The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 64
Chapter 64
The sea breeze blew in from the river, wild and uninhibited, tousling the hair and clothing of those on the boat.
Lin Mo and Xue Luhe were huddled together under a single overcoat. Lin Mo tilted her head up to look at Xue Luhe and suddenly leaned in for a kiss.
Xue Luhe’s pupils dilated instantly. Without a shred of hesitation, she lowered her head to reciprocate.
The scenery on the boat was brilliant, their reflections dancing on the rippling water.
However, just as their lips were a mere centimeter apart, a surprised voice called out from behind them:
“Xue Luhe? You’re here!”
Lin Mo’s body stiffened. The drunken, hazy state she had been in vanished instantly. She recoiled, scrambling out from under the overcoat and leaving behind a stunned Xue Luhe, whose hands were still reaching out for the person she couldn’t catch.
Xue Luhe stared at Lin Mo’s retreating back, her eyes filled with focused surprise. It seemed as though the rest of the world and everyone in it no longer existed; her gaze could only hold that single figure in front of her.
Approaching from behind Xue Luhe was an elegant beauty in a black evening gown, her hair swept up gracefully, holding a glass of red wine. She smiled brilliantly at Xue Luhe.
“I thought it looked like your silhouette from behind, but I didn’t expect it to actually be you. What brought you to a cruise in Thailand? I recall you have several yachts of your own back home.”
Xue Luhe’s gaze slowly shifted toward her. Her expression was menacing, darker than storm clouds on a rainy day.
“Get lost. I don’t want to see you.”
When dealing with outsiders, Xue Luhe was not polite in the slightest. Even though this woman had been her best friend during their school days, she had absolutely no desire to see her right now.
The beauty swirled her wine glass, clearly startled, but then gave a tight-lipped smile.
“It seems I’ve intruded. Luhe, please continue. I’m leaving. Let’s catch up on WeChat when you’re free.”
She gave a polite and warm wave, cast an inconspicuous glance toward Lin Mo, and turned to walk away gracefully. She blended back into the glamorous crowd on the deck, immediately surrounded by men and women eager to please her.
After this interruption, Lin Mo stood by the railing, chilled to the bone by the sea breeze. She finally realized she had acted like a complete fool just now.
She had actually been about to kiss her…
Was it courage given by Fish Leong? In that moment, she felt like a different person entirely. How was Xue Luhe supposed to look at her from now on?
Moreover, Lin Mo felt she hadn’t truly decided whether she wanted to be with Xue Luhe or not. She enjoyed the time spent with the “current” Xue Luhe, but deep down, there was still a lack of trust. She would frequently be reminded of the past.
Furthermore, whether Xue Luhe had truly reformed was still an unknown. Lin Mo was a very cautious person—essentially a rabbit who wanted to bury itself in its burrow forever. Naturally, she wouldn’t take a new step before things were certain.
Besides, she wondered if Xue Luhe had even been willing… The more Lin Mo thought about it, the more she felt she had completely humiliated herself. Fortunately, that woman had interrupted them. The more she thought about it, the more she felt she should thank her.
Xue Luhe walked over, her expression looking extremely displeased.
“Continue.”
She stood very close to Lin Mo. Being tall, she looked down at her with a cold, majestic air, uttering those two words.
Lin Mo shrank back and shook her head, asking preemptively, “Who was that beauty? She seemed very familiar with you.”
Xue Luhe frowned impatiently. “A classmate from when I studied abroad. We haven’t been in touch for years. She’s not important.”
Lin Mo gave a soft “Oh.” Unable to think of a way to change the subject, she stiffly turned her head away. “Nothing happened just now. Just forget about it.”
A silence fell between them.
With her back to her, Lin Mo couldn’t sense Xue Luhe’s emotions. Her heart was in her throat, though she didn’t know what she was afraid of.
After a long while, Xue Luhe suddenly moved. She reached out from behind and put her arm around Lin Mo’s shoulders.
“Since you’re no longer willing… then I’ll do it.”
This magnetic, seductive sentence drifted into Lin Mo’s ears with the sea breeze, but Lin Mo didn’t have time to process the information.
She felt Xue Luhe’s kiss behind her ear—light, soft, delicate, and lingering. Xue Luhe kissed her bit by bit, moving from behind the ear to the translucent top of the ear, then following the curve of the cartilage all the way down, finally taking the plump earlobe into her mouth.
Lin Mo trembled all over. Her heart felt like it was about to explode. She wanted to break away but couldn’t; every part of her body felt weak and tingly.
This storm that started from her ear quickly radiated through her entire body, turning her into a wasteland after a nuclear blast—completely powerless to resist, and even powerless to perceive the details.
She didn’t know how much time had passed; she had completely forgotten about time and space. The sea breeze, the noise of the crowd, and the chaotic lights could not distract her. Every ounce of her focus was on the skin being kissed by Xue Luhe.
Xue Luhe kissed her ear and then followed her cheek to the edge of Lin Mo’s lips. Lin Mo twitched her head sensitively, a mix of fear and shyness, but Xue Luhe’s movements soon stopped.
“Mmm…”
A sigh escaped Lin Mo’s lips. Even she didn’t know if she wanted Xue Luhe to continue.
Xue Luhe’s nose rubbed against the side of Lin Mo’s nose, nuzzling up and down. The action reminded Lin Mo of a large dog showing affection to its owner on TV.
“You smell so good…”
Xue Luhe’s voice was airy. Because she was so close, this short, sigh-like sentence still found its way into Lin Mo’s ear.
Lin Mo felt her chest filling with something; she had no idea how to react, so she just stood there motionless. Xue Luhe’s breathing was distinct, alternating between cold and hot against the side of her cheek.
“Lin Mo… if you don’t say yes soon, I won’t be able to hold back.” Xue Luhe continued to say in that sighing tone.
“I…”
“Be my girlfriend. Please.”
“I…”
Lin Mo suddenly felt like crying. This was likely a natural reaction to extreme excitement and pressure. She really wanted to cry.
“Clearly, you like me now too…”
Xue Luhe continued to nuzzle Lin Mo’s cheek, nose, and ear—a mixture of intimacy and pleading. The sheer urgency could be felt from her movements alone.
Tears began to spill uncontrollably from Lin Mo’s eyes, her emotions deeply complicated. A single tear rolled down her cheek and onto Xue Luhe’s skin.
Xue Luhe immediately stopped moving. Her body went stiff. She very seriously used the tip of her tongue to lightly touch that tear, taking it into her mouth to taste it.
“Why are you crying? Don’t cry. If you’re not willing, then you’re not willing. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have forced you. Don’t cry!”
Xue Luhe’s hand, which had been tightly gripping Lin Mo’s shoulder, quickly released its hold. She retreated, bowing her head and apologizing profusely.
Lin Mo turned around, wanting to say something, but a sob escaped her the moment she opened her mouth. Xue Luhe’s expression became visibly more panicked. She stepped back even further, looking completely at a loss—a rare sight for someone like her.
Lin Mo bit her lip, eventually lowering her head and whispering, “You don’t need to apologize. It’s my problem. I think… I might just need more time…”
The sea breeze continued to blow as before, but the air between the two had completely changed. Both remained silent. It was a long time before Xue Luhe spoke:
“Let’s go back. It’s cold here.”
Lin Mo followed silently behind Xue Luhe, returning to the cabin below the deck.
It was currently the time for late-night snacks. Music played, the lights were grand, and many beautiful women and ladyboys accompanied customers as they ate and drank. Amidst the golden lights, Lin Mo simply sat silently in a corner, wanting neither to eat nor move.
Xue Luhe sat beside her, equally silent and still. They sat facing each other like two wooden figures, both feeling a bit of regret and a bit of confusion.
During the music, the beauty in black who had been holding the red wine earlier returned. This time she held a glass of champagne. Smiling broadly, she bypassed Xue Luhe and spoke to Lin Mo:
“Hello, beautiful. Are you a friend of Luhe’s? Would you like to have a dance with me?”
Lin Mo looked up with a dismal smile and dejectedly declined.
The beauty was not discouraged. She sat down next to Lin Mo and handed her a small dessert. “If you’re in a bad mood, you should eat something sweet.”
The look Xue Luhe shot her from across the table was murderous, but the beauty didn’t care at all, even turning to smile at Xue Luhe.
Xue Luhe lowered her voice, which was thick with infinite rage: “Yu Wanyi! What do you think you’re doing?”
So this beauty is named Yu Wanyi… such a cultured-sounding name, it suits her well. The thought flashed through Lin Mo’s mind before she sank back into her low mood.
She felt she had performed terribly just now—so terribly that she began to doubt if she was even fit for a relationship. She used to think that even if she hadn’t “eaten pork, she had seen the pig run”—that love was just a simple thing—but now she realized it wasn’t like that at all. Love was incredibly difficult.
One had to be full of courage, yet understand boundaries; one had to constantly deal with gains and losses while scrutinizing one’s own behavior… it was too hard, like the process of reshaping one’s life.
Absorbed in these thoughts, Lin Mo really had no time to focus on the great beauty Yu Wanyi. Fortunately, Yu Wanyi seemed very carefree. Even after being snapped at by Xue Luhe, she still smiled brilliantly.
“This seems to be a public party, doesn’t it? I don’t think I need your permission to talk to anyone, Luhe.”
Xue Luhe bit out through clenched teeth, “Can’t you see we don’t want to talk right now?”
Yu Wanyi raised a hand to her lips, lightly covering them as she laughed with feigned surprise. “Is that so? Are you the tapeworm in this young lady’s stomach?”
Xue Luhe suddenly looked like she was about to slam the table, but she restrained herself, merely glaring at Yu Wanyi. Lin Mo was a bit afraid that she would provoke Xue Luhe, so she quickly spoke to Yu Wanyi in rejection:
“Miss, I’m sorry, but I’m really not in the mood for conversation right now.”
Yu Wanyi reached out a slender hand and, like a magic trick, produced a palm-sized notebook and pulled a fountain pen from its center.
“Give me your number, okay? When you feel like talking, you can call me.”
Yu Wanyi held the notebook and pen out to Lin Mo, her expression mischievous, her eyes occasionally drifting toward Xue Luhe.
Lin Mo hesitated for a moment. Thinking that this was Xue Luhe’s classmate and they seemed to have a good relationship, she felt she should be polite. So, she took the pen and wrote her name and phone number in the notebook.
Yu Wanyi watched Lin Mo write with a smile. Once she finished, Yu Wanyi closed the notebook, turned to Xue Luhe, and said:
“Old classmate, see you around.”
She waved at Xue Luhe with a charming smile, carrying a sense of nonchalant sexiness—she was the type that was very enticing.
Xue Luhe ignored her.
Yu Wanyi soon drifted away as if treading on clouds. Lin Mo stared at her retreating back curiously for a while and asked Xue Luhe:
“She seems quite amazing.”
Xue Luhe said crossly, “When we were in school, she was originally my friend. But at the graduation party, she confessed to me in public. After I rejected her, we stopped keeping in touch.”
A light dawned on Lin Mo, and a sour feeling began to spread in her heart. She couldn’t help but ask:
“Then do you think she still likes you?”
Xue Luhe arched an eyebrow, confident and domineering. “Of course. Asking for your number was just a ruse; her true goal was simply to make me angry.”
The sour feeling in Lin Mo’s heart intensified. She had noticed just now that while Yu Wanyi claimed to be asking for her number, her eyes were constantly drifting toward Xue Luhe. Her intentions were clearly elsewhere.
With her heart sour and her mouth turning bitter, Lin Mo couldn’t help but think: A woman as glamorous as Yu Wanyi is the one who should be with Xue Luhe, right?
“I think I’m so terrible… you should be with Yu Wanyi…”
Lin Mo lowered her head, wanting to bury her face behind her glass as she said those words.
Xue Luhe’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“After all this time, haven’t you realized? To me, there is only one person in the world who is worthy of me, and that is you!”
