The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 63
Ning Yunshu led Ye Qinglan to a quiet corner.
With a hint of concern, Ye Qinglan said, “What if Aunt Yun can’t find us later?”
Ning Yunshu smiled reassuringly. “No need to worry. I’m here, so just relax.”
Ye Qinglan chuckled. “It’s not that I’m worried. Never mind. It’s not like you’d sell me off anyway.”
“Of course not. I definitely wouldn’t,” Ning Yunshu declared, almost thumping her chest for emphasis.
The corners of Ye Qinglan’s lips curled up as she hooked her arm through Ning Yunshu’s. “Then I’ll leave it to Little Ning Zong?”
Ning Yunshu felt lightheaded, her posture unconsciously stiffening. Noticing her tension, Ye Qinglan teased, “Hey, relax a little. It feels like I’m forcing you to come along.”
“That’s not it,” Ning Yunshu muttered, rubbing the tip of her nose.
She had just instinctively imagined a scene walking hand in hand with Ye Qinglan down a petal-strewn corridor, surrounded by the blessings of friends and family.
Ye Qinglan eyed her suspiciously, but Ning Yunshu cleared her throat and quickly changed the subject. “It’s nothing. Come on, I’ll introduce you to some people.”
Without giving Ye Qinglan a chance to question further, she guided her through the venue.
Ning Yunshu introduced her to several renowned domestic directors. Their relationship was an open secret in the industry, so everyone treated Ye Qinglan with courtesy. Ye Qinglan, in turn, remained humble. Before the event began, Ning Yunshu had already made sure to introduce her to many attendees.
When the auction started, the two found seats beside Yun Xi and listened to the host’s speech. Neither had anything they particularly wanted to bid on, so they leaned close, whispering to each other. Yun Xi paid them no mind, chatting with Xu Su instead and purchasing two oil paintings.
The pair nibbled on snacks and chatted until the auction ended, then accompanied Yun Xi to collect the paintings before seeing her off to her hotel. Only then did they return home.
After freshening up, they turned in early.
The next morning, Ning Yunshu left for the office, and Ye Qinglan hitched a ride to her own company. When she arrived at Ke Ying’s office, Ke Ying was on a call, so Ye Qinglan quietly took a seat and poured herself a glass of water.
Once Ke Ying finished the call and sat across from her, she said, “The Ten-Day Operation has been submitted for review. You’ll be busy from now on, traveling nationwide with the crew for promotions. Your schedule might clash with the variety show, but I’ve already coordinated with the production team, they’ll delay the next episode to avoid conflicts. After all, most of the cast are from the film crew.”
Ye Qinglan nodded in acknowledgment.
“I’ll send you the itinerary. Prioritize the film promotions. If things go well, Qinglan, you know what this means, it could secure your second Best Actress trophy. And this is only your second film.” Ke Ying’s expression was grave.
“If you win this one, then push for another, you’ll surpass Du Wenjun as the reigning queen of the silver screen.”
Listening to this, Ye Qinglan’s breath grew heavier, her nerves and excitement mingling uncontrollably.
This was indeed an offer too tempting to refuse. If she could really pull it off, she could openly acknowledge her relationship with Ning Yunshu without any reservations.
“I understand,” Ye Qinglan nodded in agreement.
“Good. Now go inform President Ning,” Ke Ying said.
Ye Qinglan looked puzzled: “Why should I tell her?”
Ke Ying rolled her eyes: “You’ll be away for at least half a month. Do you think your President Ning will be willing to let you go?”
Ye Qinglan coughed lightly: “It’s work-related. She’ll have to endure it.”
Ke Ying had no interest in continuing this conversation and simply motioned for her to pack up and leave.
Ye Qinglan quickly slipped back home and immediately called Ning Yunshu to explain the situation.
“What?” Ning Yunshu’s voice clearly betrayed her reluctance to be apart for so long.
“But what if I miss you?” Ning Yunshu asked pitifully.
Ye Qinglan smiled: “It’s not like I’m never coming back.”
“But I’ll miss you. We haven’t been apart for this long in ages,” Ning Yunshu muttered.
Ye Qinglan chuckled: “President Ning, aren’t you at work right now? Mind your tone.”
“It’s fine. At most, only Sister Qin Yun will come looking for me,” Ning Yunshu replied nonchalantly.
Amused, Ye Qinglan added: “Well, that’s up to you. I’ll be traveling with the crew.”
Ning Yunshu immediately caught her drift: “Got it. We’ll talk more when I get home. I’ve prepared a lunchbox for you, don’t forget to eat it.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up with a smile, Ye Qinglan busied herself reviewing her schedule.
When Ning Yunshu returned that evening, she excitedly announced: “I talked to Sister Xu, and she agreed to let me visit the set occasionally.”
“Occasionally?” Ye Qinglan grinned, pinching her chin. “Really just occasionally?”
Ning Yunshu rubbed her nose: “She won’t let me follow you the whole time.”
Ye Qinglan burst out laughing and kissed the corner of her lips. “Then you’ll have to bear with it.”
Ning Yunshu whined and wrapped her arms around Ye Qinglan’s waist. “Then you’d better make it up to me these next couple of days.”
Ye Qinglan’s face flushed instantly. “Behave yourself.”
Ning Yunshu lightly nibbled her earlobe. “Won’t you miss me after being apart for so long?”
Ye Qinglan’s sensitive spots had long been memorized by Ning Yunshu, and this gentle bite immediately left her weak all over. Her eyes misting slightly, she pushed at Ning Yunshu’s shoulders. “Get up. We haven’t eaten yet.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled lowly, gazing into her eyes. “I’m not hungry. What about you?”
Ye Qinglan opened her mouth but then averted her gaze. Smirking, Ning Yunshu leaned in and captured her lips.
After quite some time of fooling around, it was only when Ye Qinglan complained of hunger that Ning Yunshu reluctantly got up to cook. Meanwhile, Ye Qinglan took a quick shower.
After dinner, as Ye Qinglan packed her luggage, Ning Yunshu helped out. Knowing Ye Qinglan had an early start the next day, she behaved herself and didn’t try anything further.
The next morning, Zhou Tiantian, who had been idle for a while, came to pick Ye Qinglan up. Witnessing her artist plant a kiss on Ning Yunshu’s cheek, Zhou Tiantian decided to play dead and pretend she saw nothing, though inwardly, her shipper heart was soaring.
After all, she was the only one privy to this exclusive content.
Thus, she drove off in exceptionally high spirits.
Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but ask, “What’s up with you today? You seem particularly happy.”
Zhou Tiantian cleared her throat lightly, “Ahem, maybe it’s because after such a long break, I’m finally back at work.”
Ye Qinglan found it amusing, “I thought you’d be thrilled not to work.”
“How could that be?” Zhou Tiantian said with a serious expression. “If I didn’t work, I’d feel bad taking money for nothing,” she added with a laugh.
After all, some truths were better left unsaid.
“You.” Ye Qinglan chuckled.
The two met up with the film crew at the airport, greeting familiar faces.
Wei Youning looked at her and teased, “What? No little CEO Ning following you around today?”
“Wei-jie,” Ye Qinglan gave her a helpless look.
Wei Youning waved her hand apologetically, “Sorry, sorry. Got too used to variety shows. It feels strange not seeing her around.”
Ye Qinglan sighed, “We’re not here for a variety show, you know.”
Xu Su walked over and instinctively glanced behind Ye Qinglan, as if afraid Ning Yunshu might have secretly followed.
Wei Youning joked, “See? Director Xu’s reaction is just like ours.”
Ye Qinglan massaged her temples, “She really didn’t come.”
“Ahem.” Xu Su seemed to realize she was overreacting and composed herself. “Since everyone’s here, let’s head to the waiting lounge first.”
“Alright,” the group responded.
In the lounge, they chatted about recent events. Wei Youning and Xu Youyou had stayed an extra day in the town before returning, while Du Wenjun and Xu Chaoyang had gone home, spending two days indoors like Ye Qinglan.
The group laughed and talked until boarding time.
Before boarding, Ye Qinglan sent Ning Yunshu a message and turned off her phone.
By the time Ning Yunshu saw it, Ye Qinglan was already soaring at 30,000 feet.
“Ah!” Ning Yunshu let out a long sigh.
Hearing this, Qin Yun glanced at her before returning to her work.
Her boss was lovesick, nothing she could do about that.
But someone was now completely unable to focus, sprawled over the desk, looking utterly idle.
“Qin Yun-jie, did you book my flight ticket?” Ning Yunshu asked, tilting her head.
Qin Yun looked up from her files helplessly, “It’s booked, but don’t even think about running off now. You have meetings tonight and tomorrow morning.”
She mercilessly crushed Ning Yunshu’s escape plans.
Ning Yunshu groaned dramatically, but Qin Yun pretended not to hear, handing her the prepared meeting materials.
“Here are the documents for the upcoming meeting. Please review them.”
Reluctantly, Ning Yunshu took the files and started reading.
Meanwhile, Ye Qinglan and the others headed straight to the hotel arranged by the crew after landing to drop off their luggage before proceeding to the press conference.
“The Ten-Day Operation” had built up immense anticipation online, and the venue was packed.
Escorted by security, they took the stage to face reporters who fired off prepared questions.
Most journalists-maintained professionalism, asking about daily life on set and filming experiences without crossing lines.
Just as the Q&A was proceeding normally, an unexpected voice suddenly cut in from somewhere.
“May I ask, among the initially confirmed cast members for the production, Teacher Du’s role was originally assigned to Bai Qian. What was the reason for this sudden replacement after preparations had already begun?”
The venue immediately fell silent.
Ye Qinglan blinked in confusion.
Bai Qian? What does she have to do with this?
