The Heartless Alpha Just Wants to Follow the Plot - Chapter 48
Qiu Fu had no memory of the incident. She had always thought her first encounter with Si Yu was at the Best Actress trophy handover. She hadn’t realized it had been even earlier.
But it was all in the past now. So much time had passed that it hardly seemed worth mentioning.
Back then, she had spoken up for Si Yu simply because she wanted to. She hadn’t expected gratitude or repayment.
She waved her hand firmly. “You don’t need to do this. I never wanted repayment. I only did what I thought a senior should do.”
“If you’re offering me resources because of that, then please take them back. I don’t even remember saying those words, so I won’t use them to demand your gratitude.”
She hadn’t needed repayment then, and she needed it even less now.
Si Yu fell silent, but she didn’t withdraw the script. Instead, she signaled to her assistant with a tilt of her chin.
The assistant rose obediently, glancing at Raya before leaving. Raya understood, Si Yu wanted privacy with Qiu Fu. She leaned down to whisper to Qiu Fu, then stepped away as well, though she only moved two seats down, still keeping watch.
That distance was enough for Si Yu. She smiled. “Your assistant is very good.”
Qiu Fu: “Mm.”
Hearing her cool tone, Si Yu realized her earlier actions had been misunderstood. She apologized. “I’m not offering resources just because of that. I truly wanted to thank you. But more than that, I don’t want another person to take this role. I hope you’ll win it.”
“Of course, it’s also because this role suits you. I’ve watched many of your dramas.”
Qiu Fu didn’t know who the rival was, but Si Yu’s bluntness made it clear, she wanted an alliance.
“Can I know who the opponent is?”
Si Yu sipped her coffee, then answered honestly. “My nemesis. You should know her name, Liu Shan.”
Qiu Fu vaguely remembered. Liu Shan was a model, famous in that field, but not much involved in acting. She couldn’t understand how Si Yu had become her sworn enemy.
Shouldn’t artists only clash with other artists?
Seeing Qiu Fu’s silence, Si Yu knew she was curious. She set down her cup, resting her chin on her hand, and spoke softly:
“If not for her, I wouldn’t have nearly fallen so hard.”
“Her patron is generous and dangerous.”
Si Yu drew a deep breath. “We were once friends. High school classmates. We knew each other’s strengths and limits. But once she entered this circle, she forgot her limits and began catering to her patron.”
“And she didn’t just fall herself, she tried to drag me down too. To please her patron, she invited me over and drugged me.”
Her voice trembled with fury. “If I hadn’t been unwell that day, if my agent hadn’t insisted on accompanying me, I would have been ruined.”
Her hatred was palpable.
“As fellow omegas, you know, if we’re forcibly marked by an alpha, our lives are over. But she, a beta, didn’t care about our survival at all.”
Qiu Fu was stunned. The betrayal reminded her of Hua Siyin, once her friend, who had also sold her out.
Some people didn’t care. But she did.
She was an omega. She could never allow herself to be marked.
An omega could only be marked by one alpha in a lifetime. Choosing that person had to be done carefully, otherwise, it meant a lifetime of suffering.
She understood Si Yu’s hatred. If it had been her, she would have hated too.
“So, you just want to take her role? Couldn’t you do that yourself?”
“She wanted the female lead. I took it. But I can’t take two roles at once. That’s why I thought of you.”
Si Yu was candid. She needed Qiu Fu’s help.
“This supporting role suits you perfectly. It’s a likable character, one that will boost your popularity. Sister Qiu, I’m serious.”
It wasn’t just about using Qiu Fu against Liu Shan. Si Yu genuinely wanted Qiu Fu to shine.
“I’ll do my best. But you said her patron is dangerous.”
Qiu Fu hesitated. She had suffered before because she lacked backing, falling prey to Hua Siyin’s schemes. If she offended another powerful patron now, it could end badly.
She didn’t want to keep cleaning up other people’s messes.
“You don’t need to worry. I’ll explain to Pu Ying. It won’t cause trouble for Feimu. You just need to take the role.”
She paused, her tone firm. “Besides, it’s not really stealing. Nothing’s decided yet. Anyone can win.”
Qiu Fu studied her. Si Yu smiled faintly. “It all comes down to strength. No matter how powerful her patron is, without talent, she’s useless.”
Qiu Fu chuckled. Clearly, Si Yu’s determination to crush Liu Shan ran deep. And truthfully, she wanted it too.
“Since you want my help, I’ll need yours as well.”
If Si Yu wanted her aid against Liu Shan, then she could use Si Yu against Hua Siyin.
Leaning closer, Qiu Fu lowered her voice.
“I hate the kind of person you just described. And I happen to have one exactly like that. I’ll help you deal with Liu Shan, if you help me deal with Hua Siyin. What do you say?”
Si Yu knew about the relationship between Qiu Fu and Hua Siyin. When they had first entered the industry, their friendship had even been photographed. But as their careers diverged—Qiu Fu rising higher and higher, marketing accounts began to belittle Hua Siyin by contrasting her against Qiu Fu.
What Si Yu hadn’t expected was that Hua Siyin would eventually choose the same path as Liu Shan, drugging Qiu Fu.
Suddenly, Si Yu remembered an incident while filming with Su Mo. She and a friend had gone upstairs, where they encountered someone in a baseball cap and mask, but whose entire body carried Su Mo’s pheromone scent.
Could it have been then?
Was that person Qiu Fu?
Thinking of the suppression patch on Qiu Fu’s neck, and recalling how Su Mo had paid her penalty fee, Si Yu’s heart sank.
She had once believed it was all fake, just hype to help Qiu Fu switch companies. After all, Qiu Fu had joined Feimu, and as its head, Su Mo pairing herself with Qiu Fu in CP marketing wasn’t unusual. It was just business.
But now, she wasn’t so sure.
After holding back, Si Yu finally asked: “That day, was it you?”
Qiu Fu hesitated. She remembered seeing Si Yu by the elevator that day. After a pause, she nodded.
So, it was her.
Si Yu’s heart sank further. Qiu Fu had been drenched in Su Mo’s scent that day. The intensity of the pheromones spoke volumes about what had happened. And now, Qiu Fu still wore suppression patches, proof enough.
Though she had always told herself she and Su Mo were impossible, deep down she had wavered. Now she could only laugh bitterly. She hadn’t expected this outcome.
Even if she didn’t want to let go, she had to. It was her own misfortune—her lack of courage to face rumors, her failure to confess to Su Mo. Now Su Mo already had Qiu Fu. She had to give up completely.
Qiu Fu said quietly: “I hope you’ll keep this secret. I’m not ready to make it public.”
She wasn’t with Su Mo yet. She didn’t want to add more rumors to Su Mo’s name. If word spread, Su Mo could even face legal trouble.
Even if she had been forced, it was still her own doing, it had nothing to do with Su Mo.
Si Yu nodded, her heart aching, but promised she wouldn’t speak of it.
“We’ve chosen to cooperate. That means we should trust each other more. You’ve shared with me, I’ve shared with you. Now we hold a mutual secret.”
Si Yu smiled faintly. “You and Su Mo look well-matched. But with her family, things may be complicated. You’d better take advantage of the time she still has the strength to resist, and improve yourself as much as possible.”
She left it at that. They hadn’t been close before, but now, bound by secrets and cooperation, she could offer advice though not interference.
“I know.”
Qiu Fu understood her position. If she didn’t rise now, she might never stand beside Su Mo again. To share Su Mo’s storms, she couldn’t remain the powerless person she was now. She had to grow.
“I’ll rise quickly. Thank you for the reminder.”
Si Yu: “It’s nothing. We’re partners now.”
She paused, then added bluntly: “As long as you don’t forget our original intent, and keep walking this path, we’ll remain the best of partners. That won’t change.”
“My company and yours are friendly. Resources are shared in some areas. So don’t worry about that.”
Qiu Fu set down her script, finally at ease. She lifted her coffee cup toward Si Yu. “Then let’s toast to our first collaboration.”
Si Yu raised her cup too. “To us.”
Just as their partnership was sealed, two more people entered the restaurant. Leading was Su Mo, who had left earlier.
Behind her was a girl in a delicate little dress, pouting, her face full of grievance. She muttered about Su Mo’s lack of consideration, complaining that she wouldn’t even slow down to wait.
“You could at least wait for me! We’re already at the restaurant, why walk so fast? Am I that scary?” The girl stomped her foot angrily, calling after Su Mo.
