- The Honest Man Was Targeted by His Ex-Boyfriend's Alpha Brother
- Chapter 15 - Soothing, Are You Still a Virgin?
Every rut season over the past several years, Hua Yunlian had relied on suppressants to get through. This had led to a certain level of drug resistance, making standard suppressants less effective. The duration of their effect grew shorter, and his recovery speed became increasingly sluggish.
Many beautiful Omegas had proactively tried to throw themselves at him, using every possible method to release seductive pheromones to tempt him. However, Hua Yunlian was born with the temperament of a pampered young master. He was demanding toward himself and even more so toward others. He expected people to guess exactly what he was thinking with every breath he took.
Simply by looking at an Omega’s shy, blushing face, he would immediately imagine their terrified expression upon seeing his beast form. They would undoubtedly flee in a pathetic, terrified mess. All their claims of liking or loving him were entirely false.
Hua Yunlian held no expectations for anyone, with the sole exception of Chen Wang. For him, he harbored far too many expectations.
Currently, his entire body felt as if it were being slow-cooked in a vat of poison. The agony was bone-deep and soul-eroding, with no outlet for relief. In a daze, he heard Chen Wang’s voice calling him “Brother.”
“Chen Wang? Brother?” His amber eyes brightened slightly, shimmering like a high-proof artisanal cocktail.
He truly could not believe it. The usually stubborn Chen Wang had actually come to find him voluntarily. This indicated that Chen Wang had noticed his discomfort even earlier than Hua Yunlian had predicted. Did he care about him that much?
A surge of intense joy made Hua Yunlian’s emotions even more volatile. He called out the man’s name several more times in a hoarse voice.
At this moment, Chen Wang’s handsome face was flushed with embarrassment as he stared at the underwear in Hua Yunlian’s hand. His precious backpack was also being pinned down by Hua Yunlian’s weight.
“Are you even listening to me? Why do you keep calling my name?” Chen Wang snapped. He took two steps forward and reached out to snatch his things back.
Chen Wang was naturally strong, but when he realized Hua Yunlian was actually wrestling him for the items, he used all his strength to pull. Hua Yunlian was dragged toward the foot of the bed but refused to let go.
With a sharp rip, the fabric tore. The underwear split into two pieces, leaving each man with exactly one half. Chen Wang was panting from the exertion. He lifted the pathetic scrap of fabric and stared at it in disbelief. He was so angry he wanted to curse.
An Alpha in heat is different from their usual state. Clinical symptoms include nesting, irritability, high aggression, emotional instability, or extreme clinginess. Fortunately, Hua Yunlian was not attacking people; he was merely staring at Chen Wang with a silly, lingering smile while repeating his name. The situation was not the worst it could be.
Chen Wang found a stray item on the floor that had fallen from his backpack: a small, standard-issue medicine pouch. It was a professional habit from his time as a doctor to carry a palm-sized bag filled with emergency supplies.
Hua Yunlian loved the scent on Chen Wang. It was the smell of fresh laundry detergent mixed with the warm, dry aroma of sunlight. He felt as if he were drunk. Through his blurred consciousness, he heard Chen Wang’s voice suddenly soften.
“Hua Yunlian, stop rolling around. Lie down properly and be good.”
Since they had grown up, the other man had never spoken to him in such a tone. Hua Yunlian stiffened slightly. A certain part of him that was already nearing a breaking point became even more swollen and unbearable. His breathing grew ragged. He intentionally remained still, and as expected, Chen Wang spoke again.
“Listen to me. Lie down. I am going to help you, and it will feel better soon.”
Hua Yunlian narrowed his eyes and rolled over. Had this person finally realized his role as a kept man? Did he finally know he should proactively serve him?
Aside from his primal instincts for biological reproduction, his other five senses were dulled. Hua Yunlian could only vaguely see a lean, tall figure approaching him. With a thin waist, long legs, and an aura of cold, ascetic detachment, Chen Wang looked like a cold weapon. Hua Yunlian suddenly wondered if Chen Wang even knew what to do. He decided he should be the one to take the lead.
The scent of Damascus rose surged, battering Chen Wang’s nerves. The man leaning against the headboard, his eyes bloodshot, suddenly lunged forward and hooked his arm around Chen Wang’s waist. Like a beast that had been lurking in wait, he decided to strike. Chen Wang lost his balance and fell into his embrace.
At that exact moment, a needle of suppressant was plunged into Hua Yunlian’s gland. The medication was pushed in rapidly.
Hua Yunlian let out a muffled groan of disbelief. “You!”
Five minutes later, Young Master Hua sat on a camping chair with his long legs crossed, a cold expression on his face. A chilling aura radiated from him, keeping everyone within a three-meter radius at bay. The suppressant had taken effect, and he was now completely devoid of desire.
Not far away, the sounds of laughter and chatter rose from the group preparing the evening barbeque. He felt he had given Chen Wang too much face lately. When he actually needed to be serviced, Chen Wang had dared to use a suppressant on him.
Hua Yunlian shot an unpleasant glance toward him, his gaze sharp as a knife. But Chen Wang did not seem to care whether he was angry or not. His aura remained faint and cool, yet he managed to mingle effortlessly with the people around him.
Hua Yunlian was starting to grasp Chen Wang’s way of handling things. This man did not need much emotion; he only needed to remain calm and decent in front of outsiders.
A fat fish was slammed onto a wooden cutting board. Chen Wang raised his knife, and the sound of the descaling tool followed as he cleaned the fish. With a quick flick of his wrist, he gutted it, and in no time, the fish was perfectly cleaned.
“Wow, as expected of a doctor,” a staff member from the Hua Group’s executive office praised. “Cutting fish is as precise as performing surgery!”
Chen Wang smiled. “When you put it that way, it sounds a bit creepy.”
He briskly began marinating the fish, mixing various sauces and side dishes evenly. After washing his hands, he went over to help with the skewers. He could handle several tasks at once without being overwhelmed. It was clear he had been doing manual labor since he was a child.
Hua Yunlian noticed one of his employees, a man of considerable age, clumsily throwing a whole bunch of enoki mushrooms into the water to rinse them. He frowned in disgust. Chen Wang noticed this and immediately took over.
“Give it to me.”
His pale, slender hands showed clear blue veins as they dipped into the cold water. He patiently cut off the roots and used his long fingers to gently separate and wash the mushrooms. The employee scratched his head and laughed sheepishly.
“Sorry about that. I never do chores at home. Dr. Chen is so efficient, just like my mother.”
Hua Yunlian let out a cold, indifferent sneer. “Shameless creature.”
His gaze landed on the profile of Chen Wang’s face, tracing his forehead, the bridge of his nose, and eventually lingering on his lips. His gaze felt like a physical touch, caressing the man thoroughly. In his heart, he silently repeated that word: Mother.
“President Hua, are you hungry?” Mantuojia suddenly appeared with a small stool and sat beside him, eagerly offering a plate of small cakes. “Try this. I personally—”
Hua Yunlian sneered. “Made it?”
Mantuojia was not so unintelligent as to lie about buffet desserts. He muttered, “Plated it.”
He followed Hua Yunlian’s gaze and saw the busy Chen Wang. His heart immediately filled with annoyance. “He sure likes to show off. It is not like this is a competition to be a little house-chef. If he is so capable, why did he not become a cook instead of a doctor? I bet his cooking tastes terrible. He is just doing it to grab attention. He even stole your clothes today, President Hua!”
Hua Yunlian remained noncommittal, offering no defense for Chen Wang. Seeing an opportunity, Mantuojia doubled down. “He is just a show-off driven by vanity.”
Before he could finish, the aroma of grilled fish wafted over. Mantuojia unexpectedly began adjusting his appearance. Chen Wang arrived carrying two plates of grilled fish.
“I put poison in it. Who dares to eat?”
Mantuojia raised his hand. “I do! I do!”
Hua Yunlian did not have the habit of eating at night and looked at the food with disdain. When he lacked expression, his handsome, mixed-race face looked somewhat gloomy, strikingly similar to his leopard form’s grumpy expression.
“I am not eating,” he said.
Chen Wang stared at him for a moment. For no reason, he recalled his time working part-time at the slum zoo. He had no interest in coaxing a spoiled child. He intended to leave but added, “You should eat a little.”
As Mantuojia stuffed his face while claiming the food tasted bad, Hua Yunlian reluctantly picked up his chopsticks. Mantuojia began ranting that Chen Wang must have cheated to catch so many fish. Hua Yunlian fastidiously picked up a piece and put it in his mouth.
“He caught these himself?”
Mantuojia was about to ask if he could have Hua Yunlian’s leftovers when his face suddenly changed. He began pounding his chest and stomping his feet. The Omega’s face turned bright red as he began to cough violently.
Someone noticed the commotion and screamed in panic, “Oh no! He has a fish bone stuck in his throat! Get him to the hospital!”
Chen Wang immediately dropped the food and ran over.
“He is stuck,” Hua Yunlian said calmly, taking another bite of fish as if he were dining in a five-star restaurant. “It would be fine if he choked to death. He gave you a hard time last time anyway.”
Mantuojia’s throat was his life, and he had even taken out insurance for it. The thought of his singing career being ruined made him wail, but the more he swallowed, the more it hurt. As he made a scene, Hua Yunlian’s temper flared. He darkened his face ruthlessly.
“What are you crying for? Get out of here.”
“Do not be noisy,” Chen Wang said calmly, grabbing Mantuojia’s chin. “Open your mouth. Wider.”
Faced with such a minor issue, Chen Wang’s attitude was relaxed but not dismissive. He exuded a sense of security. The onlookers, including Mantuojia himself, were quickly soothed. The fish bone was easily removed.
Mantuojia stared at him in a daze, unsure how to react to his romantic rival. After a long moment, he let out a tearful whimper. “Thank you.”
Since that annoyance’s throat was not ruined, Hua Yunlian felt a wave of frustration and stifled anger for some reason. Seeing Chen Wang take care of everyone so thoroughly made him feel even more resentful.
As the meal ended and people dispersed, several managers respectfully invited Hua Yunlian to the hot springs. As expected, he gave them a cold rejection. Chen Wang was responsible for cleaning up some of the trash. He was also tired by now. He quickly filled two small buckets, intending to visit the hot springs himself before going to sleep.
A foot was suddenly placed gently on the edge of the trash can. With a slight movement, all the freshly organized trash spilled out. Chen Wang frowned and looked up, meeting Hua Yunlian’s displeased face.
“What are you doing now?”
“The suppressant is about to wear off,” he said.
Chen Wang said helplessly, “I will give you another shot later.”
“Brother, have you misunderstood something?” Hua Yunlian approached him, his tall, sturdy body looming over him. His pheromones began to fluctuate again. His condescending manner was quite intimidating. “You are my plaything, a tool for my pleasure, not a family doctor.”
Chen Wang opened his mouth but could not find the words to argue back. There were colleagues nearby. Even if they could not tell he was arguing with Hua Yunlian from their angle, it would inevitably arouse suspicion if they stayed like this for too long.
Chen Wang’s expression was somewhat strained. “I will finish cleaning up and we can talk back at the house.”
His lean jaw was suddenly grabbed, forcing him to lift his face and look directly into those amber eyes that were suppressing a deep desire.
“Or are you still a virgin?”
