The Golden Cane and the Wild Rose - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Yun Ran hadn’t intended to kiss Jiang Musheng. She was just struggling with how to get up.
But after Jiang Musheng’s question, she felt as if she had been bewitched.
‘Did Jiang Musheng want her to kiss him?’
Yun Ran swallowed uncertainly. Her body relaxed slightly, and as her strength gave out, she pressed down on Jiang Musheng. They moved a little closer together.
Her hands rested on Jiang Musheng’s shoulders, and her chest gently brushed against his dark gray jacket.
He always wore dark colors.
Suddenly, a wet strand of hair from the back of Yun Ran’s neck slipped down and landed on the skin of Jiang Musheng’s collarbone.
The seawater from her wet hair also spread on his skin.
Yun Ran took a gentle breath.
She thought this might be a good time.
A good opportunity to strengthen Jiang Musheng’s feelings for her.
She closed her eyes, and her lips slowly descended, searching for Jiang Musheng’s.
At first, she didn’t find the right spot. She kissed the tip of his nose.
‘Wrong?’
Yun Ran’s heart trembled slightly.
Just as she was scrambling to correct herself, Jiang Musheng was one step ahead.
A hand she couldn’t see pressed against the back of her neck. Jiang Musheng seemed to tilt his head back again.
His cool, thin lips covered hers, and Yun Ran felt a little suffocated.
She felt like she was being swallowed whole by Jiang Musheng.
In the end, she had become Jiang Musheng’s “dish,” and she had offered herself up willingly.
Under the strong glare of the afternoon sun, the surface of the sea was shimmering, and the sand glittered with fine, sparkling light.
Vaguely, Jiang Xueyu stood in the warm water, only her small head visible. She pointed to the beach in the distance and asked, “Hey, is that big brother and sister-in-law?”
“They’re…”
Before she could finish, Alan, who was measuring the depth of the water for her, covered her eyes.
Jiang Xueyu reached up to pry Alan’s hands away, saying defiantly, “Alan, why are you treating me like a child just like my brother? I already know what it feels like to kiss someone.”
“Miss, that person was just a bad man who was tricking you.”
“I know now. I really was bad at judging people before. I’m sorry I made you and big brother worry.”
“But, but Alan, do you know? At my age, my classmates can already watch R-rated movies. I should be able to too.”
“I know you’re in a hurry to grow up, but is doing the same things as your classmates really a good thing?”
Jiang Xueyu couldn’t help but be taken aback.
‘That’s right,’ she thought. ‘Big brother has protected me so well since I was little. I’m envious of my classmates’ freedom, but is that kind of freedom really good?’
Jiang Xueyu suddenly felt a little lost.
She said worriedly, “I feel like big brother’s control over my romantic relationships will be even stricter now.”
“That’s how it should be,” Alan said.
“You always think my brother is right,” Jiang Xueyu said, turning around. To avoid hurting her eyes, Alan released her hand from covering them.
“In my eyes, any action Mr. Jiang takes to protect you, Miss, is the right one.”
“Then I might never be able to fall in love,” Jiang Xueyu said with a sigh.
Alan’s eyes dimmed slightly. “You’ll have a chance. Mr. Jiang will choose the most suitable person for you.”
“I might not like the person big brother thinks is best for me.”
“Mr. Jiang will surely take your own preferences into consideration.”
“Will such a person exist?”
“There will,” Alan said with absolute certainty. “As long as Mr. Jiang wants something, there’s nothing he can’t do.”
Alan looked into the distance. It wasn’t that there was nothing Mr. Jiang couldn’t do. Everyone once thought Mr. Jiang was cold and unfeeling, destined to be alone forever. But now, hadn’t a Miss Yun appeared by his side, capable of igniting the fire of life in him?
‘This is enough.’
If the kiss went on any longer, she would truly suffocate. In her desperation, Yun Ran bit Jiang Musheng’s lip.
Then, she tasted both oxygen and Jiang Musheng’s blood at the same time.
Oxygen mixed with Jiang Musheng’s blood.
She took a huge gasp of air. The more oxygen she took in, the more fear grew inside her.
She had thought she was no longer afraid of Jiang Musheng, but it turned out she still was.
“Mr. Jiang, I…”
Before Yun Ran could finish her sentence, Jiang Musheng reached out his tongue and licked the corner of her lips. His deep, husky voice held a hint of a smile.
“So, that’s what my blood tastes like.”
Yun Ran felt her heart give a heavy thump. She thought Jiang Musheng was a little crazy.
With her heart pounding, she explained, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jiang. This is my first time kissing anyone. I’m not very good at it and I bit you.”
“Your first time?”
Yun Ran was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
“It’s okay. It’s my first time too.”
Hearing Jiang Musheng say it was his first time too, Yun Ran couldn’t describe how she felt.
Just now, had she, of her own accord, initiated the exchange of their first kisses?
“No, I think this is my second time,” Jiang Musheng suddenly corrected himself.
Yun Ran couldn’t help but look at Jiang Musheng with curiosity. He said he was a man who stayed away from women. It seemed that wasn’t entirely true.
“Here.” There was a smile in Jiang Musheng’s deep, vampire-like eyes. He held up the newspaper he had been looking at earlier.
Yun Ran saw the news report about her and Jiang Musheng’s passionate kiss on the street again, and her face flushed.
The newspaper was also wet from the seawater Yun Ran had brought with her. The small photo was damp, just like she and Jiang Musheng were now.
Jiang Musheng had long since been wet by her.
“Aran,” Jiang Musheng put the newspaper down and took her hand. “Is there anything you want?”
‘Was this compensation? Compensation for the kiss just now?’
It seemed that “reward” was a more fitting word.
Yun Ran felt the warmth from Jiang Musheng’s hand on her wrist and saw the jade bracelet on her other hand.
She suddenly understood something.
“Mr. Jiang, you knew from the beginning that I wanted something from you, didn’t you?”
Jiang Musheng didn’t deny it. He just said, “You never take the initiative to ask for anything from me. I can only create opportunities to ask. Since you’ve followed me, I can’t not give you something in return.”
Yun Ran’s eyes widened.
She had thought that powerful people like Jiang Musheng most feared having someone with ulterior motives by their side. ‘Was it that Jiang Musheng was naturally open-minded about this, or had her cautious attitude given him the impression that she was content, sensible, and not greedy, making him feel she was a good person he should treat better on his own initiative?’
The problem with having a complex mind was that she couldn’t accept things simply. She was always used to thinking about whether she could pay the corresponding price for what others gave her.
Based on her time with him, Jiang Musheng was like a docile lion, even to the point of being overly gentle, not even needing to eat meat.
She bit his lip, and not only was he not angry, but he wanted to reward her.
Gentle with a touch of madness.
Yun Ran felt that no matter what happened in the future, she could probably withstand the anger of such a gentle lion.
“Still don’t want anything?” Jiang Musheng asked her.
Yun Ran’s hesitant gaze became firm. “I do, Mr. Jiang.”
“What?”
“I want you to help me find someone.”
