- Chapter 32 - Gu Han Strokes Qi Ran’s Stomach
Qi Ran nodded: “Alright.”
Gu Han held Qi Ran, pulling him into his arms and gently rubbing his palm over Qi Ran’s stomach. As he rubbed slowly, Qi Ran said it wasn’t enough, he needed a bit more pressure for his stomach to feel better. Gu Han gathered his fingertips as he had before, pressing with moderate force on the spasms in Qi Ran’s stomach. That hard spot in Qi Ran’s belly kept twitching under Gu Han’s fingertips. The more he rubbed, the more it hurt, causing Qi Ran’s brows to furrow. Gu Han wanted Qi Ran to rest for a moment before continuing the massage, but Qi Ran shook his head: “Keep rubbing, Hubby. I’m okay.”
Gu Han held Qi Ran, soothing him with soft words while massaging the spasms until his stomach completely softened and his body relaxed. Holding the soft, fragrant Qi Ran, Gu Han brushed away strands of hair with his well-defined fingers and wiped the sweat from Qi Ran’s forehead: “It hurt for a long time, didn’t it, Wifey? It’s okay now. Wifey’s tummy has softened, you must feel much better.”
Qi Ran grabbed Gu Han’s hand, pulled it to his lips, and kissed it. Having endured the stomach pain for so long, now that his body was relaxing, he couldn’t help but let out a few lingering gasps. “It is much better. Gu Han baby, you’re so good at rubbing.”
Gu Han kissed the corner of Qi Ran’s eye. “I’ll rub it a bit longer, then it’ll be time for Wifey to eat. What do you want? I’ll learn how to make it.”
“Let me go to the kitchen with you,” Qi Ran turned on his side and hugged Gu Han. “I’m actually quite good at cooking.”
“You’re sick, Wifey. Our little Ranran just had surgery in his stomach, didn’t he?”
Gu Han held Qi Ran tightly, inhaling the warm fragrance from his neck, and said softly: “You teach me, then I’ll do it. You need to rest.”
“I want to go with you,” Qi Ran acted spoiled. “Hubby, I miss you.”
“Alright then,” Gu Han said. “There are some heating pads for the body at home. I’ll get some to warm your stomach.”
“Heat packs? Why did Hubby buy those?” Qi Ran held Gu Han’s hand, looking concerned. “Are you afraid of the cold in winter too?”
“No, Wifey,” Gu Han said while rummaging through the nightstand. “It’s just that years ago when I had a fever, my hands were cold, so a friend gave me some to keep my hands warm.”
“Hubby,” Qi Ran became even more worried. “Do you still get fevers often now?”
“No,” Gu Han replied. “That was many years ago. I was too busy back then, not sleeping or eating well, so my immunity might have been low. Now I make sure to rest and exercise. I rarely get sick. I just don’t know if these heat packs have expired. If they can’t be used, I’ll buy new ones.”
“Hubby, I don’t want to use them right now. Sticking them on for too long will make my stomach too hot,” Qi Ran lay on the bed, chin in his hands, his snowy-white legs kicking up. “We can use them at night to make it warmer under the covers.”
“Okay, I’ll look for them tonight then.” Gu Han stood up and noticed Qi Ran was lying there observing him, looking extremely cute. His fair hands supported his slightly chubby, pale cheeks, his puppy eyes were dark and bright, and his long, curled eyelashes were especially beautiful. Gu Han’s heart practically melted. He leaned down to pull Qi Ran into his arms and then picked him up steadily. “How are you so pretty? Ranran little angel, you are truly beautiful.”
“I might… look okay. People around me used to praise me like that,” Qi Ran smiled and reached out his arms toward Gu Han. “Hubby, do you like the way I look?”
“I love it, Wifey.”
Gu Han kissed Qi Ran. “You’re not just ‘okay.’ You are exceptionally, exceptionally beautiful.”
“Stop praising me, my face is going to turn red,” Qi Ran covered his cheeks. “Quick, let’s go to the kitchen. Hubby and I both need to eat.”
Qi Ran wanted to eat noodles today. Since they happened to have the fish Gu Han had roasted, Qi Ran taught Gu Han how to cook. Qi Ran acted as the head chef while Gu Han watched obediently by his side, carefully memorizing the steps for the broth.
Qi Ran used the fish and fresh shrimp, adding some frozen whelk meat and dried scallops to make a rich broth. Then he added chopped green onions, cilantro, and a drizzle of sesame oil. After rinsing the cooked noodles in cold water, he placed them directly into the broth. Following doctor’s orders, Qi Ran could only eat one small bowl, while Gu Han, receiving Qi Ran’s care and favoritism, was given a large bowl. Smelling the aroma of the noodle soup, Gu Han’s eyes widened: “It smells so good! Wifey, you’re amazing to be able to make something this delicious. Wow, it smells better than the noodle soup at a restaurant. I’m going to die of happiness.”
Sitting beside Gu Han with his cheek resting on Gu Han’s shoulder, Qi Ran asked tentatively: “Did you really only eat high-protein muscle building meals before?”
Gu Han nodded: “Yes, Wifey. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t good either, they were just okay. Today I finally realized that fish and shrimp could be turned into something this delicious. It smells so good.”
“Come,” Gu Han picked up a spoon. “I’ll feed Wifey some noodles.”
“No need, you should eat while it’s hot, Hubby. You didn’t even eat lunch. You promised me you’d take care of your health,” Qi Ran rubbed Gu Han’s hair. “I originally didn’t want to eat because of the stomach pain, but I have to listen to the doctor. So, I’ll wait for the soup noodles to cool down a bit before I eat.”
Gu Han looked at Qi Ran gratefully for a long while. Only after Qi Ran patted his head did Gu Han pick up his chopsticks to eat. He took large bites and drank the soup, so focused on the delicious food that he almost forgot to keep praising Qi Ran.
It was the first time Gu Han ate with such abandon in front of Qi Ran, almost wolfing it down. Once the bowl was empty, Gu Han realized Qi Ran had been watching him. He slowly put the bowl down and smiled sheepishly: “Wifey, did I look very impolite just now? Sorry.”
Qi Ran had been smiling the whole time. He picked up a tissue and wiped the soup stains from the corner of Gu Han’s mouth: “No, you were very cute. This is how a real married couple should be. Can you still not fully relax around me?”
Gu Han blushed and said softly: “Thank you, Wifey, for loving me so much.”
“Hubby, your tummy is all round from eating,” Qi Ran touched Gu Han’s stomach. “It’s really cute when you eat like that, but you should eat slower, it’s not good for your body.”
When it was Qi Ran’s turn to eat, Gu Han still fed him. The two chatted as they ate, losing track of time until dusk suddenly arrived.
Gu Han’s master bedroom had large floor to ceiling windows that were kept very clean. Qi Ran suggested they stand by the window to watch the sunset: “Hubby, I want an Americano. It would feel great to drink coffee while watching the sunset.”
“Your stomach problem is so serious and you still dare to drink coffee?” Gu Han gently patted Qi Ran’s bottom. “No, you can only drink hot milk.”
“Fine,” Qi Ran furrowed his brows slightly. Though reluctant, he listened to Gu Han. “I’ll be good.”
“I’ll stay with Ranran until your stomach is all better. By then, our baby Ranran can drink anything. We might even be able to have some wine,” Gu Han found a very pretty cup and mixed some powdered milk for Qi Ran. “Ranran should like milk that is slightly sweet, right?”
Qi Ran hugged Gu Han from behind, leaning against his back, and nodded: “I like it.”
Gu Han mixed the milk for Qi Ran but ground some coffee for himself. Just as the coffee was finishing, dark clouds suddenly gathered outside. The golden sky darkened in an instant. Gu Han looked back at the weather and said: “Wifey, the clouds are so thick, there should be thunder soon. Are you scared?”
Qi Ran hugged Gu Han’s waist and shook his head: “I’m not scared.”
“The weather in the Litian Special Zone is like this, very unpredictable. It starts raining as early as February, hot for a while, then rain. The more it rains, the colder it gets, and it won’t get better until April,” Gu Han handed the cup of hot milk to Qi Ran. “The temperature will drop when we go to work tomorrow. Ranran needs to wear thicker clothes.”
“Hubby, but all my thick clothes are back at my old home. I was so focused on bringing the puppy that I forgot about the clothes.” Qi Ran took Gu Han’s arm and sniffed the coffee in his cup, leaning in for a stealthy sip. Before his lips could touch the rim, Gu Han pinched his cheek.
“Wifey,” Gu Han said softly. “No coffee.”
“I want a taste,” Qi Ran kissed the hand pinching his cheek. “Just one tiny sip.”
“Not even a little bit. Ranran will get a stomachache,” Gu Han refused him with a firm heart. “When Ranran’s body is a bit better, we can try some weak coffee, okay?”
“Okay,” Qi Ran was truly unhappy this time, but he still listened to Gu Han. “I’ll be good.”
“Ranran, I’m sorry,” Gu Han put their cups into a thermal box and hugged Qi Ran to comfort him. “Drinking coffee will worsen your stomach pain. I… I didn’t want to make you unhappy. I’m sorry.”
“I understand, Hubby. I’m not mad at you.”
Qi Ran dove into Gu Han’s arms, hugging his waist tightly: “I’ll work hard to get better, and I’ll be good.”
With everything resolved, they each took their cups and went to the bedroom to watch the thunderstorm. Gu Han sat in a single sofa chair with Qi Ran in his lap. Outside, thunderclouds rolled and rain poured down, but inside the villa, the temperature was pleasant and the atmosphere was cozy and sweet. Qi Ran, in Gu Han’s arms, was enveloped in a sweet milky scent. It was unclear if it was the scent of the hot milk he held or if Qi Ran himself had such a sweet fragrance.
“Ranran, you’re so sweet.”
Gu Han set his coffee on the nightstand, wrapped his arm around Qi Ran’s waist, and lightly rested his palm on Qi Ran’s stomach, habitually rubbing it as he spoke: “I really love the milky scent on you.”
Qi Ran turned around and lifted the cup of hot milk to show Gu Han, there was a ring of milk residue on his upper lip from drinking: “Does Hubby mean this scent?”
“No, I’ve had this milk powder before,” Gu Han kissed away the milk mark on Qi Ran’s lip. “Your scent is sweeter.”
“Then, could it be my pheromones making Hubby feel this way?” Qi Ran laughed. “There’s a biological concept for that.”
“Wifey, tell me,” Gu Han said, kissing and sniffing Qi Ran while acting spoiled, “how can there be someone as perfect as you in this world? So sweet and soft, I love you so much.”
Qi Ran loved drinking milk, so he drank the hot milk slowly, chatting with Gu Han until the sky was pitch black. Only when the sky was filled with nothing but thunderclouds and lightning did Gu Han pull the curtains shut.
“Oh, Yu Shen sent me a message,” Gu Han heard his phone ring and checked it. “He assigned some work to me. He’s always so considerate, there are really only a few pages to this document.”
“Hubby, are you going to work now?”
Qi Ran clung to Gu Han: “Can I go to the study with you? Um, like, writing the documents together? I’ve never written one before and want to see, hehe.”
“Of course Wifey will write documents with me, but that’s for after we start work tomorrow,” Gu Han swept Qi Ran up by the waist, placed him on the bed, and wrapped him in the duvet. “Right now, Wifey’s job is to use my phone to pick out some pretty little clothes and socks. Remember, Wifey, buy thicker ones because the temperature will drop tomorrow and it will be very cold. Your body is weak; you can’t wear too little.”
Gu Han handed the phone to Qi Ran, but Qi Ran hesitated to take it. He hugged the duvet, lying on his side and looking at Gu Han with innocent puppy eyes, whispering: “Is Hubby going to spend money again? No, I have my own money.”
“Wifey’s money is Wifey’s. Right now, I want Wifey to spend my money, it makes me happy,” Gu Han placed the phone in Qi Ran’s hand. “Having shopping records of things I bought for Wifey is a very happy thing.”
Gu Han’s words were always so persuasive. Qi Ran thought about it and took the phone, saying softly: “Then I’ll buy clothes for Hubby in the future too.”
“Ah, if Wifey’s shopping records have things bought for me…” Gu Han touched his heart. “Then I’ll be even happier. No, I’ll be the happiest person in the world.”
Looking at the tender eyed Gu Han, Qi Ran laughed too. They both felt that being in a relationship like this was wonderful and joyful.
“It’s only a bit past seven, the mall will deliver quickly,” Gu Han looked at the clothes Qi Ran selected and liked them very much, feeling they suited him. He submitted the order and softly shared his plan with Qi Ran. “The property manager will deliver the items in a while. Then, once Ranran falls asleep, I’ll wash those clothes and dry them so Ranran can wear them tomorrow.”
“Thank you for the hard work, Hubby,” Qi Ran held Gu Han’s hand. “If Hubby goes to wash clothes and work, what will I do?”
“Sleeping, of course,” Gu Han wrapped Qi Ran in the duvet again, holding him and coaxing him. “Wifey, it’s time to sleep. You need to take your recovery seriously.”
Qi Ran shook his head: “No, Hubby, I’m not sleepy yet.”
Just as Gu Han was about to continue coaxing Qi Ran to sleep, his phone suddenly rang. Gu Han looked at it, it was a call from Yu Shen.
Gu Han answered: “Hello, Shen.”
“I just saw Cheng Dan. He gave me some very dangerous documents, so I have to deliver these to your house personally. Fortunately, we’re neighbors in Litian Fengyue, otherwise, with this heavy rain, I really wouldn’t know how to get over,” Yu Shen stood in front of Gu Han’s villa holding an umbrella. “President Gu, is it convenient for me to come in now?”
