The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 32
In the silence, an indescribable ambiguity spread under the moonlight, flowing soundlessly.
The microwave emitted a “ding” and stopped rotating, breaking the atmosphere where no one spoke.
Yan Xia took out the milk cup; the warm liquid swayed inside. She added a little bit of white sugar and handed it to Shang Wandong with a smile: “Here you go, Sister. Be careful, it’s hot.”
Shang Wandong reached out to take the cup. Their hands touched, and she felt the other’s fingernails brush against her palm seemingly unintentionally, stirring a ripple-like itch.
She lowered her eyes unnaturally and whispered her thanks.
A faint sweetness dissolved on the tip of her tongue. Shang Wandong took a deep breath and gradually calmed down.
Leaning against the counter, Yan Xia took in the other’s cramped reaction completely.
She curved her eyes and asked, “Is it good?”
Shang Wandong nodded slightly.
“I was worried you didn’t drink sweet things.”
Shang Wandong put down the cup, residual milk remaining on her rosy lips: “I can drink a little.”
Yan Xia leaned in close to look at her and said softly, “You got some on you.”
She pulled out a napkin. Her fingertips, through the soft paper surface, gently pressed against the moist lips, touching from the peak of the lips bit by bit until tenderly landing on the corner of the mouth.
Shang Wandong’s eyes widened slightly, startled and bewildered.
She suddenly heard the sound of her own heartbeat, which was exceptionally loud in the silence of the deep night.
Yan Xia curled her lips and pulled the napkin away, passing by soundlessly like a gust of wind.
She proactively released Shang Wandong’s hand and said softly, “Go to sleep early, Sister.”
After saying this, Yan Xia turned and left.
The System asked in confusion: “Host, the atmosphere was so good, why not stay a bit longer?”
“You wouldn’t understand this.” Yan Xia gave a yawn and narrowed her eyes. “With someone like Shang Wandong, you can’t tease her too much. You have to leave her a little room to react; otherwise, it’s easy to trigger a rebound.”
The System had a sudden realization: “I know, I know! This tactic is called ‘playing hard to get’! But can she figure it out on her own?”
Yan Xia smiled: “Didn’t you see how abnormal she was today? I think she must have dreamed of something… Making a bold guess, it might be related to me.”
What she had to do now was simply let nature take its course and add a bit more fuel to the fire, making the emotions in Shang Wandong’s heart burn more intensely. Gaining enlightenment was only a matter of time.
“Yan Xia.”
Shang Wandong’s voice came from behind. “…Are you going back to sleep?”
Yan Xia turned her head: “Mhm. Is there anything else?”
“Nothing.” Shang Wandong paused and said in a low voice, “…Goodnight.”
Yan Xia said softly, “See you tomorrow.”
Shang Wandong watched Yan Xia’s figure disappear up the stairs until she could no longer see her.
The emotions on her face were instantly tucked away cleanly. She sat down by the table, a bit of fatigue showing in her eyes as she took small sips from the cup.
The milk was a bit cooler than before, and the taste was no longer as good.
The next day, before the morning self-study period, the air in Class A was filled with joy.
“Hey! Are there new students transferring to our class today?”
“Yes, I heard there are three! Two Alphas and one Omega.”
“So many? I wonder if they look good…”
“I heard the Omega seems quite pretty. It’s that Yan Xia who has been quite famous on the forums lately. You all know her, right?”
Everyone talked at once: “We know, we know. But she looks much better now than before; it’s like she had plastic surgery.”
“Yan Xia seems to be a soft girl; I’m down for that!”
“I feel like her reputation isn’t that great. Didn’t she vigorously chase after Luo Qiyuan before? And recently there was the cheating scandal, although it was fake… I don’t have much of a favorable impression of her.”
While they were talking, a clattering sound came from outside the door, as if someone was dragging something over.
Everyone looked toward the sound and saw a tall boy carrying a desk and chair into the back door. The girl behind him held a backpack; she had shoulder-length short hair, fair skin, and small, delicate features, possessing a fragile beauty.
“Zhong Quan, just put it here. Thank you.”
The girl called out to the boy who was about to walk forward, took a tissue out of her pocket, and handed it to him, thanking him in a thin voice: “Sorry to trouble you.”
Zhong Quan casually wiped the sweat off his face and said bluntly, “It’s nothing.” He narrowed his eyes to look ahead with a worried expression. “Can you see the blackboard clearly sitting in the last row?”
“I’ll just sit anywhere for now and wait for the teacher to arrange it.” Yan Xia put down her backpack and walked out of the classroom with him.
Everyone looked at each other and began discussing their figures with a buzz: “Wow, she is Yan Xia? She’s really so cute!”
“Is that boy her boyfriend? He seems quite handsome too! Too bad he’s from Class F.”
Fu Yuan’s heart stirred, and she turned with a smile to tease her deskmate: “The two of them look like such a good match. Wandong, what do you think?”
Shang Wandong lifted her eyelids. The pen in her hand paused and was snapped down onto the table.
She was not wearing a bite-inhibitor today; the coldness and indifference on her face were completely exposed, making people feel a chill in their hearts.
Fu Yuan abruptly shut her mouth, panicking: “S—sorry, I shouldn’t have disturbed you while you were doing problems.”
She thought fearfully: Why does it feel like Shang Wandong is exceptionally impatient today?
Outside the classroom, Zhong Quan scratched the back of his head and whispered, “Then I’ll head back?”
Yan Xia nodded and curved her eyes: “Okay, thank you for your hard work.”
Zhong Quan, like a mother hen protecting her chick, added: “Don’t—don’t be afraid being alone in Class A. If you get bullied, come to Class F and tell me anytime; I’ll help you teach those nerds a lesson.”
“Alright, alright, hurry back.” Yan Xia chuckled. “Class is about to start.”
Zhong Quan nodded worriedly: “Mhm, then I’m leaving. You must take care of yourself.”
After saying this, he walked away, looking back every three steps.
Yan Xia: “…” Is my fragile persona too deeply rooted in people’s hearts? This isn’t really necessary.
Wait until Zhong Quan returned to Class F, she then walked into the classroom. The previously chaotic Class A went silent in unison, sizing her up with various gazes.
Yan Xia: ???
She braced herself and sat down, her gaze scanning around until it landed on a tall back.
Yan Xia grumbled in her heart: Even at this time, Shang Wandong is actually still doing problems? Does she have to maintain her top-student persona that much!
With one hand supporting her chin, she knitted her brows and reached into the desk drawer with her other hand, lowering her head to send a message to Shang Wandong.
Yan Xia: “Sister!”
Yan Xia: “Sister, sister!”
Yan Xia: “Sister, sister, sister—”
Separated by several rows of seats, Shang Wandong looked down at the phone vibrating incessantly in her drawer and replied: “?”
Very good, she was actually unwilling to type even a single word.
Yan Xia pursed her lips and continued typing: “Starting today, Sister and I are classmates!”
Yan Xia: “[Cat sending heart.jpg] Do you have anything you want to say to me!”
A moment later, Shang Wandong replied: “Read more books, socialize less.”
Indifference mixed with a hint of human touch.
Yan Xia: “…………”
She poked the screen indignantly, pointing fingers at Shang Wandong’s grey avatar. She typed over a dozen words in a row, then deleted them all in a fit of pique.
…Forget it, it’s not worth getting angry at a block of wood.
Suddenly, a voice sounded by her ear: “Hey, who are you chatting with?”
Yan Xia shuddered all over and instinctively stuffed her phone into the drawer.
Although Hucheng No. 1 High School did not explicitly forbid students from bringing phones, they would still be confiscated if seen by a teacher.
Yan Xia looked up tremblingly; Director Xu was looking at her with a beaming smile.
“Don’t be nervous. Today is your first day in our class; I won’t confiscate your phone.” Seeing her face full of mourning, Director Xu happily patted Yan Xia’s shoulder and lowered his voice, “Pay attention next time.”
Yan Xia nodded like a chick pecking grain: “Thank you, Teacher Xu.”
Director Xu put a finger to his lips, shushing her. With his hands behind his back, he patrolled on his tiptoes from the last row to the first row, scaring many people playing with their phones half to death.
“Oh my f… go, Old Class [Teacher], don’t scare people!”
“Where did you pop up from???”
“Ahhh, my fruit phone [iPhone] I just bought; I haven’t even played with it for a few days! Wuwuwu…”
Director Xu was precisely the homeroom teacher of Class A. He confiscated a bunch of phones, reaping a great harvest. Holding an enamel cup, he walked onto the podium as if taking a leisurely stroll.
He was slightly chubby and had a kind face, giving people the impression of having a very good temper.
He straightened his face slightly: “Without someone leading the morning self-study, you don’t know what to do anymore, right?”
Everyone looked at him listlessly.
Director Xu couldn’t help but laugh: “What are you doing? It’s early morning and every one of you has a miserable face. Is this the state you use to welcome new classmates?”
He tapped the podium table and pointed at the large stack of phones on it. “Alright, I was just scaring you today. I didn’t intend to confiscate them. Come up and take them yourselves later. Let this not happen again.”
The crowd below immediately burst into cheers: “Hooray!”
“Wuhu—”
Yan Xia clicked her tongue: The atmosphere in Class A… is indeed very different from Class F.
Director Xu adjusted his shirt collar and asked, “Are all the new classmates here? Raise your hand and let me see.”
Yan Xia raised her hand. Looking around, only her hand was standing lonely.
Two loud voices suddenly came from the doorway: “Report!”
Director Xu looked sideways and said happily, “What a coincidence, I was just waiting for you two. Quick, come and sit.”
A boy and a girl walked in one after another, each carrying their own desk, and stood in place looking left and right.
The girl asked in confusion: “Teacher, where do we sit?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll arrange the seats for the three of you right now.”
Director Xu looked toward the back row and called out, “Yan Xia, come sit in the front.”
Yan Xia nodded, stood up, and pushed her table forward.
She looked exceptionally fragile, as if she would fall over if the wind blew. A girl nearby saw this and asked in a low voice, “Do you need help?”
Yan Xia shook her head and smiled: “No need, thank you.”
“You sit in that seat near the door.” Director Xu pointed to a position where a boy was sitting in the third row. “Zhang Xiang, it’s time for you to go to Class B.”
Zhang Xiang stood up with his head lowered, picked up his desk, and walked out with his head down.
Everyone silently watched his figure walk away.
The promotion system was like this: some people performed well and transferred in, while others dropped out.
Yan Xia pushed her table to the empty spot and smiled at her new deskmate: “Hello.”
The new deskmate glanced at her with no intention of speaking.
Yan Xia didn’t mind either. She looked back and saw Shang Wandong sitting just one row away, looking at her.
The two met eyes. Yan Xia pursed her lips and suddenly raised her hand high: “Teacher Xu!”
Director Xu, who was arranging seats for the other two, looked at her in surprise: “What’s wrong?”
Everyone also cast curious glances.
“I want to sit one row further back.” Yan Xia’s expression was calm, and she spoke with sound reason, “I am a little bit taller than the student behind me; I will block her view of the blackboard.”
Director Xu was stunned for a moment: “But aren’t you nearsighted?”
Yan Xia: “It’s okay, I can see.”
Seeing her persistence, Director Xu could only nod: “Alright, then you sit there.”
The student behind her was also very surprised and thanked her without knowing the reason: “Thank you.”
Yan Xia smiled at her: “You’re welcome.”
She pushed her table and sat down in front of Shang Wandong, taking her books and test papers out of her backpack and lining them up one by one.
Rustling sounds came from behind, as if someone had started writing on a paper again.
The deskmate beside her was more enthusiastic than the previous one and greeted her happily: “Hello! My name is Lu Yixing!”
She looked clean and elegant with shoulder-length short hair, appearing generous and refreshing.
Yan Xia responded cordially: “My name is Yan Xia.”
“I know you.” Lu Yixing suddenly leaned in to size her up, thoughtful. “You used to chase Luo Qiyuan, right? You look so different from before.”
Yan Xia smiled awkwardly but politely: “…Indeed.”
The rustling sound of writing stopped.
“Lu Yixing.” Shang Wandong’s voice rose from behind. “You are very noisy.”
Lu Yixing’s eyes widened, and she immediately reached out to cover her mouth.
Yan Xia was also taken aback and turned back to look at Shang Wandong.
Shang Wandong’s gaze rested on Lu Yixing; the emotion in her eyes was very faint as she said, “Stay further away from her.”
An Alpha in their susceptibility period has an uncontrollable sense of possessiveness and desire for control over the object they have marked, finding it difficult to tolerate their Alpha getting close to others.
Lu Yixing lowered her hand and asked cautiously: “Why? I didn’t do anything to her.”
“There is no why.” Shang Wandong put down her pen, her expression cold and weary. “Turn back.”
Fu Yuan quickly said: “Wandong is in a bit of a bad mood today; don’t provoke her.”
Lu Yixing stuck out her tongue and turned her head back discouraged.
Yan Xia, however, curled the corners of her mouth. Supporting her chin, she leaned against Shang Wandong’s desk and looked at her teasingly.
This little block of wood wasn’t in a bad mood; she was clearly jealous.
She picked up a pen from the table and drew on the paper.
Shang Wandong lowered her eyelids, watching Yan Xia act recklessly on her scratchpad.
Fu Yuan’s face beside them darkened.
Having been Shang Wandong’s deskmate for so long, this was the first time she saw Shang Wandong allow someone else to touch her things, let alone let them mess around like this.
Yan Xia drew upside down; a little person with long black hair was standing with arms akimbo in a crooked way, their expression angry, holding a bottle in one hand.
Shang Wandong looked down and asked, “What is this?”
“This is you.” Yan Xia wrote the three characters of Shang Wandong’s name next to the little person, drew an arrow, and then pointed to the bottle that looked like a thermos: “This is a vinegar jar [jealousy].”
Shang Wandong looked up; Yan Xia was looking at her with a beaming smile.
Lu Yixing in front finally couldn’t help but turn back and ask inquisitively: “Shang Wandong, why don’t you tell her to turn back?”
Shang Wandong: “…”
Lu Yixing: “You don’t even find her noisy! Are you…”
Shang Wandong: “No.” She narrowed her eyes, her expression becoming rare and impatient, “Shut up.”
Hearing this, Lu Yixing used her hand to aggrievedly pull a zipper, sealing her mouth.
Yan Xia saw that the tips of Shang Wandong’s ears were slowly turning red. She couldn’t help but lean in and whisper: “Sister, you know what? Your face is turning red again.”
Shang Wandong narrowed her eyes, pursed her lips, and said: “…You turn back too.”
