The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 45
Stop fooling me.
The hatch slowly opened, letting in the distinct scent of Zone R.
The coarse, damp smell of dust pried open Shi Anzhi’s dormant senses, pulling her out of the state induced by the Special Zone.
Shi Anzhi was the first to descend the gangway.
Looking out, the sky was a sheet of leaden gray, thick clouds hanging oppressively low as if acid rain could fall at any moment. On the distant horizon, abandoned industrial towers stood in silence, while nearby, scattered fragments of unknown metal gleamed with a cold, faint light.
Everything in Zone R was just as she had left it dilapidated and desolate.
She was back.
Compared to Shi Anzhi, Ning Yuyou, who followed behind her, seemed slightly unsettled by the scene before her. A hint of surprise flickered in her eyes, and she couldn’t help but cough a few times. Her expensive trench coat looked utterly out of place here.
“Anzhi…”
She murmured, “Is this Zone R?”
Ning Yuyou had plenty of work experience, but this was her first time in Zone R.
“Mm.”
Shi Anzhi responded, her gaze sweeping past everything around her and settling on the only exit of the spaceport.
“Let’s go.”
Ning Yuyou snapped back to attention. “Coming.”
At the exit, a modified black off-road vehicle was parked, its headlights casting two beams of light, illuminating countless dust particles dancing in the air.
Teng Ying leaned against the car, a slender cigarette held between her fingers, its crimson ember glowing and fading intermittently.
Spotting Teng Ying’s car, Shi Anzhi’s lips curved into a faint smile. She quickened her pace and walked toward the figure.
Ning Yuyou followed closely behind.
As they drew nearer, Teng Ying grinned at Shi Anzhi and blew out a smoke ring. “Well, look who’s finally decided to come back?”
She gave Shi Anzhi a once-over, her gaze lingering for a few seconds on what appeared to be an expensive combat suit, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
The Alpha before her still carried that same aloofness in her brow, yet her overall demeanor had undergone a subtle change, a sense of composure that seemed to have settled after weathering storms.
“Yeah, I’m back.”
Shi Anzhi stopped in front of Teng Ying, answering simply.
Teng Ying’s gaze shifted past Shi Anzhi to the Omega trailing closely behind her.
She had noticed this Omega from afar. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she scrutinized Ning Yuyou from head to toe.
Not bad-looking a delicate, charming beauty with round, seemingly innocent eyes.
Teng Ying stubbed out her cigarette and remarked half-jokingly, “Just escaped from the fiery pit of the Shen family’s eldest daughter, only to fall into another tender trap?”
Ning Yuyou didn’t seem the least bit offended, a sweet smile gracing her face. She stepped forward proactively and extended her hand to Teng Ying. “Hello, Dr. Teng. I’m Ning Yuyou, the liaison officer sent by President Ji to assist Sister Anzhi.”
“President Ji?”
Teng Ying raised an eyebrow. In the Special Zone, there was only one President Ji with overwhelming influence.
Since when did the arms magnate, whose power could shake the entire empire, have any connection with Shi Anzhi? And why send a liaison officer along.
Teng Ying had a bad feeling about this.
She didn’t take Ning Yuyou’s hand, instead shoving her own hands into her pockets and saying lazily, “Liaison officer? Sounds pretty fancy.”
“But here in Zone R, this backwater, there’s nothing that needs liaising with the Ji family.”
“There will be from now on.”
Ning Yuyou smiled as she withdrew her hand, showing no trace of embarrassment. “General Manager Ji has high hopes for Sister Anzhi’s development in District R and is willing to provide all necessary support.”
She deliberately emphasized the words “necessary support.”
Teng Ying fell silent, her gaze shifting between Shi Anzhi and the seemingly harmless yet sharp-tongued Omega beside her.
Shi Anzhi broke the standoff, speaking up at just the right moment. “She’s here to help us at General Manager Ji’s request. I’ll fill you in on the details later.”
Teng Ying frowned slightly.
Shi Anzhi placed a hand on Teng Ying’s shoulder, hinting, “The first batch of supplies from General Manager Ji will arrive tomorrow medicines, medical equipment, and basic cybernetics. She added quite a few extras.”
“Alright, let’s not stand around here any longer.”
Hearing this, Teng Ying raised an eyebrow and opened the car door. “Get in. It’s windy out. I’ve prepared a welcome dinner for you.”
“And while we’re at it, we can talk about this whole mess.”
Ning Yuyou understood from her tone that Teng Ying had temporarily accepted her. She cheerfully got into the car and marveled at the surprisingly lavish interior. “This car is really well-modified.”
“Isn’t it?”
Teng Ying replied casually.
The off-road vehicle jolted along the rugged road as the scenery outside the window flew by. Watching the streets pass, Shi Anzhi felt an inexplicable surge of excitement, as if something new was about to happen.
After driving for a while, Teng Ying spoke while keeping her eyes on the road. “As I mentioned before, after Ding Sha died, I passed along some knives and intel to a few of his subordinates, making a profit from the chaos.”
“Now, the most powerful ones have been taken down by me. The rest are just small fries, not worth worrying about.”
Shi Anzhi asked, “What about the Rust Gang and Prajna Lotus?”
“Hah, compared to Ding Sha’s men, those groups are the real trouble.”
Teng Ying’s expression grew more serious. “The Rust Gang’s leader, Hammer, is a stubborn Alpha. He took advantage of the infighting in Ding Sha’s faction to seize several establishments in the Red Light District. His influence has grown significantly.”
“As for Prajna Lotus, those maniacs are even harder to deal with. They recently got their hands on a new batch of drugs from who knows where, and their movements have become even more erratic. A few days ago, they raided one of the Rust Gang’s armories at night and made off with a lot of valuable goods.”
“A bunch of crazy women. They’re always unpredictable, no one knows what they’re really after.”
“I’ve already spread the word about your deeds in The Crucible through the black market network. To some people in District R, you’re now a legend who rose from these streets.”
Teng Ying paused, glancing at Shi Anzhi through the rearview mirror. Unsure whether Ning Yuyou and the Ji family behind her were friends or foes, she kept the information surface-level for now.
Shi Anzhi listened, lost in thought, while Ning Yuyou sat quietly beside her, subtly observing her reaction.
“I used a portion of my earnings over the years to secure a good place. It used to be a stronghold for a noble during the political turmoil in the Special Zone, a large villa with a yard, independent power and water supply, a medical room, and an armory. It’s more than enough for us to establish a foothold here.”
“I’m gradually moving the clinic’s equipment over. The new place is spacious, so you’ll each have your own room.”
Ning Yuyou immediately leaned in closer, smiling. “Thank you, Dr. Teng.”
Shi Anzhi’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. There was no need for formalities between her and Teng Ying, but thinking of her fruit shop brought a wave of sorrow to her heart.
The car turned onto a relatively wide street and stopped in front of a large compound.
Surprisingly, there were two guards at the gate. Shi Anzhi recognized their faces they seemed to be from before the Carnival Club. The two Alphas bowed slightly upon seeing Teng Ying’s car and opened the heavy iron gate.
The car drove into the courtyard, where several modified vehicles were parked, and a few thugs were engaged in combat training.
Upon seeing Teng Ying, they all stopped their movements and respectfully called out, “Sister Teng.”
Shi Anzhi was somewhat surprised. In the time she had been away, Teng Ying had already expanded to such an extent.
Teng Ying turned off the engine and explained, “I hired them. The world is chaotic now, and I attract more attention than before, so I have to prioritize safety.”
Her words carried a deeper meaning: “To ensure my future safety, I had to take the initiative.”
Hearing this, Shi Anzhi smiled.
“I know.”
Just then, a loud bark echoed from a building not far away.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
Shi Anzhi’s heart leaped, and she immediately pushed open the car door, rushing toward the source of the sound.
A yellow blur shot out from the distance, carried by a gust of wind, and threw itself into her arms.
Bobo frantically rubbed its head against her chest, emitting joyful whimpers from its throat, its tail wagging like a propeller.
It had lost some weight, but its fur was glossy, and its eyes seemed to hold a hint of grievance.
Shi Anzhi held it tightly, burying her face in its warm fur.
In an instant, it felt as if all the pain she had endured in the Special Zone had been healed.
“Bobo…”
Shi Anzhi called the puppy’s name with force, her eyes instantly reddening.
“I’m back.”Her home was gone, but at least her concern was still alive.”
Bobo licked her wildly, jumping and pouncing on her.
Teng Ying watched the scene with a relieved smile. After a long while, her gaze met Ning Yuyou’s, who was standing nearby.
Ning Yuyou was still smiling, but Teng Ying was the first to look away.
A dangerous woman with unclear intentions she couldn’t be bothered to engage further.
Teng Ying arranged for Shi Anzhi and Ning Yuyou to stay temporarily in a standalone two-story building within the compound.
Compared to the ornate carvings of the main villa, this building had a simpler, more elegant decor. It was fully equipped, and the rooms were spotlessly clean.
Being new here, Ning Yuyou didn’t disturb Shi Anzhi and Teng Ying excessively. She quietly gathered information, only appearing when appropriate.
That evening, the group shared a welcome dinner. The table was laden with various meats, a luxury in District R.
Once again, Shi Anzhi felt that Teng Ying had truly become wealthy.
As the meal was nearing its end and night had fallen, an important guest arrived for a bandage change, forcing Teng Ying to leave the table early to attend to them.
Thus, only Shi Anzhi and Ning Yuyou remained.
The sky was gloomy, without a single star in sight. Sitting in the courtyard, they enjoyed the cool breeze, savoring the tranquility.
Exhausted from the day’s journey, neither of them broke the silence.
Suddenly, Shi Anzhi’s terminal vibrated. She took it out and saw a message from an unknown source, sent by a string of numerical IDs.
Someone had sent her a picture and text.
[Look at the baby, do you want it?]
Shi Anzhi’s pupils instantly contracted.
Zooming in, it was a scan from a hospital ultrasound machine. Against a gray background, the image of a small gestational sac appeared.
Below the image, there was a line of data.
[Gestational Age: Approximately 4 weeks and 3 days]
Shi Anzhi stared blankly at the picture, her mind completely empty.
What did this mean? Gestational age?
Time, place countless fragments collided wildly in her mind.
She could only think of Shen Tingxue.
Shen Tingxue had once claimed to be pregnant, but it was a lie, she had used rabbit pregnancy hormones to create a false pregnancy just to deceive Shi Anzhi and obtain her pheromones.
And now, was Shen Tingxue still trying to trick her?
Recalling the events of their separation, Shi Anzhi’s hands began to tremble uncontrollably, so violently that her terminal nearly slipped from her grasp.
She had once been overjoyed at the thought of a baby, readily accepting everything Shen Tingxue said.
Now, how dare Shen Tingxue provoke her with this lie again? What gave her the right?
A wave of humiliation surged from the depths of her heart. Shi Anzhi stared at the image, her eyes turning red, her teeth unconsciously biting her lower lip until she tasted a hint of blood.
Did Shen Tingxue think she was still the fool who could be easily swayed by a few tears?
Stop fooling me.
Just as Shi Anzhi was sinking into anger, Ning Yuyou, who was beside her, quickly noticed.
“Anzhi, what’s wrong?”
Her voice sounded like a gentle, clear spring.
Shi Anzhi snapped out of it, instinctively turning off the screen, but it was already too late.
Ning Yuyou’s gaze caught the gestational sac image on the screen, and though surprise flashed in her heart, her expression remained calm.
Shi Anzhi shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
“Sorry, I accidentally caught a glimpse just now.”
Ning Yuyou said in a casual tone, “Was it a spam message from some maternity store?”
“Or maybe it was from some Omega at a nightclub trying to pick up clients. These targeted ads are pretty accurate they know you’re an Alpha and send you stuff like this.”
Shi Anzhi was momentarily stunned and didn’t respond.
Ning Yuyou laughed and complained, “I often get harassing messages from Alphas too. These people have all sorts of tricks and will say anything to deceive you. Just the other day, someone messaged me asking me to take responsibility for her baby.”
“As an Omega, how could I possibly get someone pregnant?”
Hearing Ning Yuyou’s explanation, Shi Anzhi glanced at the unknown sender’s address.
Ning Yuyou had reminded her, why had she immediately assumed it was from Shen Tingxue without any evidence?
Shen Tingxue, that haughty person had once even threatened to kill her right in front of her.
“Do you get these often?”
“Yeah.”
Ning Yuyou smiled. “But I’ve had a built-in communicator installed these past few years, so I don’t use the terminal much anymore.”
“For messages like this, just block them.”
Shi Anzhi opened her terminal again, looking at the image that had shattered her heart and that nauseating question.
“Can it be blocked?”
She asked softly, her voice tinged with exhaustion.
Ning Yuyou smiled, her eyes curving like crescent moons. “Of course! Do you want me to show you how?”
Shi Anzhi hummed in agreement.
Ning Yuyou leaned in closer. She hadn’t used Shi Anzhi’s model of terminal before, but she had learned all the hidden operations in school’s intelligence class, just in case.
Relying on her memory from back then, she fiddled with it for a moment and pointed to a corner of the screen. “Look, tap here.”
Her fingers, slender and nimble, worked deftly. “Then, just add this source address to the block list. It will ask you whether you want to temporarily or permanently block it.”
Ning Yuyou looked up at Shi Anzhi, blinking her deer-like eyes. “Anzhi, which one do you want to choose?”
Shi Anzhi stared at the two cold options on the screen, her finger hovering over the “permanently block” option.
Suddenly, countless memories surged into her mind like a tidal wave. She remembered Shen Tingxue trembling in her arms, their kisses in the leaky little hut those feelings had been so real.
Everything should come to an end.
A confirmation box popped up on the screen.
[Add this source address to the permanent block list?]
Shi Anzhi pressed down firmly.
[Confirmed. The source address has been permanently blocked. You will no longer receive any messages from this address.]
Shi Anzhi felt a sense of relief. It was all over. Whether the sender was Shen Tingxue or not, she no longer wanted to be disturbed by such messages.
She turned off the screen and casually tossed the terminal aside.
