The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 32.1
“What if I said I’m pregnant?”
He Lanshuang turned around and saw Shen Tingxue, her expression remaining unruffled. “Tingxue.”
“The Governor’s banquet tonight must be quite lively. You just came from the Governor’s residence, didn’t you?”
Shen Tingxue didn’t even glance at her, her gaze fixed on Shi Anzhi.
The moment she entered, she had only vaguely caught the last sentence He Lanshuang uttered.
Without time to ponder He Lanshuang’s intentions, she anxiously observed Shi Anzhi’s current expression.
He Lanshuang smiled faintly, a hint of amusement in her tone. “I heard Jiang Qi has achieved another great victory at the border and will return triumphant soon. The Governor must be in high spirits today.”
“We’ll soon be celebrating your wedding. I haven’t had the chance to congratulate you in person yet.”
Every word from He Lanshuang was like a gentle knife, precisely slicing open the reality Shen Tingxue wished to avoid.
Shi Anzhi listened to their conversation, her heart numb.
Jiang Qi, the engagement.
She always unconsciously ignored the matter of Shen Tingxue’s engagement. He Lanshuang’s words reminded her once again that in everyone’s eyes, Shen Tingxue’s future was already bound to another Alpha.
And what was Shi Anzhi?
A hidden lover kept in the Shen family? A toy publicly humiliated at gatherings?
There was an insurmountable chasm between them. By staying by Shen Tingxue’s side, she didn’t even have a status that would allow her to compete for affection.
Shen Tingxue’s tone was sharp. “Miss He Lanshuang, what do you mean by this?”
Agitated, Shen Tingxue made no effort to conceal her feelings. “It must have been you who made Anzhi go on stage, right? Now you’re acting as if nothing happened. What exactly are you trying to do?”
Just as He Lanshuang was about to respond, Shi Anzhi spoke first.
Her voice carried a distant tone as she looked at Shen Tingxue. “She helped me.”
“Miss He Lanshuang lent me a weapon and told me about K11’s weakness. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have won. She also went out of her way to get medicine for me just now.”
Shen Tingxue stared blankly at Shi Anzhi. Was Shi Anzhi defending He Lanshuang?
She was furious.
What did lending a weapon matter? If He Lanshuang were any kind of good person, why didn’t she go on stage herself? Shi Anzhi was always too kind, thinking the best of others, never realizing when she was being bullied.
It was the same with Lin Wenshui, the same with Teng Ying, and now with He Lanshuang.
Shen Tingxue felt hurt, and the more hurt she felt, the harder it was to stay calm.
She glanced at the medicine with disdain. “Is that so? Thank you for taking care of Anzhi for me.”
“However, compared to the Shen family’s medical team, the efficacy of this medicine is far inferior. There’s no need to trouble you further.”
Shi Anzhi frowned slightly upon hearing this.
He Lanshuang observed Shen Tingxue’s completely ruffled demeanor and knew her goal had been achieved.
She smiled at Shi Anzhi without arguing. “It’s fine, Anzhi. Since your friend is here, I should take my leave.”
“By the way, what I said earlier stands anytime.”
“Don’t let yourself live unhappily.”
With that, she ignored Shen Tingxue’s increasingly dark expression and left the room.
The door closed, and the room fell into a brief silence.
Shen Tingxue looked at Shi Anzhi, her heart feeling as if it were being gnawed by countless insects. She was flustered, at a loss.
“Why did you go fight again?”
Shen Tingxue couldn’t help but speak first, “Whatever He Lanshuang told you, you believed her just like that? Do you know how worried I was when I was watching? I was scared to death.”
“Or was it for the prize money? If you needed money, you could have told me. I could give you anything you wanted. Why did you have to come to a place like this and sell your life for others’ entertainment?”
Each sentence felt like an accusation.
Shi Anzhi didn’t answer these questions.
She stared into Shen Tingxue’s eyes and murmured, “You’ll give me anything I want?”
“Ah Xue, you’re about to marry someone else. Isn’t saying these things.”
Shi Anzhi paused, not wanting to use harsh and sharp words with Shen Tingxue.
She swallowed hard, catching the loophole in Shen Tingxue’s words, and said bitterly, “Have you been spying on me all along?”
“You can always know what I’m doing, but I know nothing about you. I don’t know where you want to go, what you want to do, who you want to meet, or whether you’re in a good mood.”
Shen Tingxue closed her eyes briefly. “You don’t need to know any of that.”
Many things were too disgusting and complicated. Telling Shi Anzhi would be useless, and saying them out loud made her feel ashamed and insecure.
“Is that so?”
Shi Anzhi laughed coldly. “So I have to be completely transparent in front of you, but you can hide so much from me. Have you never thought how unfair that is to me?”
Shen Tingxue fell silent. The two stood in a stalemate, the atmosphere growing heavier by the minute.
Just then, the hospital door was politely knocked from outside.
“Come in.”
Shi Anzhi looked away, assuming it was medical staff, and responded casually.
The door opened. The person who entered, however, surprised them both.
Walking in first was Ji Tianheng.
She wore a dark gray trench coat, relatively low-key, but the aura of someone long accustomed to power still made people feel pressured.
Behind her followed Qin Chuan.
Strangely, Ji Tianheng didn’t speak upon entering, only stared at Shi Anzhi with a complex expression.
Her eyes held admiration, along with a deep, unreadable emotion.
After a moment of awkward silence, Qin Chuan was the first to break the quiet.
Qin Chuan wore a slight smile, unusually gentle, “Sorry to intrude. As the organizer of this event, I’ve come to visit the newly crowned champion.”
As if worried Shi Anzhi might not recognize Ji Tianheng, Qin Chuan specifically introduced her, “This is President Ji of Tianheng Industries.”
His gaze shifted from Shi Anzhi to Shen Tingxue. Seeing Shen Tingxue’s wary expression, he said, “I didn’t expect Miss Shen to be at The Furnace at this time. What a coincidence.”
Shen Tingxue remained silent for the moment. The Shen and Ji families didn’t get along well. Even her father had to show deference in front of Ji Tianheng. The current environment felt full of threats to her.
She just wanted to take Shi Anzhi back to the Shen family as quickly as possible.
Ji Tianheng looked at Shi Anzhi, seeming to hesitate, pausing for a long time before speaking her first words.
“I watched your entire match. It was brilliantly fought. You’re very intelligent and courageous.”
Shi Anzhi was taken aback. “Thank you.”
Ji Tianheng coughed, showing a rare moment of awkwardness she hadn’t experienced in years.
Seeing Ji Tianheng like this, Qin Chuan helped extend an invitation, “Miss Shi, I wonder if you’d be interested in working at Tianheng Industries? The position and salary are entirely up to you.”
Shen Tingxue felt confused inside. What’s going on?
Her sense of crisis peaked as she stepped forward and forcibly interrupted the conversation. “Thank you for your kindness, General Ji, but An Zhi still needs rest to recover from her injuries. I think it’s best not to disturb the two of you any further.”
Hearing this, Ji Tianheng looked at Shen Tingxue with impatience. “What are you to Shi Anzhi?”
Before asking this, Ji Tianheng had already formed her own judgment. Shen Tingxue had likely been rescued by Shi Anzhi after ending up in District R, and the two had formed a fleeting romance. As for their relationship after Shi Anzhi arrived in the Special Zone, it was easy to guess.
Shen Tingxue closed her eyes briefly. She wanted to say that Shi Anzhi was her Alpha, but uttering such words in front of Ji Tianheng would mean the Shen family would be torn apart by the Governor’s Mansion.
She struggled to say, “I’m her friend.”
As she spoke, she could feel Shi Anzhi’s gaze on her, filled with even more disappointment.
“Oh.” Ji Tianheng savored the term. “Just a friend, huh.”
“Then you probably don’t have the right to make decisions for her.”
The atmosphere grew tense. Shen Tingxue stiffened, unable to think of a retort for several seconds.
Ji Tianheng had no interest in bickering with someone younger. The kinship test results weren’t out yet, but she was certain Shi Anzhi had some connection to Su Lian her pheromones were far too unique.
What could the relationship between Shi Anzhi and Su Lian be? The more Ji Tianheng thought about it, the more a certain suspicion threatened to overwhelm her.
But Su Lian’s constitution was entirely unsuited for childbirth. Throughout their years together, they had always taken precautions.
Ji Tianheng could hardly contain her excitement, yet she felt a sense of trepidation, as if approaching something long-awaited. Everything would have to wait until the results were out.
She turned to Shi Anzhi, softening her voice as much as possible. “Rest well. There’s no rush about whether you want to come to the company or not.”
After speaking, she glanced at Shen Tingxue once more, then left with Qin Chuan, gently closing the door behind her.
Shen Tingxue let out a heavy sigh of relief.
She sat down beside Shi Anzhi’s hospital bed. “An Zhi, don’t go with her.”
Shi Anzhi snapped out of her thoughts. “Why?”
Whether she went or not wasn’t important to Shi Anzhi. What mattered more now was what Shen Tingxue truly thought of her.
“Do you want me to stay in the Shen family, never going anywhere, just waiting for you to come home?”
Shen Tingxue blinked. Shi Anzhi really understood her. Yes, that was exactly what she wanted.
The next moment, Shi Anzhi said resolutely, “How could that be? I would never agree to that.”
Shen Tingxue’s expression froze, a chill spreading through her heart.
The pressure from the Governor’s Mansion, her father’s coercion, the Li family’s predatory gaze, all these crises were closing in on her. And now, Shi Anzhi was going to leave her, too, and go with someone else.
Without Shi Anzhi, she would surely go mad sooner or later.
The panic in Shen Tingxue’s heart grew, threatening to consume her entirely. She had to come up with a reason Shi Anzhi couldn’t refuse.
As if possessed, she recalled the blissful smile of the Chief of Staff, who had recently become a mother.
A wild idea instantly took shape in her mind.
If it were like this given Shi Anzhi’s personality, she knew it all too well.
