The Lady I Flirted With Is Here - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Arson
When Lin Xian woke up, the midday sun was already hanging high in the sky. It had been a deep, grueling sleep. In her dreams, she had bumped into someone on a quiet campus path in the early morning. That person carried a cold, clean fragrance. Looking up, the woman’s eyes were full of playful mockery: “If you don’t fancy me, why follow me all the way here?” Her voice was low and husky, her lips curled in a half-smile. A cool, jade-like finger hooked under Lin Xian’s chin as she leaned in with a sharp, commanding aura.
Lin Xian wanted to explain it was just a coincidence, but the masterpiece wouldn’t listen. As if certain of Lin Xian’s affection, she relentlessly gripped her wrist under the gaze of countless passersby. The skin where they touched burned with heat. The beauty lowered her head, whispering in her ear: “Xian-Xian, just admit you love me.”
Lin Xian dazed for a long while before escaping the illusion and distinguishing it from reality. She fished her phone out from under the covers and lit up the screen. The battery was at ten percent. Only then did she remember she had spent the previous night chatting with Little Cherry and cursing out that scumbag.
Scumbag? Oh, right! Lin Xian’s pupils dilated instantly. She knew she had forgotten something important. If Little Cherry was straight, didn’t that eliminate the theory that she was the masterpiece’s girlfriend?
Overjoyed and agitated, Lin Xian clicked on the masterpiece’s WeChat profile. Before her brain could even process it, her body honestly sent a friend request: “Miss, can I add you as a friend? I don’t have any other intentions~”
Request sent successfully.
Wait. Stop. What did I just do?
Did I actually send a friend request?
Lin Xian fell into a surreal state of contemplation. It must be an illusion.
Pretending nothing had happened, Lin Xian climbed down from her bed, picked up her toiletries, and opened the bathroom door while still thinking: “Yeah, I must be dreaming.”
…
The atmosphere in the entire office was frozen. Several big shots in the technical department remained silent, their heads bowed as they focused intensely on their work. A new intern hesitated for a long time before finally nudging the lead engineer next to him: “Engineer Liu, is something wrong today? Why is everyone so serious?”
The lead engineer gave him a look that said “stay calm” and waited until he went to the restroom to whisper to the intern: “The boss is in a bad mood today. Be careful with your data. If there’s even a tiny mistake, you’ll face a full-blown explosion of anger.”
“It can’t be that serious…” the intern stammered. He suddenly recalled the tranquil face he had glimpsed through the glass window—she looked as young as a child. On his first day, he had assumed she was the middle-school daughter of one of the owners. Who would have thought…
Who would have thought that this person was the legendary technical genius who had been headhunted with a high salary immediately upon graduation, and was now the high-level executive and Technical Director—Fang Daiyu?
The technical department was full of “wolves” with very little “meat” to go around. When the new young wolves first saw Fang Daiyu, they were inevitably deceived by her appearance, secretly losing their hearts and thinking she was “fair game.” Only later did they realize she was the alpha of the pack—the only female Wolf King.
Just thinking about her status made people shiver, instantly killing any thoughts of striking up a conversation.
Fang Daiyu—the woman her subordinates only dared to discuss in the men’s room—was indeed feeling irritable. A black sun umbrella sat in the bottom left drawer of her desk. She had opened and closed that drawer countless times.
There were no friend notifications on her phone. True, she had never revealed who she was at the fan meeting, so there wouldn’t be any “butterflies” flocking to her. Lin Xian was the only girl she had actively provoked. That girl had a radiant smile and had casually asked: “Can I ask what your nickname is in the group?”
According to the normal plot progression, the next step should have been adding each other and chatting passionately.
But there was nothing…
Fang Daiyu had originally thought the “obedient” girl was just shy and would add her after going home.
Still nothing. After waiting all night, all she got was the news of the girl chatting passionately with Yin Tao.
This isn’t how it’s supposed to go… The fountain pen between Fang Daiyu’s fingers spun rapidly. When it stopped, she slapped the table and stood up. If the enemy doesn’t move, I won’t move—but if the enemy remained silent today, she would have to strike first, catch her off guard, and bring her into the net.
Just as she decided to put her phone away and immerse herself in work, the phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen. A WeChat notification popped up: “User ‘Microscope Girl’ has requested to add you as a friend~”
Fang Daiyu’s fingers paused for three seconds. Then, her picturesque features softened. After taking a deep breath, she calmly accepted the request. Once they were connected, she saw the message attached to the request:
Miss, can I add you as a friend? I don’t have any other intentions~
No other intentions?
Tapping her fingers on the desk, a smile Fang Daiyu wasn’t even aware of surfaced in her eyes. It seemed…
Things were getting interesting.
“The more you try to hide it, the more it shows.” This little girl was so amusing. Recalling how the girl had left her tossing and turning all night, Fang Daiyu decided to tease her.
She immediately typed into the input box: “Who are you? Did you add the wrong person?”
Lin Xian returned from the bathroom, drying her dripping hair. The WeChat notification on the bed rang out at just the right moment. When she saw the chat interface, she was so startled she nearly threw her phone half a meter away.
Picking it up again, Lin Xian’s face was burning. Her lips curled up, and she sat dazing and giggling for a long time, completely forgetting to reply. She clicked on “Jiu Wu’s” Moments. The other woman hadn’t set any time limits; all her records were neatly displayed.
Lin Xian bit her lip and secretly changed her own Moments from “visible for last six months” to “visible to all friends.”
She hugged her phone and laughed happily. Laughing wasn’t enough; she rolled around on her bed several times.
So happy, so happy! Lin Xian, you’ve added the WeChat of a total masterpiece!
Was this an illusion? No! She proudly raised her head in her mind: I, Lin Xian, the little pride of the lesbian community, have finally added a suspected-lesbian masterpiece!
Just then, the Northeast roommate returned to the dorm. She saw Lin Xian with soaking wet short hair dripping onto the sheets, her usually dull, nearsighted eyes sparkling with life.
The Northeast girl sensed something was up and teased her: “Yo, autumn has already started and you’re just now going into ‘heat’? Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love at first sight with some ‘older sister’ again?”
It was just a casual remark, but it struck right at Lin Xian’s secret. Lin Xian quickly used a pillow to hide her face: “What are you talking about? How is that possible?”
The Northeast girl stood by Lin Xian’s bed, climbed the ladder to lean against the rail, and snatched the pillow away. “Why isn’t it possible? Usually, if I say one word, your tail flies to the sky. You’re always talking big, acting like a dead pig that doesn’t fear boiling water. But now? You’re full of spring vibes with rosy cheeks, hiding your head like a shy little woman. Lin Xian, you’ve changed!”
“H-have I?” Lin Xian forced herself to sit up straight, puffing out her chest. The Northeast girl didn’t bother exposing her, only pressing for answers: “Confess and be treated with leniency; resist and be treated with severity. Who were you on the phone with all night? Did you meet a ‘heart arsonist’ at that ‘Friend of the Lesbians’ Liu Liu meeting?”
