- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 2 - Picking Up a Loyal Puppy
When Jiang Luoyue arrived in this world, she originally intended to focus on cultivation and strengthen herself. However, the System informed her that she had to rely on dual cultivation for practice. Had she known this earlier, she would have simply gone with Yue Wenqiu.
“Oh, I wanted to persuade the host to go with him just now. That Yue Wenqiu was willing to take responsibility, he has a handsome appearance, and his family background is quite decent,” the System commented.
Jiang Luoyue did not fret for too long; what she needed to do was consider where to go next.
At the very least, Ziwei Peak was out of the question.
She still needed the System to educate her about the knowledge of this world.
After walking for a long time, Jiang Luoyue suddenly realized that as a cultivator, why was she relying solely on her own legs to travel.
“Don’t I have a mission? I have absolutely nothing on me right now,” Jiang Luoyue asked the System.
“Host, I was just about to tell you. Eight hundred meters ahead there is a village, and a young boy is being bullied. The Host can go and help him,” the System said, its tone turning slightly lecherous. “He is a beautiful boy with a broken look, oh.”
Jiang Luoyue coughed unnaturally. “Saving people is the most important thing; these other matters are secondary.”
The System felt glum. This host did not seem very unreserved. Was its ‘male-charms’ system destined to turn into a healthy, ‘green’ one?
Following the System’s guidance, Jiang Luoyue arrived at a village and saw the beaten boy.
A group of boys, all larger than the youth, were surrounding and hitting him. Jiang Luoyue called out to stop them.
“Stop!” Jiang Luoyue’s appearance drew their attention.
In this era, ordinary people were very respectful of cultivators. Jiang Luoyue’s attire looked refined, and she had a sword clipped at her waist. It was clear at a glance that she was a cultivator.
They immediately adopted a defensive stance. Although they did not know how strong this woman was, she was certainly more powerful than a group of mortals.
“Who are you?” The boy who seemed to be the leader was the first to speak.
Jiang Luoyue did not pay him any mind and walked straight towards them.
The boys watched her vigilantly, nervously taking a step back.
Jiang Luoyue raised her hand and rested it on the beaten boy’s shoulder. The youth was very thin and frail, his clothes ragged. He was covered in bruises from the beating and looked entirely gray and dusty.
He resembled a dirty, stray dog.
“Come with me,” Jiang Luoyue said gently.
She could not tell if the boy was handsome; his scattered hair covered his face, and he kept his head lowered.
The ‘broken look’ was certainly true. Long-term malnutrition and constant bullying made him look like he might collapse at any moment.
“Immortal, you want to take him away? He is a Heavenly Doom Solitary Star (Tian Sha Gu Xing – a person destined to bring misfortune and live alone),” the boy exclaimed anxiously.
Which child in the village did not dream of becoming an Immortal? Yet this beautiful Immortal did not want them and instead wanted this sickly sha xing (malicious star). Who could accept that?
Jiang Luoyue grabbed the youth’s arm, just about to leave, but the boys behind her followed.
Jiang Luoyue drew her sword, turned, and the blade flashed.
The cold gleam of the sword dazzled the boys’ eyes, and they retreated backward.
“Everyone, please stop,” Jiang Luoyue said coldly. “I don’t know if he is a solitary star, but I only see that he is bone-thin from being bullied, yet he did not resist.”
“If he truly is a Heavenly Doom Solitary Star, why hasn’t he killed you all yet?”
Leaving this final remark, Jiang Luoyue led the youth away.
“Congratulations, Host, mission complete.”
“Reward received: fifty taels of silver, five protective talismans, and ten nutritional pills.”
“Why is the amount so small?” Jiang Luoyue could not help but complain about how meager the reward was.
“Host, twenty taels are enough for an ordinary farming family to live on for a year. The nutritional pills can keep a person from feeling hungry for two days. They are enough for the young boy to survive for twenty days,” the System explained timidly.
“This was a simple mission, and there will be many more missions in the future,” the System added.
“Fine,” Jiang Luoyue ended her conversation with the System and looked at the youth beside her.
“How old are you? Do you want to follow me? If not, you can find your own path,” Jiang Luoyue said, her tone neither cold nor particularly warm.
“Host, why are you letting the meal right at your mouth run away!” the System cried out in dissatisfaction.
Jiang Luoyue told the System to take it easy.
This System doesn’t seem very bright, Jiang Luoyue thought.
“Why did you save me?” The youth did not answer Jiang Luoyue’s question, but asked her one instead.
He was like a little wolf licking its wounds—injured and young, but due to his past experiences, he always bared his teeth, showing hostility toward outsiders.
“No particular reason. I was passing by, saw you were pitiful, and so I saved you,” Jiang Luoyue replied indifferently.
“Pitiful me, huh…” the youth murmured softly.
“I am lonely traveling by myself, and I lack a guard who can serve me,” Jiang Luoyue said. “Do you want to cultivate?”
“…Yes,” the youth immediately dropped his hostility.
Regardless of how this excessively beautiful woman wanted to use him, she had indeed saved him.
“My name is Jiang Luoyue. What is yours?” Jiang Luoyue stopped, looked at the youth who was following a step behind her, and reached up to pat his head.
The youth visibly froze for a moment. That gentle gesture on his head made his heart feel a hint of warmth, but before he could fully savor it, Jiang Luoyue withdrew her hand.
The reluctance in the youth’s eyes was fleeting.
“I am seventeen this year. My mother had a difficult labor, and my father was the village hunter. He went into the mountains with friends and suffered a disaster there. Afterwards, I was taken in by my father’s hunter friends and given the name ‘Da Shi’ (Big Stone),” the youth said.
“My hunter ‘father’ treated me as his own, but he passed away from illness when I was seven…”
“You must have some martial skills on you,” Jiang Luoyue pinched the young boy’s arm. He did have some muscle definition.
The youth nodded bashfully.
“They bullied you, so why didn’t you fight back?” Jiang Luoyue asked. He clearly acts like a wolf, so why didn’t he bite?
“My hunter ‘father’ was very busy. When he was away, the old grandmothers and women in the village looked after me a lot. Later, I became a sha xing (malicious star) that everyone reviled, but remembering their past kindness, I didn’t want to…”
“You didn’t want to attack their children, right?” Jiang Luoyue nodded. This youth was indeed a grateful person.
The boy was thin, but not short. Though only fifteen, he was almost as tall as Jiang Luoyue despite his malnourished appearance.
“In exchange, I will also tell you my background. If you still want to follow me after hearing it, then we will be brother and sister from now on.”
As Jiang Luoyue finished speaking, the youth raised his head to meet her gaze and listened attentively.
The boy’s expression shifted from shock to unbearable sorrow, and then to determination. He had not expected this beautiful Older Sister to be even more tragic than himself.
“I am willing to follow… Older Sister,” the youth called out the title, feeling a little shy.
“My name is Jiang Luoyue. Let’s call you Jiang Luoxing (Falling Star). We can change it again if you don’t like it,” Jiang Luoyue said. She spoke in a negotiating tone.
The youth nodded, then suddenly knelt down. “Luoxing thanks Older Sister for taking me in.”
Jiang Luoyue patted his head. “Get up quickly. You must be hungry. Let’s go to the town and have a meal.”
The warmth of her palm made the youth’s ears turn red.
