The Green Tea Omega Has Turned Bad - Chapter 23
The scent of sea salt pheromones permeated the room wantonly.
Only a single nightlight was lit in the entire house.
Shang Wandong stood amidst a floor of mess, the sparse light falling upon her body half bathed in the pale yellow shadow, half relegated to the hazy darkness.
Yan Xia cautiously stepped over the scattered debris, coming to a stop in front of Shang Wandong.
The further she advanced, the richer the scent of the sea breeze became around her, as if a vast, boundless deep sea were slowly swallowing her whole.
She looked at Shang Wandong’s wet arm.
Viscous blood seeped slowly from tiny scratches, flowing along her snow-white fingertips; a heavy, metallic smell of rust mingled with the whistling sea wind.
Yan Xia’s heart gave a heavy thud, and she licked her dry lips. “…Does it hurt?”
Shang Wandong shook her head silently.
Yan Xia reached out, wanting to check Shang Wandong’s injuries, but the other woman took a step back, instinctively avoiding her.
She pressed her voice down, saying huskily, “Get out.”
Yan Xia ignored her, moving closer to grab Shang Wandong’s arm.
Several long, thin scratches crisscrossed her slender forearm, looking as though they had been sliced by broken glass.
She breathed a sigh of relief. “Fortunately, the wounds aren’t deep…”
But Shang Wandong suddenly wrenched away from her, her gaze sinking low.
Yan Xia’s hand froze in mid-air, bewildered. “What is wrong with you?”
The System guessed from the side: “Perhaps it’s due to the Alpha’s susceptibility period (rut).”
Yan Xia recalled the descriptions of ruts in the book and asked uncertainly, “I remember Shang Wandong has pheromone apathy; she shouldn’t be affected by surrounding pheromones, right?”
“Normally, that’s true. But the susceptibility period is an exception,” the System explained. “The susceptibility period is similar to an Omega’s heat, but slightly different. It amplifies an Alpha’s emotions, making them more manic and irritable, but it doesn’t affect their movement like a heat does.”
“An Alpha in their susceptibility period finds it difficult to resist their instincts; they are more aggressive than usual. Not only will they unconsciously reject nearby Alphas, but they will also be more sensitive to Omega pheromones than usual.”
“To avoid accidents, many Alphas will wear a bite suppressant muzzle in advance or take suppressants.”
Yan Xia froze, instinctively touching the back of her neck.
A sweet, fruity scent was drifting out in thin threads from behind the pheromone-blocking patch.
She inquired, “I remember the female lead’s pheromone is lime?”
System: “Correct, but since the host turned into an Alpha, the scent of the pheromone has changed slightly, shifting from lime to lemon.”
In short, it had become sweeter not a big deal.
Yan Xia pursed her lips. “…Then Shang Wandong shouldn’t be able to tell I’m an Alpha, right?”
“Even if she can’t smell it, you still have to act the part, Host!” the System said helplessly. “You are technically an Omega right now.”
Yan Xia: “…”
Wouldn’t a normal Omega be like Yan Siqiu by now legs so weak they couldn’t stand straight?
She looked at Shang Wandong and felt she had already missed the best opportunity to perform.
Just as she was thinking about whether to choose a graceful posture to pretend to collapse softly, Shang Wandong took the initiative and walked over.
She reached out and tightly encircled Yan Xia’s waist.
The next second, Yan Xia felt the world spin. She was thrown onto the bed behind her.
Yan Xia: “??!!!”
This move wham it was incredibly fast!
When she regained her senses, she was on the soft Simmons mattress, and Shang Wandong was kneeling over her from a commanding height. The corners of her eyes were flushed red, her soft lips parted slightly, and she exhaled heavily.
She looked down at Yan Xia beneath her, like a predator sizing up prey that had fallen into a trap. Her curled eyelashes trembled, and her dark eyes hid countless emotions.
In such a position, there was an inexplicable sense of extra pressure.
Yan Xia’s eyes widened, her pupils constricting slightly, and she swallowed nervously. “…Sister?”
Dammit, is this what the ‘block of wood’ is like during her susceptibility period?!
It’s… it’s freaking intense!
“I told you to get out long ago.” Shang Wandong’s arms pinned her down, her voice cold. “You brought this on yourself.”
Stray strands of hair fell onto Yan Xia’s cheek, causing a tickling sensation. She turned her head, instinctively dodging a bit, feeling her whole body grow hot and dizzy.
When a person who is usually calm and self-controlled says something like this, it really possesses an indescribable… attraction.
The System shrieked and said very shyly: “Oh my, non-halal for the eyes! I’m turning on Privacy Mode right now; take your time, you two!”
Privacy Mode meant the system would not actively intrude on the host’s privacy; it would cancel monitoring and automatically disappear at critical moments.
Yan Xia: …That’s actually quite humane.
She squinted her eyes, her heart racing like a deer crossing a red light. She was a little scared, yet inexplicably expectant.
The salty sea breeze enveloped her like a thick fog covering everything.
At such a close distance, even with a pheromone blocker installed, she could still feel that scent forcefully piercing through, full of aggression. Pheromones between Alphas were naturally repulsive, yet they acted like a bomb, making even her blood boil and burn.
Shang Wandong’s gaze slid across her tightly pressed lips, paused slightly, and then moved all the way down to stop at her neck.
The first two buttons of her shirt were undone, and her slender neck was dazzlingly white, looking as though it might break with a gentle snap.
She leaned down, her red lips slightly parted. Her sharp canines were faintly visible, and her warm breath brushed past Yan Xia’s collarbone.
Yan Xia’s heart suddenly hammered like a drum: Does she want to “mark” me?
If Shang Wandong discovers right now that I’m actually not an Omega…
She instinctively weakened her pheromones, trying to soothe the restless Alpha in front of her.
However, the imagined stinging pain did not come.
Shang Wandong took her into her arms, lowered her body, and buried her head in the crook of Yan Xia’s neck.
Yan Xia: “…?”
The fluffy head nudged against her neck, like a large dog clinging to its master. Her nose twitched, stopping at the back of Yan Xia’s neck, and she held her without moving.
Such an intimate posture, yet because of the “singlemindedness” of the two, the atmosphere felt a bit off.
Yan Xia’s expression froze: That’s it?
Nothing else?
She struggled a bit, but Shang Wandong pinned her down firmly again and said muffledly, “Hug.”
Yan Xia lost her temper.
She lay there in self-abandonment, her face wooden. “Hug, hug, hug. Go ahead and hug.”
Shang Wandong circled her waist and rubbed contentedly against the back of her neck.
Yan Xia looked up at the ceiling with an expression that was hard to describe: So you’re satisfied with just this?!
Now, if she moved even slightly, she would touch some rather… “unfortunate” places.
If she hadn’t felt Shang Wandong’s “weight,” she really would have thought the other person “couldn’t do it” anymore.
“Sigh.” She patted Shang Wandong’s back in frustration. “I shouldn’t have had any expectations for a block of wood like you!”
Just as she finished speaking, the sound of dense footsteps hurried over from the doorway.
Yan Siqiu walked in, looking horrified. “What are you two doing?!”
On the floor was a pile of glass shards, and the two were lying on the bed in an extremely ambiguous posture. The sheets were stained red with blood splattered here and there; the scene looked like an artistic and beautiful crime scene from a movie.
Yan Xia gave her a lifeless look and said gloomily, “Nothing. Though I wanted something to happen…”
Yan Siqiu: “???”
