- Chapter 28 - Why Would the Male Sovereign Help Me?
Ultimately, Cen Li still appeared at Asher’s door.
“He is the mission target, after all. We still need to harvest points from him in the future, so it helps to assist him now. Don’t you think so, System?”
“Yes, Host,” the system replied after a moment of hesitation. “This demonstrates that you possess a very professional spirit. Since Asher is currently semi-conscious, you do not need to worry about your actions being inconsistent with the original soul’s behavior.”
Having spent so much time with Cen Li, the system had gained a general understanding of him. As long as you stroked his fur the right way, he was quite easy to manage. After this exchange with the system, the slight awkwardness in Cen Li’s heart was smoothed over.
He knocked on Asher’s door, but as expected, he received no response. Cen Li turned the handle and opened the door directly. The room was pitch black. The faint light from the corridor lamp spilled inside, allowing Cen Li to barely make out the female insect curled up in a corner. He fumbled along the wall and switched on a dim lamp, ensuring the bright light would not irritate the female’s eyes.
Asher was curled into a ball like an insecure little beast. He held his arms tightly around himself, creating a closed-off space. Cen Li knelt beside him and tilted his chin up. Only then did he see that Asher was as drenched as if he had been fished out of water. Disheveled hair clung to the sides of his face, the corners of his eyes were a deep red, and his breathing was somewhat rapid. His clothing had become wrinkled and messy, clearly grabbed and rubbed many times by his own hands.
Where Cen Li’s fingertips met the skin of Asher’s jaw, he felt sweat, which had become sticky and slippery. Cen Li frowned at the other’s tightly closed eyes. He felt slightly relieved and began to use the basic application of male pheromones he had just learned from the system. Proper skin contact could make the treatment more effective, and naturally, the closer the better.
Cen Li brushed away the hair on Asher’s forehead and pressed his palm against the other’s slightly feverish brow, mobilizing the pheromones in his body. The gentle pheromones seeped into the pores. The semi-conscious Asher felt as though he were wrapped in a warm, comfortable ocean. Every pore in his body expanded, clamoring for more. Asher’s tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
Cen Li sighed inwardly, thinking that releasing pheromones was not that difficult. Seeing Asher’s condition slowly improve, he had the illusion that he was a doctor, and a strange sense of satisfaction rose in his heart.
This lasted until Asher nuzzled against his palm, nearly startling Cen Li into withdrawing his hand. Asher first lightly rubbed against Cen Li’s cool palm, and then his physical instincts drove him to press closer to the source of comfort. Before long, Asher shifted from the corner into Cen Li’s embrace.
Cen Li’s entire body could be described in one word: stiff.
The female insect, with eyes tightly shut, nudged and moved until he suddenly hugged Cen Li, pressing his cheek against Cen Li’s chest. Cen Li had never been this intimate with another male besides his own family members. At this moment, he felt his heart beating very fast. This peculiar sensation made him unable to even turn his neck.
Cen Li’s hand still maintained the movement of transmitting pheromones, feeling as though he had become Asher’s support pillar. Every part of his body felt awkward and uncomfortable. After a while, Cen Li finally decided to push the female away. He pushed Asher’s head to the other side.
Immediately, the female beneath him murmured, “Female father.”
The female’s voice was very soft. Cen Li leaned his ear closer and only heard it clearly the second time. Was Asher so delirious and confused that he mistook him for his female father?
The data provided by the system showed that Asher’s family was harmonious. Among the group of tyrannical and heartless males, his male father was considered a relatively good one. Although he had many female attendants, he did not have those cruel or foul hobbies. His marriage with the female father was one of mutual respect. Asher had lived smoothly for the first twenty years of his life, and it was only after meeting the original soul that his tragic life began.
Cen Li remembered that Asher also had an older brother who married a commoner male like himself, but he did not know the specific details. The plot only mentioned these insignificant characters in a few brief sentences.
“Female father,” Asher called out again, pulling Cen Li’s wandering thoughts back.
He no longer rejected Asher’s movements, allowing the female to lean against him. The craving for pheromones from a female in heat was far beyond Cen Li’s expectations. The flush on Asher’s face gradually faded. He was no longer trying to shrink into a ball as he had at the beginning, and his bent legs stretched out slightly.
Seeing this, Cen Li withdrew his pheromones. However, the female pressed closer in the next second, as if dissatisfied. Cen Li felt helpless. The unconscious female had lost his usual cautiousness, appearing somewhat greedy at this moment.
But it was already very late, and Cen Li did not plan to indulge him further. Asher could wake up at any moment. If he discovered that his nominal Male Sovereign had another side, it would likely be detrimental to Cen Li’s subsequent collection of Humiliation Value.
As he was about to leave, Cen Li looked back at the female leaning in the corner. He hesitated for a second before turning back. Maintaining a spirit of humanitarianism, he carried the female to the bed and pulled over the quilt to cover him.
Having finished all this, Cen Li prepared to go. Suddenly, his wrist was grabbed. Turning his head, he met Asher’s open eyes. A bit of light flickered in the darkness. Cen Li’s heart skipped a beat. For some reason, he felt a sense of guilt.
But quickly, Asher’s eyes closed again. Everything that just happened seemed to be a hallucination. He heard Asher softly murmur, “Female father.”
Upon hearing this, Cen Li instantly felt relieved. It seemed Asher was still in an unconscious state. Silence returned to the room. However, the female insect lying on the bed with eyes closed opened them the instant the door was shut. In the depths of his clear eyes, there was no trace of the confusion he had just feigned.
