- The Omega's Vow: Never Marry a Mama's Boy Alpha
- Chapter 63 - The Fiancée Unintentionally Provoked the Film Queen
March 12th, 4:10 PM, Imperial Capital Grand Theater.
With nearly three hours still to go before the opening ceremony, the theater entrance was already lined with a long red carpet laid out by staff. Security personnel in uniform, wearing hats and holding riot batons, had set up two ten-meter-long security barriers on either side of the carpet.
Media reporters had long since gathered chaotically at the entrance, mingling with fan group leaders and fansite operators, creating a noisy scene reminiscent of a morning market. Once the barriers were in place, experienced reporters, carrying heavy cameras and microphones, immediately dashed to secure the best vantage points. Others followed suit, clutching their equipment as they sprinted behind, evoking the intensity of a spirited 500-meter race from their youth.
In reality, it wasn’t nearly as dramatic, it was all for work, to get close enough to capture shots or even interview the celebrities walking the red carpet.
With timing and human factors beyond their control, they could only strive to make the most of their positioning.
Who knows? A stroke of luck might just catch the attention of one of those stars.
As the sun gradually set in the west, the moon began to peek out. Though it wasn’t yet early spring in terms of the solar term, the temperature dropped sharply once the sun went down. Reporters and photographers had naturally prepared thick, heavy coats in advance, but the stars and actors, prioritizing their appearance, wouldn’t be caught dead in such bulky, unflattering attire.
Panda Jie, wrapped up tightly, had even tucked her head into the hood of her down jacket. With a black-and-white panda mask covering her face, only her eyes were visible.
Another van pulled up at the entrance of the red carpet. Out of habit, Panda Jie raised her camera to snap a photo, it was the award presenter for the evening, Film Empress Su Suxin!
The few actors who had passed by earlier weren’t particularly popular, and the crowd’s reaction had been lukewarm. But now, everyone surged forward eagerly. If not for the fear of being roughed up by security, they would have rushed past the barriers straight to Su Suxin.
She was the actress who had taken up the mantle of leading Chinese cinema’s female roles after the retirement of Film Empress Ye Lan. Su Suxin’s looks weren’t exceptionally striking, but she carried an elegant, scholarly air, a quality undoubtedly shaped by her upbringing. At thirty-six, this female omega showed no signs of aging, with not a single wrinkle visible even under the camera’s scrutiny, a testament to her meticulous self-care.
“Film Empress!”
“Empress Su!!”
“Look over here, Empress Su!”
Yet even as a respected film empress, she had to endure the bitter cold outdoors in a thin gown. No matter how freezing, she maintained a calm, composed smile while facing the dense crowd and flashing cameras.
“Ah, look at these celebrities they may shine brightly, but they endure plenty of hardships too,” someone remarked, lowering their camera with a sigh.
“Exactly. The established stars can manage, but newcomers are even more anxious. One misstep, and it’s over for them.”
Su Suxin had now reached the center of the red carpet. Spotting a familiar reporter who happened to extend a microphone toward her, she graciously paused to grant an interview.
Flashbulbs popped incessantly, leaving Panda Jie wondering if the glare might blind Empress Su.
At the entrance of the red carpet, another van pulled up, a Toyota Alphard. Panda’s eyes narrowed slightly, finding the vehicle somewhat familiar. She glanced at the license plate, and her round eyes suddenly sparkled with an astonishing brightness.
It was Yan Bao’s car!
Ahhhhhhh, her baby was here!
Panda excitedly raised her camera. Through the lens, she saw the driver open the car door, revealing first a slender, pure white calf, followed by black high heels with red soles pointed toes and thin heels.
As Wen Yan stepped out completely and came into everyone’s view, audible gasps of admiration rippled through the crowd.
“Holy crap, who is that? She’s absolutely stunning.”
The nearest photographer, gazing at the beauty in his viewfinder, didn’t let go of the shutter button. The guys beside him were no different, the flashes barely stopped.
“Who is this gorgeous woman?”
“Wen Yan? It must be Wen Yan.”
“Wait, that’s Wen Yan? She’s this beautiful in person? You can’t tell at all in her movies!”
“Damn, seeing her in real life made me realize how terrifyingly stunning some people are off-camera. In films, she just looks pretty, but in person, her beauty is suffocating!”
“Now I understand why Wending Pictures is so confident. With looks like Wen Yan’s, if she doesn’t become a star, I’ll eat my hat!”
These comments came from industry photographers who understood the rules of the game: beauty isn’t everything, but without it, nothing else matters. With the backing of Wending, the industry giant, and her own striking looks and figure, Wen Yan’s rise to the top was only a matter of time!
No wonder she was dubbed “hot search material.” With a face like that, even eating or drinking would have people praising her elegance and charm.
Since Su Suxin was still in the middle of an interview, only those at the front noticed Wen Yan at first. But as Wen Yan gradually moved forward, the attention that had been on Su Suxin involuntarily shifted to her. Gasps and praises rose and fell like waves.
Panda, who happened to be there, waved and shouted almost roared toward Wen Yan in the distance.
“Yan Bao!!!”
“Look over here, Mom is here!!!”
Wen Yan: ?
Why do my fans always try to claim me as their daughter?
She maintained her signature look seductive eyes and a faint smile at the corners of her lips, three parts alluring and seven parts dignified, like a rose blooming proudly in winter, vibrant and captivating through the lens.
“Perfect! Mom loves you!!!”
“Go, Yan Bao!”
It had been a long time since Panda had expressed her affection so openly in front of such a large crowd. The main reason was that Wen Yan’s fanbase was still small, and even fewer could make it to events. Panda didn’t want Wen Yan to feel unsupported, as if she were fighting alone.
So, in a classic, straightforward way, she cheered on her little treasure.
Wen Yan’s eyes curved slightly, her dark eyeshadow enhancing their allure in that gentle arc. Su Suxin subtly withdrew her gaze, smiled and waved at the surrounding media, then continued forward with steady steps.
Wen Yan had no idea that her appearance had actually stolen the spotlight from the acclaimed actress Su Suxin. The two weren’t far apart, and the cameras that had been focused on Su Suxin had now all turned in Wen Yan’s direction.
But some people saw it Su Ying’s fans. Having debuted for many years, she had a massive fanbase, and quite a few had come specifically to see her today.
“Just because she’s pretty, does that make her special? She doesn’t even know how to respect her seniors no talent, no virtue. Ugh.”
“She’s the promotional ambassador for Qinghong, while our sister is the brand ambassador. Isn’t this just a blatant show of defiance?”
“She should really weigh her own worth.”
The leader of the fan group snorted coldly, “Prepare the materials and drafts. Once the awards ceremony is over, we’ll start stirring things up on Weibo.”
“I’ll make sure she learns what happens when she messes with our Su Su.”
After the seemingly endless red carpet walk, it was time to step onto the stage to sign autographs, take photos, and pose for group pictures. The host would, as usual, ask about their thoughts and whether they felt confident about winning an award.
Wen Yan stood on the stage and spotted Gu Lin not far away. Gu Lin disliked being surrounded by so many cameras and had outright refused to walk the red carpet, entering the venue early instead.
At first, Wen Yan had felt a little regretful, thinking how romantic it would have been to walk the red carpet together. After all, they were from the same production crew, so no one would gossip about it.
But now, upon reflection, she thought it was just as well they hadn’t.
It was cold.
Truly cold.
Her blood felt as if it were freezing solid in the icy temperature, her bones stiff like rusted scrap metal.
And then there were the never-ending camera flashes. At many moments, Wen Yan could hardly see anything just a blurry, blank whiteness relying solely on instinct to move forward.
She didn’t want Gu Lin to experience such discomfort.
After briefly answering the host’s questions, Wen Yan walked toward Gu Lin.
Her alpha was dressed solemnly and meticulously, a suit, trousers, and high heels in an elegant, pure sapphire blue. Her long hair was tied into a ponytail at the nape of her neck, and the silver earrings dangling from her earlobes complemented her face shape perfectly, making her look exceptionally beautiful.
Her lips were thin and glistening, and Wen Yan couldn’t help but feel the urge to kiss them at first glance.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t.
But it didn’t matter, she could always ask Gu Lin to dress like this again at home.
Gu Lin wanted to take off her suit jacket and drape it over Wen Yan. There was no need to imagine how cold it was outside. Wen Yan stopped her with a look. In a public setting, she hoped this Fifth Miss Gu wouldn’t be so brazen about flaunting their affection otherwise, she might suspect Gu Lin’s motives, wondering if she was trying to make their relationship public.
“It’s fine, the indoor heating is quite strong.”
Besides, hot tea and coffee were provided, and Wen Yan felt much better than she had moments before.
The entire crew of Rivalry was seated in a corner. After all, both the director and the actors were newcomers, so it was only natural they weren’t given much attention. Hardly anyone even came over to chat. Wen Yan did spot Tang Mi, but ever since she had turned her down on set, the two hadn’t spoken much.
The entire awards ceremony could be described as utterly uneventful. Wen Yan, ever the professional screen artist, maintained a poised posture and a smile throughout, especially since the cameraman seemed particularly fond of her, frequently pointing the camera right at her face.
Gu Lin, on the other hand, was far more audacious she simply lowered her head and zoned out. To an observer, she might have appeared deep in thought, but in reality, she was just mentally sketching out scenes for her next project.
You stand on the bridge gazing at the scenery, while the one admiring the view watches you from the balcony.
After not seeing each other for several months, little cutie Xu Wei had thought her infatuation with Director Lin had faded away. A young girl’s love is always like the wind swift to arrive and swift to vanish, leaving no trace. Xu Wei had accepted this trait of hers quite frankly after all, she just couldn’t help being utterly captivated by beautiful older sisters!
If it’s an omega, perhaps being a little fickle-hearted can be forgiven, right?
Now, meeting again and sitting so close together well, actually, there was still one person between them, but still! Xu Wei felt her feelings reigniting!
Director Lin looked absolutely stunning today!
Her once-vanished love was making a roaring comeback!
