The Only Ultimate Alpha in the Universe - Chapter 10
A mental power compatibility of 100 percent?
This meant that both parties were a perfect match on both a genetic and mental level. No matter how severe the mental pollution was, it could be alleviated through a deep bond. If the two were to have offspring, their talents would be even more extraordinary.
No one would ever refuse a perfect-score blind date.
The higher a soldier’s rank, the harder it was to find a high-compatibility match. In the Aurora Empire, a 100 percent match had not occurred in at least a decade, let alone for an S-grade Admiral. It was simply incredible.
Landis’s eyes filled with surprise. He even exited and refreshed the page once to confirm he hadn’t misread it. His adjutant, Carlo, let out a loud whistle, looking ready to pop open champagne in celebration.
“Admiral, you finally can’t refuse a blind date this time! 100 percent compatibility, good lord, who are you trying to kill with envy? We were worried you’d be single for the rest of your life.”
Landis composed himself, shot him a look, and said calmly, “It’s just a match with someone I haven’t even met; it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Besides, the other party might not be willing to enter a betrothal with a high-ranking officer.”
It was common knowledge that high-ranking officers often carried extremely severe mental pollution. While gaining status and wealth through marriage was good, the risk of mental pollution was not something everyone could handle.
The Third Prince looked at the dazed Wenxi beside him and shook his head with a bitter smile. This luck was truly heaven-defying.
Wenxi was still unwilling to give up. “Who is this person?”
Landis shook his head. “The information is hidden. I don’t know who this person is either.”
Wenxi finally realized he had asked another stupid question. In Hainuo’s matching rules, mental compatibility was the top priority. To prevent interference from appearance, wealth, occupation, or other information that might cause one to miss the best match, the identities of both parties were hidden before the first meeting.
However, for the true power elite, there were still ways to bypass such rules.
Third Prince Moang smiled slightly. “My authority sequence is quite high. If Admiral Landis wants to know the identity of this 100 percent match, I can check.”
Without waiting for a response, he directly activated his optical brain. Moang’s device was a product of the latest cutting-edge technology, appearing like a contact lens placed directly on the cornea.
He blinked softly, and a projection of an elegant butler in a black formal suit appeared before them, right arm held across his waist in a bow. “Good evening, gentlemen.”
Moang gave the command. “Query the recent matchmaking information for Landis Wenser.”
Landis was usually unwilling to let outsiders interfere in his private affairs, but since the Third Prince had already spoken, and out of a bit of personal curiosity, the refusal at the tip of his tongue was swallowed back.
The rapidly flashing data stream eventually converged into a semi-transparent screen floating before Moang. Both Wenxi and Carlo craned their necks to get a look.
Aside from the mental compatibility column showing 100 percent, the group was shocked to find that this person’s mental power was only C-grade. Furthermore, the remarks column actually featured the large words: Disabled.
“What? C-grade?”
“How can they be disabled?”
The smile on Carlo’s face froze instantly. He looked even more disappointed than Landis himself. “Admiral, could there be a problem with Hainuo’s matching program? How could it match you with a C-grade disabled person? You are S-grade!”
Landis frowned slightly, staring at the striking remarks on the screen in silence. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t disappointed by such a match.
However, given his pessimistic view of military marriages, his requirements for a partner were not high; he simply detested unions based on political schemes or calculated interests. He did not want to be dragged into the Royal Family’s political struggles.
Third Prince Moang and Wenxi were equally stunned. Wenxi felt a surge of absurdity at first, but then an uncontrollable sense of secret joy rose in his heart.
He knew it was somewhat petty, but so what? As the son of a Duke, backed by the Lotte family and possessing double-A mental power, he was surely a better match for Admiral Landis than some C-grade disabled person.
On the projection screen, aside from those few items, all other identity information was replaced by asterisks. Even the appearance was not displayed.
“Why isn’t the name or location shown? Not even an image?” Moang refreshed the page several times, but it remained the same. He became displeased, his voice deepening.
[This information has been classified. Your authority is insufficient for viewing.]
Third Prince Moang was speechless. Seeing this prompt, he was even more shocked than he was by Landis’s C-grade match. As a Prince—even if he wasn’t the heir to the throne—how could his authority be insufficient to check the match of a mere subject?
There had to be a problem. Was this person someone his older brother had specially found to pull Landis over to his faction? Or was it perhaps on his father’s orders?
In a single moment, several conspiracy theories flashed through Moang’s mind. He quickly hid his shock and restored his usual friendly smile. “How strange. I’m becoming more and more curious about this person.”
“How can this be happening?” Wenxi said with disbelief. “Is it a bug in Hainuo? I heard the main brain control room just had a terminal upgrade; maybe the authority settings are wrong.” He looked at Landis, refusing to give up. “Perhaps this person doesn’t even exist.”
Landis’s eyes were devoid of emotion as he looked at Wenxi. “I have already agreed to Hainuo’s matching arrangement,” he said neutrally. “Whether this person exists or not will be known once they accept the invitation.”
“What?” Wenxi was full of disappointment. “Admiral, are you serious? But this person—”
C-grade and disabled? Heavens! If word of this got out, the entire Empire would think it was a joke.
Landis’s ice-blue eyes turned away indifferently. “I appreciate your concern, but it is unnecessary.”
The conditions were indeed poor, but a 100 percent compatibility was something one could only hope for and never demand. Even with Landis’s pride, he could not ask for more. More importantly, Black Flame’s condition could no longer be delayed.
Landis subconsciously touched the back of his neck. The stinging sensation from before had long faded, as if it had all been an illusion.
Perhaps this was the destiny arranged by heaven? He hoped the other party would be easy to get along with. Landis sighed softly to himself.
Zhiyang Star.
Back in the VIP room of the auction house, Xiao Sa sat on the sofa, pressing one hand onto the top of Duan Feng’s head. Both had their eyes closed, their consciousness completely immersed in the mental link, oblivious to the outside world. The subordinates surrounded them nervously, terrified of any interruption.
This was the first time Xiao Sa had observed the interior of a person’s mental sea in this star system from such a close distance.
It was like being in a sea of clouds during a violent storm. Xiao Sa’s semi-transparent spiritual body looked like a thin, flat boat, liable to be capsized by the raging waves at any moment. At the center of the cloud-sea was a massive whirlpool, pitch-black and terrifying, appearing as if it would swallow anyone who looked at it.
Inside someone else’s mental sea, Xiao Sa didn’t dare be overconfident. He cautiously controlled his spiritual body to move closer to the whirlpool.
Suddenly, a dark brown tentacle hundreds of meters long surged up, giving him a fright!
“What kind of monster is this?”
Xiao Sa frowned, agilely dodging the tentacle’s attack. He reached out into the void, and a semi-transparent long blade condensed from mental power appeared in his hand. He jumped high and dove down fiercely from mid-air, gripping the blade with both hands and slashing down hard against the strange, ugly tentacle!
Countless bursts of black blood-mist exploded, scattering like embers from a fire. The previously calm whirlpool shook violently, and three more tentacles emerged, attacking him simultaneously!
Xiao Sa’s gaze turned cold. His fingers tightened around the hilt, and his black cloak was tossed high by the wind and waves. Instead of retreating, he advanced, launching another attack against the unknown giant sea monster.
After fighting for an unknown amount of time, Xiao Sa caught a glimpse of a small, grayish-white octopus struggling violently amidst the writhing flesh, about to be swallowed into the sea monster’s belly. It was constantly emitting a pheromone with a specific scent—a signal for help.
If Xiao Sa weren’t an Alpha who was intimately familiar with pheromones, any other healer might not have smelled it.
Xiao Sa used all his strength to sever the last giant black tentacle and finally pulled the little octopus away from the whirlpool. The octopus looked like a newborn. He poked its rounded forehead with his finger, frowning. “Are you still alive? You didn’t die, did you?”
“Waaaaahhh!!!”
The little octopus suddenly burst into a wailing cry. The signal for help turned into terror, fear, and pain, making such a racket that Xiao Sa almost threw the thing away.
Expressionlessly, he released his own pheromones and transformed the mental blade in his hand into a charcoal stove to soothe it. “Stop crying, you’re too loud. If you cry any more, I’ll roast you into cumin squid skewers.”
“!!!” The little octopus shut its mouth instantly.
…
At this moment, the others in the room were watching Xiao Sa and Duan Feng with extreme tension. The pirate leader’s thick brows were knit tight, his cheeks twitching occasionally. The veins in his temples and neck bulged as if he were in agonizing pain. Even Xiao Sa, who was usually at ease, had an extremely solemn expression.
The squad leader swallowed hard. “It’s been so long and there’s still no news. Can he really do it?”
Deken rubbed his sweaty palms, praying in a low voice. “The boss has great fortune; nothing must happen to him.”
He did find it strange. Usually, when a mental healer used a mental link to clear pollution, they would condense their mental entity—that was the unique sign of a healer. Why hadn’t Xiao Sa’s mental entity appeared? Did he not need one?
After an unknown amount of time, Duan Feng’s sturdy body suddenly swayed. He was immediately supported by Deken and slowly woke up in his arms.
“Boss! You’re awake! How do you feel?” Deken and the others asked a barrage of questions, making Duan Feng’s head throb.
“Rest easy. I feel my mental sea is much more comfortable.” Duan Feng breathed a long sigh of relief. His strained nerves felt as if they had been baptized, relaxing completely.
His expression smoothed out, and he wiped the sweat from his forehead. With a thought, a newborn octopus mental entity appeared in his palm, lazily stretching its soft tentacles.
Duan Feng said with relief, “With some more nurturing, it will grow back.”
Seeing the leader’s collapsed mental entity reappear, Deken’s eyes turned red and his voice choked up. “That’s great, that’s truly great!”
Opposite them, Xiao Sa also quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Clearing someone’s mental sea was truly no easy task; it took a lot out of him. Ever since he was “fainted by the sun” last time, he had lain in the hospital for several days to recover, and he had been unable to go out during the day since.
But now, he discovered something extraordinary.
After reaching adulthood and differentiating as an S-grade Alpha, his mental power level should have been fixed. He never expected that after coming to this star system and experiencing several instances of nearly exhausting his mental power, his mental sea showed signs of expanding again!
Could it be that this star system allowed him to undergo a second evolution?
“Sir.”
With Deken’s support, Duan Feng slowly stood up. His beast-like legs had not recovered, but several barbs on his knees had broken off, and the ugly scales covering his skin were turning to ash and falling away. He had thought he was a dead man walking, unable even to keep his human form. He never expected such a turnaround, a chance to find life in a dead end. How could he not be emotional?
Duan Feng looked intently at Xiao Sa and pushed Deken away. Relying on his own strength, he painfully bent his knee and knelt on one leg. He clenched his right hand into a fist, lightly bit his thumb, and then touched his left chest, pressing over his heart as he bowed.
“Respected Mr. Alpha. I, Moranton Waltz, former Deputy Commander of the Fourth Legion of the Aurora Empire and current leader of the Duan Feng Pirate Group, offer my heartfelt thanks for your mercy and for saving my life!”
Deken and the squad leaders, seeing their commander so solemn, didn’t dare say a word and quickly bowed along with him in gratitude.
Xiao Sa was stunned and waved a hand casually. “There’s no need for that.”
His own gains were not small either. Just as he was about to reach out to help the man up, the optical brain on his wrist suddenly let out a “beep,” indicating an important notification.
Xiao Sa looked down.
[You have a matchmaking application. Please check it. ^O^]
Xiao Sa: “???”
