The Lady I Flirted With Is Here - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: The Kiss
The night was so quiet it made one feel self-conscious. The hotel had upgraded them to a luxury room with a large double bed: “For two girls, this is much better than a standard room.” Words were said, but after the lights went out and they exchanged goodnights, the two lying in the same bed spent half the night listening to each other’s breathing, unable to sleep.
Unable to endure it any longer, Lin Xian turned over.
“What’s wrong?” Fang Daiyu sat up. Warmth touched Lin Xian’s slightly cool spine, and she instinctively reached back to grasp those hands.
Her voice was like a rope stretched over a cliff, trembling with tension: “Sister, I want to kiss you. Just once. Is that okay?”
The night masked the mist in their eyes. Fang Daiyu’s breath drew close to Lin Xian’s face, their exhalations entwining. Lin Xian gritted her teeth, and her lips brushed against fragrant, soft skin. The kiss was very light, like a feather prodding a cloud.
Fang Daiyu gripped the bedsheets with one hand to restrain herself. The touch on her face vanished. Lin Xian’s lips were soft, a gentle, ticklish warmth. This was the first time she had ever been kissed by someone. Fang Daiyu pulled back, fumbling in the dark to tuck the corner of the quilt around Lin Xian: “Now… go to sleep.”
Her head hit the pillow, though her heart felt like it was being teased by a stray piece of cotton.
“Sister, can you sleep?” In the darkness, the courage that was absent during the day grew. The girl just inches away began talking to herself: “Sister’s face is so sweet!”
“Soft and sweet, like a marshmallow.” Fang Daiyu let out a long, heavy breath from her chest. She thought to herself that the child was innocent and curious—you could tell because the “kiss” had only touched her cheek—but she had to stop talking!
“That was my first time kissing someone! It felt so good!” There was a hint of joy in the voice. Fang Daiyu suddenly flipped over and pressed down toward that small, chattering body. The beast locked inside her heart could no longer be contained.
Lin Xian was startled into silence. She felt the pressure from above and whispered cautiously, “Did I wake you? I’m sor—”
First, a tentative kiss pressed down on the bridge of her nose. Seeing no resistance, those lips moved to her cheek, the corner of her eye, her brow, her earlobe… they were wet and hot. A numbing sensation shot up from the soles of Lin Xian’s feet, and her fingers instinctively gripped the shoulders above her.
A flurry of small, dense kisses fell on every corner of her face. Once she was satisfied, Daiyu pulled away slightly. Lin Xian was dazed, her mind blank. The other woman was already lying back at her side as if nothing had happened, concluding with a simple: “It’s late. Go to sleep.”
Lin Xian was drifting off, a successful smile curling the corners of her mouth, when in the next second, her lips were pressed by the other’s. It was only a lip-to-lip contact of five or six seconds, but after Lin Xian pulled away, she spoke up fiercely: “Sister, how can you do that? You just took advantage of me, you know!”
After kissing her back, Lin Xian lay down: “Fine, now we’re even!”
Fang Daiyu wasn’t sure if Lin Xian was truly naive or just pretending, but she hadn’t expected the girl to strike back so beautifully. That little spark of conquest flared up in her heart again.
She knew she had a bit of a “wicked streak” in her bones, and it was Lin Xian who was drawing it out. She had heard that a real kiss required…
The moist, soft tip of a tongue touched Lin Xian’s teeth. Both of them shivered, separating as if they had received an electric shock.
Fang Daiyu felt a pang of regret; the stimulation was too intense. She had never imagined a real kiss would be such an experience. Those one or two seconds of “tasting” felt oddly lingering after the regret faded. Amidst this inner conflict, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
On the other side, Lin Xian was trembling with a mix of fear and excitement. She was wrong; she had been wrong from the very first moment she proactively touched her. The little expectations in her heart were entirely learned from novels—a young girl’s feelings are always poetic. Even for a “rough” girl? Who hasn’t fantasized about their first kiss? After that commotion, Lin Xian didn’t dare move another inch and fell into a deep sleep fueled by shy tension.
…
They woke up the next day near noon. By unspoken agreement, neither mentioned the previous night. After leaving the hotel and having breakfast, they returned to Fang Daiyu’s neighborhood. This time, Lin Xian still didn’t go inside; she waited in the taxi downstairs, looking reluctant as the moment of parting neared.
Staying felt awkward, but since they were in the same city, Fang Daiyu suggested they have lunch before Lin Xian left. Lin Xian followed her lead and agreed.
They went to a popular restaurant in Xidan. It was packed. While they sat in the waiting area after taking a number, Fang Daiyu disappeared, saying she was going to the restroom. When she returned, she was carrying a cup of fresh-squeezed juice for Lin Xian: “I remembered you like juice.”
A smile played on Daiyu’s lips. Lin Xian asked, “Aren’t you having any?”
Fang Daiyu acted very demure: “If my girlfriend allows it.” Lin Xian understood; this person was “tricking” her into sharing a drink again. Her face flushed. After the kissing and touching last night—brief as it was—the body was honest. Lin Xian didn’t dislike Fang Daiyu’s touch.
She took a small sip; the sweet mango juice was mixed with the flavor of dragon fruit. She moved the straw toward Fang Daiyu: “Want to try?”
Fang Daiyu took a sip, her eyes gazing deeply at Lin Xian: “My girlfriend is so sweet.”
Good grief, Lin Xian realized. Fang Daiyu was definitely not made of “fairy dust” on the inside.
“Does my girlfriend like it when I praise her like that?” Daiyu’s eyes reflected only Lin Xian’s silhouette.
“Keep your voice down.” Lin Xian didn’t mind people knowing she liked girls, but being called “girlfriend” repeatedly made her feel shy. “Yesterday you called me Xianxian.”
The waiter called their number. Fang Daiyu took Lin Xian’s hand and whispered in her ear: “I thought that after we kissed, the status was official.”
“If I don’t call you ‘girlfriend,’ what if you go home and forget me?”
“I won’t!” Lin Xian clarified as they sat down.
“What if you were dissatisfied with my actions last night?” Last night? Lin Xian lowered her head to unpack the utensils, her ears crimson but her voice small and firm: “Anyway, I won’t break up with you.”
She didn’t understand why Fang Daiyu would associate anything with a breakup.
“You said it!” Fang Daiyu cupped Lin Xian’s chin with both hands. Lin Xian’s skin was smooth, with a bit of youthful “baby fat.” Daiyu couldn’t resist giving it a little squeeze. The small face held in her palms glared at her.
“Once it’s stamped, it’s for life. Whoever mentions breaking up is a big pig!” Fang Daiyu’s expression was serious.
So childish! Lin Xian looked at her. The person today was a huge contrast to the one yesterday. Why? But she liked it; one should be indulgent toward a “fairy.” Lin Xian nodded seriously.
Fang Daiyu added another condition: “Even if we learn more about each other in the future, we won’t break up.”
“If I have any faults or flaws, you can always bring them up.”
The future? The future was a long way off. Lin Xian didn’t think that far ahead, but she nodded anyway. Fang Daiyu felt relieved: “Let’s go to the arcade after lunch!”
“Really?” Lin Xian had never been to a modern one. When she was little, her hometown only had old game dens, and as she got older, she was too embarrassed to go in.
“I love arcade games. You won’t find it annoying, will you?” Actually, Fang Daiyu had wanted to take her gaming yesterday, but it wasn’t until the kiss last night that she was certain: Lin Xian was the one she truly liked. And when you like someone, you don’t just go on “eating-and-drinking” dates.
She wanted to show Lin Xian the many sides hidden within her.
“I don’t find it annoying at all!” Lin Xian laughed. “In middle school, I loved anime and games. I was so addicted it affected my grades, so I quit. But that impulse is still in my blood. Are we going right away?” Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
