The General's Love Glitch - Chapter 11
Jun Jue didn’t turn around but stopped at the entrance of the main cabin. Ruan Wei, unable to brake in time, bumped into her, her forehead knocking against Jun Jue’s back.
The gray military uniform wasn’t spared either, frosting smeared onto it.
“I’m sorry, pretty sister, I didn’t mean to.”
Jun Jue took a step to the side and glanced back at her uniform, though she couldn’t see anything. She decided to take off the military jacket first.
Ruan Wei watched intently. Beneath the jacket, the pretty sister wore a gray-green shirt, the same color as the uniform, buttoned all the way to the top, just like the jacket.
Her gaze involuntarily drifted downward. With the jacket on, it hadn’t been obvious, but now she could see the elegant curves of Jun Jue’s figure, accentuated by the upright posture of a soldier.
Jun Jue naturally noticed Ruan Wei’s lingering gaze but paid it no mind. She quickly inspected the jacket draped over her wrist. The stain wasn’t large, but Jun Jue couldn’t tolerate it.
Just then, she heard Ruan Wei’s remorseful voice.
“Pretty sister, you can go ahead with your work. I’ll take care of washing the jacket for you.”
Jun Jue paused briefly before agreeing. The lounge had a combined washing and drying machine, so there was no need for Ruan Wei to hand-wash it.
Before handing over the jacket, Jun Jue removed the insignias symbolizing her rank and honors from the shoulders.
Ruan Wei cradled the jacket in both hands, solemnly declaring, “Don’t worry, pretty sister. I’ll wash and dry it right away and bring it back to you as soon as it’s done.”
The night before, her own clothes had been tossed into the machine by the pretty sister for cleaning and drying. That morning, when she went to retrieve them, she had even studied how the machine worked, it seemed simple enough.
Jun Jue gave her a slight nod but called out just as Ruan Wei turned to leave.
“Is there anything else, pretty sister?”
Jun Jue said, “Don’t call me that anymore.”
Ruan Wei froze for a moment, realizing that addressing the highest-ranking general as “pretty sister” was indeed inappropriate.
But what else could she call her?
Calling her “Jun Jue” outright would be far too presumptuous.
“Then… can I call you ‘General,’ like the soldiers do?” Ruan Wei tilted her head, asking uncertainly.
“That’s fine.” Jun Jue nodded before turning and walking straight into the main cabin.
Ruan Wei watched as the cabin door slid open automatically, Jun Jue’s tall, straight figure disappearing inside. She then hurried back to the lounge, clutching the jacket.
On the way, she encountered a few soldiers.
Spotting the military jacket in her hands, the soldiers became even more convinced of her special relationship with the general. They saluted and exclaimed, “General’s wife!”
Ruan Wei was startled. She immediately raised a finger to her lips and whispered, “You’ve got it all wrong. The general and I aren’t like that. Don’t spread rumors, or if you get punished later, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
The soldiers glanced at the jacket in her hands. Military uniforms varied by rank, and there was only one general.
The two vertical stripes on the shoulders represented supreme honor.
They had never seen the general entrust her uniform to anyone before. No matter what Ruan Wei said, they couldn’t quite believe her, though they nodded superficially and said they understood.
Ruan Wei thought she had successfully dispelled the rumors and continued running toward the lounge with Jun Jue’s jacket. By the time she was far enough away, she couldn’t hear what the soldiers were murmuring among themselves.
While Jun Jue was handling military affairs in the main cabin, a nearby display screen was specifically tracking Ruan Wei’s movements. She saw the scene of Ruan Wei being flattered by several soldiers.
Quite self-aware, and not the least bit vain.
About forty minutes later, someone arrived outside the main cabin.
Jun Jue glanced at the screen beside her, it was Ruan Wei. With a light tap of her slender fingers, the screen’s glow dimmed.
The main cabin wasn’t a place for just anyone to enter casually, so Jun Jue got up and walked to the door. From a distance, she could see Ruan Wei peeking inside.
Unfortunately, the outside didn’t offer a view of the interior. Ruan Wei couldn’t see her, but she could observe every little detail of Ruan Wei’s behavior, tiptoeing, raising a hand to her eyes as if trying to see farther, lips pressed tightly together, blinking repeatedly, as if pondering how to announce that the cleaned military jacket had been delivered.
The moment the door opened, she once again caught Ruan Wei’s startled expression.
“Flo-”
“General, how did you know I was here?”
She didn’t answer, simply taking the military jacket from Ruan Wei’s hands and swiftly putting it on. It now carried a faint floral scent, not unpleasant, something she could tolerate.
Ruan Wei swallowed hard in front of her. Jun Jue, about to fasten the buttons, was momentarily puzzled. When she looked up, Ruan Wei had already averted her gaze, her fair cheeks slightly flushed.
“If you’re thirsty, go back and drink some water.”
Ruan Wei nodded and quickly turned to leave.
As she walked away, for some reason, her mind was filled with images of Jun Jue’s pale neck, the clearly visible veins on her wrists, and even the way Jun Jue’s shirt wrinkled slightly beneath the military jacket, the small gap between two buttons revealing a glimpse of skin.
An unprecedented dryness filled her throat.
She must be craving blood again.
Afraid of giving herself away outside, Ruan Wei hurried back to the restroom at a faster pace.
…
Jun Jue felt that something was off about Ruan Wei. She recalled Ruan Wei’s slightly flushed face and that audible swallow before leaving.
Tapping the screen that tracked Ruan Wei in real-time, she saw that Ruan Wei had already returned to the restroom and chugged two bottles of water in one go.
So, she really had been thirsty.
But why the flushed face? It couldn’t have been the heat, it was winter, and while the starship’s temperature was regulated, it certainly wasn’t warm.
Jun Jue was the type to resolve questions as soon as they arose. Unable to figure it out herself, she used her neural interface to search the Federation’s database.
A few lines of text immediately appeared on the virtual screen before her:
General, the “someone” you’re referring to is yourself, isn’t it?
If it’s not due to special physical conditions, then what else could cause blushing?
Jun Jue glanced around. the main cabin was empty except for her and asked aloud, “Because of what?”
The virtual screen offered a playful answer:
General, you’re in trouble!
You’ve got a crush! You’re about to fall in love!
Jun Jue stared at the words in disbelief for a while.
When footsteps sounded by the door, she immediately cleared the search data.
The sound of military boots scraping against the floor grew closer. A subordinate who had been out on business approached and handed her a blue file with both hands.
“General, this is the information you asked me to compile. It covers the past hundred years.”
Jun Jue took it and dismissed the subordinate to their post.
She didn’t rush to open the blue file, her mind still lingering on the answer the AI had given her earlier.
Ruan Wei… liked her?
…
Author’s Note:
General: Why did she suddenly swallow like that?
Weiwei: The General has such a nice figure (^-^)
