The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 45.1
Presumably, because it was everyone’s first time visiting West City, the others were quite excited, chattering non-stop throughout the journey.
Some girls even pulled out prawn strips and jelly from their backpacks to share with everyone.
Teacher Luo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as she said, “Are you here to participate in a competition or on a spring outing?”
The schedule at Hucheng No. 1 Middle School was tightly packed, so someone complained with a smile, “Don’t even mention it, Teacher. How many years has it been since our school last had a spring outing?”
Teacher Luo laughed and said, “Then I’ll talk to Director Xu another day and have him arrange one.”
The crowd cheered in a chaotic mess, “Alright!”
“Wuhu!”
Yan Xia leaned her head against the seat back, her brows slightly furrowed in a way that was hard to detect.
The sunlight fell on her face like a hazy veil, revealing the tiny, pale gold fuzz on her skin.
Since a moment ago, she had been uncharacteristically quiet. Shang Wandong was not one for much talking either, so the atmosphere cooled down, appearing out of place compared to the liveliness surrounding them.
Shang Wandong turned her head and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Yan Xia’s eyes were half-closed, and her voice was very soft, as if she were acting spoiled: “A bit of motion sickness.”
Her head felt heavy, and she felt a bit nauseous.
She had motion sickness in the real world, and she hadn’t expected this ailment to be carried over to the original host’s body after she transmigrated.
The air conditioning was on in the car, so the windows couldn’t be opened. A faint fragrance permeated the air, mixed with a heavy scent of leather.
Yan Xia felt her head spinning even more.
Shang Wandong reached into her pocket, fumbled around, and leaned closer to her.
“Hand.”
Yan Xia stretched out her right hand, and a pale blue candy landed in her palm.
She curled the corners of her mouth and peeled the shiny candy wrapper: “Peppermint flavor again?”
“Mm.”
“You even carry candy with you when you go out now.” Yan Xia popped the candy into her mouth. “I didn’t expect you to be this kind of Shang Wandong.”
Shang Wandong glanced at her. “If I didn’t bring candy, what would you do about your motion sickness?”
With the candy in her mouth, the air Yan Xia breathed through her nose became cool, and the feelings of dizziness and nausea were slowly suppressed.
She tilted the corners of her mouth and squinted with a smile: “Thank you, Sister.”
Shang Wandong pulled her earphones out of her bag, but suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder.
Yan Xia buried her head against her shoulder and rubbed it, whispering, “I want to sleep for a bit.”
An earphone was tucked into her ear, and light instrumental music began to play. The gentle melody felt like a midsummer night.
Cicadas chirping, falling rain, fireflies…
Shang Wandong put on the other earphone and lowered her voice: “Go to sleep.”
Yan Xia closed her eyes, and everything around her became blurred.
She slowly fell into a deep dream of a midsummer night.
Her shoulder was gently shaken a few times, and a familiar voice sounded in her ear, sounding a bit gentle through a hazy mist: “We’re almost there, wake up.”
When Yan Xia opened her eyes, the school bus was driving through a wide iron gate.
The surroundings were filled with excited discussions: “Holy crap, No. 2 Middle School is huge!”
“This basketball court is quite impressive…”
“It’s just that the location is too remote; there isn’t even a shopping mall nearby.”
Yan Xia rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up straight. The hard peppermint candy in her mouth had completely dissolved, leaving her mouth feeling sticky and dry.
She licked her lips, her curled eyelashes trembling slightly, casting a semi-arc shadow on her fair skin.
Yan Xia hadn’t quite regained her senses yet and said dazed, “So thirsty…”
Shang Wandong massaged her sore shoulder and pulled out a pale green thermos, unscrewed the lid, and poured a cup for her.
“Here.”
Yan Xia took it with both hands, tilted her head back, and finished it in one go.
She blinked and licked the water stains off her lips: “Lemonade?”
“Mm.”
Yan Xia held the cup lid with both hands and stretched it out toward her like a small animal begging for food: “More.”
Shang Wandong poured her another cup. Yan Xia lowered her head, half-closing her eyes, sipping it in small mouthfuls.
The school bus slowly pulled over to the curb.
Another leading teacher shouted from the front, “Students, we’ve arrived! Get off the bus!”
Everyone got off and stood between several tall buildings, their faces overflowing with excitement and happiness.
“You will be staying over there later.” Teacher Luo pointed to a dormitory building in front of them. “This is a newly built dormitory from this year. The conditions are quite good, with beds over desks, private bathrooms, and washing machines.”
Someone asked, “How are the dorms assigned, Teacher?”
Teacher Luo said, “You’ll be on the third floor, three to a room. Assign yourselves freely, but try to stay with classmates from the same class so it’s easier for me to take roll call in the evening.”
“Water and electricity won’t be cut off at night, but lights out is promptly at eleven. After all, this is someone else’s school, so everyone should try their best to follow the school rules and not lose face for Hucheng No. 1 Middle School.”
She handed out a door card to each person. “Alright, everyone go up and organize your dorms.”
Everyone picked up their suitcases and rushed upstairs with a clatter.
Shang Wandong and Yan Xia were at the very back, walking in slowly.
Because she had slept so deeply just now, Yan Xia was having trouble snapping out of it. Her mind was foggy, her eyelids drooping lazily, as she followed closely behind Shang Wandong like a little tail.
Standing before the stairs, Shang Wandong turned around to see her half-asleep appearance and asked, “Should I help you carry it up?”
Yan Xia shook her head and slowly hauled her luggage up to the third floor.
The hallway was somewhat narrow and the lights weren’t on; sunlight poured in from the windows, with tiny dust motes dancing in the light.
Shang Wandong stood in the third-floor hallway, looking out at a fluttering red flag on the golden playground in the distance, where many people were running below.
Yan Xia’s head leaned against her shoulder as she asked stickily, “Sister, which room are we staying in?”
Shang Wandong retracted her gaze. “Anywhere is fine with me.”
There were six dormitory rooms in the hallway, and four were already occupied.
Yan Xia chose the empty room closest to the stairs to stay in, so that if an accident happened, they could go downstairs quickly.
The dormitory was cleaned very well and fully equipped; the bedding looked brand new, and a scent of sun-dried fabric could be detected upon getting close.
Three keys were placed on the table. Shang Wandong and Yan Xia each took one and began to pick their beds.
Two beds were placed head-to-tail together, while the third bed and a cabinet were set on the other side.
Yan Xia was still thinking about what reason to use to fool Shang Wandong into sleeping in the first two beds with her.
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the doorway the rolling sound of wheels on the floor.
A girl wearing glasses walked in pushing a small suitcase, looked around, and wordlessly placed her luggage under the third bed.
Ignoring everyone else, she opened her suitcase and took out a few wrinkled clothes, putting them into the nearby wardrobe.
Yan Xia and Shang Wandong looked at each other; well, now they didn’t have to choose.
Yan Xia took the initiative to say hello: “Hello, classmate. Don’t forget to take the dorm key from the table.”
The girl paused, glanced at her, walked to the table, and took the key.
Without looking up, she said, “Thanks.”
It seemed she had no intention of communicating further with them.
Yan Xia didn’t mind either. She picked a bed by the window and started organizing her things.
Since they were only staying for two days, she hadn’t brought much. She piled her skincare products and charger on the desk below.
Because the dormitory didn’t provide locks for the cabinets, Yan Xia didn’t dare put anything too valuable inside, only a few clothes and snacks.
There weren’t many things, but organizing them took a good while. By the time Yan Xia’s stomach began to growl with hunger, she realized it was already noon.
She sprawled in her chair and said in a relaxed manner, “Sister, let’s go eat at the cafeteria.”
“Okay.” Shang Wandong zipped up her suitcase and stood up.
Yan Xia looked at the other girl and said casually, “Classmate, want to go together?”
The girl sat on her bed playing with her phone with earphones plugged in, ignoring her.
Shang Wandong said, “Let’s go first.”
Yan Xia nodded and walked out of the dormitory one after the other with Shang Wandong.
Back in Hucheng, she was a day student and had never lived in a dormitory or eaten at a school cafeteria. Now that she was at No. 2 Middle School, she was experiencing these things instead, which was quite novel.
The cafeteria was bustling with people. Many students wearing the No. 2 Middle School uniform were walking around, sizing them up with curious gazes.
Yan Xia looked around, feeling dazzled: “What do you want to eat?”
Shang Wandong said, “Anything is fine.”
Yan Xia lightly bumped her shoulder and asked with a grin, “Is this your first time eating at a cafeteria? Come, come, I’ll lead the way.”
Shang Wandong looked at her. “Isn’t it your first time too?”
“I…” Yan Xia suddenly remembered that the female lead had never eaten at a cafeteria either. She rubbed her nose awkwardly and coughed dryly. “I haven’t eaten at one, but I’ve seen them.”
She pulled Shang Wandong along and found a window that looked decent to line up. When it was her turn, Yan Xia pretended to be inexperienced: “Au—Auntie, I want th—that…”
The cafeteria lady didn’t know whether to laugh or cry: “Little girl, why are you so nervous just to eat?”
The people around them also laughed at the sight. Yan Xia looked embarrassed and walked to the side with her tray, her head lowered.
Shang Wandong, who was behind her, stepped forward and casually ordered a few dishes: “I’ll have sweet potato leaves, tomato and fried eggs, and braised pork bones. Thank you, Sister.”
The cafeteria lady was so happy she couldn’t stop smiling: “This girl is so handsome, and she has such a sweet tongue.” After saying that, she gave her a huge scoop of white rice.
Yan Xia: “???”
The little block of wood actually knew how to use words to bribe people!!
Shang Wandong got her soup and walked to Yan Xia’s side with her meal tray.
Yan Xia looked at her suspiciously: “Why are you so practiced at this?”
Shang Wandong looked at her and said calmly, “Because I’ve seen it too.”
Yan Xia: …Fine then.
