The Only Ultimate Alpha in the Universe - Chapter 25
Xiao Sa arched an eyebrow. Want, want what?
The big cat battle pet? Of course he wanted it!
But his intuition told him that Landis’s hesitant, lingering expression wasn’t referring to that. Could it be that there was more than just a mental link between a spiritual body and its master?
He badly wanted to summon Hino to ask for details, but now was clearly not the time.
Landis gazed at his face. Xiao Sa had sharp, sword-like brows and bright eyes, a high bridge to his nose, and lips that felt warm and soft when kissed. His well-defined features radiated a vibrant, heroic aura, and his skin was without a single flaw.
Such a handsome, young man, how unfortunate it was that he hadn’t been blessed by the heavens, born with a mental disability. It truly was a pity.
Landis touched his own cheek. He was already over thirty and spent his years immersed in demanding work. Most of his excess energy was vented through high-intensity daily training or slaughter on the battlefield; he had long passed the age of craving carnal desires.
But Xiao Sa was only in his early twenties, an age of peak vitality. It was only natural for him to pursue physical pleasure.
If a newlywed husband couldn’t satisfy him, was he supposed to wait for his young partner to get lonely and go “hunting” outside for a fix?
Landis walked over to Xiao Sa and ruffled his short, chestnut-brown hair.
“Are you blaming me for being too busy with work and not having time for you? Did it make you feel lonely?”
“…” Xiao Sa raised an eyebrow. Not at all; he had been having the time of his life petting the “fluffball.”
Moreover, why did Landis keep trying to pet his head? That gesture always made him feel like he was being looked down upon.
Xiao Sa tilted his head, grabbing Landis’s hand to move it away.
He could pet the cat, but he had no desire to be petted as a cat, thank you very much.
Upset after all?
Landis sighed inwardly. After a moment’s thought, he said:
“You might not be fully aware, but the situation regarding military spouses suffering from pollution and infection is becoming increasingly severe, especially for high-ranking officers. You are still young and don’t understand the treachery of Xenomorphosis. Furthermore, you are even more… than others.”
The warning from the Healer, Kate, was still fresh in his mind. After seeing the latest infection statistics at the military meeting today, his worries felt more justified than ever.
Given Xiao Sa’s mental strength—or lack thereof—his risks would be even higher than the average person’s.
That being the case, it was best not to proceed with a “Deep Bond” (full sexual union) so early. However, trying out a few other “varieties” of intimacy was acceptable.
Landis left his sentence unfinished, frowning slightly. Skipping the sensitive topic, he used as light a tone as possible and said, “Go eat dinner first. I will keep you company properly tonight.”
He brushed back the hair at Xiao Sa’s temple, his rough thumb grazing Xiao Sa’s ear before lightly sliding down the side of his neck. Leaning down, he lowered his voice beside Xiao Sa’s ear:
“Tonight, after you’ve showered, wait for me in bed.”
Having said his piece, he headed to the dining room to arrange dinner.
He left Xiao Sa standing alone in the study, dazed for a moment. The skin on his earlobe and the side of his neck near the gland—the spots Landis had just touched—slowly began to heat up.
He blinked. “Is Landis… demanding that I fulfill my marital obligations? But didn’t I just mark him once last night? He even fainted from it. He’s coming back for more today?”
Could Landis’s body even handle it if he injected his high-concentration S-rank Alpha pheromones multiple times in such a short period?
“Hino, did I miss something?”
Hino spread his hands. 【Instead of tutoring you on mecha courses, you should really learn some of the basic physiological common sense of this place. Marital obligations aren’t just about biting necks.】
Xiao Sa looked at him with a strange expression. “Are you talking about the reproductive cavity? But Landis isn’t an Omega; he doesn’t have one. In this star sector, only women have those, right?”
With his meager knowledge of AO physiology, he only vaguely remembered his teachers saying that entering an Omega’s reproductive cavity could lead to pregnancy. But Landis didn’t have that physiological structure. That being the case, shouldn’t biting the neck be enough?
Hino fell silent. After searching for a while, he slowly pulled up a “tutorial” video of a male-male romance. Putting on a pair of round spectacles and holding a teaching pointer, he began to introduce the concepts frame by frame.
Xiao Sa rubbed his chin and fell into deep thought. “Isn’t this just the legendary AA (Alpha/Alpha) relationship?”
Since he and Landis were of different species, Landis didn’t emit the repulsive, aggressive Alpha pheromones he was used to. Consequently, Xiao Sa had subconsciously treated him like a member of the opposite sex.
“Is the link between a spiritual body and its master really just a mental connection? Or is there some other sensation?”
Hino’s voice became suggestive. 【It’s more than that. It’s synesthesia.】
Xiao Sa’s breath hitched. “Why didn’t you say that earlier today!”
Hino shrugged. 【I hinted at it! Besides, you’re already married, so what does it matter?】
No wonder Landis had been looking at him so strangely. It turned out that because they were newlyweds, and he hadn’t fulfilled a husband’s actual duties last night, he had spent the day “petting” him instead.
And to think he had tried to act like a seasoned expert! Xiao Sa covered his forehead; this was an absolute disgrace to the Alpha name!
But it didn’t matter. A superior Alpha should know when to admit a mistake and correct it. With a little “patching up,” he would be a perfect Alpha again—no matter the track.
By nighttime, Xiao Sa had conscientiously cleaned himself up. He changed into a brand-new set of white silk pajamas and lay on the bed, secretly observing the small videos he had pilfered from Hino.
As he watched, his mind began to wander. Beyond a foundation of feelings, the attraction between an Alpha and an Omega relied heavily on pheromones. These videos could be seen but not smelled. To him, the two people in the video looked scrawny and weak—they didn’t fit his aesthetic at all.
Xiao Sa watched until he yawned so hard a bubble nearly popped from his nose. This was nowhere near as exciting as watching a mecha battle.
The sound of rushing water came from the bathroom; Landis was showering.
Xiao Sa’s drifting attention was inexplicably pulled toward the sound of the water. Scenes of the two of them in the shower from the previous night flashed before his eyes.
In terms of physique, Landis was top-tier. His height was nearly identical to Xiao Sa’s, his waist and abdomen were free of any excess fat, and his scars didn’t diminish his charm—if anything, they added a touch of rugged intensity.
He was particularly envious of Landis’s large pectoral muscles. As for the rest… Xiao Sa pulled open his collar and looked down at himself. Fortunately, I’m not lagging behind.
He simply turned off the noisy video and opened his light-brain to check the descriptions of the mecha academies.
The Capital Military Mecha Academy was one of the four most prestigious academies in the Empire. Aside from its advanced equipment and cutting-edge technology, its most attractive feature was its long-term partnership with the military. Every year, a few slots were reserved for outstanding students to enter the “Explorer Legion” for practical internships.
“The Explorer Legion?” Xiao Sa summoned Hino. “What do they do?”
【The Explorer Legion is an independent unit under the military that focuses on operations, resource exploration, and the discovery of alien species. Generally, they don’t have to go to the front lines to fight Xenogeneics, so the risk level is relatively low.】
【Most missions involve exploring new resource planets, rare minerals, and the like. The merit rewards are high and it’s safe, so many children from noble families use this shortcut to ‘gild’ their resumes.】
Xiao Sa nodded as he scrolled through the introduction. “No wonder they partner with the mecha academy.”
Suddenly, his eyes lit up. If he could sneak into the Explorer Legion, he might be able to find news about his clansmen—weren’t they “alien species” themselves?
At the very least, he could get a Mecha Pilot Certificate out of it. It was a win-win situation.
Xiao Sa made up his mind; he would talk to Landis about it in a moment.
A few moments later, the sound of water ceased. Landis emerged wearing a black bathrobe, draped in a shroud of steam. His suede house shoes made no sound as they stepped onto the dark red, handmade wool carpet.
Xiao Sa opened his eyes to see Landis tinkering with the warming cabinet again. Sure enough, a glass of warm milk was held out to him.
“Banana flavored.”
When would Landis realize that drinking milk wouldn’t help him “grow” anymore?
Xiao Sa looked at him helplessly but took the glass and downed it. He was actually starting to get used to this.
After finishing the milk, a small smudge remained at the corner of Xiao Sa’s mouth. Landis’s gaze fixed on his face. He pressed his thumb against the corner of the younger man’s lips and wiped it gently.
“I can do it myself,” Xiao Sa said, raising the back of his hand to wipe, but Landis blocked him.
“Let me.”
His voice was slightly raspy. His thumb rubbed from the corner of the mouth to the lower lip, spreading the moist, thin milk into a white, glistening sheen.
Landis’s gaze was glued to those lips. He couldn’t help but lean down, pressing a light, pecking kiss against them. A scent of wine mixed with a hint of milk wafted into his nose.
Landis had gradually become accustomed to the “body fragrance” on Xiao Sa. Normally, he was never one to indulge in lust, but for some reason, the moment he smelled that scent, he couldn’t restrain the urge for skin-to-skin contact.
Once they were pressed together, he couldn’t help but crave more.
The intensity of the pecking kisses gradually increased; no longer satisfied with mere surface grazing, Landis tentatively nudged his lips open, his scalding tongue lightly licking the gaps between Xiao Sa’s teeth. His palm slid across the younger man’s cheek, curling around to the back of his head to press him firmly against himself.
Xiao Sa couldn’t help but complain inwardly—Why start kissing without giving a heads-up? I wasn’t even ready!
Wait, how did they do it in the video again?
Xiao Sa immediately seized the initiative. One hand wrapped around Landis’s lean, tough waist, while the other cupped the back of his neck, opening his mouth to actively deepen the kiss.
As their teeth and tongues tangled, scorching breaths puffed against each other’s cheeks. The fresh, damp scent of body wash on Landis was slowly baked warm by the heat of their bodies. Xiao Sa’s palms were as hot as a charcoal stove, turning the skin on the back of Landis’s neck a deep crimson.
Their synchronized breathing grew heavy, and a strange pleasure crawled through every nerve like a faint electric current. Xiao Sa had only kissed a handful of times, and every instance had been with Landis. Aside from the first two chaotic encounters, he was finally beginning to appreciate the joy of a proper kiss.
Their tongues were like two warring generals, vying for control and refusing to yield an inch of ground. Both struggled to invade the other’s territory, exhausting every breath of air until the opponent was spent and defeated, leaving them at the victor’s mercy.
Failing to secure a quick victory, Xiao Sa grew a bit impatient. Even in a kiss, he couldn’t lose.
Being a novice didn’t matter; he had pheromones.
The thick scent of Tequila was released instantly, enveloping Landis completely. Landis’s breathing rhythm faltered, and his blood surged uncontrollably. A dry heat surged through him, as if every pore on his body had opened involuntarily, thirstily seeking the scent of his partner.
Feeling that Landis’s offensive was no longer aggressive but rather lost in the lingering heat of the kiss, Xiao Sa allowed himself a cunning smile. He pulled back just enough to create an inch of space and whispered, “Well? Was that a perfect experience?”
Landis: “…”
Waking from his trance, Landis stared fixedly at Xiao Sa, his deep gaze looking as though he wanted to bore two holes into him. In a raspy voice, he asked, “How are you so skilled?”
Xiao Sa nodded as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “Of course. I’m very experienced.”
Freshly out of the oven!
Landis couldn’t help but narrow his eyes and let out a cold laugh. Very well.
An unprovoked flare of anger rose from his gut. He suddenly didn’t want to restrain his emotions or play the part of the gentle husband anymore. He needed to use action to tell his new spouse that they were a pair now—he should stop reminiscing about whoever gave him that “experience” in the past!
With a darkened face, Landis gripped Xiao Sa’s wrists firmly. With a thrust of his knee, he pinned him down onto the sheets. The white silk pajamas on Xiao Sa’s body were instantly creased. Before Xiao Sa could even show a look of astonishment, Landis had already torn open the buttons at his collar and pressed his heavy, ragged breath against the side of Xiao Sa’s neck.
Right here—the place that smelled the best.
“Tsk!” Of all the places to kiss, you have to go for the gland?
The stimulation was so intense that Xiao Sa felt his blood was about to flow backward. His gaze darkened instantly. His fingers gripped Landis’s shoulder blades firmly as he suddenly flipped them over, pinning Landis beneath him.
The belt of Landis’s bathrobe had already come loose. With a casual tug from Xiao Sa, the garment fell wide open. He swept his bothersome bangs back, his eyes dark beneath his slightly furrowed brow as he surveyed Landis’s bare chest, as if considering where to take the first bite.
“Let me…” Landis’s voice was hoarse and burning with fire. Refusing to show weakness, he sat up, wrapping his arms around the other’s waist as scorching kisses rained down on Xiao Sa’s lips and neck.
Perhaps because the air conditioning was set low, Xiao Sa’s skin felt slightly cool. Pressed against Landis’s fiery chest, it quickly became burning hot. Xiao Sa’s amber pupils dilated slightly, and his brows furrowed tightly as he collapsed onto Landis.
“Landis…”
Inside his chest, it felt as though his heart was being gripped by Landis’s hands, squeezed into pumping out a relentless surge of blood. Landis welcomed the embrace, kissing his lips with deep emotion.
Xiao Sa had never experienced such an unbearable sensation. His instinct was to bite the other’s neck and—just like the previous two times—violently inject his pheromones. But a final thread of logic told him that Landis couldn’t handle it.
He let out a heavy, ragged breath, staring intently at Landis’s face. He was “rubbing his palms together,” ready to officially practice the new knowledge he had just learned from Hino.
To his surprise, Landis caught his breath for a moment and then… actually rolled out of bed.
Xiao Sa, who had slammed on the brakes so hard he nearly hit the steering wheel: “?”
Landis washed his hands, took a quick cold shower, and emerged in a clean bathrobe. He then used a towel to wipe Xiao Sa clean, even considerately buttoning up the pajamas that had been pulled into disarray. His movements were slow and gentle, showing no trace of the earlier roughness.
Xiao Sa watched him, baffled. Was he just overthinking things? Did Landis not mean it that way?
Landis’s ice-blue eyes were clouded with a layer of mist from the bathroom. In a raspy voice, he said, “I’m not sure if my current mental sea condition will cause you harm. So, we’ll stop here for today.”
Xiao Sa’s “rank” was too low. Landis suddenly realized he couldn’t bear the thought of one day seeing the younger man lying in an intensive care ward at a sanatorium, waiting for his life to flicker out.
Seeing Xiao Sa’s obviously displeased expression, Landis ruffled his hair soothingly and explained patiently, “Once I’m done with this busy period, we’ll go for a comprehensive mental examination. If the results are alright, it won’t be too late to continue.”
Heaven knew how much willpower he was using to not lose his mind right then and there.
Xiao Sa’s expression gradually shifted to one of confusion. “But didn’t you marry me specifically to treat your mental pollution? Don’t worry, I’ll definitely cure you.”
He had absolutely no desire to go for any “check-ups.”
However, the more he said this, the worse Landis’s expression became. Landis couldn’t help but ask, “So, you’re only doing this to treat me?” He had been petting his spiritual body like that during the day, after all.
Xiao Sa blinked, hesitating. “Not entirely…”
He suddenly felt a bit guilty. If Landis ever discovered he had another motive… Landis liked him so much, he would surely be heartbroken.
Hearing this, Landis’s face softened slightly. He moved to turn off the lights.
“Wait,” Xiao Sa said, almost forgetting the matter of the mecha academy.
Landis turned back. “What is it?”
Xiao Sa opened his light-brain and pointed to the logo of the Capital Military Mecha Academy, speaking with great enthusiasm. “Staying in the manor all the time isn’t a long-term plan. I intend to take mecha courses. Do you have a way to help me enroll?”
Landis almost thought he had misheard. “What did you say?”
Xiao Sa repeated himself with great patience.
To his surprise, Landis’s face darkened immediately, and he gave a flat refusal. “No.”
Xiao Sa’s brows knit together in bewilderment. “Why?”
Landis softened his tone, but his opposition remained firm. “You are already married to me. You are the master of the Wincer family, not one of those bachelors at the academy or the military. Isn’t it better to stay home comfortably?”
“I will provide for you and take care of you. You only need to rest and recover; you don’t need to do any hard work.”
“Besides, what do you need to learn mecha for? It’s not like you need to go to the battlefield.”
“If you’re feeling bored, I can hire a piano or art teacher to come to the house, or you could host tea parties.”
Xiao Sa’s expression grew darker with every word. By the last sentence, his face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
Piano? Art? Tea parties? He was an Alpha born for battle!
“Landis, I can listen to you about other things—whether it’s drinking milk or bitter gourd soup, or even stopping halfway tonight—but I am definitely going to the mecha academy.”
“And I can take care of myself. I don’t need you to ‘provide’ for me.”
As a dignified Alpha, he absolutely would not bow down to being a “kept man.”
Landis’s brow tightened further, his gaze heavy with scrutiny and a top-down sense of pressure.
“Xiao Sa.”
When he wore this expression, he looked like a cold general looking down at a subordinate soldier. The tenderness and passion from moments ago vanished instantly.
“I said no.”
Xiao Sa hated being looked at like that most of all. He realized that Landis’s meticulous care for him was actually based on a strong person’s pity for the weak—it even carried a faint air of aristocratic arrogance and charity.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t reveal his greatest secret before reaching his goal. Landis’s status made him accustomed to controlling and deciding everything, but Xiao Sa refused to back down on this.
Xiao Sa immediately scrambled up from the bed to meet Landis’s gaze levelly, not yielding an inch. “I’m going.”
Xiao Sa’s serious expression gave Landis a rare headache. Looking at the younger man’s stubborn brow, he sighed helplessly. “It’s late. Rest first. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Xiao Sa had no choice but to climb back into bed. He burrowed into the quilt and rolled over, his back to Landis, clearly still angry.
After the bedroom lights were extinguished, Landis lay in bed, staring at the back of Xiao Sa’s head. He couldn’t help but press his temples. Is this what a quarrel feels like? It’s only the second day of the marriage.
A silent atmosphere hung over the bed. Landis couldn’t help but reflect on whether he had been too harsh. Was Xiao Sa just having a late rebellious phase? Or was he upset about not being “satisfied” earlier?
Just as he was tossing and turning in a state of internal conflict, the Xiao Sa next to him at some point had rolled back over to lie on his back. His breathing was long and steady, his face peaceful. He had actually fallen asleep in seconds.
Landis couldn’t help but shuffle closer. “Xiao Sa, are you asleep?”
Xiao Sa mumbled something incoherent in his sleep, wiggled around in the quilt, and reached out a hand. He subconsciously hooked his arm around Landis’s head, pulling him into the crook of his arm before finally settling back into a deep sleep.
Landis: “…”
His face darkened. Where on earth did this guy practice being so skilled at this?
