The Master Always Thinks I Have Improper Intentions Toward Her - Chapter 2
This storybook didn’t actually belong to Shen Qingchen herself.
It had been thrust upon her by Nangong Jiang once when she went to Qianyu Peak on business. This person was her senior sister and had a long history of forcing strange things onto her, this time was likely no exception.
The woman’s exact words had been: “Just take a look. It’s very interesting, perfect for fixing that cold, detached air of yours.”
Nangong Jiang had been unconventional for a long time, and nine times out of ten, the books she gave weren’t “proper” books. Thus, Shen Qingchen had no intention of reading it and left it languishing on her table.
Later, during a rare moment of idleness, she finally flipped it open.
The moment she opened it, she was shocked beyond words.
She had originally thought that, at most, this was a common novella circulating in the markets. Despite the strange title, she assumed it would be a typical story of a scholar and a beauty. Such tales have never been scarce since ancient times, though she hadn’t read many, she had heard of them.
But this book was different.
The opening page contained scenes that were utterly scandalous.
“She suddenly pulled her Master into her arms, their tongues intertwining fiercely. Before long, the entire room was filled with the suggestive sound of moisture.”
As soon as these lewd and wanton words flashed before her eyes, she immediately recoiled. Her heart hammered against her ribs, and her face flushed uncontrollably.
No, she couldn’t accept this.
This was far too excessive.
As if holding a hot potato, she tossed the book onto the floor. But seeing it on the floor felt too eyesore, so she had to shove it under the bed. Yet, knowing it was under the bed made it difficult for her to sleep, she felt truly miserable and restless.
After tossing and turning for half the night, she finally came up with a solution, she gave it a new book cover. Afraid she might mix it up with other proper classics, she felt she had to write a title on it but writing a title made it look like it was her own grand work.
Out of options, she finally tucked it away beneath a curio shelf.
It was hidden well enough there, with no risk of exposure.
Yet, who would have thought that today it would nearly be seen by an outsider?
She sighed, thinking: Is this Heaven’s will?
If that were the case… she slowly peeled back the title page. Enduring the discomfort in her heart, she forced herself to read on.
It was indeed very provocative at the start, but after enduring the opening chapters, it gradually entered a better state. The later parts weren’t filled with as much erotic description, instead, it began with a young girl’s “transmigration,” unfolding a poignant and fantastical love story.
The two female leads, one from reality, one from the story, were originally individuals of vastly different personalities and statuses. Yet, they were pushed together by fate. On the surface, they were Master and Disciple, but after one adventure after another, they slowly became each other’s pillar of support. Love arose from unknown origins, yet ran deep and true.
Under the flickering candlelight, Shen Qingchen’s stunning profile was set in a look of utmost seriousness. Her long eyelashes fluttered occasionally, and even the cries of night cats outside could not pull her back to reality.
It was only when the sky began to brighten that she closed the book and let out a long breath.
This book was completely different from what she had imagined. It was by no means a boring novella filled with lewd language, the two protagonists were well-developed, and the emotions were delicate. Especially the “push and pull” of the sour-sweet ambiguity before their feelings were openly confessed, it was truly captivating.
After finishing it in one breath, she actually felt a sense of loss. She couldn’t help but wonder: Does that world truly exist? Do those two protagonists truly exist?
She truly hoped that somewhere, their story was still continuing.
She sat by the bed reminiscing for a long time until the chirping of birds woke her. Only then did she realize with a start that the sun was already high. She had read for an entire night, not even knowing when the candle had burned out.
She had spent half of yesterday repairing the mountain protecting array and should have rested well to gather her energy. Instead, she had forgotten the time because of a book and delayed her duties until now.
So, this is what they meant by “frivolous play saps the will.”
She set the book aside and lay on the bed, closing her eyes to meditate and rest. But the moment she closed her eyes, she thought of the plots in the book, the Master’s protective heart for the disciple, the disciple’s possessiveness toward the Master. Those scenes made her heart swell, making sleep impossible.
Unable to calm her mind, she decided to head to the mountain-protecting array to see if there were any omissions left from yesterday. To her surprise, when she arrived, she saw someone standing by the cliff.
It was the disciple from yesterday, seemingly named Jiang Qianxun.
The girl was only seventeen or eighteen, with a tall, upright posture and a clear, handsome face. She was full of youthful vigor, and her expression held a half-smile, looking as if she didn’t care about anything, yet also as if she were burdened by deep melancholy. It was impossible to tell what she was thinking.
In a daze, Shen Qingchen felt as if she were looking at a character from the book. The disciple in that story was also a spirited young woman who had developed an “outer heat, inner cold” personality due to a tragic past. On the surface, she respected her Master immensely, but in her dreams, in her heart, and in the dark corners, she harbored unspeakable, improper thoughts about her Master.
What is Jiang Qianxun… thinking about?
Shen Qingchen stood to the side, not disturbing her for a moment.
It wasn’t until Jiang Qianxun sensed a gaze and turned her head that she saw Shen Qingchen’s figure and called out softly: “…Master?”
“I didn’t know when you arrived. Please forgive my rudeness for not noticing sooner.”
Shen Qingchen told her there was no need for formalities and simply asked: “What are you doing here?”
Was she kicked out by the Elder again?
As expected, Jiang Qianxun looked ashamed and said: “I talked back to the Elder and was kicked out.”
“Over what matter?” Shen Qingchen was somewhat curious, the girl didn’t look like someone who lacked manners.
“It was nothing much…” Jiang Qianxun couldn’t explain in detail, so she made up a random lie. “Is Master here to inspect the mountain protecting formation?”
“Yes.” As she spoke, Shen Qingchen glanced down. The gap had been repaired, and nothing was gushing out anymore. However, she still felt uneasy and planned to walk along the formation to see if there were any other weak spots. “I shall go then.”
Seeing her about to leave, Jiang Qianxun suddenly spoke up: “Master, regarding the matter of guidance I mentioned yesterday, I wonder if you still remember?”
Shen Qingchen nodded slightly.
After receiving a positive answer yesterday, Jiang Qianxun had been so carried away that she forgot the questions she meant to ask. She had wanted to go back and ask but feared the Master had already retired for the night, so she had spent a restless night.
Now that fate had brought them together again, she seized the opportunity to describe her predicament: her cultivation speed had slowed down. “I have thought of many ways, but I still cannot improve it. I wonder if Master could point the way for me?”
Shen Qingchen thought for a moment and said: “Just looking at you tells me nothing. If you want an answer, we must rely on practical combat. Are you willing to take a trip down with me?”
Jiang Qianxun, of course, couldn’t ask for more.
Immediately, the two stepped onto a sword and flew toward the depths of the abyss. Before this, Jiang Qianxun didn’t know what sword riding felt like. Once they took flight, she discovered she wasn’t very well-suited for it.
She originally had a constitution prone to motion sickness. The speed of sword riding was more than ten times faster than a car, and there were frequent moments of weightlessness. It made her dizziness even worse; within moments, her throat began to itch.
No, I can’t throw up.
She told herself in her heart that she absolutely could not lose face so badly in front of someone. But she couldn’t tell her Master to stop either. This wasn’t like a car where you could pull over to the side of the road; there wasn’t even a place to set foot in mid-air.
Disregarding everything else, she reached out and grabbed onto something at random to stabilize herself and suppress the urge to vomit.
In her dazed state, she didn’t even realize that she was holding onto her Master’s waist. This spot was perfectly level with her arm, and it was soft and slender, serving as a perfect anchor to steady herself. It felt very natural.
But for Shen Qingchen, it was different.
She was experienced in sword riding and had long since considered it a mundane task. She felt no discomfort whatsoever and didn’t even know that people could get “sword sick.” When her waist was grabbed by the other girl, she couldn’t even believe it was real, how could Jiang Qianxun be, and how did she dare be, so bold?
The disciple in that book was bold, yes, but only after much planning and confirming that her Master was already in love with her did she dare to indulge in intimacy. But she and Jiang Qianxun were practically strangers, why was the girl so reckless?
Confusion, shame, anger, and shock, countless emotions flashed through her mind. She even had the urge to question her sternly. But the first rule of Sword Riding Law was. During flight, one must not argue or fight with others.
This was a strict prohibition that could not be violated.
So, she endured and remained silent for the time being.
After landing, her first priority was to hold Jiang Qianxun accountable. But before she could speak, she saw the girl’s face was deathly pale. As soon as they were down, Jiang Qianxun found a corner and began to retch.
Was it because of physical discomfort?
Shen Qingchen began to understand. It turned out the girl did that because she was unwell. It must have been hard for her to endure for so long despite being so sick.
Did she not say anything because she was afraid of affecting my flight?
Putting herself in the other girl’s shoes, she suddenly felt the girl’s heart was pure. On the contrary, she herself just because her waist was touched, why the great fuss?
She convinced herself in her mind. Seeing that Jiang Qianxun was mostly done vomiting, she stepped forward and handed her a handkerchief.
Jiang Qianxun didn’t dare take it. This was something the Master kept close to her person; if she used it to wipe her mouth, wouldn’t that be a waste of a heavenly treasure?
She hurriedly said: “It’s fine, it’s fine, I brought some tissues.”
Originally, this was a very simple sentence without any deep meaning. But as luck would have it, there was a small detail in that storybook mentioning that the protagonist wasn’t used to ancient handkerchiefs and carried some paper on her person to wipe away filth.
The name for that paper was “tissues.”
Could it be… that Jiang Qianxun had transmigrated from another world?
