The Omega from Last Night Is My Blind Date - Chapter 1
Ten o’clock sharp in the evening.
The lighting inside the “Lost” bar underwent a precise metamorphosis. An ambiguous amber replaced the previous dim yellow light, blanketing every corner like an invisible veil of gauze.
The air was thick with money, desire, and deliberately released pheromones, all blending into the scent of meticulously crafted cocktails.
Bai Yue leaned against the metal railing of the circular second-floor corridor, her slender fingers loosely gripping a crystal whiskey glass. The ice had long since melted, leaving a few streaks of condensation clinging to the sides of the glass.
Her gaze lacked focus, appearing to sweep listlessly over every bustling figure on the floor below.
The night scene at “Lost” never lacked prey. There were fresh, mature, or passionately fierce Omegas, alongside plenty of other Alpha hunters like herself who navigated this hunting ground of lust with practiced ease.
However, she lacked interest tonight.
The phone in her pants pocket began to vibrate; it was a muffled but persistent hum.
Bai Yue finally made a move. She sluggishly pulled out the phone, the cold white light of the screen illuminating a small portion of her face. Her jawline was sharp and clean, the bridge of her nose high, and her eyes appeared a deep, somber brown in the dark. At this moment, they narrowed slightly out of impatience.
The message was from the “Matriarch,” brief and unyielding as always:
“Seven o’clock tomorrow evening, third floor of Langyue Restaurant. I’ve sent you the photo. No excuses this time; you must go.”
The attached photo finished loading. It was a girl, very young, offering a standard yet slightly constrained smile toward the camera. Her straight, long black hair fell smoothly over her shoulders. She had large, watery eyes and wore a conservatively styled light-blue knit sweater. The background was some library, and she was cradling a few books in her arms.
She was a textbook “good girl.”
From her hairstyle to her clothing, and down to the untainted clarity shining through her eyes, everything aligned perfectly with the elders’ ultimate collective imagination of an “ideal Omega.”
The corners of Bai Yue’s mouth twitched downward. Her fingertips hovered above the screen, pausing for two seconds before typing out two words:
“Received.”
It was handled like an inconsequential official document.
Locking the screen, she casually stuffed the phone back into her pants pocket.
She raised her glass once more, swallowing the final, diluted sip of bland alcohol mixed with melted ice water.
Annoying.
The family was pressing harder and harder for marriage, and the match-making prospects they introduced looked more and more like they were stamped from the same mold. Docile, well-behaved, and domestic; these were the types of embellishments she needed least in her life.
She needed stimulation. She needed a challenge. She needed vivid, living desire that could briefly detach her from tedious financial statements and hypocritical social obligations.
Just as her perfunctory reply was sent, a newly appeared figure by the downstairs bar counter caught her eye.
It was an Omega she had never seen before.
The woman wore a simple white silk shirt paired with black trousers, her chestnut hair loosely pinned up to expose her slender nape. She kept her pheromones exceptionally well-restrained, yet Bai Yue still caught a trace of a faint, elusive white peach scent, sweet with an imperceptible touch of tartness.
She was speaking to the bartender, the profile of her face elegantly contoured, a faint smile playing on her lips. The bartender was a Beta boy whom she had successfully teased into blushing.
Bai Yue set down her wine glass, and the stairs beneath her feet transformed into a runway. Wherever she passed, the gazes of Alphas and Omegas naturally followed. Some recognized her and lowered their voices to gossip.
“Bai Yue is here again…”
“I wonder who the unlucky soul is tonight.”
“Tsk, you have it backward. To be noticed by her…”
She left the murmuring behind. Stopping three paces away from the bar counter, she placed herself exactly within the perimeter of the other woman’s peripheral vision.
The Omega in white did not turn her head immediately. Instead, she unhurriedly took a small sip of the pale pink liquid in her glass, her throat line shifting smoothly to carve a seductive curve in the dim light of the bar. Only then did she turn her face.
Their eyes locked.
Bai Yue saw a pair of amber eyes. Under the hazy lighting, they looked like melted honey, yet deep within them flashed a sharp, cold glint. Those were not the eyes a “good girl” was supposed to have.
Interesting.
“Alone?” Bai Yue spoke, her voice tilting upward with an Alpha’s natural magnetism and sense of control.
The Omega arched an eyebrow and looked her up and down from head to toe. Her gaze was frank, utterly unmasking her scrutiny. That look swept across Bai Yue’s face, slid down her neck, landed on the hand she rested on the bar counter, lingered for two seconds, and then lifted back up.
“It does not look like it now,” she replied. Her voice was crisper than expected, like mountain spring water striking pebbles.
The bartender sensibly backed away.
Bai Yue sat down on the barstool beside her and gestured to the mixologist. “Give her a ‘Midnight Flight’ and put it on my tab.” She then turned to the Omega. “My treat.”
“I have a prejudice against drinks with flamboyant names,” the other woman said, her fingertips lightly tracing circles around the rim of her glass.
“If you never try, a prejudice will always remain a prejudice.” Bai Yue leaned her body slightly forward. The pheromones of agarwood and frankincense blended with whiskey quietly released, announcing her presence non-aggressively. “I am Bai Yue.”
“I know,” the Omega chuckled softly, a certain inexplicable quality woven into her laughter. “The young helmswoman of Bai’s Capital, a frequent guest in financial magazines, and a… legend of the Lost bar.”
She spoke those last two words with deep meaning.
Bai Yue did not deny it; instead, her interest deepened. “Then does this ‘legend’ have the honor of knowing your name?”
“Do you remember the name of every Omega?” The Omega raised her wine glass, looking at her through the pink liquid. “If you are just going to forget it right after hearing it, why bother asking?” She paused, her amber eyes shimmering just above the glass rim. “A name signifies a past and a future. People here only care about the present.”
It was a provocation.
A clear, hooked provocation.
Bai Yue’s heart gave a hard thump. How long had it been since she last encountered such a direct and clever prey?
“Well said.” She raised her freshly served drink. “A toast to the present.”
The glass cups clinked together, producing a crisp sound. Each took a sip, their gazes intertwining in the air like two swords clashing silently.
“Want to dance?” Bai Yue gestured with her chin toward the dance floor. It was dense with shadows, and the music shifted into a low, sexy beat.
The Omega set down her glass with elegant movements. She did not answer verbally, but she extended her hand.
The dance floor was more crowded than the bar area, the air thick with a cocktail of dozens of pheromones, sweat, and alcohol. Bai Yue naturally reached out to lightly support the other woman’s waist. Through the thin silk shirt, she could feel the warm skin and supple waistline.
The other woman did not refuse. Instead, she followed the guiding force and moved half a step closer. The distance instantly shortened to a dangerous degree. Bai Yue could clearly see the curl of her eyelashes and smell the white peach pheromones she had deliberately concealed at the nape of her neck.
“Do you not like using suppressor patches?” Bai Yue asked right against her ear, her breath brushing over her earlobe.
“Are all Alphas as direct as you?” the Omega countered, though her hand climbed onto Bai Yue’s shoulder.
The rhythm of the music quickened, the drumbeats hammering against their chests. They moved through the crowd like a synchronized pair that had rehearsed countless times; she advanced, she retreated; she turned, she followed. Their bodies rubbed together in casual collisions, and the temperature climbed.
Bai Yue’s hand slid from the waist up to the back, her palm feeling the indentation of the spine beneath the shirt. The Omega tilted her head back slightly, exposing a stretch of fair neck. The vulnerable gland was right there, devoid of any protection.
“Are you usually this…” Bai Yue searched for the word, “…defenseless?”
The Omega smiled, this time more genuinely, the corners of her eyes crinkling into a charming arc. “Only toward targets that do not pose a threat.”
“I do not pose a threat? Are you sure?”
“Not entirely sure.” The Omega moved her hand from Bai Yue’s shoulder to the back of her neck, her fingertips lightly tracing the Alpha’s skin. “But… it is worth the risk.”
These words felt like pressing a certain switch.
Bai Yue tightened her arms, bringing the woman completely into her embrace. The pheromones grew thick beyond control, the chill of agarwood and frankincense overwhelmed by the scorching heat of whiskey, radiating aggression.
The surrounding Alphas and Omegas backed away one after another, clearing a space for them.
The Omega in her arms merely let out a soft “mmph.” The white peach fragrance also turned rich and cloying with the shift, yet it remained firmly locked behind that hidden barrier.
“You are very interesting,” Bai Yue whispered, her lips pressed against the other woman’s ear.
“You are not bad yourself,” the Omega responded, her breath equally burning hot.
As the song came to an end, during the brief interval while the lights switched, they maintained their embracing posture.
“Shall we continue here,” Bai Yue stepped back a fraction, though her hand remained at the side of the woman’s waist, “or change to a more private place?”
The Omega tilted her head as if in serious thought. The lights cast mottled shadows across her face, her amber eyes appearing bottomless.
“It is too noisy here, let us change places,” she said, her fingers hooking into the front placket of Bai Yue’s shirt, giving a gentle tug. “However, it has to be by my rules.”
“What rules?”
“I will tell you when we get there.”
Outside the bar, the night breeze felt slightly cool, dispelling the heat from moments ago. Bai Yue’s car was parked right at the corner, a flashy red sports car, its smooth lines gleaming under the streetlights. She pulled open the passenger door, making a gesture of “after you.”
The Omega stepped inside. While fastening her seatbelt, she glanced at her sideways. “Does CEO Bai frequently chauffeur friends like this?”
“Occasionally.” Bai Yue started the engine, the low growl of the motor sounding exceptionally clear on the quiet street. “I usually do not drive myself.”
“Then should I feel honored?”
“Precisely.”
The car glided into the night. The sealed space inside the cabin made their pheromones interlace even more clearly. The sweetness of the white peach and the coldness of the agarwood formed a marvelous contrast, yet they merged in a bizarre fashion.
Neither spoke another word.
The hotel Bai Yue chose was the penthouse suite she frequented in the city center; it was private, premium, and guaranteed to be free of any unnecessary disturbances.
The front desk clearly recognized her. When respectfully handing over the key card, the clerk’s eyes did not stray to look at the Omega beside her even once.
The elevator ascended straight to the top floor. The mirrored walls reflected the silhouettes of the two; Bai Yue stood tall and erect, while the Omega stood half a head shorter beside her, though her aura was not weak in the slightest.
She was looking down at her phone, the screen’s fluorescent glow illuminating her focused profile.
“Urgent business?” Bai Yue asked.
“Powering down.” The Omega pressed the power button, the screen went black, and she threw the phone into her small handbag. “There should not be an ‘outside world’ existing tonight.”
The elevator arrived with a “ding.” The corridor was lined with thick carpeting, swallowing their footsteps entirely.
Bai Yue swiped the card to open the door, stepping aside to let the Omega enter first.
The suite living room was spacious, the floor-to-ceiling windows framing a dazzling night view of the city. But neither of them spared a glance at the scenery.
The moment the door shut behind them, Bai Yue turned and pinned the Omega against the door panel. The movement was a bit rushed, but the other woman did not panic. Instead, she raised her arms to loop them around her neck.
“The rules,” Bai Yue reminded her, their noses almost touching. “Can you tell me now?”
The Omega tilted her head up, her lips mere millimeters away from hers.
“Rule number one: Do not ask about the past.”
“Agreed.”
“Rule number two: No marking.” She paused, supplementing, “Not even temporary ones.”
Bai Yue’s movements stiffened. This request was exceptionally rare for a one-night stand between an Alpha and an Omega. Although a temporary mark would establish a brief connection, it would dissipate in a few days and was generally viewed as a “safe” boundary. Completely forbidding a mark meant the other party refused even the shallowest level of connection.
“Why?” she could not help but ask.
“Rule number three: Do not ask why.” The Omega’s fingers threaded into the long hair at the back of Bai Yue’s head, applying a slight pressure. “Accept it, and we continue. If not, the door is right there.”
Her tone was calm, yet her gaze resembled a tempered blade.
Bai Yue stared at her for a few seconds. The pheromones surged in the air, manifesting the Alpha’s primal instinctual craving for marking rights and possessiveness. But ultimately, rationality overrode instinct; this Omega was too special, special enough to warrant breaking protocol.
“Accepted,” she said, leaning down to kiss the pair of lips that had been provoking her all night.
The Omega’s response was fierce beyond imagination. She was not passively enduring it; she was actively attacking. Her teeth lightly bit Bai Yue’s lower lip, her tongue prying open the teeth. The white peach pheromones exploded completely at this moment, sweet enough to cause dizziness, yet still firmly locking that final barrier.
She truly was strictly enforcing the “no marking” rule, keeping even the blending of pheromones contained at the outermost surface.
This instead incited an even deeper desire for conquest within Bai Yue. Holding the back of the other woman’s head with one hand to deepen the kiss, her other hand tore open that obstructive white shirt. Buttons snapped off, rolling soundlessly onto the carpet.
As skin was exposed to the slightly cool air, the Omega shivered slightly, but in the next second, she used equally urgent movements to rip open Bai Yue’s shirt. Her fingertips slid across tight abdominal muscles, leaving scorching tracks behind.
Along the path from the entrance to the bedroom, articles of clothing lay scattered across the floor. When they tumbled onto the wide mattress, the Omega was on top, her chestnut hair spilling open, a few strands clinging to the sweat-dampened side of her neck. The neon lights outside filtered through the gap of the unclosed curtains, cutting alternating stripes of light and dark across her bare back.
“Are you sure you do not want a temporary mark?” Bai Yue asked while panting, her hand brushing over the scalding gland at the back of her neck. It was throbbing along with the heartbeat, alluring to the extreme.
The Omega’s answer was to lean down and bite her shoulder, not hard, but enough to leave a tooth mark. “Sure,” she breathed into her ear, her warm, wet breath pouring into the ear canal. “Just like this.”
Then just like this.
Bai Yue flipped over to press her into the soft mattress, her kisses traveling all the way down from the lips. The fragrance of white peach permeated the entire room, becoming thoroughly entangled with the agarwood and frankincense. There was no mark, but their physical compatibility was astounding. Every touch felt as though it had been rehearsed a thousand times, and every gasp triggered an even more passionate response.
Time lost its meaning. It was not until the city lights outside extinguished one by one that they resembled two ships experiencing a violent storm, slowly mooring in each other’s embrace.
Bai Yue held the Omega from behind, her face buried in the nape of her neck. The gland sat right by her lips, emitting an alluring sweet scent. Instinct clamored to leave a mark, even if just temporary. But she remembered the rules.
“Sleep for a bit,” she said indistinctly, tightening her arm.
The body in her arms softened down, her breathing gradually turning steady and long. Bai Yue closed her eyes as well, her last thought before consciousness sank into darkness being: This was probably the least boring night she had experienced in recent months.
When the sunlight pierced through the gap in the curtains, Bai Yue woke up.
Out of habit, she reached out her hand toward her side.
Empty.
Opening her eyes, she was the only person left in bed. The pillow on the other side bore an indentation, the sheets were messy, and the ambiguous scent left behind from the mixture of white peach and agarwood still lingered in the air.
But the person was gone.
Bai Yue sat up, ran a hand through her hair, and called out, “Hey?”
No response.
She got out of bed, threw on a shirt, and walked out of the bedroom barefoot. The living room was vacant, and the clothes scattered from last night had already been cleared away, including the other woman’s. On the small round table in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, her car keys and wallet sat entirely untouched.
Gone. Without a sound.
The corner of Bai Yue’s mouth twitched. Slipping away unnoticed after a one-night stand was not something she had never done before. But usually, she was the one to leave first. This feeling… was somewhat fresh.
Turning back to the bedroom to prepare for a shower, her gaze caught sight of something sitting on the nightstand.
Two one-hundred-yuan bills were pressed down by an empty wine glass. The crisp, brand-new red color looked piercingly bright under the morning light.
Bai Yue stared at those two bills for a full ten seconds.
Then, she laughed.
She laughed out of pure exasperation.
“Paid services?” She picked up the bills, the sharp edges of the paper slicing across her finger pad. “Should I feel insulted, or should I admire your creativity?”
The phone rang at this exact moment. The words “Matriarch” bounced across the screen.
Bai Yue took a deep breath and answered the call, her eyes still glued to the two bills.
“Are you awake yet? Do not forget the blind date tonight at seven!” Her mother’s voice was forever filled with a vitality that defied her age. “I am telling you, this girl is exceptionally wonderful this time. She just came back from studying abroad, very quiet and cultured. She never goes out to fool around; she is a proper Omega…”
Bai Yue walked to the window, pulling the curtains open with a sharp whoosh. Sunlight flooded inside as the city woke up beneath her feet. She looked at her own blurry reflection on the glass, then looked back at the bills in her hand.
“Did you hear me? Do not dare screw this up for me again!” her mother urged.
“Got it,” Bai Yue’s voice sounded a bit hoarse. “A good girl, right?”
“Yes! Exceptionally well-behaved!”
Bai Yue pulled out a smile devoid of any warmth.
“Sure.” She casually stuffed the two bills into her pants pocket. “Good girls are nice.”
“I like good girls the most.”
