The Male Leads Who Are Becoming Stranger and Stranger [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
After She Yi departed, Bai Mu turned back into the manor, and a figure materialized out of thin air behind him.
“Are you really going to help that Jian Yan? Your greatest rival?”
The voice was laced with thick irony.
Bai Mu’s footsteps paused slightly, then he resumed his stride. The corners of his lips quirked upward, noble and elegant, outlining the refined cultivation of a scion from a prestigious family.
“That is Xiao Yi’s request; how could I not help? It’s a perfect opportunity to use this to make the Li and Zhang families disappear. The forces in S City are due for a proper integration.”
The figure let out a scoff.
“Truly a cunning fox!”
“Thank you for the compliment.”
The figure quietly dissipated as if it had never appeared.
With his back to the spot where the figure had been, Bai Mu continued walking. No one knew that a magnificent shadow had flashed through his mind, and the color of his eyes gradually deepened.
The territory, he wanted it. The beauty…
He wanted them too.
…
Today was Jian Yan’s birthday. Taking advantage of the moment Jian Yan left the house, She Yi quietly climbed out of bed.
“Xiao Xia, is everything ready?”
Being stared at intently by him, the little maid’s face turned beet red as she stammered an answer: “Re-ready, Second Young Master!”
She Yi revealed a smile.
“Very good. Go gather everyone in the villa and have them assemble in the living room.”
Under the seduction of such beauty, the little maid only remembered nodding dizzily before drifting away. By the time she snapped out of it, she had already completed the task—calling all the servants to the living room.
She blinked, wondering what the Second Young Master was going to do next.
Recalling the things the Second Young Master had asked her to send people to prepare balloons, ribbons… surely it wasn’t what she thought?
In fact, it was exactly what she thought. She Yi wanted to decorate a birthday party scene; he wanted to give Xiao Yan a surprise.
After directing everyone to start working, She Yi dove into the kitchen, holding a book in his hand with several large words clearly written on the cover: How to Make a Birthday Cake.
The maid, Xiao Xia, found herself drawn to the kitchen by some mysterious force. Leaning against the door, she gazed at the busy figure inside, her eyes flashing with infatuation. Suddenly, she felt very envious of the Eldest Young Master.
On the other side, having left the villa, Jian Yan walked toward the base. He had ordered the villa’s security to be tightened; the news Tang Yu brought back that day was like a warning, silently reminding him.
Things that had happened in the past even if he had returned to the past, even if he worked hard to forget and strive for change had still left an indelible mark on his heart.
Stepping into the base, Jian Yan saw Tang Yu, who seemed to have been waiting there early for a long time. Seeing his expression, Jian Yan keenly sensed something unusual.
“What’s wrong?”
Tang Yu followed behind him, his expression calm: “Bai Mu is here.”
His footsteps halted imperceptibly for a moment. Jian Yan’s face turned eerie: “What is he doing here?”
Tang Yu remained silent; he knew Jian Yan wasn’t looking for an answer from him.
“Where is he?”
“The front hall.”
As soon as he entered, Jian Yan noticed the figure standing with its back to the door, which was all too familiar. Seemingly hearing the movement behind him, the figure turned around, revealing a handsome face that was gentle and smiling.
Bai Mu.
A trace of gloom flashed in the depths of his eyes. Jian Yan strode over, extending his right hand. His face took on a false mask as he smiled:
“Young Master Bai’s presence brings light to my humble abode. Forgive me for not welcoming you sooner.”
The two hands touched and immediately parted. At Jian Yan’s invitation, both sat on the nearby sofas. Tang Yu stood dutifully behind Jian Yan, looking every bit the bodyguard.
Bai Mu had clearly brought people with him as well, but only one remained by his side, standing in the same position behind him, faintly forming a standoff against Jian Yan’s side.
Jian Yan crossed his legs, adopting a casual posture, and said with a smile:
“Young Master Bai’s visit… to what do I owe the honor?”
“Does Chief Jian truly not know?”
Bai Mu smiled slightly, appearing as though everything was within his grasp.
“Forgive my lack of understanding. Please clarify.”
It was impossible to tell if he truly didn’t know or was just feigning ignorance, but to Bai Mu, it didn’t matter; as long as the goal was achieved.
“The Bai family cooperates with the Redeemer Base to sweep away the other forces that have no need to exist. What do you think of this suggestion?”
Jian Yan stared fixedly at the young man opposite him, taking in his elegant, smiling expression. Then he lowered his eyes, seemingly contemplating the feasibility of the suggestion.
After a long while, he looked up and smiled:
“Very good.”
After Bai Mu left, a graceful figure walked out from the inner room. She came behind Jian Yan, her snow-white hands, soft as if they had no bones, encircling his neck. Tang Yu tactfully withdrew.
Jian Yan grabbed the hands that were acting wantonly on his chest and tilted his head slightly toward the woman behind him.
“Sun Haiman.”
…
In the evening, having finished the day’s affairs, Jian Yan returned to the villa. Thinking of the person he was about to see, a trace of warmth involuntarily swept across his hard, cold heart. Then, as if remembering something, his dark eyes flickered noticeably.
The confession from that day had, predictably, not been accepted, but it hadn’t been rejected either. Thinking of his bashful, evasive expression and the flushed earlobes he couldn’t hide, Jian Yan couldn’t help but smile, a dense possessiveness swirling in his eyes.
At least, you don’t dislike me, right?
Bang!
Colored confetti exploding in the air scattered over Jian Yan’s head, shoulders, and his entire body. He froze for a moment, then turned to see the brilliantly smiling, handsome young man.
He stepped forward and gently embraced the momentarily stunned Jian Yan.
“Welcome back, Xiao Yan.”
Warm breath puffed against his neck, sending a small patch of goosebumps rising, while also making Jian Yan snap back to his senses completely. His gaze swept over the decorations in the room, and he understood immediately, though he pretended to be clueless on the surface.
She Yi pulled him further into the house, pushed him down onto the sofa, and blinked.
“Were you surprised?”
Jian Yan looked around: “This is…”
“It’s your birthday, you idiot!”
Seeing that he still looked confused, She Yi felt a bit exasperated, then muttered: “I clearly reminded you before…”
Jian Yan suddenly hooked an arm around his shoulder and, despite his cry of surprise, pressed him down onto the sofa. His body loomed over, tightly suppressing his struggling movements, his eyes full of smiles.
“I like it very much.”
I like everything you’ve done for me very much.
She Yi’s face turned a choked red as he gritted his teeth: “Get up!”
“I don’t want to.”
Burying his head in She Yi’s shoulder, he took a deep breath. His chest was filled with his scent, and he felt something begin to stir. What should he do? He seemed unable to wait much longer…
The strength of She Yi’s struggle stiffened instantly. No longer ignorant of such matters, he naturally understood what the hard object pressed against his inner thigh was. Thinking back to the confession that day, he suddenly felt both awkward and bashful.
“You… you get up first…”
Jian Yan, who was seriously admiring his expression, narrowed his eyes upon hearing this. Instead of getting up, he deliberately pushed forward a bit, a wicked smile on his face.
She Yi’s face looked like a cooked shrimp; it felt as though his head had exploded, and he wished he could push the person off him immediately and bolt far away!
“You… you-you-you quickly get up, the cake in the kitchen is… is going to burn…”
Can’t push too hard all at once… Jian Yan lowered his head and kissed the corner of his reddened eye, then stood up with a light laugh. Watching the figure that flew into the kitchen the second it was freed from his restraint, his heart overflowed with a deep sense of satisfaction.
Then he looked down at the bulge at his crotch, and the playfulness on his face turned into a bitter smile.
At this moment, She Yi, who had run into the kitchen as if escaping, showed none of the bashfulness from a moment ago. His face was as calm as a pool of still water. He skillfully turned off the appliances, picked up a towel, opened the electric oven, took the cake out, and placed it on the table.
Xiao Long gradually materialized next to the cake.
[Important Side Quest: Complete two main quests. Time limit: three months.]
She Yi’s finger, hanging at his side, twitched slightly.
Three months?
In the past, there had never been a time limit attached to a side quest.
However, thinking about how he had never had to “conquer” key plot characters before, She Yi felt at ease with it.
Three months… that’s enough.
Xiao Long crawled to She Yi’s finger and nuzzled it affectionately, as if silently offering comfort.
The pad of his finger gently rubbed Xiao Long’s head. She Yi let it crawl onto his finger and placed it into his chest pocket, a trace of softness appearing in his eyes.
A few minutes later, She Yi placed the finished cake on the dining table outside, set out the utensils, and after finishing all the preparations, thought for a moment and walked into the bathroom.
And where was Jian Yan at this time?
The second-floor bathroom, putting out the fire.
When a refreshed Jian Yan walked down from the second floor, he saw the person sitting quietly on the sofa. He seemed to have just bathed as well; his originally tied-up jet-black long hair was let down, shimmering with a hint of moisture. The shirt at his chest had two buttons undone, faintly revealing delicate collarbones and a snow-white chest.
Jian Yan’s eyes darkened.
“Xiao Yan, come down quickly.”
Seemingly hearing the footsteps coming downstairs, She Yi looked up, revealing a handsome, fair face. Strands of black hair were scattered across the side of his face, possessing a beauty that blurred gender lines, making one’s heart throb involuntarily.
His throat rolled. Looking at She Yi’s still completely unconscious appearance, Jian Yan truly didn’t know what to say.
“In the future, you are only allowed to be like this toward me, do you understand?”
She Yi was puzzled: “?”
“You can only love me.”
She Yi understood this sentence. The redness that had faded from his face reappeared, and he hurriedly pushed the man toward the cake as if to change the subject. Two candles were lit on top.
“Make a wish quickly, and blow out the candles.”
Jian Yan obediently went to the dining table, glancing sideways at She Yi’s flushed cheeks, feeling his hands get a bit itchy.
Seeing him remain motionless, She Yi urged: “Make a wish quickly.”
“Cough.”
Finally managing to avert his gaze, Jian Yan gave a fake cough: “Did you forget something, Xiao Yi?”
“?”
“You really don’t remember?”
“What?”
“The birthday song. Don’t you sing a birthday song at a birthday party?”
“…”
“Xiao Yan, what wish did you make?”
“About that…”
“What did you wish for?” Curiously.
“Not telling. If I say it, it won’t come true.”
“Hmph, don’t tell then.”
Jian Yan licked the cream from the corner of his lips. The cloying sweetness spread through his mouth. Even though it was a flavor he didn’t particularly like, at this moment, it felt as if it had sweetened his very heart.
His eyes reflected that vivid face, wearing a brilliant smile, lively and beautiful.
In this moment, Jian Yan wished this scene could be preserved as an eternity.
