The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 36.1
Morning Sickness.
Chu Pharmaceuticals was a large drug manufacturer attached to the Shen Group, sharing both prosperity and decline with the Shen family. It held considerable renown within the special zone.
Chu Yi had an older Alpha brother above her. Though her brother was mediocre and incompetent, he was deeply favored by their father. As an Omega, no matter how hard she worked, within the Chu family, she would always be relegated to her brother’s shadow.
She refused to accept this.
Thus, she chose to follow Shen Tingxue.
Shen Tingxue faced similar struggles, yet was far more capable than her.
Her lady’s success was her own success. If the young lady could seize power, then it would be only natural for Chu Yi to become the sole heir of the Chu family.
Now that the young lady was softening, she needed a push.
After much contemplation, Chu Yi secretly recalled several other core researchers to the laboratory after Shen Tingxue left, claiming there was important information to share.
Once everyone had gathered, Chu Yi spoke with a serious tone, her words carrying a hint of incitement, “Everyone, I know how troubling things have been lately. Finally, the new solution we’ve been desperately seeking has emerged.”
“But,”She said unwillingly, “the young lady has halted further research on the new solution due to personal reasons.””
“What?” someone immediately grew restless. “Didn’t the young lady bring the test subject today?”
Another quickly added, “Why? At a time like this? The young lady can’t gamble with all our futures and lives.”
The speaker was a Beta named He Rui. His family was once a prominent academic dynasty, but by his generation, it had declined, leaving behind only a worthless noble title.
Though He Rui had inherited his family’s scientific talent, he faced constant exclusion due to his Beta status until he met Shen Tingxue.
Shen Tingxue recognized his talent, recruited him into the laboratory, entrusted him with significant responsibilities, and made him Chu Yi’s deputy.
Chu Yi remained silent for a moment, observing the researchers’ reactions. She sensed that resistance would likely be minimal.
She looked each of them in the eye and revealed, “So, for now, we must conduct research in secret on behalf of the young lady. I’ve already obtained Miss Shi’s glandular fluid and can initiate preliminary analysis and simulation experiments.”
A collective gasp swept through the room.
No one responded immediately; instead, they fell into a brief, heavy silence.
The most senior researcher spoke first, “Chu Yi, your actions are too reckless.”
“The laboratory has strict operational standards. Any research exceeding A-level clearance requires a startup key personally issued by the young lady. Without the key, all our operations will be logged by the central system and could trigger the highest level of alerts.”
Shen Tingxue’s multiple layers of encryption were initially designed to prevent Shen Hong from discovering her ulterior motives. As the experimental projects grew in scale, to guard against external information theft and internal uncontrollable factors, she meticulously established complex workflows and enlisted a hacker team to prevent intrusions.
As long as her key was in place, even if a researcher were captured and subjected to brain-death information extraction, it would activate an intracranial self-destruct sequence.
Another Alpha, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke, “Chu Yi, we are the young lady’s people. Our loyalty belongs solely to her.”
“Engaging in research of this level without authorization, if discovered, would mean more than just being fired. We could be accused of corporate espionage and end up in prison.”
“I know.”
Chu Yi extended her hand and entered an extremely complex string of code.
The next second, an interface similar to the laboratory system appeared, but with one key difference, its core code flickered with a dim red glow.
“What is this?”
Chu Yi struggled to keep her tone steady. “It’s a shadow system I developed earlier. It can temporarily deceive the main system. As long as we keep each session under an hour and a half, Director Shen will never find out.”
The researchers exchanged shocked glances, their eyes filled with disbelief.
Chu Yi understood their hesitation. “I get your concerns. Anyone who doesn’t want to participate can pretend nothing happened.”
“Those willing can take this gamble with me.”
Her gaze was resolute as she made her final appeal. “Even if we lose, it’s better than sitting idly by, watching the experimental subjects die one by one.”
After a long silence, someone in the lab was the first to respond.
It was He Rui.
He reached out to Chu Yi. “I’ve always been your deputy. I’m in.”
Soon, another person sighed and chose to join as well.
In the end, more than half of the core researchers decided to participate.
Shen Tingxue jolted awake, experiencing her first bout of morning sickness.
She didn’t even have time to explain anything to Bai Yue. Quickly getting out of bed, she leaned over the sink and began retching. Nothing came up, but her body trembled with such discomfort that she wanted to curl up and hide.
The commotion of her getting out of bed woke Shi Anzhi, who, after a moment of confusion, immediately followed her to the sink.
Shi Anzhi turned off the faucet, which Shen Tingxue had accidentally turned on full blast, and gently smoothed back the damp strands of hair from Shen Tingxue’s face. She released a wave of soothing pheromones and held the Omega close.
Shen Tingxue trembled violently in her arms.
Feeling the tremors, Shi Anzhi patted Shen Tingxue’s back gently, her own heart aching with worry. “What’s wrong? It’s only been a few weeks. How are you feeling now?”
“Was it because I, last night.”
Shen Tingxue reached out and covered Shi Anzhi’s mouth.
“No, it’s not that. Could you just hold me tighter?”
Shi Anzhi complied, her heart fluttering with panic as she watched Shen Tingxue’s face pale with pain.
After a while, Shen Tingxue calmed down under the influence of the soothing pheromones. She lifted her head and nuzzled Shi Anzhi’s cheek this time without any hint of desire, simply seeking comfort through the intimate gesture.
She thought to herself that the concentration of rabbit pregnancy hormones must be exceptionally high, causing such a severe physical reaction. It seemed she would need to get a restorative injection.
The hormones were beginning to fray her nerves, making her want nothing more than to stay in Shi Anzhi’s arms, avoiding everything else and simply waiting at home for the baby to arrive.
As if she really were carrying a child.
Lost in her thoughts, Shi Anzhi’s voice sounded beside her ear.
“Ah Xue, let’s get ready and go to the hospital.”
“There’s no need.”
Shen Tingxue smiled weakly. “I am a doctor, after all.”
Shi Anzhi grew increasingly anxious. “Then tell me, what can I do to make you feel better?”
Shen Tingxue thought for a moment, then relaxed. “It’s fine, it’s all normal. Just talk to me and help me relax.”
“Okay.”
Shi Anzhi noticed Shen Tingxue’s trembling had lessened a bit. Adjusting her hold, she casually started a conversation, “I’ll make breakfast for you in a while.”
Shen Tingxue smiled faintly. She had plans for the day and would likely be quite busy.
She changed the subject, “Have you thought about where our baby will sleep?”
“What should our nursery look like?”
Following Shen Tingxue’s words, Shi Anzhi began to imagine. She had no clear concept of a nursery, but now that Shen Tingxue mentioned it, she felt it was time to start preparing a dedicated room for the baby.
And clothes, toys, picture books so many things.
“It should have plenty of sunlight, some plants, and the furniture should be in vibrant colors,” Shi Anzhi said after a brief thought.
Everything she described was what those living in the slums could only dream of.
Shen Tingxue summoned Xiao Yu, browsed through numerous designs, and began sketching her own ideas. The two chatted and laughed for a long time.
The pain had truly subsided quite a bit.
“What do you think of this one?”
Shen Tingxue pointed to a starry-night-themed design. “We could make the ceiling glow like a starry sky, lay cloud-shaped rugs on the floor, and buy a cradle shaped like the moon.”
“That sounds lovely.”
Shi Anzhi studied the design seriously. “Why don’t we redesign our own bedroom like this? It would make it easier to care for the baby.”
“Mm.”
Shen Tingxue imagined it, “Then I’d want to change the style every month.”
That wasn’t a difficult request. Shi Anzhi nodded, “We could even change it every week.”
Amid their laughter, Shen Tingxue felt her body gradually returning to normal, though her head remained heavy and dizzy. Having taken the rabbit pregnancy supplement rashly, it now conflicted with the components of her focus serum, making it unsuitable to administer.
Damn it, she needed to get a restorative injection immediately.
But today, she had an event she absolutely had to attend.
To stabilize military morale, the Governor had decided to hold a memorial service for the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives at the border. Today was a day of national mourning across the Empire, and all prominent figures in the Special Zone were required to attend.
After chatting for a while longer, Shi Anzhi noticed Shen Tingxue’s complexion had returned to normal. “Shall I go make breakfast now?”
Shen Tingxue held onto Shi Anzhi’s hand. “I’ll have to leave soon. Let’s have a meal together next time.”
Shi Anzhi paused for a moment. Without asking where she was going, she blurted out, “Can I come with you?”
Her mind foggy and dizzy, Shen Tingxue curved her lips into a faint smile. She spoke honestly, revealing her dependence on Shi Anzhi, “I really wish you could come with me.”
“But my father will be there. Everyone from the Governor’s residence is required to attend today, so…”
Shi Anzhi lowered her gaze, understanding Shen Tingxue’s implication.
It was inevitable that she would feel uncomfortable, but the fact that Shen Tingxue was willing to be honest with her now was already an improvement from before.
