The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The two of them actually finished the meal face-to-face.
Lin Mo finished all of her green vegetables and stared longingly at the plates on Xue Luhe’s side, which were almost untouched. She tried to use her puppy-dog eyes to move the other woman, but to no effect.
Xue Luhe ate very little. With every bite she took, she would give Lin Mo a meaningful look. Whenever her gaze fell on Lin Mo’s chopsticks—which were secretly inching toward the meat—Lin Mo would immediately sit up straight and act as if nothing had happened.
After dinner, staff came in to clear the table and clean the room. Throughout the entire process, Xue Luhe sat nearby, focusing her serious and intense gaze on Lin Mo.
Lin Mo felt incredibly self-conscious under the scrutiny. She pretended to be preoccupied with her phone, keeping her head down. She searched for news about Xue Luhe and found that her latest movie was currently in theaters, topping the box office charts with rave reviews. In this film, Xue Luhe played a beautiful and gentle office worker.
“Xue Luhe is so beautiful, ahhh, I want to sleep with her!”
Seeing this comment, Lin Mo complained inwardly: Sister, if you slept with her, you might find yourself tied up with a whip and sent to the basement in the middle of the night~
“The portrayal of this office worker is amazing. Xue Luhe is the best in the world! Everyone, type ‘Xue Luhe is awesome’ in the chat!”
Lin Mo: I’m the one who should type “Xue Luhe is a pervert” in the chat!
“Sigh, why did the husband want to divorce her? Such a good wife. If it were me, I wouldn’t divorce her even if I died!”
Lin Mo: Heh, if you were me, you’d be begging for a divorce every single day.
The Protagonist’s Appearance
While browsing through Weibo’s entertainment news, Lin Mo suddenly spotted a new “Breaking News” bulletin:
“Rising Star Mu Fei and Superstar Best Actress Xue Luhe: Relationship Exposed? Reporters recently spotted Xue Luhe’s car parked outside Mu Fei’s apartment complex. At 1:00 AM, Mu Fei came out and left in the car, returning only at 8:00 AM the next morning. Is this solid proof that Mu Fei has climbed her way up to Xue Luhe? What do you think?”
Lin Mo’s heart skipped a beat. She knew Mu Fei all too well; she was the core character of the entire book—the “Uke” Protagonist, the popular rising star!
Was this part of the original plot? Xue Luhe picking up Mu Fei in the middle of the night and returning her in the morning… what happened in between?
Unfortunately, Lin Mo couldn’t remember the details. She only vaguely recalled that nothing ever actually happened between Mu Fei and Xue Luhe. Firstly, because Mu Fei didn’t love her and only saw Xue Luhe as a backup; and secondly, because Xue Luhe refused to force herself on the precious Mu Fei.
As she was racking her brain, a whisper came to her ear: “Are you jealous?”
Lin Mo shook her head subconsciously. She looked up blankly, and the beautiful face inches away made her breath catch.
Xue Luhe rested her left hand on the edge of the bed and reached out with her right to stroke Lin Mo’s cheek. Lin Mo’s skin was sensitive; where the fingers touched, her cheek quickly turned rosy and tender, like a succulent peach.
“You’re clearly jealous, aren’t you? Still hiding it?”
Xue Luhe’s voice was gentle, but Lin Mo could hear the hidden trap beneath the words. Lin Mo shook her head with a look of pure righteousness. “I’m not jealous. I have amnesia. Even if I liked you before, I have no feelings now.”
Xue Luhe’s fingers brushed lightly over her cheek as she laughed lazily. “What if I told you I really like Mu Fei?”
Lin Mo felt her opportunity had come. She suppressed her excitement and said: “Then you can divorce me and go chase her. I don’t mind.”
Xue Luhe stared fixedly at Lin Mo.
The face before her was flushed with a peach-like pink, her eyes were clear as water, and she looked utterly fragile—the literal image of a “Little White Flower” swaying in the wind. This was not the Lin Mo that Xue Luhe knew—not the arrogant, abrasive, and violently crazy Lin Mo.
Xue Luhe frowned and suddenly said, “But I mind.”
Lin Mo opened her mouth, speechless. How are you supposed to respond to that? You’re the one who says you like someone else, and you’re the one who says you mind the divorce. What do you actually want?!
Truly, never try to guess the mind of a pervert!
The “Goodnight” Embrace
After saying that, Xue Luhe rubbed her eyes, stood up, and walked toward the door. Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief, praying for her to leave and never come back so she could rest in peace.
However, Xue Luhe’s exit was a drawn-out affair. She lingered, going to the walk-in closet for a coat, then to the vanity for jewelry. She even walked to the dining table to check if it had been wiped clean.
Lin Mo held her breath until she was nearly blue in the face, not daring to ask anything. Finally, at the door, Xue Luhe dropped a simple: “Rest well.”
The door opened and closed. Lin Mo finally let out a long, heavy sigh, her back soaked in cold sweat.
While Xue Luhe was there, she was as tense as a drawn bow. Now that she was finally gone, her muscles felt like they had undergone a session of torture—especially her throbbing ankle. She pulled her foot up to inspect the bandage, wondering if she should take it off. It was hot out; she didn’t want to get a heat rash.
As she was holding her foot in a twisted, awkward pose, the door suddenly swung open again!
Click!
Lin Mo was so startled that she toppled over on the bed, landing flat on her back. From her perspective, an upside-down Xue Luhe was walking toward her across the ceiling.
“Ahhh!” Lin Mo scrambled to sit up, accidentally bumping her injured foot and yelping in pain.
Xue Luhe walked over, now looking normal from Lin Mo’s upright position. She looked down with a smirk at Lin Mo’s disheveled state.
“So, when I’m not around, you like to… roll around in bed?”
Lin Mo looked miserable, sitting properly and complaining in her head: Do you think you’re funny? People who make dirty jokes are the absolute worst! So greasy!
Seeing Lin Mo’s dejected silence, Xue Luhe actually laughed. This laughter sounded genuinely pleasant and pure, without the strange mockery or irony from before. She sounded like a normal young woman.
Lin Mo thought it actually sounded quite nice.
Xue Luhe looked down at her again. “I forgot something just now.”
Lin Mo blinked. “What?”
Xue Luhe reached out, sat on the edge of the bed, and suddenly pulled Lin Mo into her arms, embracing her gently and patting her back.
“In the past, you loved it when I gave you a goodnight hug every night. Don’t you remember?”
Xue Luhe was surrounded by a faint, cold fragrance. She was truly soft and fragrant. When she chose to be gentle, her voice was stunningly beautiful, creating a sense of comfort that made Lin Mo want to lose herself in it…
However—stop!
Lin Mo saw right through it. This was just another attempt to bait her! A “sugar-coated bullet” is still a bullet. She could not get addicted and ignore the danger.
Resisting the temptation of the gentle embrace, Lin Mo stated firmly: “I really have amnesia! I don’t remember anything!”
As expected, Xue Luhe immediately released her. Her face returned to that mocking, amused expression. “Your acting is truly full of holes.”
Lin Mo’s heart skipped a beat, but she kept her brows furrowed stubbornly. “I’m not acting. I really don’t remember. Besides, you said you like Mu Fei, so our relationship couldn’t have been good!”
Are you kidding me? The original owner was in a contract marriage with you. If the relationship was good enough for nightly hugs, would you be hanging around Mu Fei every day? Don’t forget, the original owner was essentially driven to death by you! And I still have a fresh injury on my foot!
The more Lin Mo thought about it, the angrier she got. She glared at Xue Luhe and blurted out: “I know you’re trying to bait me. I don’t feel a single ounce of love from your actions. So even if we were wives before, I have! ZERO! FEELINGS! for you now!”
Xue Luhe looked at Lin Mo and was inevitably surprised.
Lin Mo’s anger made her look like a small animal, waving claws that weren’t scary at all. Her eyes were wide and round, acting tough while clearly being scared. It was indeed completely different from before. The old Lin Mo would have flipped tables and screamed, but she would never have been this controlled, nor would she have had such clear eyes.
Clear as a spring, yet Xue Luhe couldn’t see through her.
Xue Luhe gave a light chuckle. “You’re right.”
She turned and left, her footsteps retreating quickly and decisively.
A New Morning, A New Test
This time, Lin Mo sat upright for a long time before she finally relaxed. It seemed she could finally sleep.
But having just arrived in this world, her sleep was fitful. She dreamed of her father hitting her and her mother lying in a cold coffin. She cried until her heart felt like it was tearing, yet no one could hear her…
When she woke up in the morning, her face was covered in tears, and her pillow was wet.
While she was still immersed in the painful atmosphere of her dream, a beautiful voice spoke from above:
“What did you dream about that made you so sad?”
Lin Mo looked up into a face that wore no makeup but was still as stunning as a lotus flower. Xue Luhe was looking at her inquisitively.
“Did you dream about the past? Tell me about it?”
Lin Mo knew without even thinking: She’s testing me again! She still wants to find a crack in my story!
Truly, a Great Villain must have an unshakeable will. Someone who isn’t stubborn enough to pursue their goals at all times doesn’t deserve to be a Great Villain!
