- Chapter 12 - True or False? The Principal of No. 2 High School Trembles
The tightly closed doors were pried open with heavy pincers, and the thick panels were hoisted back, revealing the group of students and teachers huddled together inside.
“Are you all”
The question was cut short as a blue, translucent screen with a mechanical texture suddenly flickered to life in the classroom. It hissed with static, sparked twice, and then shattered into dust with a sharp click.
Fu Qingya had managed to dismantle the “Hidden Mine” in the final few seconds. With the life-threatening danger gone and the rescue team on-site, he ignored everything else and focused his entire attention on the device.
Prying away the mangled metal protective layer of the control panel, he lowered his head again, his scalpel descending toward the “Hidden Mine.”
The silver blade moved so fast it turned into a blur before the principal’s eyes. The principal had thought Fu Qingya was fast when he was cutting hundreds of wires against the clock, but he hadn’t realized the boy could move at a speed that defied the human eye.
Fu Qingya, just how many things did he know? How could he be this capable? He was so skilled it felt impossible for a youth who had only just turned eighteen.
The principal scratched his head, consumed by curiosity.
Tap, tap, tap—
A rhythmic set of footsteps approached. A handsome, middle-aged man in boots walked in from behind a group of police officers. He first sent his subordinates to comfort the traumatized students and teachers, giving orders to handle the aftermath of the incident, before walking toward Fu Qingya with long, purposeful strides.
Clang— Clatter—
Heavy metal plates and parts were tossed onto the floor by Fu Qingya. He leaned forward, reaching into the gaping hole he had carved out to retrieve a tiny component.
“This, this, and this,” he muttered. “Not bad, these are all usable.”
Fu Qingya looked over the metal heart, the control panel, and the various parts he had just extracted, his hands moving nimbly to cut and disassemble them further.
Director Luo, walking over, saw a flicker of what could only be described as “joy” in those usually listless eyes for the first time.
Fu Qingya clearly loved useful mechanical materials and related products, and he understood this unknown entity intimately.
From Fu Qingya’s demeanor, Director Luo could sense a calm confidence, as if everything was well within his grasp. If this dark purple object really was an explosive on par with an atomic bomb, then the fact that Fu Qingya dared to dismantle it alone showed a confidence bordering on arrogance.
“I think you owe me an explanation.”
The owner of the boots stopped beside Fu Qingya.
Director Luo, who had shouldered all the potential consequences and mobilized the police force based solely on Fu Qingya’s word, spoke.
Fu Qingya didn’t even look up. “This thing is called a ‘Hidden Mine,’ a high-risk explosive weapon deployed by certain entities. It has target-locking, autonomous tracking, and precision-detonation functions.”
Fu Qingya didn’t explain how he knew this, and Director Luo, in a silent understanding, didn’t press him. He only furrowed his brows.
“How can you prove that what you’re saying is true?”
In his line of work, one couldn’t let emotions dictate actions. Even if Director Luo’s intuition told him Fu Qingya was telling the truth, he still needed evidence.
Click—
A pair of hands snapped a reassembled gear into place. The previously scattered mechanical parts suddenly fit together perfectly, forming a sophisticated and strange cutting tool.
Fu Qingya tossed the tool into his pocket and reached back into the cavity of the Hidden Mine’s chest, pulling out a stone the size of a grain of sand.
He held the stone and gave it a light toss toward an empty area behind him.
Boom!
The moment the stone hit the ground, it exploded, leaving a massive crater. Flying debris sprayed toward Director Luo, causing his expression to break into one of pure, unadulterated shock.
What was that? Why did it explode the moment it touched the ground? And with such power!
“Alert!”
Startled by the sudden blast, the students and teachers scrambled behind the police. A squad leader immediately shouted for everyone to be on guard, his firearm pointed directly at the source of the noise inside the classroom.
The principal, who had been staring at Fu Qingya and watched him casually toss something that blew a hole in the floor of the technology building, began to shake. Looking at the black pedestal beside Fu Qingya now was like watching a horror movie.
A tiny pebble from that thing could blast such a huge hole, if the entire device had gone off earlier, they would probably be nothing but ash by now.
Thank goodness for Fu Qingya! He had saved the lives of every student and teacher present!
The principal’s eyes were filled with gratitude and lingering fear.
Fu Qingya was truly incredible, to be able to control the intensity so precisely. Even when throwing an explosive behind him, he didn’t hurt anyone, instead blowing a hole in the ground with perfect accuracy.
Wait! Fu Qingya blew a hole in the first floor of the technology building? The technology building that the school spent a fortune renovating, now had a giant hole in it?
The principal’s face, which had just been filled with the relief of surviving, instantly froze.
His technology building! His performance reviews! The school’s reserve funds! It was all going to be gone!
The principal looked like he was about to burst into tears. If he ever found out which bastard dropped a dangerous weapon in his school, he would have to go up and curse them out personally to vent his frustration!
Director Luo’s body, which had instinctively tensed up, relaxed slightly. He looked at Fu Qingya. “How many more of those stones are inside that ‘Hidden Mine’?”
High-risk items that explode on impact had to be sealed away with extreme caution. they had to be on high alert and figure out exactly how many needed to be accounted for.
Judging by Fu Qingya’s attitude, he didn’t seem to want those strange, deep blue stones, which meant the Director could go ahead and clean up the mess.
Then again, he wondered who had raised Fu Qingya to be so nonchalant. To display such a high-risk item in front of everyone just to prove his words were true.
While it was certainly a solid way to provide evidence, the method was a bit too blunt and crude, and it would cause no shortage of trouble later.
But then again, he was the one who asked for proof. Fu Qingya was just proving himself, there was nothing to complain about.
Except…
“Did you call us here just to comfort the panicked students?”
Director Luo frowned. He felt there was another reason. Fu Qingya seemed both familiar with them and resistant to them. If it was only for this, Fu Qingya, who clearly found them troublesome, wouldn’t have called him.
Also…
“How do you plan to handle this thing?”
Although he already had some ideas, Fu Qingya was the one who solved the crisis, so he had to ask for his opinion. Though, even if Fu Qingya disagreed, it was unlikely they would let such a dangerous object stay in his hands.
Hearing Director Luo’s words, Fu Qingya finally deigned to look up. With a weary, handsome face, he spoke in a flat tone, as if asking what someone had for lunch.
“There is more than one ‘Hidden Mine.’ I need you to help me conduct a carpet search across the capital.”
“What!”
Director Luo lost his composure and cried out, his stern brows knitting together so tightly they could have held a pen.
“Can you guarantee that this information is reliable?”
Fu Qingya didn’t speak. Instead, he gave the massive hole in the floor of the technology building a very pointed, very flat look.
