The Movie Queen's Beloved Crybaby Alpha - Chapter 11
The training camp was set up in a suburban training ground arranged by Director Xu in advance. Although it wasn’t as professional as what the criminal police team had, it was more than sufficient for filming purposes.
When Ye Qinglan arrived, a few people were already there. She recognized Jiang Ying, the screenwriter, as well as two other well-known actors, Zhang Zishu and Wei Youning.
Compared to these three, Ye Qinglan, a newcomer, was obviously much lower in status.
She took the initiative to greet them, saying, “Good morning, Teacher Jiang, Teacher Zhang, Teacher Wei.”
Seeing her, Jiang Ying smiled and said, “Good morning, Teacher Ye.”
Zhang Zishu waved and said, “Ah, Teacher Ye is here.”
Wei Youning stepped forward with a grin. “Great, Teacher Ye is here too! I’ve watched your movie over and over your acting is truly amazing.”
Ye Qinglan quickly waved her hands in modesty. “You flatter me, Teacher Wei.”
Wei Youning chuckled and extended a hand toward her. “In any case, Teacher Ye, I’ll be counting on your guidance from now on.”
“Not at all, I should be the one learning from you,” Ye Qinglan replied hastily.
Jiang Ying, still smiling, interjected, “It’s still early. Once everyone arrives, you can go put your luggage away first. The instructors are still preparing, so by the time you’re done, things should be ready.”
“Got it,” they all responded in unison.
Just then, two more cars pulled up at the entrance, and a man and a woman stepped out. Spotting the group, they walked over.
“Good morning, Teacher Fang, Teacher Xu!” The sociable Wei Youning immediately greeted them.
Fang Wenle was the only male in the group, but he was also an Omega, shy and reserved. Flustered by Wei Youning’s enthusiasm, he replied softly, “Good morning, Teacher Wei.”
Then, glancing at the rest, he quickly added, “Good morning, everyone.”
The woman behind him, however, exuded confidence. With a bold and spirited demeanor, she greeted the group, “Good morning, everyone. I hope I’m not late.”
This was Xu Chaoyang, the only Alpha among them.
In this era, Alphas and Omegas were still a minority. Over half the global population consisted of ordinary Betas. Though Omegas weren’t as physically capable as Alphas, their career opportunities weren’t restricted because of it. In fact, society treated them equally in this regard.
Otherwise, someone like Ye Qinglan, an Omega would never have landed the lead role in an action movie.
Jiang Ying checked her watch. “No rush, it’s still early. We’re just waiting for one more person.”
“That’s good,” Xu Zhaoyang said with a smile. The group chatted casually, quickly warming up to one another.
But no matter how long they waited, the last actor never showed up.
Jiang Ying’s displeasure was evident as she checked the time again. “Let’s not wait any longer. Teacher Xu, you’ll share a room with Teacher Zhang. Teacher Wei, you’ll be with Teacher Ye. Teacher Fang will have a room to himself. Here are the keys. The dorms have water, electricity, and a laundry room. Meals are served in the cafeteria. I’ll stay and wait a little longer.”
Not wanting to provoke Jiang Ying’s irritation, the group took their keys and headed toward the dormitory.
Upon reaching the dormitory building and finding their rooms, the group first went to drop off their luggage.
Wei Youning was very enthusiastic. Being three years older than Ye Qinglan, she took extra care of her and wanted to help her make the bed. Ye Qinglan quickly waved her hands in refusal.
Hearing this, Wei Youning pulled out a pile of snacks from her bag and stuffed them into Ye Qinglan’s hands. Seeing Ye Qinglan still hesitant, she said, “Alright, alright, everyone got some. Just take it, no need to refuse.”
Ye Qinglan smiled sheepishly. “Thank you, Teacher Wei.”
“No need to be so polite. We’ll be roommates for a month, Captain Song,” Wei Youning said with a wink.
Hearing herself addressed by her character’s name, Ye Qinglan burst into laughter. “Got it, Comrade Xiao Yan.”
After settling in, the two went out together and happened to run into the other three. Laughing and chatting, they headed to the field to meet Jiang Ying.
However, before they could get close, they heard Jiang Ying standing with a young policewoman, angrily berating someone over the phone. “If you can do it, do it. If not, forget it. What’s with this half-hearted attitude? Plenty of people want this role,we don’t need her.”
Exchanging glances, the group stopped at a distance, not daring to interrupt.
The person on the other end must have said something else, as Jiang Ying sneered coldly. “Sorry, but I don’t need unprofessional actors. I’ll contact Director Xu to replace you.”
With that, she hung up without giving the other person a chance to respond.
Witnessing Jiang Ying’s outburst, the group felt their hearts pound.
Jiang Ying’s strictness was well-known in the industry, but seeing it firsthand still left them uneasy.
They all silently thanked their lucky stars they’d left early and hadn’t been late to upset her.
Standing there awkwardly, they soon caught Jiang Ying’s attention. She reined in her anger and beckoned them over.
Only then did they dare approach, though none dared ask what had happened.
Clearly, Jiang Ying had no intention of explaining. Instead, she gestured to the policewoman beside her. “This is Officer Li, a firearms instructor from the SWAT team. Starting today, she and her team will be responsible for your training for the next month. Don’t treat this as just a simple workshop or some casual boot camp. Officer Li will train you like professionals. It’ll be tough, but for the sake of the film’s success, I hope you’ll grit your teeth and push through.”
She paused before adding, “Of course, if you can’t handle it, you’re free to quit anytime.”
Her words made it clear, this was a warning.
But this was a project helmed by Director Xu and Jiang Ying. Their collaborations were practically guaranteed award contenders. In this industry, awards and connections mattered, but the chance to work with them was another level entirely.
No one would be foolish enough to quit now. No matter how grueling it got, filmmaking was never easy. If they couldn’t handle hardship.
Well, there weren’t many jobs in this world that didn’t demand sacrifice.
Fully aware of this, the group answered in unison, “We can handle it!”
Only then did Jiang Ying smile in satisfaction. Nodding to Officer Li, she stepped aside and let the training begin.
Seeing the situation, Instructor Li watched as everyone stood at attention and saluted before speaking: “Good day, cadets. I am your instructor, surnamed Li. You may call me Instructor Li from now on. Today, I’ll be taking you through the daily tasks of our criminal investigation unit and explaining what training programs we’ll be conducting. Rest assured, we’ll tailor the instruction based on your roles in the production to help everyone portray qualified detectives on screen.”
“Yes, welcome Instructor Li,” the group responded in unison.
Instructor Li smiled, then turned to Jiang Ying and said, “Well then, Screenwriter Jiang, I’ll take them now.”
“Understood. Thank you for your hard work, Instructor Li,” Jiang Ying replied.
With Ye Qinglan away from home, Ning Yunshu found herself restless staying alone.
When Ye Qinglan was around, even if they didn’t interact much, just sharing the same roof gave Ning Yunshu a sense of security, as if nothing could unsettle her as long as Ye Qinglan was present.
But now with Ye Qinglan gone, she felt as if ants were crawling all over her body.
How she missed Ye Qinglan!
She decided to go to the company, hoping work would numb this restless feeling and keep her from disturbing Ye Qinglan.
Qin Yun, who was supposed to be resting, was dragged back to work, her expression clearly unamused.
“Didn’t you say we should rest when we can? Why are you back at work again?”
Ning Yunshu felt slightly guilty but couldn’t bring herself to admit it was because Ye Qinglan wasn’t home. Instead, she said, “We’re in the middle of transferring the company. There’s too much work to dump everything on Ji An, she’d be overwhelmed.”
Qin Yun’s lips twitched as she stared silently at her boss.
Clearly, she didn’t buy this excuse. She knew exactly what was going through Ning Yunshu’s mind.
Under her scrutinizing gaze, Ning Yunshu coughed lightly and added, “Triple overtime pay.”
“What needs to be done?” Qin Yun immediately dropped her objections.
Triple pay for half a day’s work? At her salary level, she’d happily work overtime every day!
Ning Yunshu found this amusing but didn’t tease her, simply assigning tasks before they both buried themselves in work.
By evening, as neon lights flickered outside the window, Ning Yunshu rubbed her temples wearily.
Qin Yun knocked and entered, asking, “Gracia, do you need me to drive you home?”
Ning Yunshu waved her off. “No need, you go ahead.”
Nodding, Qin Yun replied, “Then I’ll head out first.”
“Alright.”
“See you.”
After Qin Yun left, Ning Yunshu sank into her executive chair, hesitating with her phone for a long moment before finally opening Ye Qinglan’s chat window and sending a sticker.

[Ning Yunshu]: Are you done with work, sis?
But after waiting without reply, Ning Yunshu sighed, consoling herself that Ye Qinglan must still be busy. She eventually got up, locked the office, and prepared to head home.
Meanwhile, Ye Qinglan only saw the messages much later. After having dinner at the cafeteria with the police instructors, everyone had returned to their dorms.
While Wei Youning went to shower, she finally retrieved her long-neglected phone. The screen lit up to reveal Ning Yunshu’s two unread messages.
Just looking at that emoji, Ye Qinglan could easily picture Ning Yunshu’s pitiful expression on the other side of the screen, anxiously waiting for her reply.
Unconsciously, the corners of her lips curved upward as she typed a few words.
[Ye Qinglan]: Just got back to the dorm after finishing work.
The other side immediately showed “typing,” and soon a long string of messages came through.
[Ning Yunshu]: You must be exhausted, sis. How was training? Was it too tiring? If so, try soaking your feet every day, it helps a lot. Have you eaten dinner yet? You didn’t just grab something quick, did you?
Seeing this flood of messages, Ye Qinglan couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.
Had Ning Yunshu been holding back all these words all day? Where was she even supposed to start replying?
