The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 27
“Teacher Zhang, if you want to say Yan Xia cheated, you must at least produce evidence,” said Old Liu.
Inside the office, Old Liu was leaning against the desk with a headache, stopping the agitated Zhang Ying in front of him. “Furthermore, viewing the surveillance footage requires Director Xu’s permission; it’s not something you can just watch whenever you want!”
“Evidence? Her grades are the evidence!”
Zhang Ying took out Yan Xia’s math paper from the last weekly exam and slapped it on the desk, placing it alongside the midterm exam paper. “Teacher Liu, look for yourself. From the bottom of the grade to first in a single subject is such a massive leap possible in just one week?”
“This…” Old Liu hesitated for a moment.
A sudden improvement of this magnitude was indeed very strange, but it wasn’t as if the school had never seen such a person in its history. There was someone from a good family who was very smart; they could understand many concepts instantly but never liked studying seriously, choosing only to do the questions they liked during exams, resulting in a constant rank at the bottom. Once, to spite their parents, their grades shot up into the top fifty.
However, looking at Yan Xia’s usual state of study, one couldn’t see that kind of talent at all, let alone jumping straight to first in the entire grade.
He looked at Yan Xia, who was standing silently beside him, and said with a heavy expression, “Yan Xia, tell me honestly, are these grades truly your own?”
“They are mine.” Yan Xia looked at Old Liu, her eyes clear and transparent. “Teacher, I remember that while I was taking the exam, you were standing right next to me. You should be the one who knows this best.”
Old Liu suddenly felt as if he had been exposed on the spot. His old face flushed with embarrassment. “Indeed, indeed. I was proctoring in Class F during the last two sessions, and I certainly did not see Yan Xia cheating.”
Zhang Ying hesitated for a moment. “…Perhaps she cheated during the other two sessions?”
The class teacher, Old Liu, was stuck between laughter and tears. “Teacher Zhang, you also know that Yan Xia’s overall rank this time is tenth. Even if we assume she cheated on only two exams and her other grades were a mess, how could she possibly score this high? Your logic simply doesn’t hold up.”
Zhang Ying pursed her lips and remained silent.
The English teacher nearby expressed agreement. “I also think the child wrote it herself. Look, she was in the last examination room. The average score of the students around her was 300 points—not even half of hers. Who could she have copied from?”
Hearing this, Old Liu nodded. “Exactly, that’s the logic.”
Zhang Ying subconsciously clenched her hands, and the weekly exam paper was crumpled into a ball. She felt unable to refute them but was unwilling to lower her pride and admit it, so she stiffened her neck and said, “She might have brought some kind of smart device.”
Yan Xia laughed. “Teacher Zhang, we have metal detectors for every exam, as well as signal jammers. Do you distrust the proctors, or do you distrust the school’s detection equipment?”
The way she said this made it seem as though refuting her would be questioning the competence of the school and the teachers.
Zhang Ying stared, unable to speak for a long time. Yan Xia looked up at her. This beautiful young girl looked harmless, and her tone was innocent. “Furthermore, the First Middle School always creates its own papers for major exams. Even if one searches the internet, they won’t find them.”
Zhang Ying opened her mouth, trembling with rage. In all her years of teaching, she had always been the one lecturing students; this was the first time a student had stood over her and lectured her. She had completely lost face in front of her colleagues!
“Teacher Liu, you also know Yan Xia’s track record. Someone like her ‘rotten wood that cannot be carved’ whose family has money, how could she settle down to review properly? She could just go abroad and get a university degree whenever she wants!”
Blinded by fury, she gritted her teeth and spoke without thinking. “Besides, I just asked Yan Xia’s deskmate, and she said Yan Xia hasn’t reviewed much at all these past few days!”
Yan Xia: ?
So this Jiang He really acts one way to my face and another behind my back. Relying on the fact that I haven’t lowered myself to her level, she’s now pushing her luck?!
Old Liu rubbed his temples. “You can’t say it like that, Teacher Zhang…”
Seeing the atmosphere at a stalemate, the English teacher tried to smooth things over. “Alright, alright, don’t be anxious. I remember her deskmate is named Jiang He, right? Just call Jiang He in and ask her, then we’ll know.”
A few minutes later, Jiang He gently pushed open the office door. She stood opposite Yan Xia, her eyes darting around as she whispered, “Hello, teachers.”
Teacher Liu said kindly, “Jiang He, we didn’t call you here for anything else; we just wanted to ask about Yan Xia’s situation.”
“Yan Xia?” Jiang He subconsciously glanced at Yan Xia across from her, looking dazed. “Did something happen to her?”
Yan Xia looked at her coldly. Good. Keep acting.
Teacher Liu asked, “Is it true what you said about her not reviewing these past few days?”
Jiang He looked like she suddenly understood. “Oh, that… I don’t know about her situation at home, but at school…” she paused hesitantly, “I didn’t really see her reviewing or listening to the lectures.”
Hearing this, the others couldn’t help but look complicated. Zhang Ying looked triumphant and suddenly felt justified.
The system panicked: “Host, it’s over! Their combo seems to be working quite well!”
Yan Xia sneered: “What are you panicking for? Watch me.”
She pursed her lips and lowered her eyes. Beneath her curled eyelashes, a hint of tears faintly appeared.
“Xiao He, I know you don’t like me,” Yan Xia took a deep breath, her voice trembling, “but I still treated you as my best friend, even though you have been bullying me…”
Jiang He panicked instantly. “What are you saying? What bullying!”
“Don’t lie anymore.” Yan Xia’s eyes turned red. “You clearly know I’ve been memorizing books these past few days, don’t you?”
Just as Jiang He was about to argue, she suddenly remembered Yan Xia’s previous recording, and her heart skipped a beat. Campus bullying was no small matter; if exposed, she could be expelled.
“I… I don’t know…” She hurriedly looked away.
Zhang Ying’s smile froze. She urged, “Jiang He, don’t be afraid. If there is anything, just speak out boldly!”
Jiang He just lowered her head and said nothing.
“What are you all standing here for?” a voice came from behind. “Go, go, go back to class.”
Yan Xia turned around to see a slightly chubby, middle-aged man driving away the students outside the door and walking into the office with his hands behind his back. Yan Xia had seen him at the flag-raising ceremony and recognized his face this was the Director of the sophomore year.
“What happened?” Director Xu walked over with a smile. He looked kind and benevolent, like a living Maitreya Buddha. “Everyone has such long faces.”
“Director Xu, something happened.” Old Liu stood up and told him the whole story with a bitter smile.
Upon hearing it, Director Xu’s furrowed brows gradually relaxed. “So that’s how it is.”
He looked at Zhang Ying, his expression gradually becoming serious. “Teacher Zhang, so you are doubting your student without any evidence, is that correct?”
No matter how bold Zhang Ying was, she didn’t dare argue in front of the Grade Director. She explained, “Director Xu, you don’t understand her. I just felt her progress was too large and there might be a problem. Also, her deskmate said she usually doesn’t listen in class.”
Jiang He hung her head, pretending to be dead to the world.
“You also said it is only ‘possible.’ Perhaps it is because she reviewed especially hard this time? Perhaps she simply didn’t study well before?” Director Xu said solemnly. “An improvement in grades is clearly a good thing. Why must you insist she cheated?”
Zhang Ying said, “But…”
Director Xu sighed and said earnestly, “As a teacher, your job is to educate and set a good example for your students. Respecting and trusting your students is the most basic principle.”
This was the first time Zhang Ying had been lectured by a superior. Her eyes turned red, and she muttered like a rabbit, “Director, I…”
Director Xu saw that she had just graduated from normal school and was still young, so he didn’t want to be too harsh. He patted her shoulder. “Teacher Zhang, only by being a good person yourself can you teach your students well.”
With that, he opened the computer and pulled up the surveillance footage of the day. On the color screen, there was Yan Xia during the exam. The footage was very clear: thinking, writing, handing in the paper… every step was clear and upright, without any cheating behavior.
Zhang Ying was finally speechless. She looked at the surveillance screen, remained silent for a long while, and said dryly, “…I understand.”
Suddenly, a cold voice came from the doorway.
“Apologize.”
Yan Xia turned her head sharply. She saw Shang Wandong push open the door and enter the office. She closed the door behind her, shutting out the group of students who were straining their ears to eavesdrop, and strode over with a powerful aura. “Apologize to Yan Xia.”
Jiang He shuddered. Shang Wandong? Why would she come here…
Director Xu was also very surprised. Seeing that it was a student from his own class, he pretended to be stern. “Student Shang Wandong, you cannot enter the office without a teacher’s permission.”
Shang Wandong glanced at Yan Xia and said, “I am here to testify for her.”
Her voice was cool, carrying a reassuring stability. “She has been reviewing with me these past few days. There was no need for her to cheat.”
Yan Xia blinked and stared blankly at her, a surge of warmth rising in her heart. She really hadn’t expected Shang Wandong to come over and personally clear her name. The weight of the top student’s words was much higher than someone like Jiang He. After all, in school, good grades are the ultimate pass.
Old Liu and the others also knew Shang Wandong’s character, so they were even more convinced and nodded repeatedly. “That’s right. An apology is due.”
Old Liu said with an apologetic face, “Student Yan Xia, I was narrow-minded. I apologize for my previous behavior of doubting you.”
Yan Xia blinked. “It’s fine, Teacher Liu.”
The eyes of several people fell on Zhang Ying at the same time. Her face was ashen. After a long silence, she said muffledly, “…Yan Xia, I’m sorry.”
Yan Xia looked at her and suddenly laughed. “Teacher, please don’t be so impulsive in the future.”
Zhang Ying didn’t dare raise her head. She glared hatefully at Jiang He and ran out of the door, covering her eyes it seemed she was crying from anger. Seeing this, the English teacher followed her out worriedly.
Director Xu said cheerfully, “Alright, alright. Since everything has been cleared up, everyone disperse.”
Jiang He wanted to slip away, but she heard Yan Xia laugh softly. “It’s not over yet.”
She took out her phone and clicked on a recording. Familiar voices echoed throughout the office.
“…Yan Xia, we are friends… How would I know you were in the restroom…” “I didn’t say I was bullied in the restroom.”
Jiang He’s face turned deathly pale instantly.
Old Liu’s eyes widened in surprise. “What is the meaning of this?”
“The evidence of campus bullying I just mentioned.” Yan Xia took a few steps back and stood side-by-side with Shang Wandong. “Jiang He, along with several students from Class F, engaged in insulting and aggressive behavior against me in the girls’ restroom.”
The system sighed: “Awesome! This wave is secured!”
“No, it’s not! I…” Jiang He shook her head repeatedly, inadvertently meeting Shang Wandong’s cold and disgusted gaze. A chilling cold seeped into her heart, and her eyes suddenly turned red. “I didn’t mean to…”
She was just jealous. Why did someone like Yan Xia have such a good family, wearing famous brands so casually, while she had to save her breakfast money every day just to buy what she wanted? Why was Yan Xia so mediocre, yet Shang Wandong always stood up for her? Ever since Yan Xia changed her look and became so beautiful and studious, Jiang He walking beside her was only treated by others as a dull green leaf serving as a foil! Seeing Yan Xia’s brilliance grow brighter while she was made to look like a dim shadow… she was not reconciled!
Jiang He’s expression gradually turned dark, and the others, seeing this, understood what was happening.
“Yan Xia, don’t worry. Campus violence is very malicious and absolutely cannot be handled casually.” Director Xu turned to Jiang He and said, “Have your parents come tomorrow to discuss the matter of your expulsion.”
