The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 4
After returning to her room, Fēng Xī locked the door. She leaned one hand on the sink and frantically used a towel to wipe her face.
After washing off some of her makeup, she stared blankly at her reflection, clearly seeing the faint dark circles under her eyes and her slightly pale complexion.
Had I been too impulsive just now, humiliating Hé Yànhuì in front of everyone?
Fēng Xī completely removed the rest of her makeup in the bathroom, then put on a face mask and lay listlessly on her bed.
Given Hé Yànhuì’s personality, she’d probably come up with some scheme tomorrow to get back at her for embarrassing her today. It could be releasing some dirt on her Weibo, or maybe using her connections to snatch Fēng Xī’s role.
Fēng Xī was only a supporting actress this time. Given Hé Yànhuì’s ego, she probably wouldn’t bother stealing the role. She’d most likely just release some dirt on her instead.
They say the person who knows you best is often your enemy, and that was certainly true for Hé Yànhuì and Fēng Xī.
After getting back, the more Hé Yànhuì thought about it, the angrier she got. After fuming in bed for a while, she made a phone call and hired a “water army” to release negative information about Fēng Xī.
“Sister Huì, Fēng Xī hasn’t been up to much lately,” the head of the water army said. He and Hé Yànhuì had a long-standing business relationship, so he spoke without pretense. “If we’re going to stir things up, we’ll have to dig up some old dirt.”
“Have your paparazzi not gotten any new material recently? What about your old stockpiles?” Hé Yànhuì asked.
“Sister Huì, you know Fēng Xī. She’s impervious to both threats and persuasion. She’s either filming or she’s filming. We were lucky to even get shots of her at that banquet the other day,” the water army boss complained.
Fēng Xī was different from other celebrities they couldn’t get dirt on. Most stars without scandals were just very good at hiding them, but Fēng Xī had no scandals because she genuinely did nothing scandalous.
When Fēng Xī first became an overnight sensation, countless paparazzi followed her, only to be outlasted by her. After all, if they couldn’t get a juicy scoop, they couldn’t make a living.
“Then dig up the old material from a while ago. Didn’t you take photos of her drunk? You didn’t get any follow-up shots that night anyway, so just say she slept with an investor,” Hé Yànhuì said, well-versed in the entertainment industry’s tricks. As long as the water army was effective, they could turn white into black.
“Done. Since you put it that way, Sister Huì, I’ll make sure the job gets done right,” the water army boss replied. “Just wait. Fēng Xī will be trending tomorrow.”
Hé Yànhuì’s expression softened. “I’ll send you the deposit in a moment, and the rest once the job is finished.”
“Sounds good, Sister Huì. You can rest assured.”
The water army was quick to act, so quick that Fēng Xī was woken up by her agent’s call the next morning.
“Hello, Sister Yán, why are you calling so early? What’s up?” Fēng Xī asked, her voice still thick with sleep.
“Fēng Xī, be honest with me, did anything happen at Director Liú Zhì’s dinner party that night?” Sūn Yán asked anxiously. She had been out of town at the time and didn’t know the specifics of the banquet, only that Fēng Xī’s assistant had done something inappropriate.
Hearing Sūn Yán’s words, Fēng Xī’s sleepiness vanished. “Don’t worry, Sister Yán, I was fine that night. I just found a room and slept it off.”
“Nothing really happened?” Sūn Yán asked, scrolling through web pages on her computer, repeatedly confirming the information.
“Nope, nothing happened. I just offended that investor, that’s all,” Fēng Xī said.
“Good. Fēng Xī, don’t pay any attention to what’s being said online. I’ll arrange for someone to deal with it immediately,” Sūn Yán said, her confidence restored by Fēng Xī’s answer.
After the call, Fēng Xī opened Weibo. Seeing the 999+ new notifications, she knew she was being attacked again.

Gossip Queen: According to an insider, a certain actress with the last name F was abandoned by her sugar daddy a few days ago and was photographed covering her mouth and running towards the bathroom. Anonymous sources suggest Fēng Xī was originally invited to be the female lead in Director Liú Zhì’s new work but was dropped due to her conduct issues, causing her role to be given to someone else. It’sFridayToday: If I remember correctly, wasn’t there news about this a week ago? Back then, it was just about Fēng Xī getting drunk, so why is it being brought up again, and now it’s about being abandoned by a sugar daddy?
IWantToGetRich: Wow, these are frontal shots. The former movie queen really was drunk; judging by the animated image, she was pretty out of it.
ILoveXībǎo: My Xī Bǎo doesn’t have a sugar daddy! Spreading rumors with over 500 retweets is a crime!
The initial comments were normal, but after the water army got involved, the comment section took a sharp turn.
YouAreTooPretty: Sure enough, actress F has a backer. She used to act like such an innocent flower. Disgusting.
Let’sEatNextTime: Drunk late at night + staying over = sugar daddy confirmed.
GetRich35: To be fair, Fēng Xī’s face is clear as day in these photos. Her fans can’t deny it now.
Lin’sGirl76: She must have been abandoned by her sugar daddy. I heard from a friend that Fēng Xī can’t get any acting gigs now and is only playing third female leads.
Once the water army got involved, Fēng Xī was slammed with accusations, causing even neutral bystanders to waver.
Fēng Xī’s fans, seeing their idol being attacked, rolled up their sleeves and began fighting back. As soon as the battle started, all the topics related to Fēng Xī skyrocketed, pushing her to the number one trending spot.
Fēng Xī didn’t show much emotion when she saw the haters trashing her.
She had been in the industry for six years and had been on the trending list countless times. In the beginning, she might have cared deeply about online comments and even cried herself to sleep over malicious private messages.
But she wasn’t the same person she used to be. She had seen much dirtier things, and a few harmless private messages didn’t even make her want to open them, let alone get angry.
Fēng Xī felt that she had let it go, but in another part of Lín City, Mù Qīng felt she couldn’t.
Mù Qīng knew who Fēng Xī was. She had followed Fēng Xī’s Weibo account the day after their encounter, and whenever she thought about that night, she would secretly open Weibo to take a look.
Of course, she was just a simple admirer of Fēng Xī’s beauty, nothing more. It was certainly not to satisfy her own desires.
When she saw Fēng Xī being maliciously attacked, Mù Qīng’s expression darkened. She didn’t use Weibo much, but after seeing the insults in Fēng Xī’s latest post, she couldn’t help but put her hands on the keyboard and start typing.
EverythingInMyEyesIsYou: She clearly got to where she is with a sugar daddy, yet she’s creating this persona of a strong, independent woman. So hypocritical.
MùQīng replied to @EverythingInMyEyesIsYou: I see your profile says you’re three years old. Put down your phone and go drink some milk.
PetiteAndDelicate: As a casual fan, I used to think Fēng Xī was a breath of fresh air in the industry. I never thought she’d be like this. I’m now an anti-fan.
MùQīng replied to @PetiteAndDelicate: Fēng Xī has thousands of fans and won’t miss you. Goodbye.
DoesntLikeWalnuts: It’s a good thing Fēng Xī isn’t in Director Liú Zhì’s movie. She’s confirmed to be box office poison. Her acting is terrible, and she gets all her resources by sleeping around.
MùQīng replied to @DoesntLikeWalnuts: I suggest eating more walnuts to improve your brain function. Fēng Xī is a better actor than you are.
YouAreAllTrash: I wonder how much a night with her costs. Our annual salary probably isn’t even as much as one night of her “hard work.”
MùQīng replied to @YouAreAllTrash: People see the world differently. I’d guess you’re not even worth a hundred yuan for a whole night.
…
After replying to dozens of comments, a knock sounded on Mù Qīng’s office door.
“Come in,” Mù Qīng said without looking up, her fingers still rapidly flying across the keyboard.
“Ms. Mù, the Wang Jiànchéng matter has been handled,” Assistant Chén said, holding an acquisition contract. Seeing that Mù Qīng was busy, she handed it over. “This is the preliminary acquisition contract. His company won’t last much longer.”
Wang Jiànchéng? Mù Qīng stopped typing and took the document. “How is that show doing?”
“Huh? Which show, Ms. Mù? The one Wang Jiànchéng invested in?” Assistant Chén paused before catching on. “Because of Wang Jiànchéng’s cash flow problems, he’s planning to withdraw his investment from the film. It’s only 20 million yuan, but it’s enough to delay his bankruptcy by a few days at most.”
Mu Corporation was the undisputed top corporation in Lín City. As soon as Mù Qīng showed interest in targeting a company with a market value of just over 100 million, many people would be eager to help.
Sure enough, in less than half a month, Wang Jiànchéng’s company began to have financial problems.
“When is he withdrawing the investment?” Mù Qīng asked.
Assistant Chén thought for three seconds. “It should be today. Wang Jiànchéng’s capital chain can’t hold up.”
Mù Qīng tapped her fingers on the desk. “Keep an eye on it. As soon as he withdraws his funds, you invest 30 million yuan.”
“30 million? Ms. Mù, are you getting into the entertainment industry?” Assistant Chén asked, puzzled.
“No, use my personal account. It’s my own personal investment and has nothing to do with the company,” Mù Qīng said.
“Understood. I’ll arrange it right away.” As a good subordinate, Assistant Chén was smart enough not to ask any more questions. She finished her report and was about to leave.
“Wait,” Mù Qīng said, just as the assistant was about to open the door.
Assistant Chén immediately turned around. “Do you have any other instructions, Ms. Mù?”
Mù Qīng hesitated for a moment. “After you’ve made the investment, tell the director to set up a dinner. I want to discuss the lead roles with him.”
Hearing this, Assistant Chén looked even more surprised. “Yes, Ms. Mù.”
If Fēng Xī really did lose that role because of what happened that night, I’m probably partly to blame. Since I’ve already invested the money, I might as well help Fēng Xī get that role back.
