As the two approached, Wei Youning asked, “Which of you knows how to ride horses?”

Ye Qinglan nodded slightly, “I know a little, but not much.”

Ning Yunshu added, “Same here.”

Wei Youning immediately looked rather pleased with herself.

“Well, you can come to me if you have any questions. Not to brag, but I’m quite skilled at horseback riding.”

Ye Qinglan smiled gently, “Alright, we’ll trouble Teacher Wei then.”

Du Wenjun chimed in, “Teacher Wei here has benefited from filming too many ancient martial arts dramas.”

Wei Youning laughed, “Exactly, finally something I’m good at.”

The group shared a laugh as the host approached, saying, “Seems everyone can’t wait to get started.”

Ning Yunshu grinned, “That’s good.”

Xiao Wenjing looked between them, suddenly feeling like a third wheel. “I’ll leave you to it and check on the others,” she said before taking her leave.

At Xiao Wenjin’s initiative to leave, Ning Yunshu couldn’t help but curl her lips upward before turning to Ye Qinglan: “Sister, let’s get on the horses and go for a ride.”

“Alright,” Ye Qinglan responded with a smile, mounting the horse with the staff’s assistance before carefully following Ning Yunshu’s lead.

Elsewhere, Ye Qinglan and Ning Yunshu were thoroughly enjoying their ride. Still somewhat nervous on horseback, Ye maintained a leisurely pace while Ning matched her speed, chatting and laughing together.

“Hey, this doesn’t seem like just ‘a little’ experience,” Ye Qinglan remarked, managing the reins while smiling at Ning.

Ning admitted honestly, “I used to ride with my grandfather in Australia.”

Ye nodded as Ning advised, “Relax, sister. Horses sense your emotions, the more tense you are, the more nervous they get.”

Ye took a deep breath. “I’ll try.”

After a moment’s thought, Ning grasped the reins with one hand and extended the other. “Here, hold the reins with one hand and take mine with the other. Then you won’t need to worry.”

Seeing the logic, Ye clasped Ning’s hand. The familiar warmth from their joined palms did help her relax.

“Whew.” Ye exhaled in relief. “That really does help.”

Ning smiled softly. “Good.”

With a smile, Ye Qinglan took Ning Yunshu’s hand and replied,
“In that case, we’d be happy to oblige.”
