The Heartless Alpha Just Wants to Follow the Plot - Chapter 41
Su Mo chuckled softly and shook her head, making it clear this wasn’t some special treatment for Qiu Fu.
“For certain reasons, I’ll likely be taking over Feimu in the future. I know my own acting ability well enough, so I need someone who can carry Feimu forward with me.”
She was always straightforward in matters like this.
“I think you’re a good fit. What do you think?”
Qiu Fu froze, surprised by Su Mo’s bluntness. She pressed her lips together and asked quietly, “What answer do you want to hear?”
Su Mo smiled. “I’d rather hear your most honest answer.”
Without hesitation, Qiu Fu replied, “I think I can.”
Su Mo’s smile deepened. “That’s enough.”
As long as Qiu Fu had confidence, that was all Su Mo needed.
Looking at Su Mo’s relaxed expression, Qiu Fu hesitated before asking, “You.”
Su Mo tilted her head. “Hm?”
Qiu Fu: “After you take over Feimu, will you still act?”
Su Mo thought for a moment, then answered firmly, “Yes.”
She would never give up acting, she loved the craft too much. Thinking of what the future might hold, she was even more determined not to abandon her career.
“But I won’t waste time like before. If a script doesn’t move me, I won’t take it.”
Qiu Fu: “…”
For some reason, she suddenly felt unable to speak. But it wasn’t her fault.
Qiu Fu finally said, “Then I’ll let you work. I need to get back to mine.”
She had received numerous invitations, though none were confirmed yet. Given her recent surge in popularity, most of the scripts offered were shallow, roles tied to her viral beauty photos.
But she disliked playing one-dimensional “sweet and silly” characters who relied only on looks.
What she wanted now were roles that could truly astonish audiences, not empty, pretty faces.
Su Mo nodded. “Alright. Go ahead.”
After ending the call, Qiu Fu sighed as she scrolled through the scripts on her light-brain.
The more she looked, the more frustrated she became. They were all the same, uninspired roles with no originality. The kind of standout characters she longed for never reached her hands.
Without them, she would have to settle, at least to maintain her visibility.
Just as she was about to resign herself, Pu Ying personally sent her three scripts—all major productions, with several veteran actors already confirmed, including some from Feimu Entertainment.
These were seasoned performers, known for their kindness and willingness to chat with juniors, often offering guidance on acting. Among them was a veteran she had admired since childhood, whom she had first seen in a charity film. He had been her inspiration to enter the industry.
Excited, Qiu Fu asked again to confirm: “Mr. An Rusheng will also be in this film?”
An Rusheng—an industry legend. Though he rarely appeared on screen anymore, his records remained unbroken. From past to present, he had been a benchmark, guiding the entire industry forward.
Pu Ying checked the list and nodded. “Yes. Mr. An Rusheng has agreed to participate as a charity appearance. He’ll only appear in the final twenty minutes. If you want to meet him, this film is your chance.”
“But I should warn you, the main theme of this film is unusual. In this hyper-technological age, it focuses on the revival of ancient Earth and the ordinary daily life of a high school. Even if it’s completed, audiences may not flock to see it.”
Adjusting her glasses, Pu Ying continued, “And only three roles remain. One is a dazzling ancient Earth superstar who appears for just three minutes but leaves a breathtaking impression. She’s a supporting role, but requires immense beauty and confidence. Honestly, Su Mo herself could play this role, few in the industry surpass her confidence.”
“The second role is a gender-confused man who believes himself to be a woman. He’s deeply unlikable, cruel to those who care for him, yet submissive to those who mock and abuse him. He’d rather shine shoes for bullies than speak kindly to those who support him.”
“And the last role is the female lead.”
Pu Ying looked at Qiu Fu, who had fallen silent. “This role is highly competitive. It’s a high school student, but high schoolers of that era were very different from today’s. If you want to challenge yourself, I can send you to the internal auditions.”
The lead wasn’t chosen through open casting. Only recommended actresses with proven skill were considered. The initial selection would eliminate many, the second round even more, and the final round would choose the one who best fit the image and had the acting chops.
In terms of image, Qiu Fu still carried a youthful freshness despite her years in the industry. She fit the look. As for acting, well, she would have to prove herself against the competition.
Pu Ying asked directly, “Do you want to try?”
Qiu Fu hesitated. Of the three roles, only two seemed feasible for her. But.
What if she failed?
Pu Ying saw her hesitation. This was Qiu Fu’s first major film offer since switching companies, a huge challenge for someone with little film experience.
But Pu Ying despised hesitation. She said bluntly:
“If you’re afraid, you’ll never succeed. As an actress, you must seize every chance to try. Otherwise, you’d be better off changing careers.”
Qiu Fu snapped out of it, her doubts burned away.
Her eyes shone with determination. “I want to. I’ll do it. Pu Ying, help me.”
Pu Ying smirked. “If you’d shown this resolve earlier, I wouldn’t have had to worry so much.”
Pu Ying closed the light-brain file. Her words had come suddenly, and Qiu Fu, sharp as ever, sensed that she wasn’t just talking about the script.
Could she be hinting at something about Su Mo?
Strange, why did she feel that way?
Qiu Fu gave a vague nod, saying nothing. She didn’t know how to respond.
Pu Ying quickly tucked away the worry that had slipped out and returned to her professional tone.
“Are you certain you only want this one project? You don’t have much film experience. Acting for film is very different from television, so the methods you’ve used on TV won’t work the same way here.
“I’d prefer you take on more television roles first, then move into film, it’s safer. But if you’re determined, I’ll support you.”
An agent could guide, but never force. That was Pu Ying’s principle. Some artists had strong instincts, and if you pushed against them, you might disrupt their momentum and cause them to miss their breakthrough.
She didn’t know Qiu Fu deeply enough to plan everything for her.
“I know. But I want to try.”
Qiu Fu clenched her fists. The thought of acting alongside her childhood idol left her so excited she could hardly breathe. For this film, she was willing to set everything else aside.
“Since you’ve decided, then audition for this one first. The other two scripts can wait. Their timelines are longer, you’ll have time to finish this project before choosing another.”
“Alright. Thank you.”
Qiu Fu’s fists tightened further. She couldn’t let Pu Ying down. If Pu Ying was giving her such resources, Su Mo must have been working behind the scenes too. Perhaps it was because of Su Mo that Pu Ying had offered her these scripts.
After ending the call, she thought for a moment, then sent Su Mo another message of thanks.
She swore silently: she would not disappoint them.
When Su Mo received the message, she raised her brows and immediately called Pu Ying. This time, Pu Ying chose not to video call, just a voice call.
Su Mo lounged on the sofa, sipping coffee, while the Old Master watched her intently from nearby. Crossing her legs casually, she asked, “What is it?”
Pu Ying shared her thoughts on the script, then suggested, “If you’re free at home, you should do a cameo. This role suits you well.”
Su Mo glanced at the script. Perfect, just a few scenes, no more than five minutes of screen time. The role demanded confidence, the kind of beauty that stunned audiences at first glance.
In the entertainment industry, beautiful women were common. But beauty with an edge, so striking that no styling could diminish it was rare. Most of those women had already aged out.
This time, they wanted youth. Su Mo had the advantage.
After a moment’s thought, she decided to accept. Sacrificing herself to play a “pretty vase” wasn’t so bad.
The Old Master, watching her agree, grew curious. His eyes kept darting toward her.
Su Mo’s lips twitched. After hanging up, she turned to him. “If you want to ask something, just say it. Don’t keep staring.”
He coughed lightly. “Was that Pu Ying?”
Su Mo nodded without hesitation. “Yes.”
The Old Master frowned. “You’re going out to film? Didn’t you say you’d inherit the Su family business?”
Acting was never meant to be her final path. Since Su Mo had already decided to take over the family enterprise, why waste time filming?
Couldn’t she stay home, learn to manage the company, and help it grow?
Of course, he didn’t truly believe she could achieve that final step. He only wanted her to settle down. To him, acting was pointless, better she stayed home and spent more time with him.
