The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 56
It wasn’t until late at night that the gathering finally ended.
Back home, Ye Qinglan kicked off her high heels and lazily slumped onto the sofa.
“Ah, I’m exhausted,” Ye Qinglan sighed deeply.
Ning Yunshu neatly arranged their shoes before saying, “You’ve worked hard, sis.”
Ye Qinglan smiled and turned to look at Ning Yunshu. “Ning Yunshu, how did you celebrate your birthdays these past few years?”
Ning Yunshu gave a helpless smile. “Grand occasions, very luxurious, but utterly boring.”
“A room full of people spouting meaningless formalities, forcing me to carefully consider every response just troublesome all around.”
Ye Qinglan clicked her tongue. “Sounds absolutely dreadful.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “Indeed. What about you, sis?”
“Same as always just went home to celebrate with my parents,” Ye Qinglan shrugged.
“What did you wish for on your birthday?” Ning Yunshu cautiously asked.
Ye Qinglan paused, averting her gaze. “Birthday wishes don’t come true if you say them out loud.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Ning Yunshu smiled serenely. “Then I’m lucky, my birthday wish already came true.”
Ye Qinglan looked at her just as Ning Yunshu beamed brightly. “Because I’ve successfully returned to your side.”
Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but laugh. “Such smooth talk.”
“Alright, let’s get ready for bed early. We have to catch the production team’s flight tomorrow afternoon,” Ye Qinglan said.
This time, their destination was abroad, so they needed to leave early. The production team had already booked their tickets for tomorrow afternoon.
But Ning Yunshu leaned in closer. “No need to rush, we’re not leaving until tomorrow afternoon.”
Ye Qinglan grew wary. “What are you up to?”
Ning Yunshu pinned her down and kissed her.
“What do you think?”
“Mmm…”
Ye Qinglan tried to speak, but Ning Yunshu clearly wasn’t going to let her.
In the heat of passion, Ning Yunshu whispered in her ear,
“You called President Xiao so affectionately earlier.”
“Ugh, you’re still jealous of her?”
“You never call me that sweetly.”
“Xiao Shu, you stop!”
A night of passion.
The next morning, Ye Qinglan nudged Ning Yunshu, who was still holding her, her voice hoarse.
“I need water.”
Awakened unceremoniously, Ning Yunshu rubbed her eyes, got up, threw on a robe, and headed to the kitchen.
She poured a glass of water and brought it to Ye Qinglan.
Sitting up, Ye Qinglan drained the glass in one go.
Once her throat felt better, she looked at Ning Yunshu. “I’m hungry.”
Ning Yunshu sighed playfully. “Then I’ll go make breakfast. Why don’t you start packing?”
“Mm,” Ye Qinglan agreed.
Ning Yunshu left the bedroom to wash up in the bathroom, while Ye Qinglan got up, freshened up, changed, and began packing. Their destination was cold, so they packed plenty of warm clothes.
Soon, Ning Yunshu called her for breakfast.
After eating, they finished packing, had a quick lunch, and then had Qin Yun drive them to the airport.
Due to different schedules, only Wei Youning and Xu Youyou were there when they arrived.
Spotting them, Wei Youning greeted,
“Qinglan, President Ning.”
“Sister Wei,” the two replied, taking their seats nearby.
“Why do you two seem a bit out of sorts?” Wei Youning glanced at the pair.
Ye Qinglan paused, subtly glancing at Ning Yunshu before replying, “Yesterday was Xiao Wenjin’s birthday party. We stayed late celebrating and had to wake up early to pack our luggage.”
Wei Youning didn’t question it further, simply nodding. “Then rest well on the flight. It’s a long journey anyway.”
Ye Qinglan agreed.
Their destination was a small Nordic country, a chance to experience foreign landscapes.
By the time they arrived, it would still be afternoon locally, giving them time to rest before the shoot the next day.
They chatted idly until boarding. Once the plane stabilized, Ye Qinglan reclined her seat, slipped on an eye mask, and draped a thin blanket over herself, quickly drifting into a heavy sleep.
Ning Yunshu, however, stayed awake, attending to some work.
As the long flight wore on, Wei Youning and Xu Youyou also dozed off, leaving the cabin in quiet darkness.
When Ye Qinglan awoke, the cabin was dim, save for the faint glow of Ning Yunshu’s tablet beside her.
Noticing her stirring, Ning Yunshu turned and whispered, “Awake? Do you want to sleep a little longer?”
Refreshed from her nap, Ye Qinglan shook her head and asked softly, “Didn’t you rest at all?”
Ning Yunshu gave a light shake of her head. “No, but it’s fine. I’m used to it.”
Ye Qinglan frowned, about to say something, but Ning Yunshu pressed a finger to her lips.
“Don’t worry about me, sister. I’m alright.”
With a quiet sigh, Ye Qinglan relented, though she still murmured, “Just don’t overexert yourself.”
Ning Yunshu curved her lips and leaned in, whispering by her ear, “Being with you never tires me out.”
Ye Qinglan: “???”
Someone was being shameless again!
Mindful of Wei Youning and Xu Youyou resting nearby, Ye Qinglan couldn’t react openly. She gritted her teeth and shot Ning Yunshu a glare.
“Ning Yunshu, just you wait.”
The words were nearly hissed through clenched teeth.
Ning Yunshu merely smirked.
The flight continued uneventfully until the descent, when the flight attendant announced their arrival over the intercom.
Wei Youning removed her eye mask and stretched. “Finally! I’m tired of sleeping.”
“First day of missing my bed already,” Xu Youyou chimed in.
Ning Yunshu stowed her tablet, and once the plane landed, they collected their luggage and disembarked.
“So cold!”
The temperature difference between the countries was stark, and they nearly froze the moment they stepped outside.
“Let’s find a restroom to change first,” Ning Yunshu suggested.
The others agreed, quickly swapping into warmer clothes before leaving the airport.
A waiting staff member escorted them to their pre-booked lodge.
This time, they were headed to a secluded mountain village, a popular tourist spot with well-equipped lodgings. Their chosen accommodation was nestled deeper in the hills, peaceful and undisturbed.
Patches of snow crunched underfoot as they stepped out of the car, the crisp sound echoing in the quiet.
Despite the chill, the air here was far fresher and cleaner than in the city.
“Ah, this environment is so refreshing!” Wei Youning sighed contentedly.
Snow-capped mountains, coniferous forests, and a European-style villa.
At first glance, it was indeed the perfect getaway.
“Professor Du and Professor Jiang won’t arrive until tonight. You can explore the surroundings, but please avoid entering the mountains for now,” the staff reminded them.
“Don’t worry,” Wei Youning replied with a nod.
“We’ll take our leave now. The signal here isn’t great, but if you need anything, just call us on the walkie-talkie. We’ll be staying in a nearby courtyard,” the staff added.
“In that case, won’t we be able to livestream?” Ning Yunshu couldn’t help but ask.
“The livestream uses a dedicated line, so there’s no need to worry about that,” the staff explained.
After hearing this, Ning Yunshu nodded. “Got it. Thanks for your hard work.”
“Not at all. Please rest for now. We’ve left a car for you, if you want to visit the town, feel free to use it,” the staff said before departing in another vehicle.
They had left behind a sturdy off-road vehicle fitted with snow tires.
“Let’s go drop off our luggage first. Since Professor Du and the others aren’t here yet, we can claim the best spots,” Wei Youning said with a laugh, pulling her suitcase.
“Sounds good. They won’t be here until evening anyway,” Ye Qinglan agreed with a smile.
The group entered the villa, where the fireplace was already lit, filling the space with warmth. Downstairs, there was one bedroom, while upstairs had three. After some discussion, Ye Qinglan and Ning Yunshu chose to stay downstairs, while Wei Youning and Xu Youyou took one of the upstairs rooms.
Each room had a small fireplace to ensure warmth as long as they kept the ventilation in check, they wouldn’t freeze.
Once everyone had settled in, Wei Youning wanted to nap, and Xu Youyou was exhausted too, so the two of them rested in their room.
Ning Yunshu wasn’t in the mood for a break, so Ye Qinglan pulled her along for a walk.
The snow had stopped, and as they strolled along the path, chatting, they somehow ended up in the nearby town.
The town had plenty of souvenir shops, and since they were already there, they figured they might as well pick up some gifts for their parents.
Though the prices were steep, they were manageable for the two of them.
The townspeople were warm and welcoming, and since everyone spoke English, there were no language barriers.
Ning Yunshu, in particular, impressed with her fluency, she effortlessly navigated even obscure vocabulary that left Ye Qinglan momentarily stumped.
She even charmed the shopkeeper, who, upon learning Ye Qinglan’s identity, eagerly asked for a photo together. Ye Qinglan naturally agreed, and the shopkeeper proudly hung the picture on the wall behind the counter, gushing about how well-matched they looked. In the end, they even got a generous discount at checkout.
As they stepped outside, Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but click her tongue.
“Not bad, Xiao Shu. No wonder you’re a top-tier entrepreneur.”
Ning Yunshu chuckled. “Jiejie, that wasn’t sarcasm, was it?”
Ye Qinglan shot her a glare.
“Do you really think so little of me?”
Ning Yunshu grinned. “If anything, it’s because you’re amazing people adore you. One day, you’ll definitely shine on the international stage.”
Ye Qinglan’s lips curved upward.
“Stop flattering me, or I might get carried away.”
“How could that happen? You deserve every bit of praise,” Ning Yunshu said earnestly.
Ye Qinglan was thoroughly delighted by her coaxing and pulled her around to browse some more, buying quite a few things. It wasn’t until light snow began to fall outside again that they finally headed back.
By the time they returned to the villa and put away their purchases, the front door was pushed open.
“Hello everyone, did you miss us?”
