The Heartless Alpha Just Wants to Follow the Plot - Chapter 36
After stepping into the grand hall, Su Mo suddenly remembered that she had left another doll inside Qiu Fu’s bag. She gasped sharply, slapped her forehead hard, and muttered to herself.
Honestly, how could I forget something like that?
How am I supposed to explain this later?
“What’s wrong? I asked you to come home and have dinner with me, are you regretting it already?”
Old Master Su sat at the head seat, his expression cold and unreadable.
Su Mo quickly lowered her hand and forced a dry laugh. “Of course not, Grandpa. How could I regret it?”
“Grandpa, why did you suddenly want me to come home for dinner today?”
Normally, he never bothered with her. This was far too sudden.
“Sit down,” the old man ordered.
Su Mo shuffled over reluctantly and sat beside him, her eyes scanning his calm face, trying to guess what he was thinking.
“You’ve been helping that little girl from the Tan family lately, haven’t you?”
Su Mo knew she couldn’t hide this from him, so she nodded. “Yes. She’s pitiful. Since fate brought us together, I thought I should help.”
But the real reason was her mission: she had to protect Tan Ya. If Tan Ya died, the main storyline of this world would collapse, and her own tasks could never be completed.
The old man knew his granddaughter wasn’t as foolish or cold-hearted as the rumors claimed. Deep down, she was soft-hearted.
“The Tan family’s situation has shifted. When you intervened, Tan Xing didn’t just sit idly by.”
In the past, Old Master Su wouldn’t have shared such matters with her. He had only thought of finding her a capable partner. But now, he realized his granddaughter might be able to handle certain things herself. Letting her participate wasn’t impossible.
After all, one day Su Mo would need to stand on her own. Relying on others was never truly safe—partners could have weaknesses, and even betrayals.
“I didn’t want to involve you before. But now, I see your focus has shifted away from that frivolous circle. It’s time you start taking on some family business.”
Su Mo paused, then nodded. “I understand.”
The old man gave a satisfied glance to the steward, who immediately went to order the dishes and discreetly left the room to give them privacy.
Once everyone was gone, Old Master Su fixed his stern gaze on Su Mo. “If you truly want to help that child rise again, the first step is to surpass Tan Xing in ability. He may have seized the Tan family through shady means, but his business skills are solid. The fact that the Tan family has stabilized under him is proof enough.”
Su Mo’s casual demeanor vanished, replaced by seriousness. She realized her grandfather was teaching her how to manage.
“You’ve been at Feimu Entertainment for years now. You should know its position in the industry. What it needs is a stable money-making star. But right now, Feimu has none.”
A company can survive on one evergreen star. But Feimu rose too quickly, and its only veterans were aging artists. In the fast-changing entertainment world, they were already fading. Unless they miraculously revived their popularity, once the public forgot them, Feimu would be left with nothing and the future would be grim.
“Feimu Entertainment will be your training project. Within three years, I expect you to find a new evergreen star to support it.”
Currently, Feimu had only a handful of old artists and Su Mo herself—a “vase” actress who had won awards largely thanks to her background. But Su Mo was destined to retreat behind the scenes. She needed to find someone who could carry the company forward.
Three years might sound short, but in an industry where new idols rise and fall monthly, it was already generous. Most popular artists only signed contracts for one to three years. Three years was the maximum grace period her grandfather was giving her.
“I’ve already found the right person. You don’t need to worry.”
Su Mo spoke with confidence. Her judgment never failed.
The old man quickly realized who she meant.
“You’re talking about Qiu Fu?”
“Yes. She’s not just a pretty face. She has real talent. All she lacks is opportunity and resources.”
“Are you sure? She’s mired in scandals, entangled with you, and if you push her forward, the backlash will be immense. You know that, don’t you?”
He coughed heavily. “You’re not recommending her just because you like her, are you? If this is just a whim, you won’t pass my test.”
“Grandpa, I never do things I’m not certain about.”
Su Mo’s faith in Qiu Fu was unwavering. Though Qiu Fu wasn’t convincing yet, Su Mo believed she would one day become the entertainment industry’s true evergreen star.
“If you’re that confident, then try.”
As his words fell, robots entered carrying trays of dishes.
“Business talk ends here. Let’s eat.”
After dinner, the two went upstairs to rest. Later, Old Master Su entered a hidden chamber. He gazed at the black-and-white photo of a woman and murmured softly:
“Mo Mo has changed. She’s grown smarter. She’s ready to take on the family business. It seems everything we built will have someone to inherit it.”
“Wait a little longer. In a few years, I’ll come to join you.”
He lit three sticks of incense with reverence, his eyes filled with love and longing. His fingers gently brushed the woman’s face in the photo. “Are you living well over there? I miss you so much, Nian Fang.”
Only after his grief had ebbed did he leave, carefully locking the chamber behind him.
The next day, Qiu Fu received a new job. Before heading out, she thought for a moment, then placed the pink ceramic doll into her bag and carried it with her.
For several months, fans had heard nothing from Qiu Fu, and their patience was wearing thin. In the entertainment industry, turnover was brutal—disappearing for just a few months could mean being forgotten entirely.
What made things even more complicated was her sudden job change. Everyone had checked: Qiu Fu’s contract with Qi Huan Entertainment hadn’t yet expired, but her profile now listed Feimu Entertainment as her company.
And those two companies were sworn enemies.
Only those who had signed with Qi Huan truly understood its despicable methods. Most in the industry didn’t know the details of its operations, but many had been dragged into disputes with them. The company’s reputation was abysmal. People had even witnessed Qi Huan artists being taken out alone by producers, directors, or investors—only to be harassed and exploited.
Qi Huan Entertainment remained silent about these incidents, which only deepened the disgust of insiders.
Now, Qi Huan had publicly announced Qiu Fu’s “dismissal,” while Feimu Entertainment confirmed her signing. Fans rejoiced, relieved that she had finally escaped her old company. Everyone had seen the unfair treatment she endured.
But soon after signing, Qiu Fu became entangled with Su Mu—the industry’s most notorious “playgirl” and “diva.” Rumors of her being kept as a mistress spread, and she never clarified them. Only Feimu issued a vague statement.
Fans, unsure of the truth, grew anxious. Some feared this was a scheme by Feimu and Qi Huan working together to suppress her, using the opportunity to blacklist her completely.
Fan comments flooded in:
• “Sis, how could you be so reckless! Qi Huan may be awful, but at least it made you famous. Now you’ve jumped ship, and with big names dominating Feimu, they won’t give you any chance!”
• “Maybe it’s just because she switched companies—resources are still being transferred, so she can’t appear yet?”
• “Or maybe the scandals are too intense right now. She has to lay low for a while.”
• “Qi Huan was never good!!! Feimu might not be perfect, but at least it hasn’t had those disgusting scandals.”
• “Why are you comparing trash to trash?”
Despite the chaos, Qiu Fu felt touched by her fans’ concern. Most of them had never even met her, yet they gave her strength and courage to face everything that came with entering the industry.
If Qi Huan hadn’t tried to use her as a bargaining chip, she wouldn’t have left so easily. Cold and ruthless as it was, the company had once brought her glory.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be back in front of everyone soon.”
Qiu Fu clenched her fists with determination.
As she waited, a sleek but understated aircraft stopped in front of her. The door opened, and a tall figure stepped out, standing before her with a hand extended. Calmly, without arrogance or servility, the newcomer said:
“Hello, I’m Raya, your new assistant. I heard you don’t like being surrounded by too many people, so Sister Pu only assigned me to you.”
Raya had short white hair, a face with faint makeup, and striking mixed-race features that made her look sharp and defined. Her tall frame, nearly 1.8 meters made Qiu Fu, at 1.72 meters, feel a little pressured.
Her casual attire couldn’t hide her competence. Agile and disciplined, she looked like someone who had undergone professional training, perhaps even military.
“I’m Qiu Fu,” she introduced herself.
They shook hands. Raya’s grip was firm, her knuckles pronounced, almost boyish. Yet her curvaceous figure confirmed she was a woman and an alpha.
Why would Pu Ying assign her an alpha?
Raya released her hand with a faint smile. “You seem a little curious about me, Qiu-jie?”
“Let me introduce myself properly. I used to be a soldier. Later, I worked as a professional bodyguard, specializing in close combat and piloting mechs and spacecraft.”
Qiu Fu pressed her lips together. So, she really was military.
“For certain reasons, I’ve been reassigned to protect you. As your assistant, you can trust me, I’ll keep you safe.”
Raya’s appearance was striking, but thanks to her training, she could disguise herself when necessary. After becoming a bodyguard, though, she rarely bothered.
Since Pu Ying had chosen her, Qiu Fu felt reassured.
She pulled a sealed bottle of yogurt from her bag and handed it to Raya. “Thank you. From now on, my safety is in your hands.”
