in the bedroom was turned up high, enough to keep out the winter cold outside.
Jiang Xiucheng soothingly kissed away each of the marks he had left on Sang Li the night before one by one, and coaxed him in a low voice: “Then let’s not go out today, okay? I’ll have the masseur come over later, and have the luxury boutique bring over next season’s lookbooks for you to choose from.”
“Hmph.”
Sang Li kicked Jiang Xiucheng.
The kick failed; his foot was caught and then held in the palm of the man’s hand to play with.
Jiang Xiucheng extremely disliked and was unwilling to let Sang Li go out.
Though Sang Li didn’t know why either.
“Today doesn’t seem to work.”
Sang Li was still somewhat drowsy and not fully awake. He struggled for a long time without being able to pull his foot back, so he tried to crawl out of Jiang Xiucheng’s arms and back into the covers, saying, “Zai-zai has a parent-teacher meeting at school today.”
In this posture, his soft, white back and neck looked like a swan about to spread its wings.
Trapped within Jiang Xiucheng’s line of sight.
The man let him inch forward a little bit before gently catching his ankle at the very last second and pulling, causing both of them to tumble heavily back onto the bed.
Sang Li: “Ugh!”
Jiang Xiucheng’s breathing had already grown heavy.
His freed hand lifted Sang Li’s chin, and he pressed his entire body down. “Good baby, I’m not going to the company today. How about I stay home with you? We can watch your favorite movies together.”
Sang Li wouldn’t fall for the man’s nonsense. “I won’t. Aren’t you supposed to go on a business trip?”
Jiang Xiucheng held him tightly. “I can fly out tomorrow instead.”
“No, ugh, you promised yesterday. When you are on a business trip, I can, I can rest the whole time.”
Tears welled up in Sang Li’s eyes, making him look extremely aggrieved. “You said it, a man of his word, I’ll never believe you again!”
The indoor intercom phone by the large bed began to ring.
Hearing it like a savior calling out to him, Sang Li fumbled for it and answered immediately. Hearing what the other side said, his eyes lit up right away: “Got it, I know, he’s heading down right now!”
He hung up the phone.
Little stars of happiness danced in Sang Li’s eyes as he stretched his arms and legs to shoo Jiang Xiucheng away: “Aunt Zhang said the driver has arrived and asked if you’re ready. Hurry up.”
Jiang Xiucheng didn’t get up immediately.
He buried his face in the crook of Sang Li’s neck, closed his eyes to rest for a moment, took a deep breath, and only then got up, gently tapping the tip of Sang Li’s nose. “Bad kid.”
Sang Li quickly wrapped himself tightly in the quilt like a cocoon and earnestly protested: “I’m a good kid.”
“Yeah, you’re a good baby.”
The man kissed Sang Li for a little longer before finally getting up, looking back every three steps.
The coat and vest Jiang Xiucheng had been wearing were completely wrinkled.
He took them off and casually tossed them onto the sofa by the carpet, revealing his solid abdominal muscles and beautifully lined back muscles, before walking back into the walk-in closet to change his clothes.
Sang Li propped his chin with both hands, lay on the bed to admire the view for a while, and made an honest and sincere suggestion: “Hubby, could you go on business trips for a few days longer?”
Trying hard to recall some warped logic he had read on a certain book app.
Sang Li tried to persuade him: “Distance and space create beauty, and a harmonious and wonderful life requires us to build it together. Can we also do this?”
“No.”
Jiang Xiucheng ruthlessly shattered Sang Li’s dream. “Lily, your credit has long since gone bankrupt. Did you know that?”
Sang Li: “Are you serious?”
At that time, he had only wasted a tiny bit of time because he went to see a concert, took photos with a celebrity, and exchanged contact info, which caused him to come home late!
Sang Li glared angrily at Jiang Xiucheng, but a necktie was thrust into his hand.
“Help hubby put it on.”
Jiang Xiucheng said.
Sang Li hesitated for a few seconds, looked very vigilant, slowly and cautiously reached around Jiang Xiucheng’s neck, and tied a neat, beautiful knot for him.
“Baby is amazing.”
Jiang Xiucheng scooped up his coat, turned back around, and gave Sang Li another kiss. “If you don’t want to go to our son’s parent-teacher meeting, you don’t have to go. Just wait at home for hubby to come back. That string of deep-sea pearls you wanted at the Paris Sotheby’s has already been delivered, and I’ll bring it to you when I get back.”
Sang Li had been wanting that string of deep-sea pearls. Thinking about it, he obediently nodded.
Only then did Jiang Xiucheng go downstairs.
A moment later, from the second-floor vantage point, Jiang Xiucheng’s car could be seen driving out of the courtyard gates.
Sang Li boredly flipped through his phone. After a while, he heard a knock at the door.
“Daddy, can I come in?”
It was Jiang Yun.
Looking a bit puzzled, Sang Li hopped off the bed to open the door himself: “Zai-zai, aren’t you going to school today?”
Jiang Yun: “There’s a whole-school parent-teacher meeting tonight, and we need to prepare, so we have the day off.”
Sang Li: “I see.”
Sang Li was truly terrified of meeting teachers and attending parent-teacher meetings. Fortunately, Jiang Yun seemed to have inherited Jiang Xiucheng’s academic genes, skipping three grades in primary school and sparing him from the sheer, terrifying ordeal of being summoned to school as a parent to the maximum extent.
Jiang Yun attended a private elite school. From his primary school years up to middle school, Sang Li didn’t even know where the school gates opened; Jiang Xiucheng went to every single school activity.
Yet this time, the school teacher had specifically called, saying that an internationally renowned psychology professor had been specially invited to give a lecture at this parent-teacher meeting, so they hoped Sang Li could attend as well.
A school like that always had way too many things going on.
Sang Li felt rather troubled. Before he could manage to open his mouth after hesitating for a long time, Jiang Yun spoke up first, as if gathering all his courage: “Daddy, will you go to the school parent-teacher meeting this time? The teacher said they already called you.”
“I got first place on my exams this time too.”
Thinking for a moment, he added.
Jiang Yun was a very low-maintenance child. When he was little, he was a fair and tender glutinous rice ball; as he grew older, he blossomed into a fresh, tall, and straight high-school-style cool young man in the eyes of outsiders.
Yet Jiang Yun had been very clingy to Sang Li since he was little, while Sang Li knew very well how incredibly unreliable he was himself. Consequently, when looking at Jiang Yun, a trace of guilt was inevitable.
Sang Li tentatively asked: “Do you want me to go?”
“Yes!”
Jiang Yun instantly saw a glimmer of hope. “Father told me before that Daddy went to a top-two university in Country Y and was even an outstanding graduate of that year. My classmates say that school is super amazing, and anyone who graduates from it is extremely, extremely awesome!”
Sang Li’s heart turned to ashes, his voice sounding like a mosquito: “You can be an outstanding graduate too if you donate ten buildings.”
Jiang Yun didn’t catch it clearly: “Huh?”
“Nothing at all.”
Sang Li tried to find some plausible reasons or excuses: “If I go, won’t your classmates think it’s very strange for you to have one father and another daddy?”
Jiang Yun looked slightly confused: “What’s so strange about that? There are a lot of families like ours in our school. Daddy, your university is so impressive, you must have been a great student when you were in school, right?”
This world was still far too tolerant.
Besides, even a poor student had their pride.
Seeing that Sang Li was still hesitating, Jiang Yun gently tugged on his hand: “Daddy, this time it’s a lecture-style parent-teacher meeting for the whole school. The parents of the student ranked first in the grade get to sit in the front row. My classmates saw your photo in the admission booklet before, and they all said you look so pretty and want to sneak a peek at you. Will you go, please?”
Sang Li: “Unbelievable.”
Sang Li would absolutely never allow his hard-maintained image to be ruined.
He melancholically gazed 45 degrees up at the sky for a moment: “Got it, kid. Your outstanding and amazing Daddy will be there on time for your parent-teacher meeting.”
He was still just a child, after all.
Jiang Yun couldn’t hide his excitement at all, and happily ran into Sang Li’s arms: “Daddy, really?”
“Really.”
Sang Li rubbed Jiang Yun’s face. “Don’t worry, I’ll go get ready right now.”
“Then I’ll go to school to help the teachers set up the classroom.”
Jiang Yun dashed out in a flash. “Daddy, remember it’s the sixth-floor school auditorium, be on time!”
Sang Li: “Got it.”
The huge bedroom, returning to silence, was filled only with an atmosphere of sorrow.
The little sweet potato plushie was no longer fun to look at, and Douyin couldn’t hold his interest either. He burrowed under the covers, crawled back out, and rolled ninety-nine and eighty-one times across the large bed, but he still couldn’t escape the shadow of the parent-teacher meeting.
Preparing was simply out of the question.
He had flipped through Jiang Yun’s textbooks yesterday; Sang Li couldn’t understand why first-year middle school students nowadays had to study functions and solid geometry.
And wasn’t that textbook text they had to memorize just a bit way, way, way too long?
He didn’t know this concept, and he didn’t know that concept either.
What to do, what to do, what to do?
Sang Li was so afraid that after he finished attending the parent-teacher meeting, Jiang Yun’s school official account would publish an article titled My Illiterate Father and Me.
He lay flat on the bed in a starfish shape.
Sang Li stared blankly at the ceiling, trying hard to comfort himself: Since it was a whole-school parent-teacher meeting and a lecture format anyway, he probably just needed to sit in the back and scroll through his phone.
Surely a lecture wouldn’t involve calling people out to answer questions?
Sang Li decided to spend the afternoon doing some psychological preparation, but after preparing for a little while, he fell fast asleep.
With a blink of an eye, after a baby-like exquisite sleep, there were only two hours left until the parent-teacher meeting.
He was still in his pajamas.
He hadn’t had time for psychological preparation.
Oh, fudge.
Nor had he had time to style himself.
This wouldn’t do.
Even if he was a bimbo.
He was going to be a pretty bimbo.
With no time left for psychological preparation, Sang Li leaped up in one smooth motion and bolted toward the luxury boutique.
