Xu Yanqiu lost his mother at a young age, and his father passed away from illness when he was only sixteen. Penniless and bullied, he was nearly pushed into a river to drown. Luckily, Li Ting happened to be passing by; he fought off the villains and pulled the boy from the water. Looking at the pitiful, blind youth, Li Ting blurted out, “From now on, follow me. I’ll protect you.”
The little blind boy nodded blankly, unable to see the nine fluffy tails swishing excitedly behind Li Ting.
…
After Li Ting took the blind boy home, the villagers whispered that he was inviting bad luck into his house. They claimed the boy was a jinx who had brought misfortune to his own parents and would surely do the same to his husband. Li Ting ignored the gossip; he focused entirely on growing flowers, crafting perfumes, and raising his new husband.
Not only did he build a successful business, but rumors began to spread that the blind boy had given the Li family several children. In the Li family’s backyard, Xu Yanqiu beckoned, and a group of little furballs ran to his feet, yapping loudly. The blind boy tentatively reached out and scooped up a few, whispering softly, “Slow down, be careful not to knock over Daddy’s flowers.”
He was unaware that a certain big-tailed fox had lowered its head to sniff his neck. Hmm, my husband’s scent is still the best!
