- The Heroic Master Is Tough-Talking but Soft-Hearted: The Aloof Major General Has Fallen
- Chapter 11 - If It Can Make You Calm Down
The news that the Major General, known as the Light of the Empire, had caused his Master to fall unconscious for a day and a night had already spread throughout the military headquarters.
On the way, many military females secretly stole glances at Asher, their faces invariably revealing looks of surprise. Asher frowned slightly, but his pace remained steady and his back stayed as straight as ever.
He guessed everyone was shocked that a Major General, who should have been receiving punishment in the Disciplinary Center, would suddenly show up for work at the military headquarters completely unscathed.
Yero was Asher’s adjutant. Upon seeing Asher, he displayed the same expression as the others, though his face also carried a hint of hesitation.
“Major General, why did you come to the military headquarters today?”
Asher answered truthfully, “My Master waived my punishment, so naturally, I came to perform my duties today.”
Hearing this, Yero’s eyes widened slightly as he raised his voice. “But, have you not been suspended?”
What?!
Asher snapped his gaze toward Yero. He was suspended? When did this happen?
The fingers hanging at Asher’s side curled instinctively as chaotic thoughts flooded his mind. His eyes betrayed a sense of confusion and a faint, undetectable trace of fear.
Yero observed Asher’s expression and sighed inwardly, sensing something was wrong. “You did not know about this?”
Although Yero was surprised that Asher’s Master had personally waived the punishment, he soon seemed to realize something, and his gaze turned indignant.
The Major General’s Master must have ill intentions! Waiving the punishment was likely just a ploy to punish the Major General more severely in person! Otherwise, why would he have the Major General suspended?
Asher understood now. Those surprised looks he encountered on the way were not out of shock regarding his waived punishment. Instead, they were looks of confusion because he had been suspended yet still appeared at the military headquarters.
Asher stood frozen in place, his hands unconsciously clenching into fists. His mind was a mess, and various unpleasant thoughts surfaced, making him wonder what was truly going on.
Could his Master be the one behind his suspension from the military? Asher could only think of this possibility. If it was not the male, then who else could it be?
But everything had seemed fine the day before, and his Master had not expressed any desire to stop him from serving in the military. Asher’s brows knit tightly together and his facial muscles tensed as if all the strength had been drained from his body.
How could this happen? How could this happen? Had he done something else to upset his Master? Is that why his Master punished him so silently?
Asher stood in the busy hallway, his entire being radiating a sense of wretchedness. Looking at the Major General’s dejected expression, Yero felt a surge of resentment. As expected, all males were the same! They lacked empathy for females and acted purely on their own whims, regardless of the consequences.
Yero’s lips moved, but he did not want to say anything that would further upset the Major General. Instead, he simply offered words of comfort. “Everything will get better, Major General.”
“Perhaps you should think carefully about where you might have offended His Excellency, and then offer a sincere apology?” Yero suggested. “Maybe then, everything will improve.”
After speaking, Yero fell silent for a moment. They both knew in their hearts that a simple apology would not be enough to change a male’s mind. Perhaps the Major General would need to pay a much higher price.
Hearing this, Asher shook his head. No matter how much he racked his brain, he still could not figure out what had gone wrong to make his Master hand down such a severe punishment.
In the courtyard, Cen Li leaned his back against the cushion of his wheelchair, lazily lying there and soaking up the sun. He had also asked 007 to find a few modern television dramas to pass the time.
While the Zerg race had plenty of film and television resources, most were about interstellar combat. They were exciting at first, but after watching too many, they became boring. Cen Li was enjoying his solitary time quite comfortably.
This was true, at least, if he ignored the constant notification pings in his mind about his “Humiliation Value” rising. Curiously, even though he had done nothing for the past few hours, a large windfall of points had come out of nowhere.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Cen Li had already instructed Xi Ya not to disturb him, so the visitor would not be a sub-female. Asher had also left for the military headquarters early.
Cen Li was puzzled. He glanced sideways and was surprised to see the military female who was supposed to be at headquarters.
Asher.
Why did he come back so early today?
Before Cen Li could figure it out, Asher knelt before him without a word. The sound of his knees hitting the ground was dull and resolute, as if he were suppressing intense emotions. The military female kept his head lowered, so Cen Li could not see the turbulent feelings in his eyes.
What was wrong with this insect?
The only thought in Asher’s mind right now was to get his Master to retract the punishment. But he did not know how to do it. Or rather, Asher knew that once his Master made a decision, it was difficult to change. Moreover, he was the insect his Master hated the most.
Asher had no other choice. He did not want to leave the military; he did not want to become a useless insect who stayed home every day just waiting for a male’s favor. This feeling of unwilling resentment was strong and deeply provoked him.
Finally, Asher spoke dully, “Please punish me, Master.”
Cen Li found this nonsensical. Asher’s mood was very off today.
“Oh?” Cen Li asked. “I was not aware that you had committed a mistake.”
Hearing this, a bitter smile touched the corners of Asher’s mouth. Was his Master pretending to be confused? He knew it better than anyone, did he not?
But Asher could not say those words aloud. He hid the complex emotions in his eyes, his beautifully shaped lips pressed into a thin line, and then he began to remove his clothing. After doing so, he knelt there again in a perfectly standard posture.
“Please punish me, Master,” he said. “If it can make you calm down.”
Cen Li’s eyes widened slightly when he saw the female silently unbuttoning his clothes. The female’s subsequent words left Cen Li even more bewildered. What exactly had happened to make Asher actively seek punishment in such a humble manner?
The male remained silent for a long time, and Asher’s heart sank to the bottom. He felt bitter inside. Was this still not enough? Or did his lowly body fail to spark any desire in the male to lash out?
Asher was like a drowning insect, desperately trying to grab onto anything, unwilling to let go of any possible chance at survival. He suddenly remembered that night, and a secret sliver of hope rose in his heart. His Master should still be interested in his body. Otherwise, what happened that night would not have occurred, even though he was pushed away in the end.
Asher lowered his eyes. He had to try. He could not think of any other way.
Asher crawled on his knees toward Cen Li, eventually stopping by the male’s feet. Cen Li did not understand his intention and was about to speak. In the next second, the words were caught in his throat.
Asher slowly placed his hand over the back of Cen Li’s hand. With their skin brushing against each other, he lowered his voice. “Master, please let me serve you.”
Asher deliberately looked up, revealing a flawless face with the golden strands of hair on his forehead falling obediently. He looked beautiful and cold, his posture seemingly harmless and soft.
Cen Li was stunned. The female’s amber eyes were filled entirely with him. The usually indifferent Major General, when intentionally softening his stance, was unexpectedly captivating.
Cen Li felt more and more that something was abnormal.
“Master…”
Asher’s fingertips moved upward at an extremely slow pace. He stroked across the delicate, smooth skin and touched the slightly stiff cuff of Cen Li’s sleeve. It was like a flirtation, but even more like a probe. Where exactly was the male’s bottom line?
Just as Asher was about to go a step further, Cen Li directly gripped his hand. He would not let him move another inch.
Asher’s expression turned somber. Even so, he was willing to offer everything he had. His loyalty, even his body.
Did his Master still view it all with contempt?
