The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 37.2
Teng Ying remained neutral among them, a figure all factions sought to court. After all, everyone gets injured eventually, and injuries require doctors.
Shi Anzhi’s expression turned grave. “Teng Ying, what have you done?”
“Nothing much, really.”
“With Ding Sha dead, the balance shattered. His top enforcers are all fighting to become the new boss, total chaos.”
“Seeing this, the Rust Gang and Borealis Lotus naturally wanted a piece of the action. As for me?” Teng Ying smiled faintly. “I simply treated every wounded person who came to me equally.”
“Ding Sha’s people came, I treated them. Rust Gang members came, I treated them too.”
“While treating them, I’d casually mention how their rivals had come for treatment just days earlier, wounded worse than them, probably hiding in the abandoned warehouses west of town.”
“Just making conversation, really. I’d warn Ding Sha’s men that the Rust Gang was about to acquire a new batch of energy cells, better strike fast.”
Recalling how she’d manipulated those fools into escalating conflicts with mounting casualties, Teng Ying laughed in satisfaction.
Doctors need patients to make money, don’t they?
Lately, business had been so booming she’d hired extra hands to handle waste disposal and even funded Xiao Qu’s prosthetics repair training the kid might prove useful later.
Listening, Shi Anzhi felt a chill creep up his spine.
Teng Ying’s methods killed without visible blades.
She always operated this way using information and medical resources as threads to tug at every faction’s nerves in District R, making them slaughter each other until both sides lay broken.
“They’ve almost fought themselves to exhaustion now.”
As he listened, Shi Anzhi recalled Teng Ying’s words during their previous calls. “With the situation still unstable, are you planning to replace Ding Sha after weakening them all and take over his remaining forces?”
Teng Ying looked up, meeting his gaze seriously. “No.”
“I’m just a business-minded Beta who loves money and prefers scheming behind the scenes. Making me face those desperados daily to establish real order? That’s not me.”
“But you,” she continued, “you’re different.”
Shi Anzhi froze. What did she mean?
“I’m truly glad I saved you back then. You killed Ding Sha and became famous throughout District R, and now you’ve defeated K11 in The Crucible. Did you know the Carnival Club plays your footage defeating Mad Bull every single day? Ah Shan keeps boasting everywhere that you’re his friend.”
Teng Ying paused briefly. “Ding Sha’s era is long gone now it’s your time. I have money, manpower, and connections now. What I need is someone who can truly hold the fort for me.”
Shi Anzhi understood Teng Ying’s meaning. She blinked, her gaze unconsciously drifting to the sofa where “The Omega Scientific Pregnancy Guide” lay open.
She was lost in thought.
Teng Ying continued, “Shi Anzhi, your victory against K11 in The Crucible has spread throughout District R via the underground network. To many in District R now, you’re like a deity, they see you as the hope of this place.”
“So come back.”
Teng Ying extended a sincere invitation. “Return to District R. This is where you were born after all. Let’s share this power together, and never have to answer to anyone again.”
“If the opportunity arises, we might even expand our influence to other districts.”
Listening to Teng Ying’s bold vision, Shi Anzhi remained stunned for quite a while.
Her emotions were tangled. After long contemplation, she finally told Teng Ying, “I need to think about it.”
Ah Xue was pregnant now she couldn’t afford to get injured casually like before. That would be too irresponsible.
Besides, District R was simply too far from the Special Zone. She couldn’t stay in District R permanently without returning.
“The Omega Scientific Pregnancy Guide” stated that Omegas become extremely fragile during pregnancy, requiring regular calming pheromones from their Alpha to prevent prenatal depression and ensure the baby’s health.
Whatever she decided, she needed to discuss this with Shen Tingxue first and seek her lover’s opinion.
Teng Ying, skilled in psychological games, didn’t press Shi Anzhi. She simply hummed in acknowledgment.
“No rush. I’ll keep paving the way for you more steadily first.”
Remembering something, her voice softened. “Oh, by the way, Xiao Qu has started learning cybernetic repair now. That mutt of yours is staying with me.”
“He misses you terribly. I feed him the best jerky every day, but he’s still losing weight.”
Hearing about Bobo, Shi Anzhi’s heart immediately clenched. “Bobo? Let me see him.”
“Wait a moment.”
Teng Ying’s image disappeared for a few minutes. Faintly, she could be heard calling for Bobo. Then, a yellow whirlwind burst through the door.
He barked excitedly, circling the projection with continuous “Woof woof woofs!” His tail wagged nonstop. Unable to sense his owner’s presence, Bobo jumped up, touching the projection, trying to lick the screen but only passing through empty air.
“Alright, alright.”
Teng Ying walked in, picked up Bobo, and held him so Shi Anzhi could see him better.
After so many days apart, Shi Anzhi’s eyes immediately stung when she saw the little yellow dog. “Bobo, you really have gotten thinner.”
Teng Ying raised a hand halfheartedly in surrender. “I haven’t been mistreating him! We’ve had so many customers lately, and plenty of scrap too there’s no way I’d let him go hungry.”
“He won’t eat rotten meat.”
Shi Anzhi frowned.
“I’m not feeding him rotten meat!”
Teng Ying was left speechless. She stood up and fetched a few packs of high-protein dog treats to show off. “I told you I’m making money now. Look at the new ones I bought for it. Stop talking nonsense, okay?”
Shi Anzhi, her eyes red, ignored Teng Ying and spoke to Bobo instead: “Bobo, how are you doing?”
“Where have you been playing lately?”
“If Teng Ying treats you better, raise your left paw. If Xiao Qu treats you better, raise your right paw.”
Bobo wagged its tail and tried to lick Shi Anzhi’s face again, though of course, it still couldn’t reach.
Panting heavily, it raised its right paw. Shi Anzhi immediately shot a glance at Teng Ying.
“Because it’s a mirror image!” Teng Ying yelled indignantly. She shook the paw Bobo had raised. “This is the left paw. How could that broke Xiao Qu possibly be better to you than I am?”
“Alright, alright, alright.”
Shi Anzhi smiled. “Hold it a little tighter and come closer. Let me get a good look at how well Bobo’s fur is being taken care of now.”
Teng Ying cooperatively stepped forward a bit and said quietly, “You’ll see it more clearly when you come back.”
Shi Anzhi fell silent for a moment and didn’t respond to the hint.
“Bobo, stop licking.”
The video call lasted a long time.
Even after ending the call, Shi Anzhi still had a smile on her lips.
In the past, she only had a dog. Now, she had a lover and a baby. Everything was getting closer to the ideal family she had envisioned since childhood.
As for the fruit store that had been vandalized.
Shi Anzhi calmed herself. It didn’t matter. She would find time to return to R District and rebuild it. Now that she had the baby, it wouldn’t be a problem to bring Bobo to the Special Zone. With her bonus, she could open a small fruit store in the Special Zone.
She thought about many things, and the more she thought, the brighter the future seemed. Everything was worth looking forward to.
But it had been so long, and Shen Tingxue still hadn’t sent her any new messages.
She had asked Shen Tingxue if she was still feeling unwell, but Shen Tingxue hadn’t replied.
Shi Anzhi tried summoning Xiao Yu again, but there was still no response.
After multiple attempts, Xiao Yu emitted a piercing alarm, followed by garbled code.
[WAKEUPWAKEUPW5 4C 4C]
“Xiao Yu!”
Shi Anzhi felt something was wrong and began to grow uneasy.
Just then, Xiao Yu suddenly emitted a rapid series of electronic tones before completely crashing.
[Intruder’s voiceprint and iris are correct, but no normal * ¤*# detected **&PR!!!!]
Had someone broken in?
Shi Anzhi’s internal alarms went off. Her top priority was to find the long-unused alloy pipe. She first listened for any movement in the living room.
There was no sound. It was very quiet.
Who could possibly come to the Shen residence?
Could it be A’Xue’s parents? Or her friends or subordinates?
As Shi Anzhi pondered, the doorbell rang from the entrance. She felt slightly relieved someone who rang the doorbell probably wasn’t a malicious intruder.
With the smart housekeeper crashed, Shi Anzhi couldn’t see who was at the door. To avoid making a bad impression on any of Shen Tingxue’s acquaintances, she didn’t bring the alloy pipe to the door and left it somewhere farther away.
But when she looked at the screen, Shi Anzhi breathed a sigh of relief.
