The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 28
Ye Qinglan slept exceptionally deeply this time.
Fortunately, her recent high-intensity training prevented her from waking up with full-body soreness.
Though her waist still ached as expected.
When she finally got up, washed up, and pushed open her bedroom door, she turned her head to see Ning Yunshu sitting on the bay window in the living room, laptop in hand, completely absorbed in her work.
At the sound of movement from the bedroom, Ning Yunshu immediately looked up, her smile radiant in the morning sunlight.
“Good morning, sister.”
“Morning.” Ye Qinglan covered a yawn with her hand.
“I’ll heat up breakfast for you.” Ning Yunshu moved to set aside her laptop.
“No need, keep working. I can handle it myself.” Ye Qinglan waved her off and headed to the kitchen.
Seeing this, Ning Yunshu refocused on the reports before her.
Ye Qinglan warmed her breakfast and ate while scrolling through her phone.
Having barely checked her messages yesterday, her inbox was now flooded. She decided to reply as she ate.
There were messages from Ke Ying:
[Ke Ying]: Tiantian said you went home to rest first. Take a couple days off, I’ll notify you about upcoming work.
[Ye Qinglan]: Got it, thanks Ke-jie.
From Wei Youning:
[Wei Youning]: Xiao Ye, are you home? Any plans for what’s next?
[Ye Qinglan]: Yes, got back yesterday. Was so tired I slept straight through. Just planning to rest for now.
From Du Wenyun:
[Du Wenyun]: Sorry about this Qinglan, Chaoyang and I kept our relationship private from everyone. Please keep our secret too.
[Ye Qinglan]: Don’t worry Teacher Du, your secret’s safe with me.
And even one from Lin Xuesong:
[Lin Xuesong]: Qinglan, how many days until you wrap filming?
[Ye Qinglan]: Already wrapped. Why mom?
Lin Xuesong replied first:
[Lin Xuesong]: How was it this time? No injuries I hope?
[Ye Qinglan]: All good, no need to worry.
[Lin Xuesong]: That’s good. Rest well at home then.
[Ye Qinglan]: OK.
Soon after, both Du Wenyun and Ke Ying responded, one with an old-fashioned smiley emoji, the other just reminding her to rest properly and not wander off.
Ye Qinglan replied to both. Since Wei Youning hadn’t responded yet, she didn’t dwell on it. After finishing breakfast, she washed the dishes and put them away before returning to the living room.
Noticing her return, Ning Yunshu closed her laptop.
“Done with work?” Ye Qinglan asked.
“Done. Just reviewing some reports.” Ning Yunshu moved from the bay window to sit beside her.
“Who were you messaging earlier, sister?” Ning Yunshu inquired.
Ye Qinglan raised an eyebrow at her. “What, checking up on me already?”
Ning Yunshu put on an ingratiating smile. “I just saw you focused on your phone and thought it might be something important.”
Ye Qinglan smirked. “Really now?”
Ning Yunshu took the opportunity to snuggle closer. “Really! I was just curious.”
Ye Qinglan teased her deliberately. “Then stay curious.”
Ning Yunshu pouted.
Changing the subject, Ye Qinglan asked, “What about you? Don’t you need to go to the office?”
Ning Yunshu shook her head. “Sister Qin Yun knows these days are my sensitive period. I usually don’t go to the company at this time.”
Ye Qinglan seemed to realize something and sat up straight, looking at Ning Yunshu with a serious gaze. “What’s going on with you? Why aren’t the suppressants working anymore?”
Ning Yunshu pursed her lips and lowered her eyes, speaking softly. “In the past, someone harmed me. I had to use suppressants in large doses, and now they hardly work anymore. Each time, I just have to tough it out.”
After hearing Ning Yunshu’s words, Ye Qinglan felt a sharp, stabbing pain in her heart.
An Alpha in their sensitive period without suppressants or an Omega’s comfort could easily lose control. The consequences were too severe for Ye Qinglan to even imagine.
If someone had taken advantage of an Alpha’s sensitive period, the malice behind it must have been immense.
Ye Qinglan’s heart ached terribly. She leaned forward and hugged Ning Yunshu on her own initiative.
“It’s okay now. It’s all in the past. I’ll help you from now on.”
Ning Yunshu smiled and nuzzled lightly against Ye Qinglan’s shoulder.
“Mm, I know. Thank you, sister.”
Ye Qinglan gently stroked Ning Yunshu’s long hair, while Ning Yunshu simply nestled in her arms and refused to move.
Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but laugh. “Ning Yunshu, you’re really pushing your luck.”
Ning Yunshu shamelessly clung to her. “I don’t care. You hugged me first.”
Ye Qinglan reached up and pinched Ning Yunshu’s delicate earlobe. “Ning Yunshu, are you a puppy? So clingy?”
“Woof.”
Ning Yunshu even playfully barked.
Ye Qinglan burst out laughing and patted Ning Yunshu’s head. “Alright, alright, get up now.”
Ning Yunshu reluctantly whined before finally letting go of Ye Qinglan.
Ye Qinglan leaned back on the sofa, picked up her phone, and glanced at Ning Yunshu. “Do you have any work this afternoon?”
“No,” Ning Yunshu shook her head lightly.
Ye Qinglan nodded, then raised an eyebrow at her. “Then carry me in the game.”
Hearing this, Ning Yunshu laughed and even put on a playful voice. “As you command, Your Majesty.”
“Go away.”
Ye Qinglan lightly kicked her calf in annoyance, and Ning Yunshu finally went to fetch her phone.
Just like that, Ye Qinglan enjoyed another round of being carried in the game. It wasn’t until Ning Yunshu checked the time and reminded her that they finally made and ate lunch before continuing to play in the afternoon.
After gaming for nearly the entire day, Ning Yunshu’s shoulders were sore, but Ye Qinglan, comfortably ranking up, was very satisfied and even gave Ning Yunshu a massage on her shoulders and neck.
Hearing Ning Yunshu’s exaggerated groans, Ye Qinglan felt a little guilty.
Next time, she definitely wouldn’t play for so long.
Since Ning Yunshu wasn’t feeling well, they decided to stop gaming and discussed watching a movie instead.
But other movies seemed boring, and after much deliberation, Ye Qinglan made the final decision to watch a recently released horror film that had received rave reviews.
Ye Qinglan was excited, while Ning Yunshu seemed hesitant.
She glanced at Ye Qinglan, wanting to say something, but seeing how enthusiastic she was, she held back.
To enhance the atmosphere, Ye Qinglan drew the curtains and turned off the lights. However, since it was too dark, she reluctantly turned on a dim, warm ambient light.
With everything set, Ye Qinglan curled up on the sofa and happily started the movie.
Meanwhile, Ning Yunshu silently inched closer to Ye Qinglan.
A moment later, a startled scream pierced through the dimly lit room.
Ning Yunshu’s face twisted slightly as she looked at Ye Qinglan, who was clutching her arm in panic with an iron grip while simultaneously staring unblinkingly at the TV screen. She was suffering in silence.
She had known this would happen.
And since when did her sister have such a strong grip? Her arm would probably be covered in bruises tomorrow.
The worst part was that Ye Qinglan became completely absorbed when watching movies, completely oblivious to Ning Yunshu’s predicament.
Poor Ning Yunshu could only endure it until, an hour and a half later, the movie ended. Ye Qinglan patted her chest, looking thoroughly shaken.
But Ye Qinglan was the type whose entire body could be trembling except for her mouth, which remained stubbornly composed.
“It wasn’t that scary,” she said, turning to look at Ning Yunshu, only to find her hugging her own arm and gazing at her with pitiful eyes.
Suddenly realizing something, Ye Qinglan quickly grabbed Ning Yunshu’s hand and pulled up her sleeve.
Sure enough, there were clear red marks all over her arm.
Ye Qinglan’s guilt instantly skyrocketed. She glanced at Ning Yunshu cautiously, her eyes filled with remorse.
Damn it. It had been so long since she’d watched a horror movie with someone that she’d forgotten her terrible habit of death-gripping the arm of whoever was beside her during scary scenes.
“Sis, it hurts.”
To make matters worse, Ning Yunshu looked so aggrieved and on the verge of tears that Ye Qinglan’s guilt reached its peak.
“You dummy, why didn’t you pull away if it hurt?” Ye Qinglan scolded, but she still turned on the light and fetched the medicated oil from the first-aid kit, preparing to massage it into Ning Yunshu’s arm.
“I didn’t want to scare you,” Ning Yunshu admitted honestly.
Back when they were kids, she had tried pulling her hand away once, but the result was Ye Qinglan getting so frightened she thought a real ghost had appeared.
From then on, Ning Yunshu never dared to move recklessly again.
However, when she saw the medicated oil, Ning Yunshu’s face showed rare resistance.
“Sis, we don’t have to use this. I’m tough, it’ll heal by tomorrow.”
If there was one thing Ning Yunshu hated most, it was the smell of medicated oil. To her, its pungent odor was even more unbearable than having a handful of Sichuan peppercorns shoved under her nose.
Ye Qinglan sighed. “Ning Yunshu, do you want this arm to be useless for the next few days?”
Ning Yunshu pouted. “But I really can’t stand the smell.”
Ye Qinglan exhaled softly. After all, she was the one to blame for this mess. If she hadn’t suddenly gotten the idea to watch a horror movie, Ning Yunshu wouldn’t be suffering like this.
But leaving it untreated wasn’t an option. Given the strength she’d built up over the past two months of training, Ning Yunshu’s arm wouldn’t recover properly for at least a week or two without treatment.
Seeing this, Ye Qinglan had no choice but to coax her gently. “Be good and let me apply the medicine. It’ll help you heal faster, okay?”
Ning Yunshu remained resistant.
Out of options, Ye Qinglan finally stepped forward, cupped Ning Yunshu’s face, and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Xiao Shu, be good and let me treat your arm, okay?”
Ning Yunshu froze.
It had been so long since she’d heard Ye Qinglan call her “Xiao Shu” so affectionately.
When they were little, whenever she got bruised and hurt but refused treatment while crying in pain, Ye Qinglan would coax her like this to get her to accept the medicine.
What was that pungent smell she disliked so much? It was just applying medicine, wasn’t it? Her sister had even started calling her “Xiao Shu” affectionately!
Ning Yunshu gritted her teeth, stretched out her hand, and closed her eyes, looking every bit the picture of a martyr ready to sacrifice herself.
“G-go ahead then.”
Though her stuttering tone betrayed some unknown hesitation.
Ye Qingran let out a soft chuckle at the sight.
“Such a good girl, Xiao Shu.”
