- Chapter 54 - White Peach Popping Sago
“You said his cultivation reached the Soul Transformation stage in such a short time?” Gu Wangfeng caught the most critical detail in Jiang Luoyue’s story.
“Yes. He was surrounded by a thick, black demonic qi. I’ve never seen a demonic cultivator before, so I can’t be certain, but it felt malevolent,” Jiang Luoyue said. “Is the Demon Race planning to move against the immortal sects?”
“Unlikely,” Gu Wangfeng mused. “Even though I haven’t left the Taixu Realm in a long time, there haven’t been any significant conflicts between the Demon Race and the immortal sects in recent years.”
The demons, monsters, and immortals had coexisted in relative peace for quite some time. Monster tribes and immortal sects often crossed paths in the mortal markets, even holding friendly competitions. While the Demon Race kept to themselves, there had been no friction. When life is good, no one is eager to stir up trouble.
Jiang Luoyue agreed, but the identity of the “Master” mentioned by Luo Xiuping and Zhao Ziyan would have to remain a mystery for her to solve later.
“Your injuries are quite severe this time, so I want you to meditate and recover under this peach tree,” Gu Wangfeng instructed. “This tree is the eye of the Taixu Realm’s formation—it is the physical manifestation of my spiritual power.”
“After a while, I’ll take you to the spiritual spring,” he added, reaching out to pinch her earlobe. It was soft and adorable. “And try to stop taking those Realm-Passing Pills.” His eyes darkened slightly with concern.
“Understood.” Jiang Luoyue sat cross-legged and began to circulate her spiritual energy.
With Gu Wangfeng standing guard beside her, she felt a pervasive warmth. The scent of peach blossoms was faint, but in such abundance, it created a delicate, soothing fragrance.
After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Luoyue actually drifted into a light sleep, though her body remained in a perfect meditative posture. For a cultivator, cultivation is a form of rest; one wakes with a clear mind and renewed vigor.
Gu Wangfeng couldn’t help but smile. He poked her soft cheek before picking her up and carrying her toward the spiritual spring.
The spring was hot, feeling much like a sauna. Gu Wangfeng rarely flushed in the heat, but he had long noticed that Jiang Luoyue’s face turned a lovely shade of pink after only a short soak. He held her in his arms, slowly removing their clothes.
Feeling the rising heat, Jiang Luoyue woke up in a daze. As she rubbed her eyes, she realized her arms were bare and mist was swirling around them. She instinctively wrapped her arms across her chest.
“You’re awake. Why so nervous? No one but me can touch you in the Taixu Realm,” Gu Wangfeng chuckled. He pressed his hand firmly against her back, drawing her closer until she rested against him.
Their chests met. Gu Wangfeng leaned into her ear, nibbling softly. “You’re… so soft,” he whispered.
Jiang Luoyue was still shy; she turned her face away. “I feel like the backlash this time isn’t as bad as before.”
“But Luo Xiuping’s strikes left you heavily wounded,” Gu Wangfeng reminded her.
Since they saw each other so rarely, there was no way he was going to let her off easy—especially knowing the men outside got to be close to her every single day.
“I feel like we’re having an underground affair, all secret and hidden,” Jiang Luoyue couldn’t help but laugh. “Every time I come to the Taixu Realm, we end up doing… that.”
Gu Wangfeng pressed his lips together. “I just want to be close to you. This is the most direct way to tell you how much I love you.” Without allowing her any room to refuse, he got straight to the point.
As they kissed, Jiang Luoyue found the crisp, cool scent of his body exceptionally fragrant. Consequently, Gu Wangfeng found her unusually enthusiastic today. Naturally, he put in even more effort so as not to disappoint her.
Afterward, Jiang Luoyue leaned against his shoulder, sleeping peacefully. Her hair floated in the water like silk. Gu Wangfeng gently combed through it with his fingers.
“Was it good?” he asked softly.
“Mm,” she murmured. “I want to stay a little longer this time before I leave.”
“What about the people waiting for you?” Gu Wangfeng asked, though she could hear the joy in his voice.
“My enemies are dead. My heart and mind are at peace, and I have no other desires but to stay in your arms,” she said, clingily wrapping her arms around his neck.
Suddenly, she felt the spiritual energy in her dantian surging, nearly overflowing. Her eyes snapped open. “Oh no. I think I’m about to break through.”
“If I break through here, will the lightning destroy your Taixu Realm?” she asked anxiously.
“It won’t.” Gu Wangfeng had already stepped out of the spring and was dressing. “I’ve broken through here myself.”
“Okay then.” Jiang Luoyue scrambled out of the spring. As she dressed, her eyes wandered toward Gu Wangfeng. His physique was striking, and his skin was fairer than Yue Wenqiu’s or Jiang Luoxing’s, giving him an ethereal, transcendent look.
No sooner had she dressed than thunder rumbled across the sky.
The heavenly lightning descended, and Jiang Luoyue scrambled to find her footing. She could tell this lightning was much stronger than the last. “Are you sure this place won’t be destroyed?” she yelled while running.
“I’m sure,” Gu Wangfeng laughed helplessly. “I’m protecting the formation; stop worrying about nonsense and focus!”
The thunder was deafening. A bolt singed the hem of her dress, and smoke immediately rose. She stomped her feet in fright. “I almost lost a foot!”
After several more strikes, the Jiang Luoyue who had just been fresh and glowing from the spring was now charred black. When she opened her mouth to speak, a puff of smoke came out, leaving only her white teeth visible.
“Are you alright?” Gu Wangfeng asked.
“I’m fine… just aching all over. But my dantian is full of energy,” she said, patting her stomach. “I’m in a soul state—how can I still get charred and smoky?” She dazed, touching her frizzled hair.
Gu Wangfeng couldn’t stop laughing; she looked incredibly cute like this. “Who knows?”
With a flick of a cleaning spell, he restored her appearance. He took her hand and led her toward the house. “That milk tea you made before was delicious. Make some more for me?”
“Sure, sure!” she chirped. She had a sudden inspiration to make a sago dessert, though she wasn’t sure if he’d like it. But if he liked milk tea, sago should be a hit.
System, O Universal System, can I exchange favorability for the ingredients for White Peach Popping Sago? she asked. A person like Gu Wangfeng, who had long since abstained from food, definitely wouldn’t have the supplies.
The System paused for a long time. “I am a cultivation system, not a cooking show…”
A simple thing like this shouldn’t be hard for the world’s most powerful system, right? How much favorability? I’ll pay! Jiang Luoyue said grandly.
