The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 38
Facing Ning Yunshu’s coquetry, Ye Qinglan habitually gave her earlobe a gentle pinch.
“Easy for you to say, but we still need to check the schedule for the variety show recording. I’ll have to ask Sister Ke first,” Ye Qinglan said while pulling out her phone to message Ke Ying.
[Ye Qinglan]: Sister Ke, my high school classmates want to organize a reunion and invited both Ning Yunshu and me. Should we go?
This time Ke Ying replied instantly.
[Ke Ying]: Go.
[Ye Qinglan]: ?
Honestly, Ye Qinglan wondered if Ke Ying was too busy to think straight, agreeing so readily.
[Ke Ying]: ?
Seeing this, Ye Qinglan quickly clarified.
[Ye Qinglan]: I mean, our classmates invited us to a reunion together.
[Ke Ying]: I know. That’s why I’m telling you to go. You? What?
[Ye Qinglan]: Okay.
So fierce, Sister Ke!
[Ke Ying]: With your current popularity, it’s good exposure. I’ve already contacted Director Fang about the variety show their preparations will take half a month. As long as you don’t cause any major scandals during this period, you’re free to do whatever.
Relieved, Ye Qinglan replied.
[Ye Qinglan]: Got it. Don’t worry, Sister Ke.
She turned to Ning Yunshu. “Sister Ke agreed.”
“Let me check with them about the date,” Ye Qinglan said before typing again.
Ning Yunshu obediently watched by her side.
[Ye Qinglan]: When’s the reunion?
[Classmate A]: Oh? Our movie queen Ye has time now?
[Ye Qinglan]: I’m pretty free lately. Just let me know once you’ve decided.
[Classmate B]: Wow! If Movie Queen Ye is coming, what about Chairwoman Ning?
[Ning Yunshu]: I’m free too. Just set the time, I’ll cover all venue expenses.
[Classmate C]: Wow! Boss is so generous!
[Classmate D]: Damn it! I’m on a business trip and probably can’t make it! @Classmate C Get me two autographed photos from Movie Queen Ye! I’ll pass them down as family heirlooms!
[Classmate C]: Pfft! How pathetic!
[Classmate A]: How about tomorrow night? It’s right before the weekend perfect for catching up without rushing.
[Classmate B]: Sounds good.
[Classmate C]: Works for me.
[Ning Yunshu]: Alright, I’ll book the hotel. @Classmate A Just send me the final headcount.
[Classmate A]: Yes, Boss.
[Ning Yunshu]: Stop calling me Boss.
[Classmate A]: Understood, Chairwoman Ning.
[Ning Yunshu]: …
Ye Qinglan stifled laughter, her shoulders shaking violently.
Ning Yunshu shot her a resentful look, making Ye Qinglan quickly compose herself.
“Why are you looking at me? I didn’t say anything,” Ye Qinglan feigned innocence.
Ning Yunshu hmphed.
Ye Qinglan clicked her tongue someone was getting bolder.
That afternoon, the two stayed home. Once the attendance was confirmed, Ning Yunshu forwarded it to Qin Yun to arrange the hotel before notifying the group.
Everyone eagerly anticipated the next day’s gathering.
The following morning, after getting ready, Ye Qinglan contacted Zhou Tiantian to prepare gifts for delivery to the hotel. After final preparations at home, they headed out when it was time.
Upon arriving at the hotel, Ye Qinglan as usual only wore sunglasses as she stepped out from Ning Yunshu’s passenger seat. Ning Yunshu handed the car keys to the valet before linking arms with Ye Qinglan and walking inside.
“Ning Yunshu, you’re so clingy,” Ye Qinglan muttered through gritted teeth while maintaining a proper smile.
“Well, I need to show everyone I’m willingly close to my sister,” Ning Yunshu replied with a laugh.
Ye Qinglan sighed helplessly as the two made a grand entrance into the hotel. A waiter escorted them to the private dining room where familiar lively chatter could be heard even before they entered.
Opening the door revealed many had already arrived, who all stood up applauding when they saw them.
“Our class’s esteemed Chairwoman Ning and superstar Ye have finally arrived!”
“We’ve been waiting so long, we were afraid you wouldn’t come!”
Amid the teasing, Ye Qinglan smiled, “Don’t worry, even if we were too busy to come, Xiao Shu would’ve covered the bill for you all.”
The group burst into laughter.
Taking nearby seats, the two immediately became the center of attention. Several girls even pulled out Ye Qinglan merchandise, asking for autographs. Though amused, Ye Qinglan obliged her classmates. Meanwhile, Ning Yunshu chatted with other entrepreneurial classmates about stocks and startup fundamentals, generously offering valuable advice.
As more arrived until the group was complete, Ning Yunshu signaled the waiters to serve.
“To everyone’s bright futures! Cheers!” the class monitor announced loudly.
“Cheers!” the group echoed, raising their glasses.
Their youthful innocence was gone all had matured into capable adults. Some absent friends even joined via video calls, adding to the merriment.
After several drinks, someone mustered the courage to ask Ye Qinglan, “Qinglan, you and Yunshu?” with a suggestive glance at Ning Yunshu.
Ye Qinglan’s cheeks warmed slightly as she feigned ignorance, “Hmm?”
“Come on, don’t play dumb! You two were inseparable in high school, we all wondered if you’d end up together,” a classmate teased.
Glancing at Ning Yunshu, Ye Qinglan replied, “We were close, but someone disappeared for seven years. We’re rebuilding that now.”
This drew roaring laughter.
“Chairwoman Ning, you haven’t made up with her yet?” someone prodded.
Ning Yunshu rubbed her nose sheepishly, “Working on it, working on it.”
Seeing the formidable businesswoman so flustered only intensified the teasing.
Ye Qinglan cleared her throat, “Why focus on us? That’s enough.”
“We’re just hoping for exclusive gossip!”
“Better give up, there isn’t any,” Ye Qinglan dashed their hopes mercilessly.
“Ah, what a shame.”
As the gathering wound down, most were tipsy, arranging rides home in small groups. When asked about their plans, Ning Yunshu smiled, “No worries, my assistant is coming. You all go ahead.”
“Then we’re off, let’s meet again soon!”
“Bye!”
After the crowd dispersed, Qin Yun arrived to drive the two home.
In the car, Ning Yunshu leaned against Ye Qinglan’s shoulder, feeling somewhat drowsy.
She had drunk quite a bit even helping Ye Qinglan fend off several rounds of toasts and now, sitting in the car, she complained of dizziness and naturally rested her head on Ye Qinglan’s shoulder.
Ye Qinglan scolded her playfully for acting shamelessly but didn’t push her away.
The partition in the back seat had been lowered as soon as Ning Yunshu got in, so Qin Yun couldn’t see what was happening behind her.
Tonight, Ning Yunshu wasn’t exactly well-behaved. As she leaned against Ye Qinglan, she occasionally nuzzled against her, and at one point, her lips brushed Ye Qinglan’s skin, sending a shiver down her spine.
“Jiejie,” Ning Yunshu called softly.
“Ning Yunshu, behave yourself.” Mindful that Qin Yun was still driving, Ye Qinglan only lowered her voice in warning.
But Ning Yunshu clearly had no intention of listening. She suddenly sat up, pressed Ye Qinglan’s shoulders, and without hesitation, kissed her lips.
Like a child sucking on jelly, she held Ye Qinglan’s lips without letting go.
The strong scent of alcohol, which had initially left Ye Qinglan sober, now made her feel slightly intoxicated. She raised a hand to push at Ning Yunshu’s shoulder, but it had no effect instead, Ning Yunshu grew bolder, gripping her wrist to keep her from moving.
“Qin Yun-jie can’t hear us,” Ning Yunshu murmured against her lips.
Ye Qinglan gasped lightly, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“That’s still not an excuse. Behave.”
Ning Yunshu looked at her pleadingly.
“But jiejie’s lips are so soft. I love kissing them.”
For a moment, Ye Qinglan couldn’t tell if her flushed cheeks were from the alcohol or Ning Yunshu’s words.
She lifted a hand to cover Ning Yunshu’s mouth.
“Ning Yunshu, no acting indecent.”
Then she felt something warm and wet glide across her palm. It took her a second to realize what it was before she yanked her hand back as if burned.
Ning Yunshu licked her own lips, looking at Ye Qinglan with an innocent expression.
Ye Qinglan’s face burned with embarrassment and annoyance. She pinched Ning Yunshu’s ear, applying just enough pressure to sting.
“Ning Yunshu! Are you asking for trouble?!”
Ning Yunshu yelped in pain, seeming to sober up instantly as tears welled in her eyes. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Jiejie, let go!”
Ye Qinglan huffed in irritation before releasing her.
“Sit properly now.”
“Okay!”
When Qin Yun parked the car in Ye Qinglan’s underground garage and stepped out to open the door, she saw Ye Qinglan exit on her own, wearing sunglasses, lips pressed tightly together, her jawline tense, the very picture of someone who wanted no disturbances.
Ning Yunshu stumbled out after her, swaying unsteadily. Qin Yun hurried around to offer support but was gently pushed aside. Instead, Ning Yunshu gazed pitifully at Ye Qinglan.
“Jiejie!”
Qin Yun had no idea what Ning Yunshu had done to anger Ye Qinglan, but given how much she had drunk, she worried about her getting hurt if she fell.
“Miss Ye, this…” Qin Yun said anxiously, torn between urgency and awkwardness.
Ye Qinglan stared sternly at Ning Yunshu, who only looked back with a helpless, pleading expression. Qin Yun glanced between them, inwardly frantic but unable to intervene.
Finally, Ye Qinglan relented. She sighed in exasperation, stepped forward, and steadied Ning Yunshu before turning to Qin Yun.
“Qin Yun-jie, thank you for tonight. Go ahead and rest, I’ll take it from here.”
Qin Yun gave an awkward chuckle and said, “Alright, then I’ll trouble Miss Ye with this.”
With that, Qin Yun demonstrated remarkable self-awareness by returning to his car and driving away.
After seeing Qin Yun leave, Ye Qinglan shot an annoyed glance at Ning Yunshu, who was leaning against her.
“We’ll settle this when we get home!”
