The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 51.2
Shen Tingxue nodded, striving to maintain the current atmosphere.
Walking over to the dining table, she found it laden with an array of exquisite dishes that resembled works of art. Even Shen Tingxue was momentarily stunned to see such fare in R District.
At the center was a dish of lobster sashimi, each piece meticulously shelled to reveal translucent flesh, neatly arranged on crushed ice with specially prepared wasabi and soy sauce.
In Shen Tingxue’s memory, imperial lobster was extremely rare and precious.
Glancing at the other dishes, besides the main courses, there were also light options like bird’s nest millet porridge in golden broth and stir-fried rare mushrooms.
Teng Ying and Ning Yuyou were already seated at the table, apparently waiting for her.
This was the first time the group had eaten together. Everyone felt somewhat restrained, yet not entirely unfamiliar with each other.
“Please sit.”
As the host, Teng Ying said to Shen Tingxue, “Chef Tong specially prepared several dishes for you, saying they’re good for pregnant women.”
She pointed to the bowl of golden soup stewed with old hen. “Here.”
Shen Tingxue paused momentarily. “Thank you.”
Shen Tingxue had spent a few days alone with Teng Ying before. At that time, Teng Ying had been quite impatient and later took the necklace.
But these past few days, Teng Ying had genuinely cared for her. Human nature was indeed contradictory.
The meal was exceptionally delicious. Teng Ying hadn’t tried many of these dishes before, and regardless of the undercurrents at the table, she immediately began sampling them.
Ning Yuyou felt somewhat awkward internally, but being professional, she maintained perfect composure in uncomfortable situations. Even when her gaze met Shen Tingxue’s, she remained expressionless.
She even offered a slight smile.
Shen Tingxue averted her eyes, offering no response.
Ning Yuyou shrugged and casually struck up a conversation with Teng Ying, “So? Tasty, right?”
“Not bad.”
Teng Ying ate heartily, “This is probably the best thing you’ve done since coming here.”
Ning Yuyou smiled, “By the way, isn’t A-Shan joining us? He was just here a moment ago.”
Teng Ying had hired A-Shan as an instructor for the new recruits, paying him to train the rookies.
The weather had been poor the past few days, so they had postponed, but now that it had cleared up, A-Shan had come by that afternoon.
Shen Tingxue’s heart stirred at the mention of that name.
She remembered Shi Anzhi once telling her that A-Shan was a retired boxer who had taught her how to fight.
So Ning Yuyou was already this familiar with them. A faint pang of jealousy rose in Shen Tingxue’s heart.
Shi Anzhi chimed in, “He took on a last-minute job and left early.”
“Oh!” Ning Yuyou nodded.
For some inexplicable reason, Shen Tingxue felt a twinge of envy.
She set down her chopsticks and couldn’t resist asking, “What about Xiao Qu? How has she been lately?”
She still remembered the daughter of the auto repair shop owner, a very sweet girl.
Teng Ying proactively replied to Shen Tingxue, “She’s been sent to a technical school in the special zone for short-term training. I’m covering the tuition. That girl has talent, we can’t let it go to waste.”
Shen Tingxue glanced at Shi Anzhi, then at Teng Ying. She wanted Shi Anzhi to respond to her.
She hummed in acknowledgment, paused for a moment, and said, “Which school is it? I could help make her life a bit more comfortable.”
Teng Ying told her the name, and Shen Tingxue quietly memorized it.
Beside them, Ning Yuyou’s eating pace slowed. When had anyone ever seen the proud Miss Shen so carefully trying to make conversation before.
Coming to District R was definitely more fun than staying at headquarters.
Halfway through the meal, BoBo finally returned from his outdoor adventures, his yellow figure darting out from under the table.
Freshly home, he caught the scent of meat and excitedly circled the dining table twice.
Suddenly, when he caught Shen Tingxue’s scent, he paused noticeably, tilting his head as if trying to recognize something.
A few seconds later, BoBo tentatively wagged his tail, walked over to Shen Tingxue’s feet, and gently rubbed his furry head against her pant leg.
Shen Tingxue’s heart softened.
She lowered her head and met BoBo’s round, puppy-dog eyes.
Back in District R, BoBo had gotten along well with her.
Even though District R was chaotic, he loved running around everywhere, leaving random trinkets he’d picked up who-knows-where under their beds, occasionally lying quietly at their feet.
Shen Tingxue reached out, wanting to pet BoBo’s head, but hesitated.
Shi Anzhi observed all of this.
She picked up a piece of beef, crispy on the outside and tender inside, and placed it on the empty plate in front of Shen Tingxue.
Shi Anzhi said, “He likes this.”
Shen Tingxue looked up, a glimmer of light in her eyes.
She crouched down and offered the meat to BoBo’s mouth.
BoBo immediately wagged his tail joyfully, swallowed the meat in one gulp, then affectionately licked her fingers.
Shen Tingxue’s eyes grew warm. BoBo still remembered her and still enjoyed being close to her.
What about BoBo’s owner?
Could she try to make Shi Anzhi like her too?
Shi Anzhi watched the scene unfold. Shen Tingxue was dressed plainly today, her long hair cascading down. Crouching, her slender frame was even more apparent.
Shen Tingxue stroked BoBo’s head, “BoBo, ah.”
BoBo barked a few times, placing his front paws on Shen Tingxue’s knees, signaling that he wanted more.
Shen Tingxue chuckled, her eyes crinkling into a smile.
For a moment, the atmosphere was peaceful, and Shi Anzhi felt a slight stir in her heart.
Shen Tingxue picked up a few more pieces of meat with her chopsticks and fed them to Bobo one by one. Suddenly, Bobo pounced onto her stomach. Instinctively, she blocked with her hand, a swift, forceful motion that pushed Bobo away.
In an instant, Bobo nearly stumbled but quickly straightened up, sniffing intently at something.
Then, as if feeling guilty, Bobo took a few steps back and cautiously slipped over to Shi Anzhi, avoiding Shen Tingxue.
Shen Tingxue froze, unsure of what to do, and lowered the hand that had been shielding her stomach.
Teng Ying and Ning Yuyou, both sharp observers, exchanged a glance. Teng Ying watched with amusement, while Ning Yuyou frowned slightly.
Shi Anzhi also caught the gesture. She hugged Bobo and looked at Shen Tingxue, waiting for an explanation.
That instinctive protective gesture over her stomach didn’t seem like something one could fake. Shi Anzhi’s heartbeat quickened.
Several pairs of eyes were fixed on Shen Tingxue.
Shen Tingxue parted her lips slightly and met Shi Anzhi’s gaze. “I’m sorry!”
“I didn’t mean to push him.”
Shi Anzhi was taken aback. Shen Tingxue, apologizing so profusely, was truly unlike her usual self.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, why apologize?
Feeling a bit stifled, Shi Anzhi said, “Chef Tong prepared food for Bobo too. It’s fine, no need to feed him too much.”
Shen Tingxue hummed in acknowledgment.
Teng Ying coughed lightly. “Alright, let’s hurry up and eat.”
“There’s still dessert to come.”
After dinner, the atmosphere remained delicate.
The newly arrived smart cleaning robot silently tidied the dining room until it was spotless. Chef Tong was already preparing the menu for the next day.
Shi Anzhi took Bobo to eat his nutritional meal, Ning Yuyou was studying the smart cleaner’s manual, and Teng Ying was processing herbs. Everyone had something to do only Shen Tingxue was left with nothing.
Just then, Bai Cha contacted Shen Tingxue, asking for her location. Magnolia Manor was still undergoing environmental purification, and he inquired whether her room should be prioritized for cleanup.
Shen Tingxue bit her lower lip unconsciously, lost in thought.
Although her position here was awkward, she found herself unwilling to leave.
Besides, she hadn’t even confirmed Shi Anzhi’s feelings yet, why should she go?
She turned to Teng Ying, setting aside her pride, and said sincerely, “Dr. Teng, thank you for taking me in these past two days.”
“My residence is ready, but the manor has just been activated and still needs some time for safety adjustments.”
Teng Ying found it amusing. “Does Miss Shen always find herself with nowhere to go?”
She deliberately drew out her words. “This isn’t some five-star hotel. Staying here comes with a price.”
Shen Tingxue quickly replied, “How much do you want?”
“Not money. It’s just Miss Shen has never washed dishes before, has she?”
“You’ll wash the dishes from tonight as payment. You can stay in the medical room as long as you like.”
Shen Tingxue was stunned. She had clearly seen the smart cleaning robot in the house, capable of automatically washing dishes and utensils. Was Teng Ying deliberately making things difficult for her?
Regardless, she agreed. “Alright!”
Shen Tingxue actually went to the kitchen. She took a deep breath and turned on the faucet.
There were an unusually large number of dishes today. Unaccustomed to such tasks, she felt momentarily at a loss.
Even when she and Shi Anzhi lived in the slums, they never had this many dishes to wash.
After a moment of silence, Shen Tingxue put on gloves and began rinsing off the grease. The water splashed noisily as she lowered her head, meticulously cleaning each plate.
Before long, her lower back began to ache something that had never happened no matter how hard she worked before.
After having a child, she had become more prone to soreness and discomfort.
Shen Tingxue was wearing gloves and couldn’t easily rub her waist, so she endured the pain and continued.
She couldn’t help feeling a little aggrieved. Shen Hong had never even punished her by making her wash dishes. As this thought crossed her mind, she also distanced herself from it, realizing that she seemed to have become much more emotionally vulnerable than before, her feelings easily stirred.
Probably still the effects of pregnancy hormones.
After leisurely washing about a third of the dishes, a sudden noise came from outside the kitchen door.
Shi Anzhi brought Bobo’s dog bowl in and looked at the scene in astonishment, “What are you doing?”
Shen Tingxue turned around and felt even more aggrieved upon seeing Shi Anzhi.
Her eyes were red, “I have nowhere to go.”
“Teng Ying said if I want to stay and sleep here, I have to wash the dishes.”
After saying this, Shen Tingxue was startled by her own words, how manipulative they sounded.
But perhaps they would be effective.
Shen Tingxue thought in a conflicted manner, “Teng Ying has never liked me.”
This line felt familiar, and Shen Tingxue recalled she had said something similar before, back when the subject was Lin Wenshui. That person had long since disappeared from their world.
Shen Tingxue wished everyone who stood between her and Shi Anzhi would vanish.
Shi Anzhi frowned, “Do you do whatever she says?”
Since when had Shen Tingxue ever been so obedient to anyone?
Shen Tingxue continued pitifully, “You’re all so close, only I am an outsider.”
This was the truth from her subconscious.
She didn’t care whether others liked her or not; what mattered was Shi Anzhi’s attitude. She didn’t believe Shi Anzhi could develop feelings for someone else so quickly the accusation of infidelity was mostly said in anger.
But Shi Anzhi really didn’t like her as much as before.
Shen Tingxue could feel it.
Shi Anzhi sighed. In the steam-filled air, Shen Tingxue looked damp and vulnerable, as if on the verge of tears.
“Teng Ying always talks like that. You don’t need to listen to her.”
“There are automatic cleaning machines now. Go rest.”
Shen Tingxue nodded, sensing the atmosphere was quite good at the moment, and released a bit of pheromones.
She blinked and deliberately said cautiously, “Then, since I washed the dishes, can I stay here now?”
Shi Anzhi chuckled inwardly. Didn’t Shen Tingxue realize how obvious her act of playing weak and clumsy was?
But Shi Anzhi didn’t mind it now; in fact, she found it somewhat refreshing.
“Alright.”
Shen Tingxue pursed her lips and continued, “Then…”
“Tonight, can I sleep with you?”
“Don’t you want to know if I’m pregnant? Don’t you want to feel it for yourself?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Shen Tingxue’s face flushed. Once she could sleep with Shi Anzhi, she refused to believe Shi Anzhi could maintain that indifferent expression.
