The Host Has Fallen for the Second Female Lead Again - Chapter 53
Xiao Ye turned his head to look at Ji Mingxiao. “My brother wasn’t a good person, but for the development of our planet, he agreed to cooperate with the Alliance. He was the first to surrender.”
“But after signing the treaty, the Alliance went back on its word.”
“They said they wouldn’t plunder our resources, yet, hehe, they used my brother’s name to start large-scale mining, completely ignoring the ecological environment.”
Xiao Ye’s eyes narrowed. “My brother was furious and wanted to resist, but the Alliance bribed the people around him. The more spies my brother dealt with, the more bad rumors about him spread.”
“Then, Xu Shu found an opportunity to kill my brother. They thought the Alliance would give them benefits, but the Alliance took all the resources, ruined the place, and left, unilaterally tearing up the original contract.”
“No benefits at all!” Xiao Ye’s emotions were a bit agitated.
Ji Mingxiao frowned, looking at Xiao Ye. “You’re talking about the Alliance?”
“You don’t believe me? Right, you’ve all been brainwashed by the Alliance.”
“That’s not the issue. The Alliance has been funding many backward planets for the past hundred years, not afraid of spending money. And those famous resource planets only gained their current reputation after joining the Alliance. The Alliance has no reason to target your planet specifically.” Ji Mingxiao tapped the table. “Don’t you find that strange?”
Xiao Ye looked at Ji Mingxiao with cold eyes. “Heh, how could I be mistaken? The person who came was a high-ranking general from your Alliance.”
“Who?”
“Zhao Jie.”
“Zhao Jie?” Ji Mingxiao sneered. “The Zhao family…”
Ji Mingxiao glanced at Xue Qingran on the floor. “Do you know how Xue Qingran and I fell out?”
“Hmm?”
“The Zhao family and my Lin family are political rivals. She helped someone from the Zhao family give me a drug that damages mental power.” Ji Mingxiao tapped the table. “The Zhao family must have a problem. Their behavior is too bizarre. Wait for me to go back and investigate. My advice is not to cooperate with those small nations against the Alliance for now.”
“If you’re going to be an enemy, at least wait until the truth is clear.” Ji Mingxiao looked at Xiao Ye. “Do you have evidence for what Zhao Jie did?”
Xiao Ye laughed. “Sorry, we’ve already been enemies for a long time.”
“Don’t you want to find out the truth?” Ji Mingxiao looked at him. “With your cooperation with the Ayi Nation, you must be in a weak position. You’re just a sacrificial lamb they’ve sent out.”
Xiao Ye stared at Ji Mingxiao. “Are you trying to trick me into talking?”
“This isn’t a trick. You can cooperate with the Ayi Nation, and you can also cooperate with me.” Ji Mingxiao lowered her voice. “But I have no connection to the Alliance.”
Xiao Ye scoffed. “I’ve killed many of your classmates.”
“If the Zhao family is colluding with the enemy and harming the Alliance’s reputation, then to uncover the truth, cooperating with you is not a problem. Besides, we’ve already cooperated once.” Ji Mingxiao looked at Xiao Ye. “You can approach this from two directions. There’s no downside for you.”
“If your issue really is with the Alliance, you can continue cooperating with the Ayi Nation, but that’s like a moth flying into a flame. If it’s not related, it’s better to ally with the Alliance. The Alliance will give you more.”
Xiao Ye narrowed his eyes. “Tsk, you still want to trick me into talking.”
“You’re not willing to tell me about the Ayi Nation, but you should at least tell me about the Alliance’s Zhao family, right?” Ji Mingxiao stared into his eyes, pressing her left hand on the table and leaning forward.
“Fine. I love watching you guys fight amongst yourselves.”
When Ji Mingxiao left the office, she had a data file on her personal comm-link. She also sent a copy to several of her Alliance comm-links and backed up another copy on a chip, which she hid in her clothes.
Xiao Ye watched Ji Mingxiao’s series of actions and raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by her experience.
When they returned to the big house, everyone was already chatting loudly. They fell silent for a few seconds when they saw Ji Mingxiao and Xiao Ye return.
“I’ve already contacted the Alliance. We should be able to go back in a few days,” Ji Mingxiao said.
Cheers instantly erupted.
Xiao Ye looked around. “Where’s that girl?”
“I’m not telling you.”
Xiao Ye stared at Ji Mingxiao.
“She’s probably defusing bombs,” Ji Mingxiao said, rubbing her neck. “What are you scared of?”
Ji Mingxiao waved her hand and went to find her teacher, Jiang You.
“Teacher.”
“You did a beautiful job.” Jiang You patted Ji Mingxiao’s shoulder.
The other person had many injuries on their body.
Ji Mingxiao pursed her lips and looked away. “I still came too late.”
“You’ve done well enough.” Jiang You looked around. “We all know this wasn’t easy.”
Many people were looking at Ji Mingxiao.
Most teenagers are arrogant. Many are unwilling to lose face, but for Ji Mingxiao, what is face? Staying alive is what’s important.
When they truly survive, they will be grateful.
That night, Ji Mingxiao went back to the mecha to sleep.
Xi Ruan glanced at her and complained casually, “My points have really plummeted in this world.”
“I’ll get you some points back when we go home.” Ji Mingxiao sat down next to Xi Ruan.
“No need for that,” Xi Ruan shook her head. “I’m definitely richer than you. Did you handle things?”
Ji Mingxiao handed her comm-link to Xi Ruan. “Take a look.”
Xi Ruan scanned it and was a bit shocked.
“What are you going to do? The Zhao family is too audacious.”
“I’ll find the Zhao family’s political rivals. I’m very curious if the principal knows about this.” The look in the principal’s eyes when he saw her location still bothered her.
Although Xiao Ye said they often fight against the Alliance, she hadn’t heard any news about it.
This place is small, but there shouldn’t be a complete lack of news. Or maybe there was news, and the Zhao family’s people blocked it.
The Zhao family’s influence is simply too great.
Xi Ruan kept watching Ji Mingxiao. Although the other person wasn’t speaking, she knew that she must be brainstorming.
“What’s wrong?” Ji Mingxiao had been waiting for Xi Ruan to look away, but it seemed she had no intention of doing so.
Xi Ruan was stunned for a moment. “Nothing. I’m just wondering why you have so many strange ideas. The difference between people’s minds is really big.”
“If you use your brain more, you’ll be just like me.” Ji Mingxiao reached out and ruffled Xi Ruan’s hair. “But constantly thinking about this and that is exhausting. It’s more comfortable to live a little more confused.”
Ji Mingxiao yawned. “Let’s go to sleep.”
“Okay.”
The next day, Ji Mingxiao and Xi Ruan got out of the mecha together.
Xiao Ye stared at Xi Ruan for a while, scaring her into hiding behind Ji Mingxiao.
“Don’t scare her,” Ji Mingxiao said, frowning.
Xiao Ye laughed. “Do I look that scary? She’s even hiding from me.”
Ji Mingxiao didn’t speak, just looked at him.
“Miss Lin, your weakness is a bit too obvious,” Xiao Ye clicked his tongue.
Ji Mingxiao narrowed her eyes.
The Alliance arrived quickly. They reached at noon, which also startled Xu Shu and the others. For the people here, the Alliance’s large spaceships are a psychological trauma. Many people came.
Ji Mingxiao helped everyone get on the spaceship, then took the paper that Xiao Ye had prepared beforehand and quickly drew a diagram. Everyone was waiting for her, and no one rushed her.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure. But don’t believe everything. Who knows if they’re setting a trap for me.”
Xiao Ye smirked.
Ji Mingxiao turned and returned to the spaceship.
Xi Ruan saw Ji Mingxiao wave at her.
“What’s wrong?”
“The person leading the team is from the Zhao family,” Xi Ruan whispered.
“Okay,” Ji Mingxiao’s face was calm. She just opened her comm-link and quickly and completely deleted the stored evidence.
“What are you doing?”
“Tsk, my intuition tells me something might happen later.” Ji Mingxiao finished clearing it and started watching a TV show.
A few people next to her gathered around.
Ten minutes later, someone walked up to Ji Mingxiao. “Miss Lin, the Major General has something he wants to ask you.”
Ji Mingxiao got up and handed her comm-link to Xi Ruan.
“Please bring your comm-link?”
“Why?” Ji Mingxiao looked at the person.
They didn’t speak.
Ji Mingxiao smirked. “If it’s not necessary, then I’ll leave it with her to watch TV.”
“The Major General said so. I don’t know why.”
Xi Ruan looked at Ji Mingxiao.
Ji Mingxiao smirked and took her comm-link, following the person.
The person leading the team was a familiar face.
Zhao Yuan, Zhao Mo’s father.
“Major General Zhao.” Ji Mingxiao narrowed her eyes at Zhao Yuan. “You’re not planning to cause trouble for me here, are you?”
“According to the investigation, you and Xiao Ye were alone for a long time. I’m very curious what you talked about,” Zhao Yuan said, looking at Ji Mingxiao.
“What could we talk about? Just contacting the Alliance and how to deal with Xue Qingran.” Ji Mingxiao left Xue Qingran there to prevent her from revealing her conversation with Xiao Ye. She didn’t care what Xiao Ye did, as long as he kept her alive.
When she boarded the spaceship, she received a notification that Xue Qingran was in critical condition.
Zhao Yuan stared into Ji Mingxiao’s eyes. “Is that all?”
“What do you mean by that?” Ji Mingxiao’s smile disappeared. “You suspect me?”
“It can’t be helped. Please hand over your comm-link for us to inspect.”
Ji Mingxiao scoffed. “Why? Since when was this a rule? I worked so hard to mediate between both sides and brought people out, and now you suspect I’m colluding with them?”
“It’s just a simple check. If there’s nothing, the item will be returned to you.” Zhao Yuan extended his hand.
“This is an insult to my character!” Ji Mingxiao looked at Zhao Yuan with cold eyes, turned with her comm-link, and walked out.
Someone stepped forward to block her, but Ji Mingxiao pushed through forcefully. Her skill level was higher than the people blocking the door. She ran out, and a group of people immediately chased after her, but they still couldn’t stop Ji Mingxiao.
“Is anyone here to judge this!” Ji Mingxiao, with a furious expression, barged into the passenger cabin where the students were and started yelling loudly. “Teacher, does the Alliance have a rule that you must be suspected after negotiating with the enemy? And have my comm-link checked without a warrant? This is an insult to my character! And an insult to the Lin family!”
Jiang You frowned. “There is no such rule. If a check is necessary, it should be done after we return and the Alliance military court makes a judgment.”
A group of people looked at Zhao Yuan.
“So, Major General Zhao, what do you want to do? Do you want to take revenge for your son? Because Zhao Mo tried to kill me, and I refused to settle?” Ji Mingxiao looked at the other person.
The eyes of most people changed, after all, Ji Mingxiao’s incident had caused a huge stir before.
Ji Mingxiao wanted to drag all the students into this. The more people knew about Zhao Yuan’s actions, the safer she would be.
“What is your purpose?” Ji Mingxiao stared at Zhao Yuan.
