The Host Has Fallen for the Second Female Lead Again - Chapter 13
Ji Mingxiao rented out the entire amusement park for a day. Anyone with a ticket could enter early, so most of the company’s employees ran off to play.
She already had Xi Ruan’s phone number. The day she got it was in the company’s underground parking lot, where Xi Ruan came to sign a contract.
When Xi Ruan saw Ji Mingxiao, she immediately turned to run, but was still caught.
“Give me your contact info.”
“I don’t think that’s necessary.”
“I think it is,” Ji Mingxiao said, pulling out her phone and looking at Xi Ruan. “I won’t harass you.”
“I think you’re already harassing me.”
Ji Mingxiao just looked at Xi Ruan without saying a word, and held out her QR code.
In the end, Xi Ruan reluctantly scanned it.
After that, Ji Mingxiao didn’t contact Xi Ruan, mainly because she was afraid the girl would just block her.
However, on the morning of the annual party, she couldn’t help but send a message.
[Fu Youzheng: When are you going to the amusement park?]
[Xi Ruan: I want to be absent.]
The other person replied quickly.
[Xi Ruan: Why run around outside in the middle of winter? Isn’t it better to stay home wrapped in a blanket, eating potato chips and watching shows?]
[Fu Youzheng: Too bad you can’t be absent.]
[Xi Ruan: …]
[Xi Ruan: Then I’ll just go to the annual party in the evening.]
[Fu Youzheng: Oh.]
It would be hard to catch her then.
A miscalculation.
Ji Mingxiao remembered that Ruan Shaojia used to love amusement parks.
[Fu Youzheng: Don’t you like amusement parks?]
Xi Ruan was stunned when she saw the question.
[Xi Ruan: I do, but I hate going out in the cold even more.]
[Fu Youzheng: Getting old?]
[Xi Ruan: The vast majority of otaku feel offended!!!]
Ji Mingxiao laughed, tidied up, and went to the amusement park.
Although Fu Youzheng was almost 30, her skin was still good and she took care of it. Dressed up with a little makeup, she was no different from a girl in her 20s. She had deliberately dressed in a youthful and vibrant style today, and during the security check, the staff almost didn’t recognize her.
After Ji Mingxiao went in, she waited at the rest area by the main entrance for a while. Not long after, she saw Xi Ruan walk in.
She knew it.
This person’s tricks for tricking her were no different from when she was a child.
She got up and walked towards Xi Ruan.
“Host, aren’t you afraid of being seen?”
“Tsk.” Ji Mingxiao paused her steps, lowered her head, and sent a message to Xi Ruan.
[Fu Youzheng: I see you.]
Not far away, Xi Ruan looked down at her phone, then looked around, and when she saw Ji Mingxiao, the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.
[Fu Youzheng: Didn’t you say you’d come in the evening? Do you hate me that much?]
[Xi Ruan: Don’t overthink it, I just don’t want to get too involved with you.]
[Fu Youzheng: Want to ride the roller coaster?]
Ruan Shaojia, although very timid, loved thrilling rides, especially haunted houses, even though she’d keep her eyes closed the whole time she was in one.
[Xi Ruan: Fine, but stay away from me.]
Ji Mingxiao felt a bit helpless.
The two of them walked towards the roller coaster.
Even though 10,000 tickets were given out, plus the employees, the park wasn’t crowded for an amusement park of this size.
There were even fewer people at the roller coaster.
Ji Mingxiao and Xi Ruan happened to get on the very back of the roller coaster. There were only two people in their row, and being at the back was a good spot.
After getting on, Xi Ruan gave Ji Mingxiao another look of disdain.
The roller coaster slowly moved forward, beginning its climb. Ji Mingxiao tilted her head to look at Xi Ruan. Xi Ruan’s expression was strained, her face slightly pale, and when they reached the top, she completely closed her eyes.
“It’s beautiful. Don’t you want to open your eyes and see?”
Xi Ruan slapped Ji Mingxiao’s arm, and after she did, she immediately gripped the handrail tightly, biting her lip.
The roller coaster plunged.
Ji Mingxiao looked at Xi Ruan’s distorted expression and couldn’t help but laugh.
The winter wind was too cold, stinging Ji Mingxiao’s face.
“Xi Ruan, scream. What are you holding it in for?”
“I won’t!” Xi Ruan shouted back at Ji Mingxiao.
By the time they reached the end, Xi Ruan was pretty much done for, her expression dazed. Ji Mingxiao patted her arm.
“Don’t touch me. My legs are weak.”
“Want to ride again?” Ji Mingxiao’s voice was filled with laughter.
Xi Ruan felt herself instantly recover, and she slowly moved out of the roller coaster, went to the railing, and just stood there, motionless.
Ji Mingxiao went to the locker, got her things, and put on a hat and a scarf.
“Do you want to put your hat on yourself or should I help you?”
“Why are you always following me?”
Ji Mingxiao was silent for a few seconds, then put the hat on her head with a somewhat rough motion.
System A breathed a sigh of relief. If Ji Mingxiao had said anything about her true identity, she would have been penalized for a violation.
Xi Ruan twitched her lips.
“I feel like it,” Ji Mingxiao said grumpily. “The pendulum ride, the tornado, the drop tower, the log flume… want to play?”
Xi Ruan was silent for a few seconds, then tilted her head to look at Ji Mingxiao: “What’s the grudge? What’s the hatred? I’m already like this.”
“Don’t want to play?”
“I do.”
“Then let’s go.”
In the end, Xi Ruan chose the slightly gentler pirate ship.
No one recognized Ji Mingxiao on the way there. After all, her public appearances were rare, and in the winter everyone was bundled up, making it hard to tell who was who.
For lunch, the two found a random corner and ate instant noodles. In the afternoon, the first thing Ji Mingxiao did was take Xi Ruan into a haunted house.
“Don’t scare me,” Xi Ruan insisted to Ji Mingxiao several times as they went in.
“Okay.”
They were in a group of six, and Ji Mingxiao and Xi Ruan were still the last two. Ji Mingxiao followed behind Xi Ruan, and from her shuffling steps, it was clear she was walking with her eyes closed.
“Grandma, let me help you,” Ji Mingxiao said, walking up to Xi Ruan and grabbing her arm.
Xi Ruan shivered in fright, but at least she didn’t refuse, although her mouth was still stubborn: “You’re the grandma.”
“Okay, granddaughter.”
Xi Ruan: …
System A: …
The four people in front of them walked quickly, and Ji Mingxiao and Xi Ruan were soon left behind on their own.
“These are all controlled by machines, so there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Xi Ruan didn’t say a word.
“Open your eyes and look. It’s really not scary.”
Xi Ruan secretly opened a tiny slit, just in time to see a skeleton at the end of the corridor, which made her jump and scream. She also gave Ji Mingxiao two hard slaps: “You scared me again!”
Ji Mingxiao: …
Sure enough, old habits die hard.
Ji Mingxiao guessed her arm was probably already swollen.
The two of them spent twenty minutes wandering around the haunted house before they got out. The place was really big, even though Ji Mingxiao thought it wasn’t scary at all.
After they got out, Xi Ruan stood in the wind for five minutes to recover. “Let’s go, let’s play the pendulum ride.”
“Not bad,” Ji Mingxiao raised an eyebrow. “I thought you were going to be discouraged after that.”
“It’s free, so the more we play, the more we earn.”
Ji Mingxiao: …
“Do you want me to get you an annual pass?”
“No thanks,” Xi Ruan shook her head. “I don’t plan on coming every day.”
Tang Can was playing with the secretary’s office staff, and from a distance, she recognized Ji Mingxiao’s back. Yes, as a loyal fan of Fu Youzheng, no matter how Ji Mingxiao dressed up, she couldn’t escape her eyes.
Although she didn’t know who the person walking next to the CEO was, she knew that her CEO would never do something like cheat.
After some thought, Tang Can led the others in another direction. After all, judging by the CEO’s outfit today, she obviously didn’t want to be recognized.
