- Chapter 15 - He Naturally Knew How to Bait an Alpha
After the feedback report of over four hundred words was successfully sent, very little remained of the twenty-minute window.
Xi Li felt more and more as if there were something wrong with his head. He turned his head to look at Qin Fei.
“It is sent.” He specifically showed the confirmation of the successful transmission to Qin Fei, saying crossly, “Do you feel better now? If you feel better, go and put on your pheromone blocking patch properly.”
The four-hundred-word feedback seemed to have exhausted all of Qin Fei’s strength. He sank softly back into the sofa.
His glazed eyes indicated that he was still suffering from the adverse reactions caused by the inhibitor. His fingers gripped the sofa armrest, his knuckles turning white from the exertion.
“Forget it. Just stay there quietly.” Xi Li planned to directly request the starship’s medical team to send a Beta over.
However, before Xi Li could make the call, Qin Fei stood up. His figure swayed as he passed through Xi Li’s projection toward the partition. Xi Li followed him and saw Qin Fei open a suitcase.
The suitcase brought from the royal family contained few clothes and no jewelry. It was filled only with various medicine boxes of different sizes.
Qin Fei’s consciousness was blurred. His slender fingers brushed over the medicine boxes several times before he sluggishly selected the largest one. He struggled a bit to open it and took out a pheromone blocking patch.
He fumbled while unwrapping the patch and struggled again while applying it to his gland, but he managed to put it on eventually. Then, he stumbled as he put on his bite-guard.
Once everything was done, he looked up at Xi Li and said obediently, “It is on.”
Xi Li was speechless. At a time like this, Qin Fei was being so well-behaved that it made Xi Li’s teeth itch with irritation.
He contacted the starship’s medical team via the first-class cabin’s call bell.
“Hello, how may I help you?”
“An Omega is in their sensitive period and is having an extreme reaction after an inhibitor injection. Send someone over immediately.”
“Understood. We are on our way.”
“It must be a Beta.”
“Of course.”
Xi Li remained silent for a moment. The operator explained, “Due to the long duration of the flight and considering the sensitive or susceptible periods of our passengers, the starship is specifically equipped with professional Beta doctors. Please rest assured.”
Xi Li felt a pang of annoyance. If he had known, he would have called someone sooner instead of wasting so much time. However, he had never taken a commercial starship before, so how could he have known they were so accommodating?
Less than ten seconds remained of the twenty minutes. Xi Li hastily applied a hide command to the unsent messages and looked at Qin Fei one last time. “Wait on the sofa. Endure it for a bit; someone will be here soon.”
Qin Fei replied, “Mm-hmm.” He went back to the sofa and sat down properly.
Xi Li glared at Qin Fei. For some reason, an inexplicable fire rose in his heart. His figure began to dissipate, and by the time the doorbell of the first-class cabin rang, his holographic image had vanished from the cabin.
The Terminal came online, sounding exasperated. “Ah! I am dirty! There is a virus—”
The sound of knocking interrupted the Terminal’s aggrieved complaint. As an outdated but expensive device, the Terminal displayed its refined upbringing. It immediately opened the door for the medical staff and sent Qin Fei’s physical examination results to their terminals.
Wait. Qin Fei’s physical examination results? Results from twelve minutes ago?
After his demands were met, Qin Fei’s mood had clearly improved. The medical staff prescribed some slow-release medication and instructed him that it was best not to drink alcohol during his sensitive period.
“If you cannot remember these precautions, you can have your Terminal remind you,” the medic said before leaving.
This made the Terminal feel incredibly wronged. Qin Fei had a slight sleep disorder; compared to a moderate amount of red wine, those sleep aids were even less suitable to take during a sensitive period.
After the medical staff left, the Terminal adjusted the cabin temperature, only to find that it had already been adjusted ten minutes prior—to the exact temperature suitable for an Omega’s sensitive period.
The Terminal went silent. This virus was extremely cunning with a very advanced algorithm. It had hidden its origin, making it impossible for the Terminal to trace. However, since the virus had taken over, it must have left traces of its activity. The Terminal was determined to see what this virus had done during those twenty minutes.
Qin Fei had already fallen asleep, but he had granted the Terminal highest authority long ago. The Terminal ran its tracking system, searching inch by inch for the traces left by the virus.
Beep— Found evidence of the virus setting the fresh air system to its lowest setting.
Beep beep— Found evidence of the virus using the projection function. However, the virus had disabled the recording function. How detestable.
Beep beep beep— Found evidence of the virus composing an email and sending it to the official “Exclusive ABO” inbox.
The Terminal was stunned. Is it insane?!
Beep beep beep beep— Found evidence of the virus calling the starship’s medical team. But the virus had disabled the audio recording.
The Terminal silently downloaded the most advanced security patches. Although its old hardware might struggle to carry the load, for the sake of its master’s personal safety, the Terminal would rather become sluggish. Patch after patch was downloaded, slowly filling the holes in its ports like a sieve.
Data flowed, and the code resembled flexible snakes.
The conscious data that had reached out through the port returned to its body. Xi Li stood up and smashed everything within reach once again. He was very, very angry, yet he refused to trace the reason for his anger. He smashed things until the game program detected his abnormality and issued seven consecutive warnings, but he still refused to stop.
It was only when the program forcibly repaired his personality that Xi Li was forced to sit back down on the sofa. I wasted an opportunity, he thought gloomily. Now I have to keep revolving around Qin Fei in this boring game, he thought with hatred.
However, Xi Li waited for an entire day, but Qin Fei never logged on. When a player is absent, their 2D character has nothing to do.
It would be for the best if Qin Fei never logged on again. He did not have time to play boring romance games with Qin Fei; finding a way to leave this wretched place was the real priority. Qin Fei’s Terminal had likely been patched, so he would not waste any more time.
His motto in life was: Do. Not. Waste. Time.
However, few devices were like Qin Fei’s Terminal, with ports as leaky as a sieve. Every port Xi Li could find now had the highest level of defense. He still could not fully control his conscious data, and after several near-successes, he ended up alone in his room smashing things in frustration.
After he finished, he checked the time. Qin Fei had not logged on for two days.
Xi Li stared. He thought about the feedback he had helped Qin Fei send. That person had been in so much pain yet was still worried about Intimacy, yet he had managed to stay offline for two days.
A thought occurred to him, and it felt as if a thin thread had suddenly sprouted in his heart, tightening as his thoughts raced. Could something have actually happened to him? How good could the medical conditions on that broken starship be? And the journey was so long… Where was he going?
If he remembered correctly, his “fiancé” had never traveled far from home—otherwise, what Omega would choose to travel during their sensitive period? Or… had his pheromones attracted some idiot Alpha?
Xi Li’s expression darkened. I think they are looking for death.
Xi Li menacingly sought out Qin Fei’s Terminal, only to be blocked by the newly downloaded patches. He let out a frustrated breath. His anger dissipated, and in the chaotic, dim room, he sat shrouded in shadows, his expression unreadable.
Two days later, Qin Fei logged into the game.
“It is so laggy,” Qin Fei could not help but complain again.
Ever since the Terminal had downloaded nearly a hundred patches, the programs had become sluggish. Due to compatibility issues between the patches and the game, Qin Fei had been unable to log in for four days. Today, the conflict was finally resolved, but even the login screen was lagging with ghost images. He was very concerned about his gaming experience.
The Terminal guaranteed, “Rest assured, there will be absolutely no problem.”
As soon as it spoke, a pop-up appeared on the light screen.
[Main Story Loading Failed]
Qin Fei: “…” Terminal: “…”
The Terminal said, “Please wait a moment, I will investigate the cause.”
“No need.” Qin Fei stopped the Terminal. He had managed to log in with great difficulty and did not want the Terminal to mess with it further. If it ended up making the game impossible to log into at all, it would not be worth the risk.
Even without entering the main story, the game was still playable.
Qin Fei first checked his [Intimacy]. It was still the silent number “0.” However, Qin Fei was mentally prepared; after all, the feedback sent to the officials had not received a reply yet.
Qin Fei opened the [Terminal]. Pitifully, the last reply was still his own. He thought about it and sent a message to the character.
[Qin Fei]: Good evening.
He did not expect an immediate reply, as he had logged in mainly to explore other gameplay features. During the days he could not log in, Qin Fei had been researching Intimacy guides. The main story was not the only way to increase Intimacy; there were many other methods.
However, before Qin Fei could explore, his audio suddenly “dinged.” The character replied to his message instantly.
[Sha Bei]: Are you…
[Sha Bei]: …alright?
Qin Fei was somewhat surprised. The Terminal said, “It is likely because you have not logged in for four days.”
Qin Fei asked, “Is that so?”
The Terminal pulled up a virtual keyboard, and Qin Fei slowly typed.
[Qin Fei]: My Terminal was invaded by a virus, so I have not been online these past few days.
Two seconds passed.
[Sha Bei]: …
The Terminal said, “Now that you have explained it clearly, he is no longer worried about you.”
“I know,” Qin Fei said. “I just do not want to use those cruel methods on Sha Bei. Then again—”
He naturally knew how to bait an Alpha’s heart. Qin Fei continued typing.
[Qin Fei]: This virus logged into my Terminal and peeked at me while I was sleeping.
[Sha Bei]: ??????
Qin Fei raised an eyebrow. “He is nervous.” The Terminal replied, “You are amazing.”
[Qin Fei]: It even stole my photos.
[Sha Bei]: ??????
[Qin Fei]: The person who implanted the virus must be a pervert.
[Sha Bei]: …Then call the police.
[Qin Fei]: Never mind.
[Sha Bei]: If you do not call the police and catch it, are you not afraid it will steal your bank balance?
[Qin Fei]: It is fine if it steals it.
[Sha Bei]: You have a lot of money?
Xi Li snorted. The young master of the wealthiest family, the Qin family, certainly did not lack money. He held his terminal, swept away the mess on the sofa, and sat down in a dominant posture.
Ding— A message from Qin Fei arrived.
[Qin Fei]: The money is dirty.
Xi Li laughed. As far as he knew, the Qin family did indeed have many “grey” industries. What, was this person trying to be “pure even in the mud”? Or was he truly different from those people?
Xi Li could not help but ask: Why do you think it is dirty?
The Terminal “dinged” again. Qin Fei’s message arrived.
[Qin Fei]: It is the royal allowance.
Xi Li froze, then suddenly remembered. Members of the royal family received a monthly allowance. So, what Qin Fei was receiving was, the allowance for the Little Highness’s fiancé.
Xi Li’s smile vanished instantly.
Another message arrived, adding fuel to the fire.
[Qin Fei]: Husband, let me buy some clothes for you.
Xi Li ground his teeth: Using your allowance?
